- susan (10/5): A gem in Encounter Bay! - Yelki by the Sea was in a fabulous location close to the water, restaurants & shops! Sue was such a wonderful host & the heritage house so comfy with everything we needed for our stay! A beautiful garden where we had breakfast in the sun & met her husband John. Such interesting stories were shared about the house which was originally where the whalers of Encounter Bay lived! There was nothing to dislike here!

We enjoyed the garden and birdlife and magnificent views of the ocean across to the bluff. Everything was provided to make our stay enjoyable and special. The beach house cafe is within walking distance and has great meals and atmosphere. Would highly recommend Yelki by the Sea ❤️ Didn't stay long enough 😪

- Janet (10/5): Sue and John are wonderful hosts. We felt very comfortable and very welcomed! Thank you. - We loved the comfortable cottage with all its period charm. Great location in front of the beautiful bay and being close to everything.
- Jason (10/5): Wonderful stay with both history and genuine hospitality. - The historic cottage at Yelki by the Sea was a true delight for us. To stay in a landmark building steeped in history made the stay special. The views across Encounter Bay were wonderful. The cottage is very original with a large fireplace and low doorways typical of homes built in the 1830’s, but it also has the convenience of a modern bathroom and very well-equiped kitchen. The cottage is attached to the main house and offers complete privacy, but the owners John and Sue, who live in the main house are the true treasure of Yelki by the Sea. Their warmth and generosity made our stay at Yelki by the Sea one of the best travel experiences we have ever had.
- Susan (10/5): Delightful cottage by the sea! - Stunning period cottage, fabulous hosts! Lots of thoughtful amenities provided - bathrobes, wine and chocolate. Beautiful location close to everything! Nothing
- Diane (10/5): Old World Charm - Absolutely beautiful little place. The owners Sue & John are just fabulous. So knowledgeable about the history of the place, which has been in the family for approx 130 years. Everything was immaculate. The beds were just so comfortable. We were given a lovely complimentary bottle of wine, chocolates and milk. It is opposite beautiful Encounter Bay, which is lovely to walk along. The Bluff is a few minutes drive away and worth going to. The town centre is only 5 minutes drive. Could not fault anything. Love love love this place.

- Leopold (10/5): Could have happily have stayed longer - Our hosts John and Sue were friendly, personable, informative and welcoming. The attention to small details was very thoughtful, thank you for the chocolates, wine, dip and biscuits, milk and filtered water. The cottage was equipped with linen, soft towels, robes, hairdryer, soap and shampoo and conditioner. Loved the magpies singing in the morning and the cosy backyard setting. Will definitely stay at this small piece of paradise again. The beds are only double so big people may not be comfortable. Also tall people may have an issue as the doorways are quite low. This did not detract from our stay however.

- Penelope (10/5): Staying at Yelki by the Sea was a truly magical experience, and one we'd be happy to repeat. - The location, right on the beachfront, was perfect. Restaurants were close by, and the larger towns of Victor Harbor and Port Elliot were only a short drive away.
We appreciated the little treats left for us (wine, chocolates) and loved the evidence of the place's age - the thick walls, casement windows, the old wood stove in the kitchen, slightly uneven floors. It all made for an experience rather different from that of most b&bs. The character of the building was a drawcard in itself. There was nothing to dislike. Our hosts were friendly and helpful but otherwise unobtrusive, and Sue showed us around and told us about the history of the place. All fascinating stuff.
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location.
Great hosts who gave personal recommendations for places to eat and found family connections.
On leaving, my husband said "We'll be back". Nothing
- Kasiani (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leah (8/5): A Piece of History by the Sea - Location fantastic, and interesting history behind it. Extremely clean. Loved the small, welcoming touches such as chocolates, wine and coffee pods. Fireplace so relaxing to watch whilst drifting off to sleep (excellent view from the main bedroom). On the first night the hot water ran out after the first shower, but after that we just spaced out and had shorter showers and it was fine.
- Ingrid (10/5): Fantastic historic house, lovely and cosy during winter with the open fire and great view. - Beautiful cosy little place right across from the beach and great communication from the owner.
- Sarah (10/5): Fabulous historic cottage by the sea, set up with everything you might need - Great location, very well set up and comfortable, quiet Nothing

- Catherine (10/5): An amazing experience to stay in Encounter Bay’s charming historical cottage. - This cottage is a piece of history. Forget staying in modern, bland surroundings, it is a wonderful experience to stay here. Our friendly hosts shared stories of the cottage, the days of early Encounter Bay and the lives of the people who lived here. The cottage has been lovingly restored, and you will find absolutely everything to make your stay comfortable. We received a lovely welcome card, chocolates and wine on arrival. There is so much to do around the area and a restaurant and general store 5 doors down the road. The gardens of Yelki by the Sea are beautiful and the location is perfect, right opposite the beach with views of the Bluff. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
