Grazie mille

- Sascha Raphael (10/5): Amazing hospitality and impressive hikes!
- Andrew (10/5): An incredible place with incredible people! Our time at El Caminante with Marta and Alfredo was easily one of our top hi - The room accommodations were… functional. Don’t expect the world’s most comfortable bed or hottest shower (similar to the rest of Colombia), but this didn’t detract from our experience.

In poche parole tutto perfetto.

- Vanessa (10/5): Exceptional - They were kind and helped set up a delicious breakfast before we went on our hike. There was wifi and hot water in the room which was important to us. Room was comfortable and clean. It was a beautiful location with mountain views.
- Maximilian (10/5): Martha and her family are just the best hostesses we ever had! - They are just the nicest people, helped us with so much! The hiking tours with them were also amazing :) we absolutely loved it there. You also get plenty of blankets to stay warm during the night :)
- Lo (9/5): Superb - Great hostel, lots of common areas, great shared kitchen and beautiful location! Our room was clean and comfortable. We were traveling by bicycle and they accommodated our bicycles without any issue. We had a great stay. The shower had warm (ish) water which was welcome in the colder mountain weather.
- Erik (10/5): Restful - Cleanness
- Tristan (10/5): Nice refuge in the mountains - We loved our stay - everyone was so nice, and despite the weather not working out for us to tackle the hikes, we enjoyed our visit. The bed was great, the wifi was perfect, and it was a great place to meet cool people. Will definitely stay there again when we return in the dry season!
- Christoph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elimelech (10/5): מומלץ בחום - I had an amazing stay at this family-run hostel, managed by the wonderful Marta, who is also a fantastic tour guide. The place is creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere with breathtaking mountain views. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Martha’s kindness and hospitality went above and beyond, making us feel truly at home. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for comfort, cleanliness, warm shower after trekking,
and a personal touch in their travels!
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - The staff is very nice and some speak English
- Marek (10/5): Great place - An amazing place to stay and arrange hiking in the national park. Doña Martha and her family are very kind and helpful with everything. Nothing.
- - (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (10/5): Great base for El Cocuy and surrounding area. - The staff were absolutely wonderful. Marta helped planned numerous trips for us during our stay in El Cocuy. Always there with help and information. The breakfast was lovely. The Hostal is a lovely building and the room was great.
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional - Great family-run hostal. Comfortable rooms and welcoming outdoor area, which made it easy to get to know other guests. And Martha was a wonderful hiking guide.
- Friederike (10/5): Exceptional - It was amazing!!! I just loved everything about my stay there! Marta is a power women- she helps you organise everything and leaded our group on the hike! She stayed with me when I was struggling with the altitude and calmed me down. Thank you
- Kate (9/5): Wonderful and memorable stay. - Absolutely loved our stay. The couple managing the hostel, Martha and Alfredo, really took care of us well and organized our hikes superbly. They really cared for each guest individually.
Excellent breakfasts, lots of common spaces good for meeting other guests.
Efficient room cleaning in the mornings. The only thing we didn’t like were the beds and pillows - which had a sort of plastic protector on them that made for warm sleeping.
- Ivana (10/5): Great place to stay in El Cocuy - Very cute hostel in El Cocuy and the best place to organize your hiking in PNN Cocuy. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I was traveling solo but I didn’t have problems to find people to go hiking together. Breakfast was good and early in the morning before the hikes. My room was nice with a patio view. There is also filtered water, which is a plus. The terrace and chill area is really nice. Everything was fine. Maybe the wifi was not the best from now and then but it wasn’t a problem.
- Jo (9/5): Very good place - Good breakfast, plenty of food before hiking. Good coffee
- Redd (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (8/5): Cool place, excellent breakfast! - Breakfast is excellent.
Martha is a great host and she can help you organize the hiking in the national park.
Cool chilling spots.
Safe and clean! Everyone gets up at 4am to go hiking so noisy at that time.
Only thing I didn't like!
- Willem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matej (9/5): Superb - Helpful stuff, location, Marta (owner) can speak english
- Tomer (10/5): Exceptional - Great staff Not enough hot water
- Andrea (9/5): Would stay again! - The staff were really nice and accommodating, being able to use the kitchen was highly appreciated. The rooftop area was a great place to watch the stars in the evening. Nice common area. Could not close the bathroom door in our private room. Plastic-y covers on the pillow.
- Max (10/5): Alfredo and the team are super welcoming and extremely helpful when it comes to arranging hikes! -
- Nina_0123 (10/5): Best hostel in El Cocuy - Carla is absolutely amazing and helped me organize my hikes before I even got there. The hosts are very caring and helpful, the place is amazing to meet other hikers. My room was perfect for a good rest after a long day with the best hot shower I could imagine. Everything was great!
- Inbal (10/5): Exceptional - The stay with Martha was no less than perfect - comfortable and pleasant rooms, the hostel is beautiful (mainly in the morning when the sun emphasizes the colors on the walls), the location is excellent and breakfast wonderful. But over everything - Martha herself is the great advantage of this place! She helped us, professionally, to plan our days in the reserve, talked for us with Miguel the guide, organized transportation and even gave us Coca leaves for tea to get used to the heights. absolutely the best place in town!
- Raphael (9/5): Superb - Best thing about el caminante are the lovely people working there, as well as the guests. Its easy to connect with other travelers. The room was very clean, the internet was good, breakfast excellent and i loved the areas to chill. You can even make a fire in the evening and chill infront of it on a sofa. It's quite cold in the room and the shower is not the best.
- Augustin (10/5): Exceptional - Super helpful and friendly staff. Good room with hot water. Was easy to meet people.
- Millie (10/5): A homely and friendly base to explore an incredibly beautiful and less-touristed area of Colombia - I liked everything about El Caminante. Martha and Alfredo are such lovely, friendly and welcoming people. They’re also really helpful when it comes to organising hiking and trail logistics in the National Park (they’re both guides too). The hostel is really clean, it’s quiet at night, there hot water for showers and the whole place has a relaxed atmosphere, with amazing views from the hammocks on the balcony. There are lots of places to chill and the kitchen is well equipped. I ended up staying 6 days and never wanted to leave - felt completely at home. 100% recommend. —-
- Bethany (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ryan (10/5): The best kept secret of Colombia - Since I made two reservations, I guess I get to write two reviews for my time at El Caminante. It was the highlight of my ten day trip to Colombia! The hostel was very clean, well taken care of, and in a gorgeous location. Marta was not only a fantastic host, but an excellent guide for two day hikes in the national park. Well worth the trek to get here!
- Helene (9/5): Superb - Nice staff, nice kitchen. Amazing breakfast. We organised our treks with them. It was a bit cold in the night. Blankets are not enough. Pillows are too thick
- Ryan (10/5): 10/10, five stars, etc. Stellar experience! - One of the best experiences I've had in international travel! Marta was an excellent host and guide for two day hikes in Parque national El Cocuy. Everything was well organized and seamless - no issues whatsoever. Couldn't possibly recommend the hostel enough! Super clean and quiet rooms, adequate kitchen and dining space (great breakfast provided), incredible views from the common area. Also - try contacting Marta directly via WhatsApp if it looks like the hostel is full online. She says it probably isn't! Hell of a trek to get to El Cocuy, but worth it!
- Marcus (9/5): Very nice hostel! - Clean rooms, nice breakfast, super helpful owners The hot shower did not work properly in our room, beds are not really comfortable but still ok
- Siri (9/5): best stay in el Cocuy - the family that runs the hostel is amazing. super friendly and they can help you arrange everything for the hikes. it might be a bit hard to meet people when travelling alone, because everyone is hiking during the day and going to bed early.
- Julian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aviv (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- Theresa (10/5): lovely and central - martha and her husband were very very accommodating at all times. i had a stressful issue and they helped me out without hesitating. highly appreciated!
- Ryan (6/5): Pleasant - The service was very good. Everyone was super helpful, especially in terms of arranging a trek (which is why most people come to El Cocuy). It was all very efficient and seamless. The hostel itself has a very nice common area. The room was tiny and uncomfortable. The bathroom was tiny and not well-ventilated. The water in the shower only got lukewarm (El Cocuy is cold!). The pillow was hard as a rock. For such an otherwise nice hostel, they could really improve the comfort level of the room. I think a lot of people would be willing to pay slightly more for a better room.
- Michael (10/5): Great hostel with amazing staff - A beautiful little hostal with everything you will want. The breakfast is great and the staff is amazing. They really do make you feel at home and will talk to you by name. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of blankets as it can be very cold. Its a small quiet town and you will enjoy your stay. This is an excellent value for the area.
- Marielle (9/5): Home away from home - This hostel is what you'd expect a hostel to be: it's cosy, comfortable, and it's easy to meet and talk with other travelers in the common spaces, especially around the fireplace in the evening. Martha was incredible warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home. We also enjoyed the properly hot showers, being able to use the kitchen, and reading on the terrace while taking in the gorgeous mountain views. -
- Oscar (8/5): Very good -
