Guest Reviews
- Samuel (10/5): Lovely get away. Would book again - Lovely property. Cosy especially with the fireplace
- Karen (10/5): - This is an amazing place to stay. We stayed in the studio cottage and it was perfect. Had everything we needed and was so cute. We walked to Bells Beach and had an amazing time. Highly recommend
- Renee (8/5): - Calina was lovely, very welcoming, told us about the area, where to go and where the beach was. The cabin was so sweet- we were sorry we didn’t have more time to fully appreciate it!
- Annette (8/5): Great good value and very clean. - Well appointed facilities and kitchen.
Great location
Friendly and accommodating host. No ability to heat without lighting fire.
- Trin (10/5): Would stay again! Absolutely beautiful - What is there not to love !
It was just absolutely beautiful. Nothing at all.
Can’t make 1 single complaint
- Jason (10/5): A great place to base yourself the only issue it’s very hard to leave - An absolutely amazing place homely and inviting
- David (10/5): We stayed in the studio which was excellent. The outdoor enclosed kitchen was perfect for our 3 night stay. Beautiful lo - Great location in Jan Juc.
- Steve (10/5): Wish We had had the Time to Stay a Few More Days - This was a seperate unique dwelling - the term cottage is an understatement. It is a lovely . . . chalet styled brick home with wood beams and other attractive features. The photos don't do it justice. We wish our schedule would have allowed a longer stay. I have a problem with balance and usually get up once or twice to go to the toilet. Unfortunately, the bedroom is in a loft and the bathroom in on the ground floor. And with lovely but somewhat challenging hardwood stairs.
- Jenkins (10/5): -
- Hancock (9/5): - Beautiful location, cottages was built to perfection No curtains on some windows owners residents is located higher bit of a privacy issue.
Furniture bit out dated but still comfortable
- Johnston (10/5): -
- Kurt (10/5): Thank you for a comfortable stay in a nice setting with nicely appointed room - Location, serenity and amenities. No down falls
- Carol (10/5): Perfect in every respect - Everything. It was quiet, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The detached kitchen for guest use was a welcome bonus. The hosts are very welcoming and I wished I had booked two nights. Nothing.
- Beverley (10/5): Excelled our expectations and was perfect for our 2 night stay - Uniqueness and privacy Shower curtain
- Adriana (10/5): -
- Francesca (9/5): ottima struttura con ottima posizione - cortesia, stupenda la posizione nulla
- Bronwyn (8/5): -
- Andrew (9/5): - Room was excellent and clean. Bed comfortable. Shower great. Maybe they need a sign at the gate to help weary travellers.
- Pieternella (8/5): Can fully recommend, private separate unit, welcoming host - Roomy, clean, cooking facilities, private, private secluded deck
- Robert (9/5): An excellent stay at the beginning of the great Ocean Road - Very large and spacious, very clean! Nothing
- Miriam (10/5): -
- Alex (10/5): -
- Stephanie (8/5): Comfortable , clean self contained studio . - Great location , quiet spot and was useful having on site parking .
- Deborah (10/5): Perfect place to stay and only a short drive to restaurants in Torquay - Clean, tidy and perfectly appointed NA
- Karen (9/5): Very peaceful place to stay for a holiday in a comfortable and clean room. - The white studio room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and well designed. What I also appreciated was there were lots of fluffy towels supplied. We used the "cook out" room next to the cabin to prepare our meals. This facility was basic but was suitable to preparing simple meals and refrigerating our food whilst on holidays. It is close to Jan Juc beach and a short drive to Torque for shopping. The hosts were away but kept in touch via text message. Air fryer in cook out room was faulty. However, the gas cook top, fridge, kettle and toaster all worked well.
- Monika (9/5): -
- Michel & Helen (7/5): - It was difficult to find the property as the street number was not visible to us from the road - nor was the name of the property visible to us - and we looked more than once. The kitchen facility is not in the room - it was not clean although adequate. The property is not cheap - we were disappointed.
- Megan (10/5): -
- Jane (9/5): A comfortable place to stay not too far from the beach with a every welcoming host - It was very private and quiet
- Robert (10/5): -
- Wil (10/5): Excellent place to stay -
- Linda (4/5): Very disappointing. - There was no sink or table and chairs in the cabin outside kitchen which was very basic and again no where to sit .
The road into the property was gravel and needed to be graded .
The cabin was clean and the bathroom was nice.
- Ute (9/5): -
- Athanasia (10/5): Cozy and comfortable place. Shower was great and perfect for one night - Shower was amazing and great pressure
And bed was extremely cozy and comfortable
- Lachlan (10/5): -
- Carsten (10/5): Tolles Cottage - Sehr besondere Unterkunft mit ganz lieben Vermietern Nichts
- Johansson (8/5): Transparency is good. - I liked the accommodation but was expecting it to look like the photo that was advertised on the booking.com site. I chose this accommodation because of the uniqueness displayed in the pis/description. Full transparency would have been afforded to me the customer. I didn't like paying top dollar and arriving to find it was smaller/not what I was expecting at all. It was a lovely but please offer what is described for the money I am paying.
- Dale (10/5): Comfortable and relaxing - We stayed in the one bed cabin and it was comfortable and quiet. Stayed for one night but could have stayed for longer. Some great beaches nearby for surfing and swimming. N/A
- baschny (10/5): - Das Haus ist wirklich etwas Besonderes, gut ausgestattet und wirklich einzigartig in der Einrichtung und der Gestaltung. Hat uns sehr gut gefallen Alles war super
- Ange (8/5): Clean and peaceful with welcoming host - Well suited location for a local friends party.
Host was very nice and cottage was immaculate. You must bring an eye mask. Room is painfully bright despite as there is one window without a blind.
- David (10/5): - Unique, well equipped and comfortable
- Amanda (9/5): Such a lovely place to stay. Clean & comfortable. Bathroom was fantastic. - Clean & Tidy. Beautiful bathroom. Comfy bed. Everything we needed. Nothing
- Courtney (8/5): - We enjoyed exploring nearby and around Jan Juc and as always loved the ocean, Torquay & getting out of the city. The bottom step of the cabin needs to be visible at night. After a few drinks I fell & my husband fell coming to help me.
- Emma (9/5): - Gorgeous building, comfy bed, great location with easy walk to the beach Some of the amenities were a bit basic for the price like the TV, kitchen supplies and shower
- Mojca (10/5): -
- Henri (10/5): - Le gîte était très bien décoré et confortable. Une cuisine attenante pour les repas. Très calme

- Manda (10/5): -
- Astyn (8/5): - Host was lovely and welcoming. Cottage is beautiful and tranquil. It was such a lovely getaway.
- Cathy (10/5): Rustic beauty - Loved the rustic beauty. Very comfy...great host. Would stay again.
- Julie (10/5): Close to Bells beach. Nice pub for dinner down the road. - Check in was easy, hosts welcoming. Had everything we needed. Lovely surroundings. The only negative would be the water jug in the fridge wasn’t full.
- Carl (7/5): - The quiet bushy environment. The rustic style of the cottage, spacious living area. The host was helpful, lit the slow combustion heater for us and allowed a later checkout. Having to go downstairs to the bathroom from the bedroom; not ideal in the middle of the night
Shower in the bath is awkward to get in and out of; much prefer a shower cubicle
- Paris (10/5): absolutely stunning cottage with plenty of space - i loved the windows upstairs and the open plan
- Sharon (10/5): Love this place, will definitely be back. - Absolutely beautiful cottage, has everything you could possibly need. Lovely decor and well laid out. Owner very helpful and attentive.
- nicholas (10/5): Secluded and yet convenient stay in Jan Juc - The cottage was lovely with it's porch and outdoor seating and a good shower inside the bathroom. From the bath towels to ample tea and coffee there were lots of small details that made the stay work. We also loved Jan Juc and the Calina's recommendation for dinner at Bird Rock restaurant gave a great meal out. All in all, a wonderful weekend. Nothing
- Anthony (9/5): -
- Matteo (9/5): -
- Calum (10/5): Charming, peaceful, spacious cottage - The cottage was spotlessly clean, comfortable, very quiet, and within walking distance to Bell's Beach. Nothing
- Ian (10/5): A lovely short break with my wife - Comfortable quiet within walking distance of beaches
- Poletayeva (10/5): -
- Pauline (8/5): - It was lovely and quiet Bit disappointed about not having kitchen inside unit. Outdoor kitchen at night when its dark isn't helpful
- David (9/5): - Location was perfect, not far from RACV resort where my conference was and very close to shops and beach esplanade.
- Margaret (9/5): It was what we needed for an overnight stay. - Quiet location. Great shower.
- Alan (9/5): -
- Rebecca (9/5): -
- Nick (6/5): Most disappointing stay of our vacation - We liked the beach hotel in town Sadly the place was not as described, we thought we were getting the nice red and white brick cottage with a nice kitchen etc as per the photos. Instead we got a little wooden box with a dilapidated outside kitchen, the box had little or no sound insulation so we were woken very early. Also the distances stated to walk to beach or town are serious underestimates, unless there are some shortcuts google does not know about
- David (10/5): Great stay and location - Very clean and well appointed room great for an overnight stay
- Stephen (9/5): - Location was great and quite The heater in the bathroom was not working, and you could not close the small bathroom window and as it was only
4 outside it was very cold. Also, it needed a blind on the stained-glass doors to kept heat in and light out.
- E A (10/5): - A fantastic place!
- Scott (9/5): - Peaceful location, and a short walk or drive to the the beach and local shops/restaurants; there is also a nearby walking track that follows the cliff line from Torquay to Bells Beach, which makes for a great start to the day followed by coffee at Swell Cafe in Jan Juc. The cottage is well equipped for a couple or solo traveler, with a microwave, kettle and toaster in the room, and there is a well-appointed kitchen next door for the use of cottage guests if you wish to make more elaborate meals. Secure parking onsite. Communications with the host were friendly and prompt. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. N/A
- Butler (10/5): - Incredible stay. Thank you so much Calina and Frank. Loved it. So cozy, comfortable and the perfect little get aeay
- Renwick (8/5): A very large beautiful and unique apartment with a lovely bedroom loft and comfy bed. - Excellent location, very quiet surroundings, loved that our host lit the fire so that the apartment would be nice and warm when we arrived back later that night.
- Justin (9/5): -
- Claire (10/5): Jan juc - Comfy. Quiet. Lovely shower. Comfy bed. Nothing.
- Mark (8/5): -
- Jodie (9/5): -
- Adam (8/5): Convenient and complete cottage stay in Torquay - The location is quiet and is on private property. There are no signs out the front so you just need to trust the SatNav and drive in. The hosts are lovely and helpful. The unit is well setup, but if you are wanting to cook your own food the kitchen area is seperate in a space immediately next to the unit itself. The internet did not work while we were there, but as we were only staying one night we linked to our phone instead of bothering the hosts (who could likely have fixed it) - the unit could also benefit from some coat hooks to hang jackets to dry overnight (there is a cupboard with coat hangers)
- Purvi (10/5): -
- Ruth (10/5): Wonderful - Quiet, restful and peaceful. Nil
- Carolann (8/5): Great comfortable stay / good walk to the beach - Quirky, lots of room - it was cold as it’s winter time but there is a super large log burner which heats up very quickly. would loved to have stayed in the summer but we are visiting from Uk facilities really good and comfortable
- Colleen (10/5): Fantastic, wish we were able to stay longer. - Spotlessly clean, everything needed including toaster ans kettle. Kitchen fully equipped right beside the cottage we had. Cooking could be done without the odours in cabin - fantastic idea imo.
lovely tree area, close to beach and shops.
Hostess was very nice. Nothing imo.
- Brent (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jamie (8/5): Great little spot tucked away from all the touristy people. - Great little spot for a getaway, the owners were especially helpful especially as I had a trailer on when I arrived helping to manoeuvre to get out again. I didn’t find the bed all that comfortable but that is just how I find it when not in my own.
- Peter (10/5): Tranquilty - Beautiful place perfect
- Pasqualina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerry (10/5): Exceptional - The quiet location.
Wonderful woodwork and presentation .
Facilities.
Comfortable bed.
Great kitchen. There was nothing i didn't like.
- Mal (7/5): Good - Plenty of room, easy access, quiet. Nothing
- Casidy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aaron (10/5): Absolutely loved the cosy cottage, and the exposed timber trusses. Great location, comfy bed and a warm wood fire set th - Well built and amazing property.
- Morvareed (9/5): Superb -
- Wendy (10/5): Fabulous stay, would definitely go again. - The location was great, very quiet and perfect for what we wanted. The host had the fire going when we arrived. It was neat and clean and close to shops. Nothing
- Lisa (6/5): Pleasant -
- Carroll (9/5): Superb -
- Jason (8/5): Quiet peaceful location with a comfy feel -
- Alana (8/5): Comfortable cottage with access to great beaches in beautiful surrounds - A beautiful cottage set in quiet surrounds, close to Jan Juc and Bells beach but away from the hustle and bustle. The cottage was clean, warm and comfortable. The effort to include snacks was certainly appreciated! I would highly recommend replacing the pillows. They are a small but important improvement for a $400 per night stay.
