• EDUARDO (8/5): Una estancia agradable. - Que el hotel tuviera disponibilidad para utilizar la cocina y la refrigeradora sin costo adicional. Que el jabón de cuerpo no era de calidad y tenía feo olor. También que el ventilador no servía mucho.
• Julie (1/5): À fuir - 1) Réservation pour 3 nuits sur booking : 126 USD, à l’arrivée on me fait payer 134 USD 2) On m’indique que la chambre que j’ai réservé n’est pas disponible ce jour, seulement le lendemain, mais on me propose une autre chambre ce que j’accepte 3) la chambre de la première nuit n’a pas le même standing que celle que j’ai réservé, et on me refuse une compensation financière 4) Présence de nombreux cafards dans la chambre, certes c’est lié au climat, j’envoie un message le premier soir à 21h20 pour au moins avoir une moustiquaire ou des produits pour dormir plus tranquillement, pas de réponse avant le lendemain matin 5) Pour toutes ses raisons je demande une modification de changement de dates pour partir plus tôt et être remboursés des nuits non effectués, ce qu’elle me refuse en mettant la faute sur booking MANQUE DE RÉACTIVITÉ / MAUVAISE FOI / PAS DE REMISE EN QUESTION
• Roberto (5/5): Centrale - Prezzo buono, posizione centrale a La Fortuna. La proprietaria è molto cortese. Stanza molto piccola e senza finestre. C'erano tre posti letto (un letto a castello con letto alla francese sotto e sopra un altro lettino) ma scarsissimo posto per aprire i bagagli (e io ero da solo). La porta del bagno non aveva maniglia né dentro, né fuori solo un chiavistello interno.

• Katharina (7/5): - Ana war sehr hilfsbereit und organisierte uns den Transport nach Monteverde. Die Fenster gehen nur ins Innere des Hostels, dadurch war es laut, wenn nachts andere Gäste kamen. Außerdem waren Tiere auf dem Dach über uns unterwegs.

The shared kitchen was the best we've ever seen with everything needed to prepare meals. Evelyn was friendly, working hard at the hotel. Nice owner Ana. The price was great. Quiet location on the outskirts of downtown area. Warm in the common area.

We had no room service, had to empty the bathroom trash (toilet paper) ourselves. No staff around to talk too, I finally called the owner who had somebody come clean the room and bring new toilet paper.

• Martijn (2/5): Not so nice - Location is within walking distance of everything you need. Sheets and towels were clean. The entire place was very damp. There is hardly any outside air flowing into the hostel, which in a humid environment is terrible. Our private room got absolutely disgustingly damp and smelly. While you see windows on the photos, and they are there, they all open up to the central hallway so that doesn’t provide any relief. There is no staff on-site and there were hardly any other guests, so this does not feel like a hostel. We didn’t meet anyone while staying here. It felt completely abandoned. At check-in we were greeted by a young man who didn’t speak English, which is fine, although he wasn’t able to explain anything about the place, and after that we didn’t see anyone else for the duration of our stay. To make up for a lack of staff they have cameras everywhere. One camera was positioned on the hallway in such a way that it also peeked into our room. Not great for privacy, so we had to leave the curtains closed, blocking what little fresh air came in through the window. The kitchen wasn’t very clean either. Most cooking utensils and pots were damaged and it smelt very greasy, like a college dorm. We wouldn’t recommend staying here and were glad we could leave at 5:30am for our transfer. Needless to say, we didn’t leave a tip in the tip box that was set up inside our room.
• Xiaorui (9/5): I had a wonderful stay in Nice Place Hostel for several days. The place has my minimum needs and is worth the price. - The place is on the edge of La Fortuna downtown, convenient place with many good restaurants close by. We had one room with 3 beds with A/C, very economical to save on hotel cost for a family who do not need luxury. Owner is very nice and respond to my messages quickly. The street is quiet and we had very good sleep there. The hanging glass top above the toilet is the only thing that we can use to put our hygiene stuff on. I hit my head on the extruding glass top several times. My floss even slides into the toilet. Guests may need to pay attention to avoid being close to the glass top.
• Kathrine (6/5): Ok for a short stay. - The location was great. Close to town but a few streets back from the main centre so it was quiet. Fantastic staff and really helpful. The communal kitchen had everything that was needed and it was clean. It was hot and stuffy. I had an air cooler and a fan but they were so noisy. It was necessary to have them on whenever I was in the room. I was there for two days and never a saw the fans working in the kitchen area. I tried to turn them on but with no success. Smoking is allowed on the property in the courtyard but the smoke wafts through the whole place.

• Michael (7/5): Good - Close to everything in town. Nice staff, clean hostel. The kitchen is very big and offers a lot of kitchen utensils and storage in the fridges. Our room was very sticky and hot during the nights, and the AC either didn't work or was so loud we barely slept.
• Justyna (10/5): Amazing hostel in La Fortuna - The manager Annah is an amazing host and source of local information and services at the right price!! The place is really clean and well located away from the city center noise. It is a great hostel to stay while visiting La Fortuna.

Our room had a window but it was in the corridor, so not so private. It was relatively warm because of that as well. Fans worked. The room was really small. The common area was a bit dirty but only the floor and not bad.

• Anonymous (10/5): It really is a nice place! - The kitchen area is great if you are backpacking and want to cook your own food. The hotel staff are so friendly and helpful. This small quiet hostel is in perfect location just a 5 min walk to the bars and restaurants in La Fortuna. I would highly recommend this hostel. It really does live up to its name of a Nice Place! Nothing. I had a great stay.
• Edward (8/5): Great stay! - We had air on in our room which we weren’t expecting. The room was big and lots of cooking appliances with a big kitchen. Walking distance from centre of town. Good restaurants nearby. Nothing serious just communal area was super hot in the evenings
• Stephanie (5/5): Good for a short stay - Owner was very nice and often had a friend visiting who spoke English to us to translate. Kitchen space is big and clean, lots of cutlery/pans etc. Small hostel so it doesn't get busy, very quiet. You get what you pay for, it was very cheap. But the room had only a fan and no window so no ventilation. In hind sight I'd have paid more to stay somewhere with a better way to cool off.
• Pien (6/5): Okay - The lady in the front of the hostel was very kind and the hostel was located near to the city center! The shower was also warm. The hostel was very cheap, which was nice! The AC was present but did not work properly. I thought the room was not hygienic, e.g.; mold in the shower and a used condom next to the bed. We experienced extreme noise complaints the first night, people were drinking beer until 4 in the morning in the common area.

Room was ok ( see below about fan) kitchen was well kept, but maybe I was lucky with the guests who were there, It was hardly manned only to get the money from us. We had a key to get in and out of main door .Room was ok but the fan was poor and so really hot in the room. A little grubby.

• Jan (7/5): mixed feelings - This one is tough to judge, because the owners have done the best they probably could to offer as comfy accommodation as possible. Honestly, the quality of beds and the pillows was better than in all 4 star hotels we have ever stayed in Costarica. The only reason we stayed here for 1 night was the fact that the whole town was basically booked out as we chose a bank holiday weekend and we had no idea. Booked it as a last minute option cause we did not want to end up sleeping in a car. The rooms have no windows that open into an outside space but only into a hallway so fairly claustrophobic, but as I already mentioned the bed was super comfy. Our room was right next to social area with open space kitchen so we knew and smelled everything people were eating there or cooking.... really hard to give a review as it is a big mix of big pros fighting with big cons. Overall definitely OK for 1 overnight we needed
