Guest Reviews
- Lionel (6/5): Pleasant - Site and view No access to the garden, former garage transformed in bedroom, dark ambiance
- Kulyk (9/5): Superb -
- Maynard (8/5): We enjoyed our stay very much, and would not hesitate to recommend to our friends, in fact we already did. Thank you to - Great location, quiet and convenient, comfortable bed and very clean. Lovely space! I would suggest a few more things, more silverware, wine glasses, small paring knife, flower vase, some facecloths, and a fan.
- Siebert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ray (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (4/5): Would probably not choose to stay in this location again - There was no breakfast at this location. On the positive the room was clean, bed was comfortable close to the venue I was attending. The kettle didn’t work. But mostly, I was disappointed in the amount of noise that was coming from upstairs.
- Brad (6/5): Convenient and clean. - Had to go for surgery at 6am at Royal Jubilee Hospital so the location to the hospital was perfect. Only 4 minutes away. Very Clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Nice view of the garden. Lilac and wisteria smelled beautiful. Mirror in the bathroom needs to be hung higher. Had to bend down to see myself. Shower pan was extremely slippery, dangerous even. Wisteria should be cut back on the path as we had to bend down to get in. Only streaming, no cable. No counter space in the bathroom for toiletries. No tea towels to dry dishes with.
- Hiroko (8/5): Very good -
- Giulio (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (7/5): Good - The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The location of the property is very convenient while still being removed from the downtown Victoria area.
- Leanne (7/5): Good -
- Mccartney (5/5): Fine for the price and location for our needs. - TV channels & no instructions. Lack of cutlery. Could use a small kitchen & chairs other than desk & folding chairs.
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheryl (7/5): Good - Location was key for us The wifi was quite spotty especially in the evening. Underneath the bed needed cleaning/vacuuming, very dusty.
- Montés (7/5): Good -
- Ali (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jenny (6/5): It was okay - I found the noise travelled from the upper suite to the BB unit.
- Lorraine (8/5): Very good - This is the third time we have stayed here and it is very comfortable. A great location as it is very near to where our granddaughter (a student at UVic) is living.
- Cullis (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Sonya (9/5): Excellent location close to University of Victoria - Affordable, bright, square footage and location Art work could be updated
- Nancy (9/5): Superb - location was easy to find TV channels were complicated, no local news
- S. (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely space, very clean, in a nice neighbourhood!
- Bruce (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (9/5): Clean, hassle free place with really comfortable bed and nice linens. - Easy, hassle-free. Stayed for one night with 8 year old daughter for short city visit. Suited purpose - all as advertised / expected. Easy pickup of keys from owner, and easy drop-off of keys after stay. Very nice bed linens and towels, and bed was very comfortable. Location for our purposes was good as we needed to be close the the SMU kids day camp venue. Very clean. Minor point - it was not make explicitly clear in the property description that there is an interior stairwell that joins the basement suite and the upstairs of the house (ie: there was a private entrance but this was not the only entrance to access the suite). Perhaps an obvious thing, and of course the interior stairwell was not used during our stay. WiFi was good enough for video calls but was not consistently strong (at some times it was slow and I switched to LTE mobile).
- Brandie (9/5): Superb - Loved the cat, Hunter! So sweet. Bed was comfortable. Mini fridge was great to store our snacks. Great value, lots of space. It is a lower room that is partially underground, so it was nice and cool during the hot weather. No chocolate/cookies or small fruit basket (other reviewers mentioned receiving)
- Victoria (7/5): Good -
- Bj (8/5): Very good - Peaceful, clean. A blanket instead of a thick duvet may be a more appropriate bedding in June.
It would be appreciated by guests if there were a notice posted that the shower water control is reversed, I.e. to get hot water, one must turn the handle to the right - to blue.
- Lorraine (8/5): Very good -
- Joan (9/5): Superb -
- Gary (9/5): It was very comfortable for our stay. - The outside (separate) entrance from the main part of the house. The room was clean and comfortable. A nice sitting area with comfortable couch and loveseat. Since the evenings were a little chilly, a small blanket (or throw) would be very nice to use while sitting on the couch to stay warm.
- Des (8/5): We enjoyed our time; peaceful haven during the stressful business we had to do. - Quiet, privacy. Easy access to beaches and downtown. Owners helpful, willl respond to special requests, no traffic noise, good place to go for an early morning walk. Close to Bolen books, Canadian Tire. Comfortable bed. A small fridge is provided and basic cutlery and dishes. It would be nice if they provided breakfast.
- Gordon (8/5): Very good - Clean Close to everything
- Kyle (8/5): Very good -
- Bernardo (9/5): A great stay! - The suite was very clean, spacious and so comfortable!!! Located near Hillside shopping center, in a quiet neighborhood, it had easy access to 2/3 bus routes.
I would recommend family and friends to stay here! We couldn't cook since the kitchen wasn't equipped with a stove or oven. But apart from that, everything was perfect!
- Janice (9/5): Superb - A spacious and clean suite with a garden view. Very clean and comfortable. Comfy bed and high quality linens. Upstairs kitty, Hunter came for a visit, which we really enjoyed! Close proximity to Hillside Mall, we would definitely stay again.
- Yan (9/5): Superb -
- Penny (8/5): A very good week in a comfortable place but disappointing kitchen equipment - the bed was comfortable, the seating exceptionally so, 2 reclining sofas
A nice view of the garden we knew it didn't have a full kitchen, but it really needed wine glasses, a salad bowl, full sized dinner plates and kitchen scissors. People will eat in and that was not so easy. We were forewarned and brought a bag of kitchen equipment
- Jessica (9/5): Cozy stay - Large space with good number of shelves and furnishings. Washroom was on the smaller side but has all the toiletries you need. Would appreciate more lighting near the bed.
- Jay (7/5): Victoria trip - Lots of space to stretch out and relax with a great big screen TV to unwind. There's a mini fridge, toaster, microwave and kettle that would allow one to fix simple meals or snacks. The hot chocolate, and caffeine options were a nice touch. The neighbourhood was peaceful and there's a pretty yard outside the windows.
Parking was convenient on the driveway and the location seems relatively close to most areas of the city if you have a car. The shower stall was a wee tight but exceptionally clean and that's more important than space, in my books! The suite might have benefited from a few hooks at the door and in the bathroom just for convenience sake and perhaps a nightlight but it was otherwise a great spot to rest our heads during our time on the Island.
- Nancy (10/5): Will try to book again if coming back to Victoria. - The location was easy to find. It was very quiet and central to everything we required Not a thing
- Carole (7/5): Clean, bright, convenient and affordable. - My husband was having surgery so the location was within walking distance of the hospital. It is a in a safe quiet neighborhood so I was quite comfortable walking alone. Everything was great but for a minor thing - the light in the kitchen area wasn’t working. Not a biggy as I could plug in a lamp close by.
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dov (10/5): Exceptional -
- Theo (9/5): Superb -
- Petr (8/5): Very good - Quiet location, outside the centre. All clean. Parking, WIFI. Easy check in (keys in box, instructions sent in advance). We would welcome better kitchen equipment (toaster, plates, dishwasher). Otherwise everything OK.
- Lorraine (9/5): We would definitely book there again in the future. - Spacious suite, very comfortable, lovely outlook onto garden, excellent location The kettle didn't work, so we microwaved water for our morning coffee. No shampoo/conditioner but I had luckily packed a small one just in case.
- Evelyn (8/5): Quiet just what I needed before my intense family visiting. - No breakfast provided. Bought my own fixings. Need a few small spoons that fit a small yougurt container. I had one but…. Need manual in simple clear words how to use tv controls. Thanks
- Wesam (8/5): Very good -
- Kristina (7/5): Comfortable and quiet stay in sizable bright location - Quiet location, enough facilities for tea/coffee making, sizable room with sofa and small coffee table, no hassle. We used public transport to get into town, i.e. location not central, however, quiet instead. We never saw the hosts. Seems a bit pricey for what we had, but we acknowledge it is in Victoria.
- Lori (8/5): Quite, comfortable suite for two. - Home was quite, excellent location, kitty greeting us in the morning was a nice touch. Kitchen amenities could do with enhancements, no garbage bags provided, utensils and dishware minimal.
- Fariborz (8/5): Great stay, good host, mediocre facilities - Clean and functional Small shower
- Matthew (7/5): Good - The room was nice and spacious. With off road parking and a private side entrance. The TV and free wifi were also nice to have. It would benefit from Air Conditioning. Fortunately the weather for us was only in the mid 20s but much hotter and we might have struggled. Would also have been nice to have some cooking facilities, more than just a microwave.
- Erel (7/5): good - i hope have breakfast
- Ursel (8/5): Very good - Great location, clean, bright, nice view over garden. Only 1 chair for a studio for 2. Absolute minimum in kitchen supplies. No wine glasses, no bowl to mix a salad, one cutting knife dull.
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sebastian (9/5): Recommended! 🙂 - Comfortable bed and a very quiet area. Check in, Checkout was made very easy at any time Small Bed for 2 persons - 1,40m
- Iselle (8/5): Very good -
- Tom (9/5): Excellent choice and would book again - Convenient, spacious and clean The shower water taps were backwards:)
- Elizabeth (8/5): comfortable, good location, good value - This is a ground floor suite in a house in a very good location. The suite is exactly as shown. The bed is very comfortable! It is quiet and has off street parking.
- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional - The place was in a great location. It was very clean, comfortable, quiet and easy to access. Liked it a lot. There was nothing that we didn't like.
- Roberto (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (8/5): Very good - Quiet, good bed dishes and cutlery -- 1 knife and 2 forks were it -- it would have helped to have a couple of spoons
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Calvin (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was wonderful, the place was very clean, the bed was very comfortable excellent seating area felt like home. They even provided coffee, tea along with fruit and cookies a nice Touch. Shopping and restaurants with in walking distance. Would highly recommend this place.
- Regan (5/5): Clean and comfortable basement suite - It was clean and the family overhead ensured that their kids were as quiet as possible and went to bed early.
The coffee was of surprisingly good quality 🙂 and there was a little fridge.
Probably good for student accommodation during the off season as it's so close to Camosun campus.
But pricey for an overnight stay in someone's basement. I ran the shower for a minute or two counting to myself but the hot water never kicked in.
And the path to the door was slightly hazardous for an older person.
- Hiroko (8/5): Very good -
- J (7/5): Good - Location. Value. Size of room, parking. Oranges and cookies were a nice addition. Room needed more lights especially on the left side of bed.
Room is in the walkout basement of an occupied home. Occupants footfalls were heard going about their business, which didn't bother us at all. Water in shower is hooked up backwards ( blue=hot, red=cold).
- Stephanie (9/5): Very comfortable and reasonably priced accommodation in Victoria for two people. - Bright, clean spacious room with a comfortable bed located in a quiet neighbourhood. A basket with oranges and cookies to greet you. Slippers by the door. Trouble with the lock.
- Axel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gayle (8/5): We enjoyed our stay in the suite and would recommend it. - The owner was very friendly and helpful. For being part of a house it was very quiet and peaceful. The suite was exceptionally clean and we really enjoyed having all the amenities in the room as if in a hotel.
My husband has a breathing problem and is not able to lay down flat in a bed for very long so the room worked perfect for us as there were recliners for him to relax and sleep in more of an upright position. It was tricky footing for us “old folks” to walk on the path to the back of the house. Being on a decline and gravel with stone made walking a little uneasy. Also, we came in after dark and found the lighting on the path too dim to see properly.
For all you able bodied “youngins” there would be no issue. 😁
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very comfortable home. - Very comfortable and spacious. Not soundproof. Bathroom could use a hook for hanging items.
- Tracy (9/5): Superb - Location lovely, the host left apples, shampoo, a blow dryer, little cookies & tea bags. Just enough to get you started the next morning if you got in late (which we did).
- Debbie (10/5): Clean, comfortable unit. -
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Needed to have a fan in the room also cooking facilities. The path steps leading to the entrance need attention not steady or level, a permanent path would be better. Overall lovely stay.
