Guest Reviews
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Hannah (10/5): - The owners were very accommodating with my check in time. The property is lovely and right near a bunch of hiking trails and a beach. The spa is nice, and the bed was very comfy! I wish I could have stayed longer but it was a very short trip for me.
- Joseph (10/5): -
- Barry (10/5): -
- Cecilia (10/5): Peaceful retreat to connect with nature, one another, and to calm yourself. - We really enjoyed our stay here. As the only guests, what we enjoyed the most was the very special spa area, complete with hot tub, sauna and more. In particular, the views to the forest from the hot tub made this a very calming and spiritual experience. We sincerely recommend it to anyone looking to unwind and connect with nature. That we only stayed for one night!
- Charles (8/5): very relaxing with a marvellous ambience. - The kitchen/lounge room supplied with fresh breads, egs and other edibles was excellent no suggestions here.
- Ronald (9/5): -
- Matt (8/5): - Communication from the host was prompt and friendly.
- Makiko (9/5): Beautiful setup in the forest. Very clean room and facility for sauna, steam room and hot tab. It’s great that you can b - Sauna, steam room and hot tab in the forest I could hear the sound of the next door not too loud as I couldn’t go to sleep but noticeable
- Marzieh (9/5): I really enjoyed my stay at the 5 elements. - The location was very peaceful and cozy. The breakfast was good as well, everything local. The owners are very hospital and nice. A little bit of noise from the folks staying upstairs as the structure is wood.
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Mrunalini (10/5): -
- Stepaniuk (10/5): You want it! They got it! - Everything. That I don’t live here.
- Freya (10/5): - Such a beautiful location! surrounded by lush forest
- Qu (10/5): -
- Leslie (10/5): -
- Angela (10/5): - The breakfast and the location is great, we loved the forest, the beach is 15 min walking and the spa is 10/10. It is the best option if you are looking for a quite place.
- Darla (7/5): - The host was very pleasant and showed us everything we needed . We did not use the spa but am sure it would have been delightful. The breakfast was nice and fresh It was a bit pricey
- Durant (8/5): The owner was very helpful in explaining the property. - It was a self serve breakfast. It was nice to chat with other folks staying at the facility.
- Annick-Patricia (9/5): -
- Crystl (8/5): - Outdoor spa, quiet forest, short trail to beach, nice breakfast items - local and homemade. Sound through the walls
- Stephanie (9/5): A lovely stay at 5 Elements! - The location was beautiful! Extremely peaceful, quiet and it was nice to be away from the town center. The room was extremely clean and very comfortable. Lots of extra blankets and pillows. There is a communal kitchen and living space where there's a fridge and basic amenities for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Everything was superb!
これはbooking.com側のせいなのか、、?
- Christian (8/5): Interessante Erfahrung.
- Mayo (6/5): - steam room was good
our room was large enough, would prefer the bedroom not at the front door. quiet time supposed to be til 8am
we are early risers and we're warned that noise travels easily.
Not used to making our own breakfast and doing the dishes.
Not used to removing shoes in all indoor areas. Hard to do when you are older.
Did not like the tax not being shown on Booking . Com.
- Darla (9/5): - I liked that it was a retreat style place very Zen We had a crying baby next to us which made the night less restful
- Dianne (9/5): -
- Tom Bakan (10/5): - The hosts, Michael & Dana, were very gracious and welcoming. Really enjoyed the hikes around property, spa area, and watching sunsets near their B&B. Great place to stay!
- Megan (10/5): -
- Caroline (10/5): -
- Rumley (8/5): -
- Javier (9/5): - Amazing hosts, nice breakfast, clean big spacious rooms, clean and nice toilets.
- Melanie (10/5): Unique experience in beautiful setting - Breakfast was great. Lovely fresh eggs!! Spa was really nice in a great setting!
- Wendy (10/5): -
- Laura (10/5): Quiet, beautiful place to heal - The Lodge, spa and owners were so lovely...I would absolutely come back every year. Very accommodating, flexible, and incredible communication. Such a beautiful place to relax and heal.
- April (9/5): Lovely retreat close to nature - Secluded in nature with great amenities. We loved the privacy and generously stocked kitchen, friendly host and simple comforts. The beach on Sunset Drove was a short walked and the water warm to swim in, gorgeous sunset. Steep hill was a challenge to cycle up to property. Of course we were aware of this beforehand.
- Glenys (10/5): Beautiful relaxing stay. Spa area is a real treat. - It was a beautiful quiet location. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Owner is friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for a quiet getaway, Transportation around the island is tough to find and expensive without your own vehicle
- Carolyn (10/5): Unique property with so much to offer! - Step out the door onto hiking trails and less than a mile to a rocky beach with gorgeous views. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was hot with great water pressure. Make-your-own breakfast included just about any food, beverage, and cooking utensil you could want.
We took advantage of the hot tub/sauna/steam room (one hour of private time is included in your stay). We did not use the yoga/fitness studio because our stay was brief, but I wish we’d stayed a little longer so we could have used it.
Michael (our host) gave us a great overview of the property and facilities. He was helpful and friendly, without being intrusive. Great communication from hosts before our arrival. The driveway to the property is very steep, although we managed just fine in an SUV. It might be tough if you have a low-riding sports car, but otherwise you’d be fine.
- Mukhtar (9/5): Superb -
- Jean (9/5): Nature surrounding and friendly host - Breakfast and surroundings Driveway to the house is bumpy for a small car
- Sauder (10/5): Absolutely how a Bed and Breakfast should be. Michael and Dana were excellent hosts. - Michael and Dana were excellent hosts. I felt very welcome and had a great experience. The Spa was a great bonus and it was great to have a breakfast included in a Bed and Breakfast. Top Marks. Nothing.
- Watling (10/5): A perfect place to relax and reconnect with ourselves and one another. - A beautiful serene place for us to relax, reconnect, and disconnect from the hustle of everyday life. Nothing, it was great
- Tomoko (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roberta (8/5): Forest B and B, good value. - Very quaint, Woodsy, forest setting. Nice down to earth host/ owners. Nice breakfast with fresh eggs and baking. Great hiking base. kewl sauna area and free to use. We had a very private deck and enjoyed sitting by the forest. Noise from above in apt,, property did warn us.. not to bad.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): Great location and great hosts. - I made my own breakfast, so it was perfect.
- Liu (9/5): Superb -
- Trevor (8/5): Peaceful - Quant relaxing place with a friendly host. Willing to negotiate price for longer stays. I only got to stay one night. Hope to go back sometime.
- Ken (9/5): Superb - When doing the initial booking, there was no mention of a resort fee or a cleaning fee on Booking.com. It was a shock to see that our final invoice was almost 45% higher than expected, due to these fees.
- Ged (10/5): Exceptional - n/a
- John (10/5): What a beautiful peaceful place - Everything was great, especially the common room with kitchen and daily fresh bread, croissant, scones, fruit and cereal and eggs Nothing
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mcgee (9/5): Relaxing and quiet - Great trails. Great host. Great continental breakfast All good
- Mukha (10/5): I love the cleniness, tranquility and amenities - Amazing Everything
- Paige (9/5): Michael and Dana were wonderful hosts. So happy we found this piece of paradise! - Loved the hot tub, sauna, and steam room. Common room/kitchen was spacious and convenient. Beautiful location in the forest. Driveway was extremely steep, but worth the amazing retreat at the top!
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tara (6/5): It was ok - It was in a beautiful setting There was no sound proof between rooms. We could hear everything from the other room. Conversation and noise. Book the time for the spa but the hot tub was cold.
- Pat (7/5): Nice - Room was very clean and common room was always available and clean. I could hear the people talking very clearly from the next room so obviously they could hear me.
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the location in the forest, the do it yourself breakfast, our room looking out into the forest (it was snowing the morning we woke up, beautiful fluffy flakes) and 2 person hot tub with a starry night view deep in the woods was unreal. Also loved the unique gym/studio! It's a bit out of the way of amenities and such but really not a big deal as long as you have a vehicle.
- Carla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bairbre (8/5): Very good -
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and Micheal is super nice and helpful! Breakfast is also pretty good! Nothing
- Marta (10/5): Amazing place on SSI - Everything was just perfect! We loved the place so much! Nothing to report.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (10/5): Quick visit but would definitely stay again - Everything
Location very quiet and peaceful beautiful surroundings
Room clean and comfortable
Breakfast was amazing local produce and plenty of choice
Had outdoor spa facilities which unfortunately we didn’t have time to use but definitely a plus
Sunset down on the beach a must
- Artem (9/5): Weekend Getaway - Great amenities, comfortable beds, outdoor spa. Good communication from the hosts. Wish the entrance from the main road had some lights.
- Clark (8/5): Very good - Beautiful room and grounds, friendly staff very remote, not really a spa but a forested property with a small sauna and steam building. Shared cooking and eating area.
- Kayla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rainer (8/5): we enjoyed our stay! - We appreciated the 'rustic' feel and enjoyed the communal space (though we shared with only one other couple!). It reminded us of other positive experiences traveling. We feel that the spa aspect was more limited than expected, partly due to water shortages, and that the cost was a bit high given that the spa was less than it sounded like in the advertising. We think the 'down-home' quality is a very good handle.
On another topic, we recommend getting a couple of skillets that conduct heat better.
- Phyllis (6/5): Secluded and quiet. - Breakfast was ok. Had a good choice of cereal. Cupboards were labeled which made it easy to find things. We were the only ones there but I would imagine if there was a large group of people the room would have been crowded. You washed any utensils, pans, plates, etc. you used. There were nice trails. Very quiet. Price. We felt it was terribly overpriced. We didn't use the sauna, steam room, etc. We stayed here because it was difficult to find a place to stay for one night.
- Penny (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ratnaweera (9/5): Our stay here was relaxing, peaceful and the environment was really curated towards wellness - - the spa facilities
- comfortable bed
-relaxing environment
- breakfast - bit noisy if you are in the ground suite next to the kitchen
- Merrick (10/5): Stumbled upon this resort for a short Saltspring Island visit and found it perfect for my needs! - Tucked away in the Westcoast Rainforest, very secluded location for a quiet getaway. The hosts are very compassionate and were attentive to my special needs. The bed was comfortable and breakfast choices were good, especially the blueberry scones! Nothing negative to say.
- Miles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bettina (9/5): Superb - I liked the options available to create our own breakfast. We made waffles and enjoyed the strawberries and bananas provided to go with it.
We really enjoyed the sauna and steam room. Everything was very clean and the Eukalyptus spray was refreshing. I would recommend closing off the between suites door with foam insulation.
- Jackie (10/5): Just idyllic perfect - Peaceful clean Nothing
- Anne-marie (10/5): Great stay to rest on the island - Loved the shared kitchen with the amazing breakfast! The place was really clean and facilitiea comfortable - they thought of everything to make the stay convinient (robes, slippers, hooks, fully equipped kitchen, etc). It is about 15min drive from the "downtown" area and easy to get around. The spa facility is a great way to unwind at the end of the day. We had a great stay, though some parts of the suites are not as sound proof as other, but this didn't bother us as other guest were quiet and respectful.
- Gene (10/5): Exceptional - Everything is amazing!!! We will definitely come back.
- Iris (8/5): Very good -
- Joanne (8/5): Very good -
- Shen (10/5): Very quiet and comfortable place. It’s amazing! -
- Sandra (5/5): Rustic woods on 10 acres. Very quiet and we felt safe. Clean communal kitchen well privided. Sorry but could not refer t - The rooms newly painted and very clean. The beds were comfortable. The extremely steep entrance road on the property are full of potholes making a pretty nasty ride in. Advertising for this place is not truthful. It claims to be located in Fernwood and Fernwood is 8 k away. This facility is in a rural area at the top of the island. Advertised as spa. Spa needed to be set up for a visit to it. Sadly in advertising there was no notice that there would be an extra 75.00 added to our final bill even as we did not use it or ask the owner to put it on for us. Advertising as breakfast but nothing indicated that it was self serve. All of this is just fine but customers just need to know what they are being sold.
- Cassie (9/5): Exceptional. It really made our stay peaceful. - How welcoming the host was, how clean, peaceful and quiet it was Small request- perhaps a mini fridge in each suite
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sieglinde (4/5): Overpriced and not worth it. - Quiet Rickety narrow patio poorly maintained.
It was hot. There was air conditioning, but I don’t like it. So prefer sleeping with open windows. No window other than sliding door. No screen, so not possible to leave it open because of the mosquitoes.
Pillows were very large and too firm. My bad. I should have brought my own.
And there was a heavy quilt on the bed! No blanket. It’s summer, so that was just too warm.
No tv in the room. The room was basic. And photographed better than it truly was.
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location.
Great trails
Quiet
- Suejee (8/5): Very peaceful and felt like a retreat! Highly recommend. - Every home needs were available. The kitchen was fully equipped and the fridge had enough supplies to make life easier. The beds were comfortable. The steam room was hot. The cold outdoor shower was cold. Things were aged but well maintained. The first floor bedroom was cozy but if we did not have the lower section with the extra bed and couch, it would have been too small for 2 people. There was only two small chairs in that room. I would always book that room with the additional section.
- Nicole (10/5): This was by far the most memorable & relaxing stay I’ve had on Saltspring Island. I highly recommend this stay to an - Being welcomed & receiving the tour of the property was a wonderful intro to my weekend stay on the island. I loved everything! Michael & Dana have created such a relaxing & rejuvenating space that has everything a person needs to feel at home when staying at Five Elements.
- Joan (10/5): Exceptional - It was so peaceful and quiet. Saw an owl the second day there. You are right among the trees and wildlife. No TV, radio or loud music. Breakfast was perfect for us.
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Lori (9/5): It was an oasis from hectic city life and set up to provide guests with all they need to relax. - My daughter and I loved our stay and would have stayed longer if time had permitted. Danica and Eryk were very helpful and welcoming. The kitchen was a great feature with all of the essentials provided. The coffee in the morning and the meal set out was more than what we needed. Loved the farm fresh eggs option! I also loved the sauna and steam room. Sunset beach was a dream. We expected a traditional hot tub but adjusted our expectations and enjoyed bathing under the awesome trees.
- Bcpenny (9/5): Great spot for R&R - The surrounding forest and proximity to the beach. Not having a fridge or drink area in the room.
- Michele (3/5): Poor -
- Hannah (10/5): Cozy cabin vibes - Very cozy cabin feel. Also very clean. Great amenities on the property. There was no lotion to use after the shower.
- Boyd (7/5): Good - Rooms were nice and spacious, well heated. Advertised hot tub is not really a hot tub, but a standard tub outside.
