• Mabusang Malotane (7/5): I will come back its a stunning property, Tshidi is an excellent host. - There is Breakfast they should really consider offering one, that was a let down. The TV is OLLLLLDD is not a smart TV. The one in the Living room was not working either. However i pleased that in my room Tshidi made efforts to make sure that my Tv was working when i came back to my room after an outing.

We had to use 20liters of water to bath as a family and we were 4ppl.Maybe they should not book in the clients until the matter is resolved. Otherwise the property is beautiful and clean lack of water
• Jeffrey (6/5): Pleasant - The property is big, with lots of seating areas inside the house and outside, so that you are not confined to your room. The garden is lovely. Rooms were clean, and beds were nice. Overall, the house is run down and in need of repair. Paint and wallpaper peeling; door handles are loose. A lot of the outside seating areas are not clean and also in need of repair. There was no water on the day we were staying (although that is a JHB issue).
• Derry (6/5): Great location let down by furniture and finishings that need to be replaced. - The room and bathroom were huge and it has a full walk-in closet so plenty space to unpack and store clothes. As per many previous reviews, once the excitement of the room and bathroom size wears off, you notice that the couches are very badly stained as well as the carpet. This is mentioned by almost every other reviewer and I'm surprised they haven't dealt with it. You get the feeling the owner is largely absent and it's run by the staff who, while very friendly, can only do so much. The main doors to the room have two large panes of frosted glass and have no blinds, so you can't stop the light from the hallway coming into the room at night. I was also handed a religious pamphlet upon leaving, which honestly should just be a be avoided.

• Mpho (5/5): Passable - It is a beautiful place with a huge space to relax and lounge. We booked the family suite so we even had a walk in closet and a huge bathroom. The pool was green, couldn’t even see the bottom of the pool. Sometimes the electricity runs out, not because of load shedding, but because they didn’t buy enough electricity. Carpets and couches have massive stains. The property generally needs better maintenance, it is deteriorating horribly.

• Tiro (7/5): Great place for a quick stay over - The property is absolutely gorgeous and modern. The room I was in had carpets and they were not in the cleanest condition - I was wearing a ball gown in preparation for an event and it got dirty fluff from the carpet while I was moving around. I visited while there was a heatwave in Johannesburg. The room very warm the fan didn’t cool it down - the owner should consider investing air conditioning.

We had the family room which didn't have lamps on the side tables. There was no air-conditioning and it was 40 degrees. The property lists air-conditioning but i dont think any of the rooms had this. Our room wasn't cleaned one day and so the coffee wasn't replaced and the cups werent washed. Our room had a sliding door so we weren't given a key.

• Stephan (4/5): Fantastic bed and sleep. Everything else needs a lot of improvement. - Probably the best bed I've ever slept in. An awesome night's rest. I liked nothing else. The building was dirty and not well maintained. There was a lot of dust in my room which caused me to sneeze a lot and I had sinus issues the next day. There was no towel in my room! The only staff member and the only person there was security. Reception wasn't there, only available via phone call, and missed 2 of my calls. They had paper unsupervised in the foyer where they requested I put highly confidential personal information like my email, phone number, and ID number, which was left unattended in that public space - this I was not comfortable with at all.

• Buda (9/5): The Houghton Villa - The location, the house is super marvelous and the staff. There are no air conditioners in the rooms, the outside chill areas were dusty and not cleaned, the pool was also not cleaned. The outside chilling areas and the pool needs to be cleaned regularly.

• I (4/5): Disappointing - We were not given the remote control of the gate. After checking in, we could not go out of the property and no one was around the gate. We have been locked within the property for 2 hours.

It seemed the manager was not aware of our coming. We were the only guests, manager was nowhere to be seen, just the maintenance guy. The carpets in our bedroom were stained, also the curtains needed a wash. I found an artificial nail on the carpet...

The tv weren't plugged in because it needed a two-point plug which weren't attached to the power supply. There were no aircon in the room. The room was very spacious but no dressing table for the ladies to blow dry your hair or do your makeup. Also, no breakfast included - which I feel for the price you pay they could have at least included that.

The house keeping lady was kind and offered me a remote control for the gate as I was working late. She also gave me her details in case I needed anything. The security persons at the gate were unfriendly and unhelpful. I also didn't like that breakfast is not served. The place should seriously consider offering breakfast it makes a huge difference. I struggled to lock my door ( this is a maintenance issue) and there was no air conditioner in the room and it was very hot.
