They were incredibly helpful , proactive, and genuinely caring throughout the whole process, which meant so much to me. Stay at Tokyo International Hotel turned into one of my most memorable moments in Taipei. Their warmth and professionalism made me feel safe, supported, and truly at home. They are honestly one of the best memories I have from this trip. • cianak2026 (10/5): Our 17-Month-Old Baby Almost Died! - Hello, we stayed at Tokyo International Hotel with our 17-month-old baby. Even though we arrived slightly earlier than the official check-in time, the staff welcomed us warmly and kindly allowed us to check in early with a small additional fee. Our baby was not feeling well, so during the first and second days, he cried almost constantly. We were very worried about disturbing other guests. In the middle of that, our room bell rang, and we assumed it might be a complaint. However, when we opened the door, a hotel staff member gently explained that they were concerned because they had heard our baby crying so much. They gathered toys from the hotel and personally brought ones that were suitable for our baby’s age. We were truly grateful. Thanks to their kindness, our baby was able to calm down a little and enjoy playing with the toys. Unfortunately, a serious incident occurred the following morning. I was in the bathroom, and my husband stepped out briefly to do the laundry. During that very short moment, our baby choked on bread and a banana and began having convulsions, which we discovered too late. Our baby had already lost consciousness, and cyanosis was progressing. At that moment, I truly thought we were going to lose our child. My husband immediately performed the Heimlich maneuver and rescue breathing, but our baby was still unable to breathe. I called the front desk in tears, desperately asking them to call an ambulance. Within seconds, the hotel manager, Erick, came straight up to our room and calmly guided us on what to do while speaking with the hospital. Thankfully, at that moment, our baby began showing signs of breathing again. We were incredibly fortunate that a large, well-known hospital, Mackay Memorial Hospital, is located right behind the hotel. It took only about two minutes by ambulance to get there. After emergency treatment and several tests, unbelievably, about one hour later our baby regained consciousness and called out for me. The relief and gratitude we felt at that moment are something we will never forget. It even made us wonder whether such a fast and effective response would have been possible if this had happened in Korea. After that, our baby gradually recovered, and by the day of check-out, he had fully returned to normal condition, smiling and greeting the hotel staff as we left. We wanted to write this review to once again express our sincere gratitude. Erick, thank you so much. We will never forget what you did. We truly wish you happiness. As for the hotel itself, Taiwan is generally humid due to frequent rain, so guests from Korea may feel the room is slightly humid. However, the room was very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was well suited to Korean tastes, with items such as miso soup, grilled mackerel, fried eggs, and other mild, well-seasoned dishes. It was easy and safe to feed our baby, and he ate very well. They even prepared porridge especially for our child. Every staff member took such thoughtful care of our family that it honestly felt like being at home. The hotel’s location is excellent, making it easy to get anywhere, and having a large hospital right behind the hotel is incredibly reassuring in emergency situations. You never know when something might happen. On one occasion, after midnight, while bathing our baby, he had an accident on the bed just before getting dressed. Even at such a late hour, the staff replaced all the sheets within about 10 minutes. We were deeply impressed by their quick and professional response. Considering everything, the cost was absolutely worth it. The location and service were outstanding, and if we visit again, we would definitely stay at this hotel without hesitation. We sincerely thank all the hotel staff for their kindness, professionalism, and quick responses in every situation. We will always remember the lucky dollar given to our baby on our last day and, most of all, Manager Erick, who helped save our child’s life. Tokyo International Hotel — we will never forget you. Hope to see you again.
• Curiosity03206878465 (10/5): Excellent stay!! - The hotel manager and staff were extremely helpful. Erick, Tiffany, Alfred and Rudy were very nice and pleasant. They went over and above on their hospitality. For example, they called a taxi for us and hailed the taxi driver when the driver arrived. Also, the rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast was excellent and the person in charge of the buffet was nice. I can understand why they have so many repeat guest coming to Tokyo International hotel. It is walkable to Ningxia night market. When we come back we will definitely book this hotel again.

• LucasL1098 (10/5): Excellent stay, highly recommended for Taipei - Excellent experience with Tokyo International Hotel, as a matter of fact, 2nd time here. The room is small but enough, and mostly importantly, clean. Excellent breakfast every morning. Various team members, such as Alfred, as an example, take the time to try to get to know me. Some team members actually remember me from last stay 2 years ago! Do note that it is a little bit of a walk to an MRT station, about 10 minutes.

This is also a very convenient location to and have shopping and eating a easily within a short walk. Many thanks to Erick Hsu for making this such a warm walk of being environment. Five stars.
• Carlos (8/5): Great place for both business and family travelers - We stayed for nine nights. Front desk is outstanding and tremendously helpful. The property is in the old part of town, and it's not easy to maintain in great shape. However, it was good overall. We had some issues with internet connectivity which were promptly and successfully dealt with. Location is fantastic for activities along the Red Line which is where most activities we wanted to see and do take place. We had zero issues with street noise or contiguous room noise. TV is horrible in quality of signal and type of programing but nobody should go to Taipei to watch TV at a hotel room anyways. In our next visit, we are definitely going back to this slice of Japan in the middle of Taipei!!!

Offers Japanese style breakfast, very tasty and lots of choices. Room is clean and spacious, electric kettle, hair dryer, shampoos and body soap are installed. From environmental conservation reasons, amenities like toothbrush, razor, hair brush etc are not included. Bring your own or you can buy it at front desk with small fee. Free coffee is also offered at lounge next to front desk. 10min walk from MRT CHUNGSHAN station, bus stops are near by, very convenient location. Manager and staffs are friendly and helpful.

• peishih2015 (2/5): VERY BAD EXPERIENCE - "Terrible Experience - Not Recommended" This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Nearly everything in the hotel comes with an additional charge, including basic items like water and extra towels. The checkout time is at 11 AM, and there is no flexibility at all with this policy. Even more disappointing, there is no air conditioning at night in the rooms. The staff brought us two fans and explained that the hotel has centralized air conditioning, which they turn off at night. This left us with no air conditioning in our room during the hottest part of the day. The building is extremely old, and you have to climb a set of stairs before reaching the elevator, which is very inconvenient for anyone carrying heavy luggage. Furthermore, after midnight, the reception desk closes, and the doors are locked. If you return late, you have to ring the doorbell and wait for the staff to come and open the door. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There are much better options available in Taiwan that offer better service, facilities, and value for money. “最差的酒店体验，绝对不推荐” 这是我经历过的最差的酒店。几乎酒店的每一项服务都需要额外收费，连水和额外毛巾这些基本物品也不例外。退房时间是早上11点，完全没有任何灵活性。 更令我失望的是，房间里晚上没有空调。工作人员给我们带来了两个风扇，并告诉我们酒店使用的是中央空调，但他们晚上会关闭中央空调，这导致我们房间根本没有空调。 酒店本身非常陈旧，而且在进入电梯之前，必须先爬上一段楼梯。对于携带重行李的旅客来说，这非常不方便。 此外，午夜12点后，酒店前台关闭，门会锁上。如果你在这个时间回来，你必须按门铃，等待工作人员来开门。 我绝对不推荐这家酒店。在台湾，你可以找到许多提供更好服务、更好设施和更高性价比的酒店。 「最悪なホテル体験、絶対におすすめしません」 今までで最悪のホテル体験でした。ホテル内のほとんどのサービスは追加料金が必要で、ミネラルウォーターや追加のタオルなど、基本的なアイテムにも料金がかかります。チェックアウトは午前11時で、この時間には全く柔軟性がありません。 さらに、部屋には夜間にエアコンがありません。スタッフが2台のファンを持ってきて、ホテルは中央空調を使用しているが、夜間は空調をオフにしていると言われました。そのため、最も暑い時間帯に冷房が効かない部屋に泊まることになりました。 建物自体も非常に古く、エレベーターに乗る前に階段を登らなければならず、大きな荷物を持っている場合は非常に不便です。 さらに、12時を過ぎるとフロントが閉まり、ホテルのドアもロックされます。遅くに帰ると、インターホンを押してスタッフが来てドアを開けるのを待たなければなりません。 このホテルは絶対におすすめしません。台湾にはもっと良いサービスと施設を提供しているホテルがたくさんあります。

• Philip1120 (10/5): A perfect choice for a comfortable stay, in a convenient location and with lovely staff! - I really enjoyed my 7-night stay over the Christmas period at the Tokyo International Hotel. Erick (the manager) and his team were all super friendly and helpful, and almost all spoke very good English. Although the hotel caters mainly for Japanese tourists, who account for around 90% of the guests, the excellent breakfast (7am to 10am) comprised a wide enough range of options, including (but not limited to) juice, fruit, cereal, toast, coffee, eggs, bacon and sausages. My room was clean and comfortable, with a Japanese style bidet toilet. Water from the shower was always hot. Although my room faced the street, I experienced no noise disturbance. The hotel is less than a 10-minute walk from entrance/exit 3 to the nearest MRT station (Zhongshan) on the red line, just one stop from Taipei main train station. I found the area around the hotel safe and there are plenty of restaurants, convenience stores and massage and other shops nearby. When on duty, Erick was always interested in helping me with my plans for the day and made a number of useful suggestions. As a solo traveller, I appreciated the level of personal attention and warmth of the staff, who clearly look after their guests very well. In my case that included arranging a private transfer back to the airport and providing a coffee and a sandwich in lieu of breakfast as I had to check out before that started. Overall, I cannot fault my stay and would highly recommend the hotel to others. Many thanks again to Erick and his lovely team!

• 812kurts (10/5): Amazing Hotel with Amazing Staff - I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights for the Taipei Marathon weekend. Erick and his staff made sure everything was perfect for my stay and I was blown away by the level of service I received. For example, the morning of the race I realized I needed to get to City Hall for the start, but the MRT was not running yet and it would be a very long walk. But the night shift staff member was so kind and she made sure I was able to get a taxi and I made it on time to the Taipei Marathon. The room was comfortable and clean, and the shower worked with no issues. Breakfast was buffet style and I had definitely had a complete meal. I will definitely be staying at this hotel again in my future visits to Taipei!
• soon poh (10/5): - This hotel is very accessible, about 7 min walking distance to Zhongshan station. Many food eateries and restaurants within 5min walk from the hotel. There are also many convenient stores nearby. The room is very clean though a little small for 4 persons. The room has very good sound proof from outside, hardly can hear any noise from outside during sleeping time. The counter personnels are very polite and can always offer help when you need. We got help from the counter staffs on direction and recommendations. We got 4 spare MRT cards from the counter staff, that helps us some trouble of getting them. At the end of the trip, we can just return the MRT cards back to counter staff easily. The counter staff help us to arrange transport to and fro from the airport. Besides that the staffs also help plan and arrange tours with the local driver. That is really helpful and convenient! Highly recommend this hotel for getting around in Taipei!

They really try to foresee what we need and offer their help even before we ask for it. They asked us if we want to leave our luggage while we were visiting other cities, they give detailed instructions to tax drivers every time we needed a cab, and they told us where we could try an authentic Taiwanese stew, etc. It's like you have a personal assistance yet they are not that intrusive. The hotel is located on a convenient yet very busy street, but the room was quiet. It was also very clean. I will stay this place again when I visit Taipei next time.
• Ting (10/5): My best hotel experience in Taiwan - We had a wonderful stay for 3 nights over the Christmas period. The service provided by the hotel staff was exceptional. Not only the counter staff addressed us by name each time we go in and out of the hotel, even the ladies serving breakfast know where we come from. We feel like taking an SIA business class flight where cabin staff address you by name. On the last morning when we needed to leave at 5am to catch a early morning flight , the hotel staff called the cab for us and prepared hot tea and rice balls for us to eat at the airport. Very thoughtful. The hotel room is spotlessly clean. The room is well proportioned. The sound insulation is superb even though it is on a busy road. The breakfast buffet spread is very good with local, Japanese and western cuisine. This hotel provided first class product and service at a very reasonable price. I will definitely choose this hotel when I come to Taipei the next time.

This trip we came to realize that although this hotel, like all others in Taipei, is non smoking, the management has made a decision not to actively promote that fact. They are happy to turn a blind eye to smoking because of their majority clientele, businessmen from Japan. That’s a business decision for them. Iif cigarette smoke is a dealbreaker for you, definitely take a pass on this hotel.

One stop away on the Metro from Taipei's main railway station. Hotel staff friendly and efficient, English and Japanese speakers, rooms designed for business visitors, but fine for tourists. Families with small children would find it a challenge, though.

The staff is truly world class quality as they were tremendously courteous, professional, and pleasant to be around. They speak good English and Japanese. Breakfast was also very good. There were two practical issues I thought could have been better. First, the wifi is pretty poor. Connections were not stable and it was difficult to use. For a hotel of this quality I really expect better wifi. Second, the fitness room is small, but it is nice. However, it is only open from 10 am - 10 pm. This sort of perplexes me as it seems it can easily stay open other hours as well. This makes it difficult for a business traveler to utilize it and I think this could be a point to work on. Otherwise, this was a great hotel and would stay again. If strong internet is absolutely essential you may want to look elsewhere though.

My cousin had recommended this hotel for me and my family with 2 small kids since it was only 2 miles from my grandmother's home in Taipei. We got a family size room with 2 full/queen sized beds. Overall, the space is smaller (you feel a bit like you're in Tokyo), but the room feels super clean which I loved. The breakfast is great for people who like a Japanese/Chinese style one with miso soup, congee with toppings, some type of egg and ham each day. There was also the usual toast and salad bar. The only things that I would have liked was a swimming pool and more space, but then I would have been paying much more. The staff was exceedingly good, with great Japanese-culture like service. Would definitely stay again.
• John (8/5): This hotel is close to a lot of touristy things - We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is modern, updated, clean and comfortable. The air conditioning, absolutely necessary in the heat and humidity, works very well. When we arrived in a rain storm downpour, hotel staff were there with lots of umbrellas to usher us into the lobby while other staff collected our luggage from the cab. Check in was a breeze, and we were in our room shortly after check in. There are lots of restaurants in the neighbourhood, as well as a few shopping malls, and 2 red line MRT stations just blocks away. The bus to the airport, the 1819, runs every half hour, stops in front of two different hotels just a block away. The rooms are of average size, mostly the size of an North American hotel room. The rooms are quiet, no noise from the rooms next door, nor the street. Washrooms are relatively spacious, which can be a big plus to some. Ours had a bathtub and separate shower. The breakfast option will suffice if included, but I wouldn't pay extra for it. I found it geared more to the oriental clientele, although they did make us eggs over easy just because we asked about eggs. All in all, a pleasant experience. Huge kudos to Erik and Masako, who were extremely helpful.
• Harold (10/5): Simply superb hospitality - Superb stay. Every staff member supporting this hotel have a great sense of hospitality. I will be back. The best I've seen outside of Japan. My booking was last minute and I didn't book the right rooms. The reception staff promptly gave me options and allowed me to upgrade at reasonable price - settled on super VIP which has a lounge area. Neat and clean with amenities you find in Tokyo. Also was late arriving for breakfast but again they accommodated me. There is a washing machine and dryer which came in handy. The staff offered to watch over my drying and send to my room. They helped hail and instruct the cab drivers. The location has plenty of options for food. A few doors down there is a noodle place that gives Din Tai Fung a run for its money.

• Wozh (6/5): Comfortable hotel - The hotel is not close to the MRT - about 10 minutes walk. It is not recommended for disabled or elderly travelers. My room faced an adjacent building. Do request for a room with a view of the street. The room and bathroom are clean. However, it is awkward to shower while standing in the small bathtub. The breakfast spread is limited and predominantly tailored towards Japanese tastes. This hotel is not recommended for couples.
• Picklewacket (10/5): Awesome Hotel! - The location is busy & fun with shops, restaurants and everything you need right outside your door. It almost has a Times Square feeling about it. The MRT is a good 10 minute walk and a few streets away, but in a very safe neighborhood so the walk was pleasant even after midnight. the staff at this hotel was non-stop with their 5 star service. The check in was quick and efficient, any questions we had throughout our stay were answered, and if for any reason the person at the desk didn't speak English (which was rare) they quickly got someone who could. the rooms were excellent. Huge for that part of the world! Japanese toilet seats which are indescribably great! Comfortable beds, huge soaking bathtubs, flat screen TVs with many cable channels & many movie channels in English as well as local stuff. The breakfast was delicious local foods & even included cereal & milk for those days when you wanted a little taste of home. I was so impressed with this hotel I returned and stayed a 2nd time, and I am hoping to make it a 3rd!
• Yuan (8/5): Breakfast variety is limited - The breakfast has limited variety. They have a toaster which always burns your bread. Do not touch the dial to adjust the toaster because the lady there will yield on you. She also has a very loud voice so do not expect to have a quite breakfast. If you are sensitive to loud voice, make sure to bring your ear plugs. Other than that, the hotel is very clean.

• TAN BENG GEOK (10/5): Cosy hotel with a big heart - Tokyo International Hotel is like a cosy family-run hotel with the ambitions and quality of a top-range 5-star hotel. All of the staff were warm, friendly and inviting and they always had an English speaker to help us with every query and need. It is a relatively smaller hotel than the typical 5-star luxury hotels, but it goes to great lengths to provide quality that is in no way lacking. The staff at the desk, Erick and Jane, got to know us and planned our itinerary for us daily, giving us tips on how to get around Taipei easily as well as customised our tours to suit our needs. Going around Taipei was such a breeze on our own having had their advice. The hotel is situated about a 5-10min walk from Zhongshan MRT station and you pass through local designers, the local film theatre with a lovely coffee joint, several shopping malls and quaint little shops along the way to the hotel. My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we were really sad to leave!
• unagi (8/5): boutique hotel w/ great staff, efficient location - Booked this hotel based on reviews about the Front Desk staff. Staff spoke Mandarin, Hokkien, Japanese and English with A LOT of information with things to do once you arrive. Degree of service was a bit surprising ( am used to a generic chain) - they offered tea when we just stood at the lobby to sit, always offered to give data/directions. Helpful with our bags and always generous with courtesy and politeness- maybe because they cater to a lot of Japanese clientele as per a past reviews from different sites. They are really accomodating they will help you every time you are ready to step out for the day. Albeit one front desk staff didn't seem to know there is another Chunghwa Telecom that was open later within a 10 min walk and was re routing us elsewhere. We got a room with 2 small windows (2' x 1') and I would pull up the blinds in preparation for the morning - got the tip from a reviewer either on expedia or tripadvisor. However my mom felt there were no windows. She rises with the sun, and said it was hard for her to wake up with no windows. I'm used to N.America where you rise based on body clock sun or no sun, so it didnt bother me. Breakfast- good hearty breakfast with simple spread. Not continental, there is bread/toast and jam , cereal. Then the best parts!! real food. Congee (with all the toppings japanese style) ham, eggs, rice, vegetables. It almost felt like an Irish Breakfast but Asian Style. Felt like I was at home at my grandma's.

The staff was extremely nice and friendly, and always willing to help when we needed (directions, taxis, etc). The room was simple and a little small but it had everything we needed. No problem with cleanliness. Breakfast was fine although mostly targeting Asian visitors. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel as it was good value for money, it was clean, and it was well located in an area with lots of restaurants and at about 10 minutes walk from the MRT.
