• Doug (10/5): Very good 1st night in Costa Rica before starting explorations - Beautiful facility. Breakfast was FANTASTIC. There were 3 others in the hostel but they were in other room(s). Had the room to ourselves. Beds VERY comfortable. Short drive from San Juan to escape the city. Parking was a little limited but hosts made it work just fine.

• Claudia (6/5): This hostel has great food, is quiet and located out of town (as about thr local bus). Sparten rooms - The breakfast was really good. Lots of food, fresh and good quality. The hostel was quiet with only a few rooms and older travelers. It was exceptionally clean. My bed was very uncomfortable and the pillow was thick and hard (not unusual in CR). There was no where to put our belongings in our room so we had to rummage on the floor for 3 days. The lock on our room barely functioned.

• Margaret (9/5): This is a lovely house and is set well-back from the road so is quiet. The hosts are very kind. - Our stay at Hostel Bouganvilla was by far the most pleasant stay in Costa Rica. The location is on a rise on the Northern outskirts of San Ramon. All the amenities of the city are easily available from this location. The Hostel itself is a beautiful large Hacienda with well planted grounds. The gardens show a wonderful collection of flowers and herbs. The Host: William Ramirez Zuinga and Hostess: Enar Maria Villalobos are helpful and considerate in every way. The Hostel is kept spotless and decorated with taste. Every amenity is made available. On arrival I found that I was missing a “sock” for my choreodor. By the next morning they had got me one! They are happy to accommodate our needs. Breakfast was served at our choice of time. Delicious fresh squeezed juice, a fresh fruit salad followed by a variation of rice-and-beans, eggs, toast, plantain. Of course their coffee is most delicious. The location is good for visiting Arenal, the hot springs, the lake, the volcano. Also good for the Cloud Forest, The Children's Eternal Rainforest. Great beaches like Playa Dona Anna are close. San Ramon has lots of good restaurants. At the end of the day it is so nice to retire to a peaceful retreat like Hostel Bouganvilla. As the Ticos say: “Tuanice”.
• Michael (9/5): Superb - The breakfasts were great and varied. The owners were incredibly helpful and kind. I felt very at home and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a low cost place to stay.
