- Philippe (4/5): Un séjour écourté - Bon emplacement géographique. Très beau jardin ombragé, vert, fleuri et avec de jolies terrasses C'est une plaisanterie de qualifier "bungalow de luxe" une cabane de 12 m2 avec uniquement des fenêtres de toit face au soleil et sans rideaux provoquant une température étouffante que le conditionnement d'air assuré par un gros appareil intérieur très bruyant ne parvenait pas à corriger. La salle de bain et toilette séparés ne sont pas juste derrière mais à 20m. Le prix des dîners est excessif par rapport à leur qualité. Le petit déjeuner est très basique. Un tel logement ne devrait pas être offert sur booking.
- Hartmut (10/5): - Wer auf Luxus verzichten kann und mal in einem mit viel Liebe zum Detail restaurierten bulgarischen Bauernhaus übernachten möchte, ist hier genau richtig. Herzliche Gastgeber. Saubere Zimmer. Großer Garten. Klimaanlage. Ruhige Lage. Parkplatz vor dem Haus. Schnelles Internet. Perfekt zum Entspannen. Frühstück und Abendessen gibt es auch. Es war bereits mein zweiter und garantiert nicht der letzte Aufenthalt hier. Nicht gefallen hat mir, dass ich nicht länger bleiben konnte, weil alles für die Folgetage ausgebucht war 😉

- Ana (10/5): Wonderful stay at the Old Nest - The house was beautifully renovated, rooms were super comfortable and exceptionally clean and cozy. There is an amazing garden where one can chill in the afternoons. The food is traditional, homey, good ingredients and super delicious. We were lucky we found this place. Zlati and her husband are the best hosts. Welcoming and super nice people. It was absolute pleasure staying at the Old Nest

They welcomed us like old friends and when we left, it honestly felt like saying goodbye to family. The home-cooked breakfast, dinner and rakia ;-) - absolutely delicious. The rooms were spotless, everything was super well looked after, and the views around the place were stunning. We had such a great time and would 100% come back. This stay was definitely one of the highlights of our summer.

- Miez (10/5): Authetic feeling & warm welcome - What a great atmosphere! A very authentic feeling and a warm welcome by the hosts. Wifi worked fine and we enjoyed the homemade food and conversations. A kayaktour was easily booked and a 10 min walk brings you to the shop and cafe in the village. We had a great stay. There is a lot to explore in the surroundings from Madharovo. The (good) shower was open as mostly in Bulgaria so the whole bathroom gets wet...

They even cooked special meals for me, because of a health problem. With just entering the property you feel like you travelled back in time. I recommend it and will be back for sure. Big green garden with places to sit under the fruit trees and spectacular views towards the mountains. Very tasty homemade vegan friendly food, and well preserved authentic architecture of the house! - Maria (8/5): Great place with lots to do around! - Great location, friendly people, lots to do around. There is no fridge in the room (at least not in our room - Yellow Room) but you can order dinner which is home-made. The best part is the social aspect at breakfast & dinner. You get to meet people from all over the country and sometimes from abroad and have very interesting discussions and chats with people you've never met before and you might never meet again. Zlatka and her partner Ivaylo were great hosts and were great mediators in the discussions. We would love to go back! It would be nice to have a minifridge in the room to keep some food/drinks for the day trips in it.
- Andrew (9/5): Highly recommended for a quiet retreat in the wild and remote Bulgarian Rhodope Mountains. - The Old Nest has a charming rustic feel about it, and a wonderful well-kept garden where you can relax to the sound of the crickets on summer evenings. The staff - Yanko. Zlatka and John - are very friendly and helpful and can communicate in basic English. The very rural location - in the quiet foothills of the Rhodope Mountains - is superb, with excellent views and a convenience store in Madzharovo about 12 minutes' walk away. The Vulture Centre by the River Arda is about 25 minutes' walk away and the cliffs for the vultures another 25 minutes beyond that. The evening meals, though consisting of 3 courses of fresh, traditional food in generous servings, were expensive by Bulgarian standards (35 lev, 40 with a beer). However, the uniqueness of the location and the experience compensates for this. Also, a small fridge in each room would be welcome - we had to store things in a large fridge in a room near the kitchen.

- Ian (9/5): Superb - The owners and staff were all very friendly and helpful. The Old Nest is in an amazing place, with great views of Griffon vultures nearby, in spectacular nature-rich scenery. It's a lovely, unique place to stay.
- Kiril (10/5): Exceptional - Home away from home! Restored to perfection highlighting classic Bulgarian Revival architecture. Eternally greatfull to our hosts Zlatina-the Golen Girl & Raycho who went above and beyond to please our requests. And the food, oh gosh ...hand made, rolled and stuffed authentic Bulgarian cuisine. Booked for a single night stayed another and didn't want to leave at the end... The only thing we need is an aircon in Hambara next time we come back!
- Sinda (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was fantastic. The suroundings of Mazhdarovo are amazing with the river, the cows and birds. We did kayak and our host gave us binoculars to watch the birds. The garden with the vegetable garden is resourcing and the room was clean and cosy. You need to pay 30 Lv/person for the dinner, which is also tasty and made with some products from the garden. The hosts were very generous and nice. I definitely recommand!

The rooms are designed to combine elements making you feel closer to the nature. The meals were very special, we ate some interesting local dishes which were carefully prepared to address our specific dietary needs (gluten free, lactose free, vegan options can be requested in advance)

Location is convenient to the beautiful Eastern Rhodopes mountains On the weekend the hotel is popular among families with small children. Since areas for relaxing and eating are communal, this means the experience can be chaotic
- Sian (9/5): Quirky hotel - Beautiful quirky hotel nestled in the mountains. Really close to the famous horse shoe bend where we spent the day. The hotel was clean, our room was small but had everything we needed and the separate bathrooms were close by. There were lots of comfortable outdoor seating areas too, perfect as we were travelling with our dog. The staff were fantastic, really friendly and accommodating. Definitely a great place to stay for a few days if you're in the area. The property needed a bit of maintenance, but the main areas - kitchen/dining and bathrooms were well looked after. It's a family friendly hotel, lots of space for kids to play, but can be very loud if you're seeking a quiet getaway.

- Gergana (10/5): More than just a stay! - Not sure what else I can add to all the great reviews, the house is really something, you can see how much love and effort was put into every little detail. It was very clean, beds were comfortable, and breakfast was phenomenal! Sergey and Maria are very helpful, easy- and outgoing. Making you feel really welcome and keeping extra busy with making the whole area more attractive to tourists (installing benches in places with breathtaking views, marking hiking trails etc.) The village is very small and quiet, birds chirping, dogs barking, the perfect secluded getaway. I only wish I could have stayed longer! A big thank you for everything!

- Veronica (10/5): Lovely stay in the Rodopes - Lovely stay. I tried to combine working remotely with a stay in the garden and in the middle of nature, and it worked very well. Very good internet. Very nice hosts, and very interesting guests that I met at the place. Dinner was cooked with peppers and zucchini freshly picked from the garden. Everything was fine.

Breakfast is different every day and very typical. I suggest to have dinner there, all the products are genuine and local and you can talk with other people at the same table. Dinner should be booked in advance to let the cook know the exact food quantity to prepare
