- Mihai (3/5): Worst accommodation of our 2-month South American trip - Nice staff and owners. Beautiful city center and astonishing trips in the surrounding areas. • During the first 2 nights, it was so cold, that I had to sleep with my winter hat on.
• The guesthouse appears unfinished and poorly maintained, with everything made of low-quality materials.
• There was dust and some hairs in certain parts of the room.
• Due to the very poor breakfast (in terms of both range and quantity), we had to bring our own food as supplement.
• Lack of flexibility at checkout.
• No room cleaning during our 5-day stay.
• The water faucet at the kitchen sink leaked continuously, thus causing a disturbing noise, including overnight.
• Room on the 3rd floor, with no elevator.

- Amit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tania (8/5): It was good - Location, friendly staff and the price Really basic
- Jade (9/5): Great stay - Hosts and staff were all lovely and welcoming. Slightly out of the centre but quiet at night, easy to walk in to
Town and good transport links.
- Stephen (7/5): Good - Location was excellent. Max and his staff were very caring and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Good flow in shower. Breakfast could have been more interesting. Quite minimal. Eggs would have been nice.
Bathroom door didn't shut.
Poor water flow in sink.
- Pascal (8/5): Very good - Breakfast, atmosphere, cleanliness When we arrived, they were not there to open. Loud windows, when windy.
- Ferrer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kimberley (9/5): Superb - Max was an extremely gracious host. He was kind enough to give us plenty of tips and advice about what to see around town, helped us out in a pinch, by changing some money for us on a Sunday when we ran out of cash, and even went out of his way to drop us at the nearby bus station when we left. Muchas gracias Max! toilet didn’t flush properly and no towels provided.
- Janusz (7/5): Good -
- Gustavo (10/5): Great Hotel - Clean, Comfortable and Great Bed for Sleeping - My dorm was very clean, the staff is amazing and very friendly. The bathroom is clean and has good hot water for showering.
The location is pretty good and close to everything.
I rented a car to go to places around (cerro catedral, cerro Otto, cerro tronador and Vila Angustura) and I parked 4 days in front of the hotel and I didn't have any issues. Everything was great.
- C (9/5): Very good value, in a two star locale. - Breakfast and location...quite good. Rooms have weak Wifi connection. Lobby and reception had decent Wifi.
- Relax08855545177 (4/5): Max is a nice guy, the place needs renovation - Max is a real nice guy, always willing to help and give good advice. however the rooms are small, the shower has no curtain, paint is peeling in bathroom, pretty run down. The high price we paid, was because there weŕe no rooms in Bariloche. The breakfast is minimum. If the price is high, at least the breakfast should be of somd standard. He pushed the price up by 300 percent
- laraaldea (2/5): If you want a nice stay in Bariloche, STAY AWAY from this hostel. - We stayed at this hostel for 10 days and we paid breakfast included with the room.
About the owner - Right of the bat you have to know that the owner is never around. You will only see him briefly when others check in or when you have to pay him something, that’s it. If there’s something you need, don’t try ringing him either ‘cause he won’t pick up the phone.
Two of the guests that I stayed with have celiac disease and the Argentinian law 26.588 states that all hostels and hotels have to include a celiac option at breakfast, when I requested Max to include the cheapest and easiest to get gluten free option (rice toast) he proceeded to mistreat me and yell at me in front of other guests, he also suggested that I pay extra for that “service”, when I had already paid breakfast in advance with the room.
About the room - In the room there’s a sign that will greet you stating the rules and tips of the hostel, you’ll see how nothing in that paper comes true (PIC 1). The room gets properly cleaned only once during the entire stay, and in that time the cleaning ladies will get something stained, either the sheets, the bedspread, or if you’re lucky like me, a thermal top (PIC 2). The rest of the days, they only swept the room and made the bed. In ten days they NEVER changed the bedsheets, NEVER. (PIC 3, A collage of pictures I started taking every other day using a cigarette burn as reference to show that the bedsheets don't get changed). Also, beware of the mattress; It might have springs coming out of it (PIC 4).
The towels NEVER get automatically changed, you have to personally request Max to change the towels and even if you are lucky finding him around, he might not have towels available. So, in a nutshell, they only provide us with clean towels 3 times in 10 days.
The bathroom shower will flood after five minutes of usage, therefore, you’ll have to shower taking 5 minute breaks to allow the water to drain (PIC 5 here is the semi flooded shower after letting it drain for 10 minutes). Other guests have told me that their entire bathroom flooded every time they took a shower, so I was “lucky” in this department.
About other paid services - If you are going to use the laundry service, beware. Even if you use one bag, Max charges per wash not per bag like the sign in the bedroom says (PIC 6), and they deliver the clothing 2 to 3 days later; again, it’s not like the sign promises. (I’ll insert a picture of a pair of socks that were supposedly washed so you can judge by yourself the quality of the laundromat PIC 7).
About the kitchen - If you’re planning to use the shared kitchen, keep in mind it’s poorly equipped, lacks completely of basic resources like dishes, glasses and utensils, you’ll end up buying your own or eating straight from the pan.
In summary: This place is a nightmare, please for your own sake, stay away.
- 492lucyp (6/5): Nice room that's all - Stayed here end of September 2017 in double room with private bathroom. The room itself was great; clean, roomy nice bathroom and hot water. However that was the only really good thing about this place. The kitchen is okay but often very dirty. Breakfast is provided but is very very basic being just a few small pieces of bread/small pastries and coffee and tea. The owner Max is friendly but not very often around. He told us when we arrived he would be around early mornings and late afternoon which we thought was fair enough but even at these times we could not find him. Not much tourist information in the hostel. Location good being just a short 10 minute walk from the centre The price was fine especially as Bariloche is generally expensive (overpriced in my opinion) This place is okay if you can't find anything else decently priced or of you are happy to eat out and find tourist information elsewhere.
- esmeralda_attard (8/5): Awesome breakfast, bit of a walk from centre - I give it a 4* rating because the location of the hostel is quite a walk away from the centre but the owners gladly give you their bus card to use and the bus stop is a 2 minute walk away. The rooms were big and clean and even the shower was spotless. The best thing we had was the breakfast and the fully furnished kitchen makes it super easy to cook yourself a good home meal. The wifi was better downstairs near reception as we were on the second floor. Overall, it felt more like staying with friends rather than in a tourist accommodation.
- Tapolf (8/5): Warm Welcome, Friendly Couple - Lo de Max is quite well located, downtown.
The owners, Gaby and Max, are great hosts, friendly couple helping you to be at home there.
Breakfast should be improved, like in almost every place I went to in Argentina;-))
Prices are unbeatable, service is cool. This is not a four star place, but it is worth staying there a few nights. Patrice, Belgium, 3 nights in room 9;-))
