Guest Reviews
- Eric (1/5): Lousy - I never got to experience this hotel, because 4 hours before arrival, my reservation was cancelled and forced me to scramble and find something else. Terrible. Invest in your hotel and communicate earlier and better

- Reyes (8/5): Jose was very kind and supportive also with tours we wanted to do - It offers a stay full of nature and freshly made breakfast We stay in a 5 people room with one toilet which resulted a bit tight

No servía Claro TV
- Levente (10/5): i had a great stay - great location, clean, comfortable -
- Sofia (7/5): Escape in the nature - The location is quite unique, beautiful view, fully surrounded by nature. Extremely quiet and silent, very peaceful.
Included breakfast is nice to have considering that the hotel doesn't have any café bar options next to it.
The owner Jose is very kind and welcoming, he shared many useful tips, he helped us with carrying the luggage to the bus station on the day we left. The room we got was on the ground floor surrounded by trees and plants, which means that it was always in the shade, with no view. The room was extremely humid and there was a lot of mold on the walls. The bathroom and windows/doors are quite dated, they deserve a refurbishment, especially because the room has a lot of openings to the outside forest and bugs of any sort get inside easily.
If you can book one of the rooms on higher floors, probably everything is perfect.
- Eléna (9/5): - A fonctional hotel that I would recommend in Salento for those who look for simplicity. Close to the city center with a 10min walk, far away enough to be calm. Jose is such a nice host. We slept like babies
- Solenn (9/5): -
- Diana (10/5): A Hidden Gem with Heart. Support Local! - The place is fantastic, a hidden gem. José, the owner, is a wonderful person; he made us breakfast, which was delicious. He produces his own coffee, and it’s absolutely amazing. Brayan, one of the staff members, helped us with our luggage and guided us to the property.
The hotel is not luxurious, it offers just the essentials: a comfortable bed, a shower, Wi-Fi, and a spectacular view. It’s peaceful, and all you hear are the sounds of nature.
To reach the hotel, you need to walk about 400 meters on a cobblestone path. It might not be ideal for elderly guests or for those who dislike walking.
Without a doubt, I’ll stay here again the next time I visit Salento. The place is so pleasant that the plan could simply be to stay there all day, sipping coffee and chatting with José.
Please support local people. Many foreigners and companies have bought properties, displacing the locals—José is one of the few remaining, and he’s absolutely worth supporting! Everything was amazing!
- Anna (1/5): Bad - Not much to like as the reservation was done once arrived they told us it i not room for us Lack of communication and host extremely greedy taking to many reservations and deny us the opportunity to stay. Furthermore did not sort anything out and had to book a different acomodación terrible service
Do not recommend
- Chitra (9/5): Superb - Cut off from the rest of town, brisk 15 minute hike with steep uphill, downhill walk. Gets messy during rain. If you have luggage and don't want to walk, do not book this hotel. Good basic breakfast. The room view is stunning. Lot of bird watching and very peaceful. Access to the property from town is a pain in the ass
- Jesse (10/5): Great! - We had an excellent stay at this lovely place. The views from the compound are astounding, it feels like you are in the middle of the jungle despite being only 8 minutes away by foot from Salento. Highly recommend! The road to the can be a little bit slippery when it rains. However, we did not have any issues
- Alexander (10/5): Great place - Great place
- Jordan (10/5): Best in Colombia - Amazing place, our favourite in all of Colombia. Beautiful views, nature, and craftsmanship. Nothing.
- Walker (8/5): Perfect if you want quiet near fabulous landsscapes - Fabulous location. Friendly and helpful owner. Clean and comfortable and spacious room. It was lovely as it was away from the town but a steep climb to get to town and no facilities. We had to go to town to buy water snacks drinks etc.
- Joanna (8/5): Perfect for a peaceful few days in Salento - Beautifully quiet and peaceful location. Best shower! Breakfast of eggs and toast with fruit, hot drinks and juice was included in the price too. Our bags were dropped off in town to save us walking up with them. Wasn’t aware we had to pay in cash and beds were a little hard for our liking too.
- Lewis (10/5): Beautiful location, just keep in mind that it’s a short walk on an unpaved, yet totally safe path outside the city cente - Incredible view, really great and helpful host!
- Michele (8/5): Very good -
- Sonja (8/5): Very good - It's a great place to relax outside of town. We saw many many beautiful birds on the property! It seems like an unfinished project. They could do so much more with the place!
- Marcin (9/5): Superb - Beautiful surroundings - you can see a beautiful landscape and all kinds of colourful birds through the window or on the terrace.
- Colm (10/5): Exceptional -
- Egidijus (9/5): Superb - Loved that it was like 10 minutes away from the town itself. So it was quiet and peaceful. The view was gorgeous too. Probably that you have to walk down to it via dark road (short walk though). You might encounter dogs along the way. Might feel uncomfortable.
- Kathleen (9/5): Superb - Gorgeous setting
- Aleksandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jae (8/5): Very good -
- Aleksandra (9/5): Superb - Everything was just great, with stunning views and very nice and welcoming staff :) Would definitely recommend this place for staying in Salento!
- Oliver (10/5): Exceptional - Great host, beautiful view and great hot shower! Prior reviews spoke about a bit of hike to get there, but we found it to be short and no issue
- Diana (8/5): Gorgeous stay in the middle of nature - This is the most beautiful location I stayed so far in Colombia. Just outside of time right in the middle of nature. Absolutely gorgeous and incredibly quiet. Only the sounds of nature.
The room I had was big with a huge balcony, good shower and the normal breakfast. All the people I met working there were super friendly! For me it was no issue, but you really have to be aware that the location is not only a 10-15 minute walk out of town but also quite streep downhill coming from and uphill going to town. If you have suitcases you need to check with the owner if the motorbike is available to bring it down and up again. Also if you travel alone and you do not like being alone in a remote location, this is not for you. Part of the road is also not lit at night, but very safe!
- Gennaro (7/5): Good -
- Kolbe (10/5): Exceptional - The property is just insanely beautiful! The view and the sunset are breathtaking. The rooms are very spacious and have their own very large balcony with a wonderful view. We had the best shower in Colombia here. And there is also a super equipped kitchen. And last but not least the host José is super nice and helpful! We definitly recommend this place!
- Cristian (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - Friendly service, beautiful and quiet location The hike to town. This was expected but got a little tiring after 3 days. Also the WIFI was a little temperamental
- Tove (10/5): A good place to stay in Salento. - The breakfast was excellent, and the location was beautiful surrounded by hills and trees where the birds were singing in the morning. A good place to relax. Nothing.
- Marius (8/5): Very good - Very remote location, requires 15 minute walk to the main square and 10 minutes to the city. Hostal only recommended if looking for a remote location
- Sebastian (8/5): Very good -
- Nadine (9/5): Very friendly host and good value for money. - Beautiful views and very friendly owner. Showed me where to walk around the property and kept my husband topped up with coffee when he had to work. Good breakfast. Room got quit dusty, but this is due to the location.
- Marian (9/5): Very quiet, lovely location - The location is absolutely beautiful. It is very quiet (except for the noises of nature) and peaceful. The place was clean, breakfast was simple but good (the coffee was fantastic) and the owner Jose is very kind and helpful. Salento isn't that big of a town but it is still busy, and staying a little further out of town was nice. The hotel is located on a protected dirt/rock walking path that cars are not allowed on. In distance, it is a short walk (maybe.25 miles?). However, the walk is very steep (downhill to the hotel and uphill into Salento). Without packs or suitcases it's about an 8 minute strenuous walk into town. With packs, it is a REALLY good workout! But it's doable. I wouldn't recommend doing this walk with suitcases. Jose is very good about communication about the path so you know where you are going. If you don't mind a good leg workout every time you want to go into town, then this place is worth it! Also, the path is very safe to walk at night if need be.
- Alba (1/5): I don’t recommend it to anyone! - Nothing, there is no way to access to the hotel They should be honest that there is no access by car and the way is very dangerous.
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shari (10/5): We loved the idyllic setting and felt our stay here was great value for money! - This property was just outside of the city, with a gorgeous view of the surroundings. The apartment was clean and spacious, and our host was very kind and attentive. The breakfast was good too! The hotel is accessed by a historical road that is closed to traffic. We enjoyed the short hike (5 mins, inclined) but is should be noted before booking.
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (8/5): Very good - Friendly owner, quite place during the night, nature around A place where to dry clothes during the rainy season would be great.
- Devon (8/5): Very good -
- Sander (10/5): Exceptional - José is extremely nice and helpful.
Very clean and spacious room, comfortable beds, great shower with warm water.
Very quiet and peaceful place surrounded by nature. .
- Camille (9/5): Superb - The place is located in a beautiful forest setting, ideal for a quiet stay, listening to birdsongs and spoting them too! 😀 the room was large, could use a closet to unpack a bit, but else very comfortable. Nice breakfast and good tips from the owner. Would recommend 👌
The property even has its own little camino through the native forest. The distance from city centre on an unpaved road with no light (where cars can't go ) made me miss the evening vibe of town, but as i was there for a relaxing moment, it was exactly what i was looking for!
Could use a softer light as well for reading...
And signs on the way down to indicate that one is on the right track!
- Eze (1/5): Worst experience ever - I was not able to use the service It's impossible to access the place. You need to walk a long way to get there. But that was not the worst thing....when we arrived, and after walking to get to the place in the night with not even one light, they never showed up. We needed to go back and look for an alternative hotel. I don't recommend this place at all.
- Patrick (9/5): Wonderful little hostel in a beautiful and peaceful location. - Very friendly people who ran the place, very attentive to our needs. Amazing location with lovely views and lots of birds literally outside our bedroom window. Delivered our bags back to the bus station. Bit of a slog to get there on a track and steep path. But super quiet as a consequence. The pillows are a bit big which gave my partner neck ache. Appreciate you cannot please everyone in this regard.
- Amir (10/5): Other than 10 minutes walk from Salento, you won't find better place than this. - Beautiful view, very nice host. Nice clean and modern rooms.
- Wieske (10/5): Paradise in Salento - Best place to stay! Super friendly people and a really beautiful spot in nature really close to Salento but it feels like being in the middle of nature. It's only a 10 minutes walk along a nice path were we often saw beautiful birds. The room was comfortable with a very good shower. Fantastic view from the bedroom window and terrace. Breakfast was good , and the two man working in the hostel very kind. There is a kitchen you can use.
- Amir (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wezzerly (9/5): Fantastic location with amazing views. - Spacious and clean room on top floor with terrace overlooking lush hillside. Comfortable bed, hot water and multi channel TV. Wi-Fi was OK. Beautiful location surrounded by vegetation with amazing views. A hard 10 minute walk uphill along a dirt track to the town. Good breakfast of fruit and yoghurt or eggs and bread. All was good.
- Susanne (9/5): Great place in Nature - A wonderful place in nature to stay. The views over the valley are beautiful. Jose is very friendly and ready to help. The walk to the village is a 10 minute climb or descent. Your luggage can be collected and brought by moped. Great shower, good beds. Excellent price/quality. The wifi didn't work during our stay.
- Crystal (9/5): Superb - Peaceful and great scenery. Still close to town ( 10 minute walk) but I felt like I was deep in the forest. Great experience
- Camila (6/5): Nice place for birdwatching, missing some hostel atmosphere - Its a quite place and has a nice view.
The room has a balcony and there warm water for a hot shower.
There was no problem to stay longer. The kitchen was quite messy, in some parts a bit disgusting.
Apparently breakfast is one day egg with arepa, bread and hot chocolate and the next day only fruits with some avena drink, which is definately not a full breakfast. Talking with the staff we got full breakfast on the other days.
And a recommendation for the owner :) it would be nice to have some more hooks in the room for drying wet clothes as the weather in Salento is quite changing.
- Daniel (10/5): Fantastic - after a little walk out of town ~10 minutes, it’s well worth it to be in such a beautifully secluded spot overlooking the hills! The room was spacious, clean, had the best shower of our trip so far and Carlos was very kind and welcoming! Nothing- just be sure to have a phone light or torch to walk down the track after dark.
WiFi was off and on but we didn’t need it to enjoy ourselves!
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location. What a peaceful place in the middle of nature. around 15min walk to the city centre. Be aware that there are no lights on the way but it's not a problem since every cellphone has got a flashlight. It's save to walk even at night.
There are only 3 rooms, so it's nice quiet, no party.
Really clean room, comfortable bed right next to the window, so you can get wake up by birds and with the sun in your face.
- Nathalia (8/5): Very good -
- Max (10/5): Exceptional -
- Treewisdom (10/5): Beautiful place just far enough away from Salento to have the best of both nature and town life. - The location is great if you want the benefits of being near Salento while also enjoying silence and beautiful views. The staff is very welcoming and owner readily available for any questions. I ended up extending my stay here and would return on my next trip to Salento.
- Elena (9/5): Amazing view - Location is beutiful, the view is amazing, good breakfast The outside light during all night was very annoying
- Ignacio (9/5): Superb - Norberto was super helpful and cooked great breakfast. Great location 10 minutes away from Salento.
- Maria. (8/5): Nice stay in the middle of nowhere - Nolberto is a very kind, respectful and knowledgeable host! We enjoyed his hospitality a lot. Gracias!!
Good breakfast and beautiful view from the room and terrace. The room was nice and had separate bathroom with hot shower. We could use the kitchen. Help with luggage transport from/to the bus station. Unfortunately the beds were really uncomfortable for us. The windows need moscito nets, the toilet seat was partly broken (ouch, my popito!). It can get quite cold at night, a small heater would have been nice (but there are thick blankets).
The way down is really steep so think about it twice if you want to go out again for dinner.
- Jane (8/5): Nice place just out of town - Everything was pretty good - a nice location, although a bit of a distance outside of the town. The view was lovely. The rooms were quite comfortable. The fruit breakfast I had on the 2nd day was great.. I was a bit surprised that no one seemed to know I was coming.
