Guest Reviews
- James (10/5): - Plenty of beds, close to pubs, and the host Bron, was excellent.
- Jennifer (9/5): Beautiful home, great location, everything you could possibly need provided. - The house was in a great location. We walked to Boags Brewery for a tour. The house was decorated in the house period and so held plenty of interest. We didn't want for anything as it was very well equipped. Everything was very clean. The staircase was very narrow so my recommendation would be to take a smaller suitcase to take up the stairs. My sisters overcame this by using one the downstairs rooms to leave all of the gear and just took upstairs what they needed. Did not detract from the beautiful home.
- Quinten (10/5): Like having a holiday in a home that gives you a hug - Good location, close to food and opp shop
- Cindy (10/5): Location is fantastic and house is very cosy. - Beautiful cottage across from a glorious park.
- Mei (8/5): Great location, clean and comfortable - Convenient, comfortable, clean nothing
- Frédéric (9/5): Calme et bien situé - Calme Rideaux pas assez occultant dans les chambres
- Karen (10/5): Delightful home in an excellent location. - Delightful home! Well equipped kitchen and comfy beds. Easily accommodated 3 couples.
- Dianne (9/5): This is a beautiful home that had everything required for a comfortable stay, within walking distance to most things inc - The home was gorgeous from the first moment you stepped inside the door, beautiful decor mixed with a relaxed feel Nothing
- Josie (10/5): A gem in the heart of Launceston - Ellie's place is an amazing gem in the heart of Launceston, directly across from City Park. Beautifully appointed period cottage. It is simply wonderful and should be experienced. .
- Cathy (10/5): We would love to stay again and spend more time enjoying the beautiful house - Everything, all the little touches and the beautiful old things everywhere Couldn’t stay longer!
- Sarah (8/5): Loved the old world charm and a great host - Quirky and close to what we needed. Very lovely garden out back to sit in. Everything g you need for a comfy stay. Steep narrow stairs to carry up luggage
- Kim (10/5): Fantastic! - LOved everything! Walked in and felt like I was home Couple of mainteneance issues with doors
- Dilek (9/5): It was a perfect base for our time in Launceston. - We had a wonderful stay at Ellie’s place in Launceston. The location is fantastic, and the cottage itself is both quaint and surprisingly spacious. Everything was exceptionally clean and the amenities were excellent. Our only minor issue was that the smaller bedrooms tended to get quite warm and stuffy; we found it a bit difficult to open the windows for airflow. Overall, though, a lovely spot!
- Jennifer (10/5): Homely enjoyable - Location facilities Nothing
- David (10/5): - Fantastic location, adorable house. Lovely and clean, great amenities.
- Hosemans (10/5): Had a fantastic stay in Launceston and at Ellies. - The property was cosy and clean. Great location. Would definitely book again .
- Fiona (5/5): A dusty museum. - We appreciated the great location, the outlook, the amount of space on offer, the well-stocked kitchen and the period features of the house. Despite confirmed final dates 6 weeks in advance of our arrival, the cleaner hadn't been booked in for the correct date and the property was yet to be prepared. We were offered a $100 discount for the trouble, however on arrival, the cleaning appeared to have been rushed and we noted a large amount of dust throughout the property.
To add to this, the ground floor toilet ran continuously, the upstairs toilet seat was loose and unstable, there was rubbish under the couch and we discovered used tissues between the couch cushions when we went to retrieve the remote. Hair was present around the upstairs shower door and the table surface was sticky.
The bedrooms were stuffy and warm, and the only available airflow was a noisy portable fan that blew around the stale air. There was no air-conditioning or easily opened windows for relief. The wrinkled and worn carpet is well overdue for an upgrade, and the cluttered, dark, dusty interior and furnishings need a deep clean. The towels were also in need of an update as they were old, worn and mismatched. I had expected a higher level of cleanliness and comfort given such high reviews.
Unfortunately we left with a double dose of antihistamines and no desire to return.
- Anita (9/5): This property is better than a home away from home. It’s so comfortable and welcoming. It’s in the best location in Laun - The property was so beautiful. We loved the style and the attention to detail. Plenary of space. We enjoyed the gardens and reading the magazines. The neighbours were a bit noisy.
- Brett (10/5): Ellie’s Place is an elegant abode in a centralised location that I would definitely stay in again. - It was excellently positioned and elegantly furnished. A charming place to stay. The main bed that I slept in was too hard for my liking. The back door was a bit tricky to lock and unlock.
- Michele (10/5): - Self Contained, very comfortable and convenient to all we needed to see. Hostess was very attentive and communicated quickly. We would stay there again.
- Vicano (10/5): Cute, cozy and well located! Everything you need for a relaxing stay in Launceston 😊 - Super cozy and perfect to come back to after a busy day exploring. Great location, close to shops, cafes and restaurants. The only thing, and very minor was the coffee machine. Once we ran out of pods we weren’t able to purchase more from the supermarket as they were only available online.
- Barbara (8/5): Thank you for letting us share your home. It was warm and inviting with lots of old world charm. A really short walk to - A wonderful old house. Everything that you could wish for. Lots of attention to detail. Cosy and comfortable. Off street parking was a little hard to access with a big SUV. This wasn’t a problem, as we were out and about during the day and able to park on the street. All bedrooms were upstairs and the long narrow staircase could be difficult to navigate for some people, especially if they had big suitcases.
- Mary (6/5): Great location. - The location was great. The house fitted us all in comfortably. The door lock was difficult to open .
Stairs were difficult for our older member
- Phil (10/5): A wonderful short stay in this lovely city. Too much to explore so we will return. Our host was ace - The large frypan is very tired and worn. Would suggest replacing it. Only item to mention. Location and accommodation was perfect. We will be back many times. ☺️
- Lauren (9/5): - The inclusions were brilliant. Also, the accom was exactly what we required. The owner was really lovely to deal with.
- Barbara (10/5): Ellie’s place was the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and warmth—a welcoming oasis. - The location was fantastic - just a short walk to the main strip, which was perfect for our group. Everyone had different interests and could easily head off to do their own thing during the day, then we’d all meet back at Ellie’s in the evening for a hot meal and some family games. Communication with Bron was flawless - she was friendly, prompt, and made everything so easy from start to finish, which made our stay an absolute pleasure. The sofa-bed downstairs was incredibly comfortable, and my elderly sister, who was celebrating her 60th birthday, especially appreciated not having to navigate the stairs. It was the perfect setup for her, and she felt completely at home.
The house itself was spacious, comfortable, and wonderfully warm. The electric blankets on the beds were a thoughtful touch that we truly appreciated, especially since September in Tassie was still quite cool for us coming from the more warmer part of Australia. Every detail had been considered to make guests feel welcome and at ease.
All in all, it was a fantastic home away from home for our family, and we’ll definitely be booking here again on our next visit. Nothing - everything was absolutely perfect!
- Amy (10/5): - The atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for to showcase the history of this amazing city for my children. The location to the park, convenience of groceries close by ans good coffee and short walk away were all a bonus. Highly recommend!
- Trudi (10/5): Great host, lovely house, great location. - Lovely house. Host was great, this house was brilliant for our group of five, big bathrooms, kitchen had a lot of little extras, walkable to pubs, restaurants, shops, art gallery etc. Nothing.
Just be mindful of the narrow staircase to the upstairs bedrooms if have big heavy bags and are elderly or not very strong.
- Maria (10/5): - Comfy beds, great location and decorated really beautifully and thoughtfully. It was a real experience to stay there Nothing. It was Winter so it was a little cold but the electric blankets were very handy
- Cheryl (9/5): This Home is beautifully furnished and had everything you need - Lovely home
- Vicki (10/5): Ellie’s place was a delight - Gorgeous house, very comfortable. Great communication from the owner location excellent. We had a lovely time Nothing, it was like home away from home
- Kerry (10/5): Great location, close to everything - The history, location and comfort
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - The house was so unique, like something out of a TV show. This heritage house is beautiful and charming, we loved the spacious kitchen the most as we made most of our dinners at the house. Lovely vibes, my dad loved the house so much he didn't want to leave LOL. The location is very central and it's easy to get from 1 place to another. I have shared this listing with my friends and family so they can experience the best stay in Launceston. Highly recommended! Heater took a while to warm up the house but other than that, everything was amazing. My elderly dad hates climbing stairs but he did it anyway because he loves the house so much.
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Libby (8/5): Very good - Location was great. Lots of space inside the house. Nice verandah to catch the sun in the afternoons We needed a bed downstairs and host had forgotten to make up the sofa bed or put out bedding
- Shadwell (9/5): A great Tassie gem - Great location, everything we needed, lovely accommodation
- Shayne (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (9/5): Fabulous , amenities, area, contact with Bron. Just fabulous - Fabulous little gem. Close to everything and is so well stocked with everything you need when away from home. We loved our 2 days there
- Shane (9/5): Absolutely awesome! So much detail in the home and that is how it felt, just like home. - Location was the best. Could easily walk to where you wanted to go in the city as directly opposite the City Park. House was awesome as everywhere you looked you would find something new. Nothing needed as all was provided. Rate this as the best place we stayed during our 2 weeks in Tassie If the BBQ was operational as that is how I like to cook
- Christine (9/5): Beautiful Victorian cottage in central Launceston. - Comfort. Position. Access to town, river, gardens. Decor. Equipment provided. Communication from owner. No locks on bathroom doors. Bedroom door would not close properly.
- Daniella (10/5): Stunning residence in Launceston - Very very comfortable with visual delights everywhere you look. The decor is outstanding. Everything you need plus!
Great communication. Absolutely gorgeous. And the park across the road is lovely. Nothing
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Flamminio (8/5): Very good - Great location, beautiful old house.
- Jennie (9/5): Beautifully decorated, spacious, and comfy! - The house is beautifully decorated with delightful items to enjoy everywhere you look. It is spacious with two living areas downstairs and a large main bedroom with a walk-in robe and three other bedrooms.
It has many excellent features such as comforitable couches, two bathrooms, two TVs, one large, more than the usual kitchen and bathroom supplies, and a lovely courtyard in the back garden. The location, opposite City Park and close to the CBD, is excellent. It suited us perfectly as a base for our wedding in City Park. We were staying when the weather was hot ( 32 degrees), and the bedrooms were too hot, especially the main bedroom. The fans provided didn't do much to cool these spaces. Also, there was a step down from the hall into the family room and from the kitchen to the family room, which I tripped on. When you have multi focal glasses, you don't see such steps very well. Possibly, a warning sign beside the door would be good. The upstairs bathroom window is very low. A child could easily fall out of it. A guard rail of some sort over the window would be good.
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional - Home away from home! Super comfortable in every regard. Stocked with kitchen and laundry essentials, lots of towels, etc. Opposite City Park with free car parking space.
- Anne (9/5): Enjoyable - N/A Some of the Doors upstairs are difficult to shut or don’t shut. Some rooms needed a good dust. Not good when you suffer from allergies
- Wendy (8/5): Very enjoyable. - Uniqueness. Amenities. Dusty furniture, shower wand upstairs bathroom can’t be tightened. Toilet roll holder upstairs bathroom loose. Toilet spray was empty.
- Kathy (9/5): A beautiful property in the perfect location! - Beautifully presented property! Loved the sympathetic decor reflecting the age of the property. The location was 10/10 as it was overlooking City Park. The weather was pretty hot during our stay and although there were fans provided, no aircon made it a little uncomfortable. Would not let that put us of staying again though!
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cameron (10/5): Great location and just a lovely property - Great location and just a lovely property. Full kitchen which was good for cooking breakfast and dinner instead of eating out.
Location was excellent for walking into Launceston, we would visit the monkeys a few times a day in City Park.
The door code entry was just great as there were 5 of us and we could all come and go as we pleased, no stress with a key.
Just a lovely comfortable place to stay.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Jeff (10/5): Exceptional -
- Coates (10/5): I would book this again for family get togethers. - Great location , beautifully presented home. Beds extremely comfortable . Kitchen well stocked with ample of everything you need. Stairs to bedrooms upstairs would not be suited to small children or those with mobility issues although our 4 and 5 year olds managed fine and it was no issue for our group.
- Owen (9/5): Superb -
- Karyl (10/5): Fantastic Home! - Simply wonderful place to stay. We loved it.
The owner was very approachable and friendly. Thr house is well equipped with everything you need, just excellent home! nothing hing
- Rebecca (10/5): Lovely nostalgic place that makes you feel at home. - Beautiful heritage property, great location with lots of lovely touches throughout. What’s not to like?!
- Dehne (9/5): Wonderful 1890s character filled home with modern amenities. - Wonderful 1890s character filled house with modern amenities. Great location, spacious, lovely little courtyard garden, very well equipped and generous bathroom supplies. A few lights needed replacing (reported to owner) and a little more dusting would not have gone astray.
- Kristin (8/5): Right in the heart of Launceston - The location was awesome. We could walk everywhere and really make the most of our first visit to Launceston. The beds were comfy and the linen was nice. I would’ve loved a coffee table in that back room. It felt very cluttered which was a bit of a sensory overload. There were so many cups and plates the kids just kept grabbing new clean ones which meant I did a lot of dishwashing.
- Julie (10/5): A lovely weekend spent in a very comfortable cottage - Very quaint cottage close to the city centre Nothing
- Allan (9/5): Superb -
- Sandra (8/5): Was a lovely stay. -
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional - Location was terrific.
Beautiful park and garden across the road.
Beds so comfortable.
Facilities for kitchen, laundry and bathroom terrific.
Decor very homely.
Able to contact Bronwyn the at any time.
Email information excellent. Staircase was challenging with luggage.
- Carmel (9/5): Superb -
- Lorraine (9/5): Superb - Great locations
- Paul (8/5): A wonderfully comfortable cottage with room to move and old worldly charms. - Ellie’s was very comfortable, room to spread out, three separate sitting areas, so we could get away from each other if needed. The beds were comfortable and cosy. The ducted heater quickly and efficiently warmed the house through the downstairs areas.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victoria (9/5): Great to still find unique places of quality. - The bed was very comfortable, easy walking distance to the city. Wasted time trying to get Netflix on. I really didn't like to bother the host.
- Annette (10/5): Didn't want to leave. Could have stayed here for our whole holiday. Home is amazing, - Everything. Opening the door you step into a beautifully appointed home. Everything you need and want in a holiday stay. Personal touches everywhere. The warmth and love in the home is palpable. From the luxurious bedrooms to comfortable lounge areas and opulent bathrooms this home is amazing. The details in every room made it feel like a home not a rental. Recommend this stay to anyone who appreciates historic homes, total comfort and attention to detail. Nothing.
- Helen (1/5): We didn’t stay. - Central location good. We were unable to stay because of the internal stairs. My son has hay fever and he found the place dusty, effected his breathing.
- Sandhini (9/5): Beautiful and comfortable house. Very spacious and central. - Unique
- Diana (8/5): Very good - Location being opposite City Park, very well stocked house. Very dark interior, quite cool downstairs, very creaky floor boards everywhere, busy noisy road. We also had trouble with WIFI and couldn't connect. We had trouble unlocking door but overcame it. Ignitor on stove top broken so needs attention, as we didn't have Australian cellphone or WIFI we couldn't advise Manager.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joe (9/5): Relaxing in a calm environment - Very comfortable and spacious while also centrally located opposite the beautiful City Park
- Jon (10/5): We had a lovely family time staying here. So cozy - It was a very warm, comfortable and spacious place. Close location to the town centre. Beautiful park across the road. Grocery store not too far away. Well done out in old world style. Fascinating Nothing
- Adrian (9/5): Superb - Ellie's place is a fantastic place with a great historical feel. Perfect location within walking distance to everything needed. Very neat and tidy. Would definitley recommend and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Bronwyn was very accommodating even when we had to return for some left pyjamas 😀
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional - So close to everything and very spacious The stairs 😁
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Launceston. A dream house and facilities, and beautifully located. - The location is just perfect. Lovely City Park just opposite, Pub nearby, and CBD readily walkable. Shopping Centre also close by. The house itself is just spectacular, cosy and comfortable. The bed is a dream and bathroom facilities first class. Car parking spot at back is a bonus. Nothing. The place is ten out of ten.
- Angela (8/5): Very good - Location was great, door code for front door access was awesome, with 5 adult guests there was no need to worry about "who had the keys" if we were coming and going at different times.
2 bathrooms was very handy for our group, particularly with one upstairs and one downstairs.
Lots of space to socialise, good size kitchen. Off-street parking was not an option for our hire car, as the back gate didn't open properly.
Back door got stuck, just needs to be planed/sanded a little at the bottom.
Front door handle was really difficult to turn.
Double-hung sash windows had no way to keep open - previous guest had wedged a spatula in the window to keep it up :-)
- Sue (10/5): We were very comfortable and had a hreat time. - The house was very spacious and comfortable. The location was great. We had no complaints or concerns.
- Anne (7/5): Charming property. Great location. Responsive host. - Central location opposite the park. The owner is quick to respond and happy to help out with anything. Charming period home. Unfortunately we arrived in Launceston during a heat wave! Rooms upstairs were very hot and only had a small fan. Some windows were difficult to open & keep open.
The double room upstairs (front) is quite small compared to the other rooms.
- Rachel (10/5): Our two nights were the most comfortable. The location fantastic. The cottage was just delightful! - It had everything you needed and then more ! Nothing not to like
- Terry (10/5): Comfortable, spacious and quirky. - Everything, perfect host, comfortable, spacious and quirky. Everything you need.
- Juliet (10/5): An easy, comfortable, cozy, homely stay in a lovely location - This was an extremely cozy, comfortable and gorgeous property in an excellent location. Bronwyn had thought of everything and we really appreciated all the thoughtful touches that made the place feel like home (such as coffee pods and a coffee machine, milk, shampoo, conditioner and body wash etc). This is a great place for a family to stay. We would highly recommend this property and we would love to stay here again. Nothing. We loved it!
- Robyn (9/5): Fantastic .We would all stay at Ellies again. - The ambience of the house was fantastic. We all loved the decor and the homely bric brac. Every room had unique touches and character. The living and dining area near the kitchen were wonderful and had just the right balance. There were also extra living areas as well as a piano in the front room.
The beds were very comfortable and everything was clean.
The kitchen was very well supplied along with some food staples that were extremely handy.
Access to the house was easy via a charming little gate and the location was beautiful. We had the park across the road which had monkeys and a plant conservatory. A hotel down the road had good food and great staff.
Of all the places we stayed in Tasmania Ellies was the best even with the wonky gate. The gate to the carpark at the rear of the house is very hard to open and the parking space is tight. It needs repairing urgently. It took two of us at a time to lift and open the wonky gate. Our vehicle just fit in and we could not access the back of our vehicle unless we opened the gates again.
The floor boards in the kitchen area probably need fixing. They are a little wobbly when you walk on them.
- Wei (10/5): Exceptional - Everything is nice. No
- Ramona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dachrmcb (9/5): Would go again - Nothing
- Gabriela (10/5): amazing time spent in a home where you can tell there has been a lot of love - it’s a home away from home! it is beautiful and cozy and has everything you need for a great stay! appreciated all the towels and it’s so spacious that our group felt like it could have quiet time in the second living room when needed. the shops and city centre are also very close
- Anne (7/5): Great - Well stocked and convenient A little too busy with stuff - ie no space to put clothes etc on benches. had to move furniture to open window in Ballet room.
- Anonymous (10/5): Fabulous home and great location enjoyed our stay and Bron was fabulous. - Central location and a beautiful home. Main bathroom mirror to high for us short people
- Emma (10/5): As above - Location, size, cost, comfort. Five star
- Alison (8/5): Very good -
- Li (10/5): Excellent house for a group. Highly recommended. - very well maintained and tastefully done finding the way to the car park
- Dale (10/5): Exceptional -
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deborah (8/5): Very good - Location To cluttered
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Renee (9/5): The property was in a great location, was very well presented and provided a really comfortable stay. - It was a lovely, extremely well presented property that provided all amenities anyone would need whilst staying there. The location was fantastic and it was a really comfortable place to stay. There were only a couple of minor issues to raise, one being the entry into the front door. The code didn’t always seem to register so it was a bit fiddly to get in at times. The other was that in the evening it felt a bit cool in the lounge room that adjoins the kitchen. There were really clear instructions about the heating being on timers and we didn’t like to play around with it at all. But again these were just very minor issues that didn’t impact our stay significantly.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - A beautifully restored and presented home.
