Guest Reviews
- Tamás (1/5): - The place was nice, the breakfast and the dinner was amazing The main reason I’m giving this place 1 star is because the owners seem extremely greedy. They offer activities at double the actual price. For example, they charge 300,000 COP for a guide to the Monkey Sanctuary, but if you go to the town’s registration office you can arrange the same guide for about half that price.
We also had to cancel a night jungle walk and were charged 90,000 COP (about €23) for it, which I found unreasonable.
In addition, the bed was not comfortable. Although this is a very small town with only a few hundred people, there was a very loud disco playing late into the night. On top of that, roosters close to my room started crowing from around 3 a.m. until morning, so I ended up getting no sleep.
- emmanuelle (9/5): A nice place by the Amazon river in a small community - The place is great! La ceiba is situated in the lovely Mocogua community and the hosts will organise any visit you wish. The view on the Amazon from the room balcony with all the colorful birds flying around was just magic and the food was amazing!! The hosts are incredibly sweet and helpful.
Volveremos!
- Gesine (10/5): Eine tolle Erfahrung!
- Mcdonald (10/5): - Amazing views, helpful and kind staff who assisted with wonderful activities for me and my son. Enjoyed sharing meals with other travelers Nothing, highly recommend
- Godefroy (9/5): -
- ken (5/5): We enjoyed the experience of the Amazon but we would not go there again - Breakfast was very good, fresh fruit and eggs any way you wanted, plenty of coffee and fruit juice, unfortunately the stairs inside our bungalow were very dangerous, the treads were all different hieghts making it difficult to navigate, they ranged from 10cm to 30cm! The location was great, with boat access to Peru, and all the sights we wanted.
- giovanina (9/5): Excellent location and accommodation in an exceptionnal environnement. -
- Joachim (9/5): -
- Bartosz (9/5): Pleasnt stay - Clean ,neat ,friendly host
The connection from Leticia require quite a lot of time. Lack of ventilation . A fan inside the room would be recommended
Nada.
- Johannes (10/5): -
- Asciutto (8/5): Cool dive into the Amazon - The location, the fact that it is located in the mocagua community was a real authentic experience, you can pay with credit card but 6,8% commision on top Sharing bathrooms, you need to book well in advance to get rooms with views and bathrooms, also some excursions are too pricey.
- Thomas (10/5): Incredible stay in the Amazon! - Excellent location, staff were amazing and very friendly. Great river views. Comfortable room. Easy to organise tours. Excellent small tours. Food was great! They organised transport to and from the airport seamlessly
- Elodie (8/5): -
- Kim (9/5): Een ongelooflijke ervaring.
- Leanne (9/5): - I loved staying at La Ceiba and wish I could have had more than one night there. Friendly helpful staff, very clean and comfortable, a range of activities at reasonable prices. It has a lovely relaxed friendly atmosphere, created by guests sharing long tables for meals (I''m vegetarian and the food was so good!) Highly recommended.
- Bryan (10/5): -
- Jen (10/5): -
- Jaramillo (7/5): Overall it was great being so close to nature and the tour guides were great! - The hotel itself was great, beautiful view, we were on the top cabin, could see river, trees and many birds. It was beautiful to be in the middle of the jungle and feel the jungle and hear its sounds, food was pretty good . The manager , Maria , could have been more attentive, she was not as helpful, as we would expect from any lodging facility. Either she did not have the knowledge of the local processes or did not want to share it,. There was also a discotec in the community that plays loud tecno and other typew of music , quite loud, until 2 or three in the morning. Rhankfully this only happens on Saturday nights.
- Brina (10/5): - Really nice location with a great view of the river and nature. We really enjoyed our stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Meals were good. What we liked the most are tours they offer. Specially the Peru one was great. They really take time and show you everything.
Internetverbindung rechnen. Was allerdings total nachvollziehbar ist aufgrund der Lage.
- Valentina (9/5): -
- Alba (10/5): - Todo.
- Katherine (10/5): Contact with nature 100% - We traveled in April in the rainy season, we had Excellent view to the river. There is a lot of birds to see in the wild around the property. We did the walking in the jungle at night and visited the rehabilitation monkey foundation, both were guided by indigenous that were locals and counted with all the expertise. The food in the accommodation was very good, we tried new fruits and enjoy our time We like everything and we were sad when leaving!
- Pierre (10/5): -
- Maximilian (10/5): -
- Isabella (9/5): -
- Malgosia Plonski (10/5): Amazing Amazonas - We felt very welcomed by the community. We took few of the excursions offered by La Ceiba, again, really thoroughly enjoyed the guides and what they showed us. We had excellent meals every day. This was our second time in Mocagua, would not hesitate to come back again. Be aware of mosquitoes while outside, the accommodation has mosquito nets in bedrooms
- Hanna (10/5): Pleasent, peaceful and surprisingly beautiful rooms. - The staffs work attitude , respectful and not pushy, always taking care of little details which makes a stay relaxing. Cleanliness top notch. Food cooked with love and with local produce. You can see that the cook is passionate of her each dish and dessert. The stay was too short (3days)
- Fred (10/5): -

- Andrew (8/5): Great and comfortable place from which you can explore the Amazon. - The location is great for exploring the Amazon, as you can go up or down the river for various experiences, and there are trails all around the village for guided hikes. There are a lot of activities available through La Ceiba, and the staff and guides are very nice and clearly want you to enjoy your stay. We really appreciated the time we spent with the guides, the wonderful kitchen staff at meals, and general interactions with the community. They are proud of their village and their jungle and enjoy sharing it with you. The WiFi internet is great - I saw a Starlink terminal on the roof. Rooms were clean and tidied up daily by the staff. There is no A/C or hot water in the shower, but that was expected and fine with us. Power runs from about 6am to 10pm. Rubber boots were provided for all activities involving walking through the muddy jungle. For the price they charge, they need to begin accepting credit cards. Their website says they don’t because they don’t accept cards because they don’t have connection there, but there is a cell tower in the village (Claro and Tigo work fine) and they have a Starlink terminal and excellent WiFi. We knew this before we went and brought what we thought would be plenty of cash, but we ended up adding some activities and changing others because of weather. So we were short by a few hundred thousand Colombian pesos and had to have a local friend do a transfer for us. It’s 2025 and they have the resources to begin accepting credit cards - and they should. The person in charge of organizing activities and handling the bill is very nice but doesn’t have any authority - everything has to go through the owner of La Ceiba, who is somewhere else. Other recommendations: prepare the final bill before dinner on the final night (we had to pay in hurry at 6:30am when the boat for departure was coming at 7am) to avoid questions and issues. Another group spent 2 hours on their final night trying to resolve payment issues, because they, too, didn’t have enough cash. One small, last recommendation: provide a clothesline on the room balconies to dry and air out clothing. Everything gets very damp with the extreme humidity, even when it’s not raining.
- Lukasz (8/5): - Napewno sama lokalizacja i magia Amazonii robi robotę! Stosunek ceny do jakości pozostawia sporo do życzenia.
- Julie (10/5): Unique amazing experience! - We had a very good time here. We are Canadian so we only stayed two nights because we are not accustomed to the heat (no A/C) but other than that we would have enjoyed doing more of the activities. We enjoyed the dolphins and a walk in town. The people in the community were friendly and welcoming and there is a little museum which is very interesting to get a sense of the community.
At the hotel Elizabetta and her colleagues took good care of us when we needed something. We borrowed binoculars, and they ran to the store for us once when we asked for a soda (turns out they don’t carry that, just water).
It’s an ecolodge, so if you don’t come expecting a 5 star hotel, and you can be a gracious guest in a native community, you will enjoy. Speaking a little Spanish will really helped us.
- Amy (10/5): Once in a lifetime experience - Located in a beautiful part of the Amazon just two hours from the main port of Leticia . The facilities were great with tours available with guides from the local village. We would reccomend the sloth tour located on an island across the Amazon river . Ask for Hermogenes the local guide from Peru who was amazing . Make sure that you use mosquito spray as the mosquitos during this tour were particularly savage. We were eaten alive .
This hotel was located in a small village of Mocgua with roughly 900 people living there. Everyone was very welcoming and the location was stunning. Nothing was too much trouble .
The food was amazing ! Every single breakfast lunch and dinner ! The staff could not do enough. Such a great experience and we will return one day! We had a family of 4/5 bats in the corner of our room 😆 which we discovered after the first night - use the mosquito net around the bed to avoid them coming in 😆🤣 all part of the fun!
- Beatrice Maria Rugiada (10/5): Beautiful - I had an amazing experience at La Ceiba in Amazonas! The staff were absolutely lovely and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. I truly appreciate their efforts in supporting the local community and taking such good care of the dogs—it’s heartwarming to see the animals so well looked after and healthy.
The food was absolutely delicious, and the entire place was spotless. The beds were super comfortable, making it easy to rest after a day full of lovely activities. The community of Mocuagua is incredibly clean and beautiful, adding to the overall charm of the experience.
Thank you, La Ceiba, for creating such a welcoming and caring environment.
- Dave (10/5): A very special place with a wonderful community - Wow! What an incredible place and such wonderful staff. Located in the heart of the Amazon, surrounded by nature. Accommodation perfect, great breakfast and so easy to book various trips. Very organised. Nothing. It was perfect.
- Santiago (10/5): Will have to come back soon! - Amazing indigenous community deeply focused on preservation and sustainability. Exceeded my expectations. Stunning location and extremely nice people. Honestly, I liked everything about that experience.
- Olga (10/5): I love this place. - La Ceiba is a magical place run by warm, smiling, and helpful people. Staying there is not just about accommodation – it’s a true experience that lets you embrace the spirit of the Amazon. The hotel also offers tours, giving you the chance to fully explore the wonders of the jungle and the Amazon River.
I rarely give a 10/10 rating, but this place absolutely deserves it. We spent 4 unforgettable days there, and I am certain I will return.
I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique and authentic experience. The only minor drawback is that payments are cash-only, but considering the remote location in the heart of the Amazon, it’s something you can easily prepare for in advance.
- Terry (10/5): Mocagua is a little paradise on the Amazon River and La Ceiba is the perfect base to soak it in and explore. - Spent 4 nights here and had a brilliant time. Mocagua is a little paradise on the Amazon river and La Ceiba is a perfect base to soak it in and explore the area. Maria arranged a guide for us (he met us in Leticia - it’s quite awkward to get to boat terminal etc so having someone local made it a lot easier, his name was Romain and was brilliant). Loads of activities to do and the food was simple but delicious- if you are hungry between meals can go and grab a fresh sweet mango that has fallen off a tree! Rooms are basic (no air con and limited electricity) but this adds to the authenticity of the experience. I’d definitely recommend La Ceiba to experience La Amazonas.
- elisabetta (10/5): - Posizione, pulizia, gentilezza , organizzazione attività Nulla

- antonella (6/5): True Amazon experience but make sure that your boat has been fueled - Staff is very friendly and we enjoyed most of the activities experienced under the recommendations and guidance of Maria and Manuel, the owners, namely: fishing experience on the Amazonas river, dolphin sighting, crafting our basket and bracelets with an artisan of the village. We would have rated 10 the stay, unfortunately on the way back the platform which would have allowed us to get on the "Amazon rapid boat" to Leticia the small boat arranged by La Ceiba had not been fueled. We discovered too late as remained still, with no fuel, stranded by the Amazon river current. We are a family with a 8yrs old boy. It was dangerous and we panicked. Somehow we managed (paid 20'000 pesos to a boat passing by) but when we sent a message to the La Ceiba owners to highlight the issue to make sure that it does not happen again we did not get any message back.
Zero apologies.
This was disappointing and left us with a bitter-sweet feeling since.
