Guest Reviews
- Jennifer (5/5): Basic accomodation , good location - Location good
Well priced for a one night stay Split system didnt work
Some dirty towels left behind the door on bathroom
Carpet needs to be replaced
- Jo (5/5): Great location, with a very ordinary room experience - The cleaning and presentation appeared quite good in keeping with the antique look of the room The rooms dont lock
Free parking is misleading, the only place to park is out on the road, nowhere close to our room, and there is minimal street lighting out there.
We found the room to be very noisy, it seems that there is no insulation in roof and walls as the floor above could be heard dragging chairs around, and next doors bathroom fan sounded like a Harley running outside our window.
The TV only picked up two chanels.
- CHRISTINE (9/5): - The beds were amazing, fire place great, balcony convenient, Only thing I can mention is that it hasn't been cleaned behind the front door corner inside.
- Janice (7/5): Would stay again - Room quaint & furniture nice. Bed and bit soft for my back, but quiet a comfortable setting Room 1 was hard to find. Car parking area not suitable. Staircase to room a bit scary for me. Used the side door.
- Chenhao (5/5): -
- Maggie (10/5): -
- Saric (8/5): -
- Jason (3/5): Poor - Nothing, It is not a hotel it is a guest house as per the sign on the door and the building. You should not lie in the description
- James Viant (5/5): The interior didn’t quite match our expectations of a period exterior. - Parking was difficult.
- Rob (7/5): Lots of charm in a great location. - The location was great and the room had lots of charm. We have stayed here in the past and had some great conversations with the owners which made us feel welcome. This time however, there was no interaction with any staff which left us feeling like a transaction rather than guests.
- Mirna (7/5): - Location, spacious Fridge was noisy and frozen everything even the fruit. The spa bath didn't work. Water pressure was weak. Pillows on bed were flat. Split system only blew out cold air.
- Hannah (10/5): -
- Maria (8/5): -
- Angela (8/5): Comfortable and cosy! - Location Back door did not lock!
- Jo-Ann (8/5): Perfect for our needs - Nice quiet area within walking distance to centre of town Parking was across the road from property not at door
- Jacqueline (9/5): -
- Simon (5/5): We were booked for 3 nights but left after 2. Good but only just. - Location was great, excellent bed. It was a bit run down and very noisy, we could hear other guests in their bathrooms and walking around (we were downstairs) The lighting in the room was inadequate. We noticed the smoke detector in the room wa disabled.
- Ingrid (4/5): Mediocre. - Close to everything , quaint older style. There was no heating in my room so it quite cold , except for a kettle l couldn’t heat my porridge . The reception room going to waste upstairs could accommodate a microwave for this purpose. Another complaint was the renovation work occurring late at night and before light in the morning , bare weatherboards and work boots are not a good combination for a silent environment. Also a warning - cars windows were smashed during our stay fortunately it was not ours but patrons adjoining us.
- Lynda (8/5): Quirky and charming - Really charming, quirky, big apartment in a brilliant location. Beds were so comfy! Lots of towels, and a basic but functional kitchen The gas heater was difficult to turn on an off and the split system unit didn't seem to work at all. The only available parking was on the road. The plumbing was quite noisy, I was glad I packed my earplugs!
- Louise (8/5): Fantastic value for money but if a few issues were fixed it would be even better. - Great location, very spacious, well equipped kitchen, good shower and beds, very comfortable. There were some broken things including bathroom basin and plug and no appropriate kitchen sink plug. Poorly lit along front of building and external light didn’t work. Some staining on carpets and couches.
- Kate (8/5): Location, size and value - The location was excellent, making it easy to get around and access everything we needed. The apartment itself was very clean and well presented on arrival. It felt spacious, with great ceiling height that made it feel even larger and more comfortable. It was also very quiet, and we could not hear any neighbours.
The beds were big and very comfortable, and having two bathrooms was a huge bonus. The apartment size was generous
The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of plates, cups, and crockery, which made meals easy. There was also a good amount of milk provided, which was a thoughtful touch.
The contactless check in process was smooth and convenient.
Overall, a very comfortable and well equipped stay with everything needed for a relaxing visit. The only downsides were that the air conditioning did not work, and when a neignour smoked outside, the smell travelled through the entire apartment, despite the door being closed.
- Elizabeth (6/5): Great location but needs to be updated - Comfy bed, warm and great location Dirty bedside table, hot water system and bathroom fan are noisy
- Daryl (10/5): -
- Ben (6/5): Very central, comfortable beds, but don't expect a sleep in - Comfortable bed Very noisy in the morning
- John (8/5): All good -
- Michelle (2/5): -
- Guest (1/5): -
- Lucinda (5/5): -
- Roger (6/5): Good location but noisey - Location Noisey
- Michael (6/5): overall a good stay if you don't want to spend much time in the hotel - The location was really good for this hotel It was a short walk to the main street where the local pubs and shops are There was a smell of damp mold on arrival i'm pretty sure it was coming from the bathroom as I spotted mold in the bathroom on the ceiling
- Shantelle (8/5): - Lovely comfortable beds and great pillows! Tv didnt work properly and the backdoor didnt lock
- Fang (9/5): -
- Jen (7/5): Great location, beautiful setting, unique style - Great location, unique style, beautiful heritage buildings. Comfy beds and pillows. Lovely outdoor area. There were a few things missing from the apartment that would have been great to have, such as coat hangers in the bedrooms, more kitchen utensils etc (sharp knives, grater, squeezer, colander/sieve), paper towel, toilet spray, cleaning products. We also weren't provided with a new/fresh kitchen sponge - only a dirty, previously-used kitchen sponge was provided in the kitchen.
It would also be great if there were some wall hooks fitted in the bathroom (to hang towels, robes etc) plus some more wall hooks in the bedrooms; and also if there was a separate second bin for recycling (in addition to the one rubbish bin provided).
- Miller (9/5): -
- kathryn (3/5): - The location was good I chose the delux Queen when I picked it my confirmation said standard. It was non refundable and I tried to contact the hotel but I have still not heard from them. Room had the smoke alarm removed, the door was not lockable from the inside, unlocked outside doors all night, and you could hear everything happening in the room upstairs including coughing and walking around. The door didn't fit the frame so the light coming in from the hallway was very annoying all night.
- Douglas (8/5): Apart from the above mentioned concerns we enjoyed our stay - Location to everything was great.
Very easy to check in and out The only downside was there was an ironing board but no iron.
Only 1 coffee mug and only 1wine glass
- Garbutt-Lear (9/5): Was really nice to stay and relax and listen to music without disturbing anyone or having disturbance ! - The big apartment room with a spa! Contactless check in, kitchen facility, The fan in bathroom is very very loud and disorienting, would bring my own pedestal fan next time.
- Luigi (8/5): - Location; No tissues
- Janice (5/5): -
- ann-marree (10/5): Very relaxing and comfortable place to stay in - Location was perfect close to everything.
Clean and spacious.
Spa was great.
Bed was comfortable
Decor was excellent.
Wasn’t nothing we didn’t like about the place Can’t think of anything we didn’t like
- Rebecca (9/5): -
- Jen (7/5): Had a great weekend at Chillout - great location The outside lights don't work (for both apartment 5 and 6) so it was very hard to see when coming home at night.
There was no clean kitchen sponge supplied; only a dirty sponge (that's apparently been used by many other guests) was left on the sink for us to use to wash our dishes and wipe down the benches.
It would also be really helpful if the hotel supplied a folding clothes airer, so that we could dry towels, bathers etc, as there's no space for this.
- CARMEN (5/5): Great location - Location Not clean , no maintenance seen on property
- Joseph (4/5): Poor value for the amount paid although at least the room was clean and beds comfortable. - Quirky old bld. Very steep narrow stairway. Small bathroom. Paper walls, people upstairs were moving furniture! Nothing in the way of complimentary additions, water a biscuit or two etc. ancient tv access, not up to date.
- Raylee (3/5): - Location The rain created flooding in the passage, the carpet was soaked and the walls were wet and light was full of water. We had no working light in the bathroom.
- Lachlan (3/5): Location great but facilities not - The location was great It had no lights working in bathroom , fan wasn’t working in main room and it had a massive water leak at our room and next to our room and it really had a bad stink
- Jessie (3/5): No return stay for us! - The property location was short walking distance everywhere! The air conditioning wasn’t working, error message was on the screen and appeared to be an outside unit issue.
Ceiling fan didn’t work.
Some lights not working and one switch would crackle and spark slightly.
Upon arriving Friday night there was a storm and the roof leaked, onto the carpet saturating the hallway. We called management and they dropped off some towels.
The smell was horrendous, we called again Saturday to explain the smell and the other items (the 1 window was very tiny) as we had no ventilation and it was hot!
Management just said there was nothing they could do.
Really disappointing
- Jennifer (8/5): -
- John (9/5): - We really enjoyed are stay, wish we could of stayed longer. Nothing at all.
- Cristofaro (6/5): We had a lovely time in Daylesford.Restaurants and cafes were great. - The location was great. The cleanliness could have been a lot better.Just needs a thorough clean. Also there was a lot of noise coming from room above.
- Uali (5/5): Unfortunately I would not recommend due to lack of cleanliness. - The room was quaint, nicely heritage decorated, but it was dirty. I was warm but didn't feel co.fortable turning the fan on due to the dust I could see on it. The bathroom mirror had a thick film of dust, dust on the carpets, dust on the skirtingboard, the coaster on my bedside table was sticky, the cups in the room looked used...they were not face down and the teaspoon was just sitting in the cup, not on the saucer...as if it had been used. The bathroom floor was dusty a d the shower needs cleaning around the outside edges...the whole room was grotty. The same goes for my friend who stayed in an apartment...apartment no 3. Such a pity, as it's a cosy establishment. Lack of cleanliness.
- Alby (5/5): - Location Old building, poor parking
- Caz (5/5): - Location Breeze coming through misplaced glass slats over my bed, leaking tiolet torn curtains dirty dusty skirting boards...lampshades not working..
- Anjali (6/5): -
- Michele (5/5): -
- Yearn (10/5): - Exactly what we needed for our short weekend stay. Close to everything. Clean, comfortable accommodation and a spa to die for!
- Carlo (10/5): -
- David (7/5): -
- Patrick (10/5): - On the hottest day recorded in Victoria, it was a quiet and cool oasis.
- Tinalouise (8/5): Value for money and a great property - Fantastic location and amazing value for money. The room was comfortable and clean. Especially loved the private bathroom with the claw foot tub. Nothing
- Keith (8/5): -
- JENNY (9/5): It’s lovely, nice room and location is great , walking distance to go everywhere - It’s nice and clean, location is great ! The upstairs tenant was making noises in the early morning
- bryan (5/5): Ok for one night - N/a Television didn't even work.
- Kim (8/5): Very cosy and comfortable accommodation, in a fantastic location. It was perfect for a short stay. -
- Amy (10/5): -
- Tabitha (6/5): -
- Lachlan (2/5): Try somewhere else - No heating in the room
Poor door sealing/fit allows light from hallway to illuminate the room
Coords from tv/beside bed hastily left with TV not turned into channels
Poor sound insulation to neighbouring rooms
Front and side door unlocked and accessible overnight (no swipe cards or external keys for guests, so its left open)
Smoke alarm from behind locked door went off from 12.30am with after hours contact number not being answered.
These guys do the bare minimum for their guests and never answered calls to the number provided.
- Samantha (7/5): Convenient location. - Great location.
Did enjoy the claw foot bath 🛁 broken blind in room so no natural light.
Musty smell through the building
- Deanna (6/5): Great location, bed was comfortable, room was clean but tired. - Location, old style building, retaining old features. Easy check in. Water in shower was tepid, plastic shower was like being in a caravan. Only 2 channels on the tv. Smoke detector in the room was missing.
- Linda (6/5): Okay. Won’t be back - Location. Space of the apartment - huge! Sheets were really noisy, like brown paper crunching. No lighting in the bathroom. No bench at the basin, the sink is clogged. No electric blanket . No coffee machine . No parking outside - it’s across the road . Tv was deliberately left on so I thought there were people inside and was reluctant to open the door. Don’t do that .
- melanie (8/5): -
- Anthony (4/5): - It was warm and dry. Lack of facilities. More style and less function
- Sandra (8/5): - Great location. Separate bathroom facilities.
- Chris (10/5): - Location Nothing
- Zdenko (10/5): Nothing is far, yet everything feels like home. - We were here for a wedding, we made the most of the close location to the town by walking everywhere. It was so close to everything! The room was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. This is our go to place when we come back to Daylesford! Love it! Nothing
- Megan (6/5): - Location was great and check in process was easy. Shower was nice and hot with good pressure. Floor above room 4 was very squeaky with people upstairs. Would be nice to have blinds on the window instead of just sheer curtains.
- Htoo (8/5): -
- Mark (7/5): For just a place to relax and wash up after a day of exploring this place is great. - Perfectly located, walking distance to town center, quiet, private We were staying in room 5 which is located downstairs. the room above us was very noisy at times, one time is was at 2am, sounding like furniture being moved across the floor, other times we could hear snoring...
- Jillian (7/5): Great location - Location, upstairs sitting room Lack of heating, dusty heater, bathroom tap spraying water, noisy fridge (turned off off)
- Courtney (1/5): -
- Karina Anna (7/5): -
- niels (9/5): -
- Patrick (2/5): Dissapointing - No breakfast available This was not an hotel. Just a tiny room with a tiny en suite
- John (8/5): Walking distance to everything - No breakfast, no interaction, excellent location & good value
- Natasa (8/5): -
- Angela (8/5): Very good - Big enough, contained everything we needed and was central The unevenness of the floor going in to the bedroom
- Nash (7/5): The stay was good and walking distance to town - Very central Main light and fan was not working
I did try and call but no one call back as I needed to know if there were stairs and a spa
- Simone (8/5): -
- Andrew (1/5): I don't mind old or a bit daggy but the property was disgusting and dirty. - Daylesford is a beautiful destination. Lots to experience will definitely return but not to the Frangos group or the Albert! Where do I start, the Hotel is unloved and unkept, we didn't see any staff. All the pot plants are dead and full of butts. A lovely greeting of a large moconna coffee jar half full of butts. Our room A3 on Camp street was dirty no windows could be opened. The Doona had disgusting stains on it. The carpet was dirty and dust everywhere. Air con would have never been cleaned. They must have put the photos through AI, I will be writing directly to the management. It seems the people who own the Albert own Frangos and their review aren't much better since that hotel was sold to the new owners. They should be ashamed of themselves.
- Sally (8/5): Great stay. Brilliant location, room was clean and tidy and comfortable and had everything we needed. - Great location!! Would’ve loved a window we could open for fresh air. But was grateful there was an air purifier in the room instead.
- Jennifer (10/5): Wonderful - Beautiful Old period building I liked everything.
- Kirsty (6/5): -
- Lorraine (7/5): Pleasant, although room downstairs felt a bit - Having a bath and room was very quiet Bathroom in same room
- Kathy (8/5): Loved to walk into town and loved the historic building. - Location great. Walking distance to pubs and restaurants. Quaint historic building. All good.
- Delta (10/5): - Albert Hotel is full of character. There is a charm in the old flooring thats not quite level as this property is an old mill. The beds are super comfy and have all amenities you’d need from accommodation of this nature. Would highly recommend. The pub is just down the road as with the town center. Coles is about a 400m walk away.
- Malcolm (9/5): -
- Kim (8/5): - Perfect location. Walking distance to the main road. The apartment had everything you need and the beds were comfortable I'm a dummy and needed instructions on how to use the spa and shower
- Louis (2/5): Don't book here even if it is your last option!!!! - Nothing about the hotel. It was a disaster Toilets a walk away from the room, leaking bathtub, no microwave or even an option to upgrade. No staff on site or on call to help. Poorly maintained property. Room is literally 10ftx10feet with no room to even walk around. We even found a leftover vibrator in our room near the bedside table. We kicked it under the bedside table. Yuck! Parking across the street. The fire exit leads to backyard that is not well maintained.
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Arjan (7/5): It was okay, which is a shame since the building has great potential. - The outside of the building was beautiful. I liked how spacious it was and the bath tub was pure bliss. The bed was great. And we appreciated two couches instead of one, what you’d often see. There were not a lot of cups, glasses, plates and cutlery and such. Too few. Not enough coffee sachets either. Furthermore, the bathroom lacked enough places to stall things on (like a cabinet or shelf) and the light in the bathroom didn’t work. And the aircon only cooled the sleeping area, not the living area. The coaches weren’t that comfortable. Leather or faux leather is always sticky and feels cheap.
