The property sat quietly, surrounded by open space and soft, rolling nature The house itself felt warm and welcoming, with large windows that invited the outside in. Evelyn was a truly exceptional host—warm, thoughtful, and the kind of person who makes you feel instantly at ease. She went above and beyond to make the stay feel special, always attentive without ever being intrusive. One of the highlights was her homemade bread—it was absolutely incredible. Freshly baked, soft on the inside with a perfect crust, and made with so much care you could taste it in every bite. It added such a personal and comforting touch to the whole experience, making the stay feel even more memorable.

• Sharon (10/5): It was quite idyllic - It was quiet, very clean and beautifully decorated. It felt like a ‘retreat’ even though it was attached to the main house. The man standing right outside the glass front door the next morning chatting loudly to the owner.

The beds were comfortable and room well equipped. The fresh bread was an absolute treat with honey and jam harvested from the property. The airconditioner was on when we arrived which we were grateful for on a very hot day. A great host and we would love to stay again when we are in the Barossa. • Valentine (9/5): 2 Nights at Meander Rural Retreat. - We really enjoyed being in the countryside surrounded by flowers and greenery. Our King Suite had everything we needed. Thanks Evelyn for the lovely fresh bread, jam, honey and cereal. There was nothing we didn't like.

Beautiful setting with loads of fruit trees, herbs and flowers. Room was large and spacious. Everything was immaculately cleaned and well decorated. Best night sleep too!

Even more appreciated the breakfast provisions and Evelyn's desire to make my stay comfortable. I don't think there's much more that can be improved. Perhaps a digital clock in the room so that when I woke up in the middle of the night I could see what time it was without getting up and out of bed?

• Victoria (10/5): Beautiful, comfortable and welcoming. - The property was beautiful - beautiful landscape about 20minutes from the main wineries in Barossa. The green room was just perfect. So spacious, well decorated, warm, with a well equiped kitchen and a fabulous bathtub. Evelyn was a great host, she baked us fresh bread, and left an assortment of beautiful home made jams and granola. She’s so friendly and you can see that she takes great care of all the details. A bonus was being able to see the sunrise right from the very comfortable bed and to gaze at the vast number of stars at night. We absolutely loved it here, and would 100% recommend it for any one looking for a relaxing escape in the Barossa. Nothing, it was all great!

• Jake (10/5): I would very highly recommend staying at Meander Retreat if you are travelling to the Barossa region - Meander Retreat was beyond our expectations. Evelyn was the best host we've had in a long time. She gave excellent recommendations on what to do in the Barossa Valley, and went above and beyond in ensuring we had a comfortable visit. Meander Retreat had all of the additional comforts you might need while on holiday in the Barossa, including extra pillows, blankets, and towels, as well as fresh bread, honey, granola, milk, coffee, etc.

Bathroom and kitchen were beautiful, the bed was nice too. it was easy to access and a quiet place to stay I think it’s attached to the owners house so I was a bit conscious about making noise when I stayed because we had late nights, but they hadn’t complained about anything

We also found the place to be beautifully decorated, the bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft and cosy. The house was clean and beautifully presented. They had left out some brochures for the area which was helpful and thoughtful too. Despite this room being attached to their home they are respectful of your space and quiet and conscientious. Little further from the main towns of the area which could be a positive for some people. The property isn't far off the main road so the green room we stayed in (closest room to the road) can be quite noisy with passing vehicles but maybe this was only noticeable due to the incredible serenity when there are no cars/trucks passing.
