Guest Reviews
- Terence (5/5): The house offers a nice getaway which of could be improved with some more attention to the needs of guests. - The driveway was scary
No wifi and no phone reception was dangerous particularly when a tree fell nearby blocking the exit
No basics like soap, long life milk etc was disappointing given the general store was closed
- David (8/5): - Views. No amenities (soap, shampoo). Driveway is difficult to use.
- edmund (7/5): Overall good value for money- also I think the cleaners should check the dishes have been washed properly- stained cups - The driveway was too steep and the car was struggling to make up the driveway - loose gravel made it hard
- Oxana (7/5): It was nice! - Views amazing and I loved the deck area
And updated Could be cleaner
Driveway is a challenge
Beds and pillows okay but I didn’t find it comfortable

- Pippa (7/5): We would like to come back, but suggest the owners find a new management agent. - The view from the deck was spectacular. The home was simple but met all our needs and expectations. It was not clear that you had to pick up keys in Lorne. We got to the property (after 3 hours driving with car sick kids) and tried to use the pin provided to open the key box. When we called Great Ocean Road Properties for support, we reached an offshore call centre, and were redirected to pick up keys in Lorne. It also wasn’t clear that we had to return keys in Lorne at 10am. We thoroughly cleaned and vacated the property at 10am intending to enjoy a day in Wye River, only to discover we had to race back to Lorne to avoid being charged an extra night. All in all, this ruined our experience.
We also understood that we had to bring linen (an inconvenience, but fine). We understood there to be 2 double beds, and we brought double linens. When going to make the beds, we realised they were queen and our linen did not fit properly. Again, this should have been clearer.

- Sheila (9/5): Glorious stay with beautiful views - Location, house layout and that everything you need was supplied. Spices, glad wrap, oil etc etc. Driveway a bit tricky and nowhere else to park, but no big deal.
- Samantha (8/5): Perfect for a short getaway with friends - Lovely house, very comfortable Driveway is a bit scary!! Make sure to reverse down
- Nicole (9/5): Superb - The place was very clean and also practical and great views The driveway is pretty terrible and the fact a camera from next door is facing straight into the house is not very accommodating.
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shelley (9/5): Lovely accommodation in a super spot. - We loved the location and views, the home was very comfy and had what we needed, it suited us for the weekend and would most likely visit again. There seemed to be misinterpretation on the bedding information as it was advised to bring linen unless we pay for it to be provided, but when we arrived it really was only towels and a base sheet and pillow case we needed. We had brought everything, pillows, doonas, sheets etc.
The driveway is quite hard to get up, especially with rainy weather and we did almost struggle on one occasion.
Personally for the cost we paid, I would have liked all linen and towels to be part of that cost. Otherwise we did enjoy the home.
- Jai (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tess (8/5): Excellent relaxing break - The view the birds and tranquility We found the driveway difficult to negotiate especially getting back up the hill had to turn the car around which wasn’t easy.
- Jane (9/5): Yes I would book again - The views were fantastic and it was clean and warm The driveway is really difficult, only went halfway down or you can get stuck.
Also would be easier to pick up and leave keys in the key box which has a code than have to go to the real estate office.
- Emma (7/5): Good -
- Maria (10/5): Great house with excellent views! - Beautiful views, peaceful and quiet. Comfortable and clean space and close to bush walks. Agency managed and big process around check-in formality and expectations to pick up key from Lorne. Ended up getting keys through lock box.
- Jacqui (9/5): We just loved seeing the kookaburras and cockatoos pop in for a visit and Gina nd tonics on the deck just lovely! - Beautiful view, coffee machine is great! Really simple to look after!
- Qusay (9/5): Superb -
- Adrijana (8/5): Lovely family getaway - We loved the location, the house is lovely and comfortable for a family of 5. The views are amazing. We struggled with the steep driveway and having to reverse park into it. I am sure it's no trouble at all for residents who live there and are used to steep driveways, but we found it a bit challenging.
- Sevgi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cara (8/5): Very good -
- Cleo (4/5): Disappointing - Great place, but we would never come back because of management. We picked this location as it was one of the last options for a last-minute trip, and I cannot stress this enough: not providing linen as part of the accommodation is unacceptable. What do you think is the main purpose of booking your property if not having a place to sleep? Linen and towels were not included, or had to be paid for.
By the way, the quote we were given included two queen-size beds (same as advertised), and when we brought our own linen all the way from Sydney, we arrived to find that the beds were actually double beds.
There was also no internet at the property, which theoretically isn't an issue, but when 4 out of 5 guests only had an SOS network, maybe you should reconsider.
Finally, we found the amount of instructions we received to be truly unreasonable. You arrive to a one-pager telling you that when checking out, you have to clean the toilet, the bathroom, vacuum and mop all floors, and take out all the bins up the hill and down the road on a Sunday Night for pickup. To top it off, there was a bold message stating that if you didn’t book directly with them, you had lost a lot of money. Lovely.
As for the check out, you have to return the keys to their office, which is 20 minutes away by car.
All this, along with the reminder that this place was NOT cheap by any means—nowhere near cheap enough to justify having five guests needing to bring their own linen and towels.
I just want to emphasize that the actual place is lovely, very clean, and has an amazing view, but we all agreed that everything else mentioned above ruined it for us, and we wouldn’t intentionally choose this place again because of it.
- Brenda (8/5): Very good - The view was fantastic and it had everything we needed for the weekend. The shower took ages to warm up so it was impossible not to waste alot of water waiting for it to warm up
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (8/5): Very relaxing - Location and the beach views The balcony and views
Easy to get to the beach
- Sunnoo (5/5): Was okay - The beach view The couch was full of animal fur and no network
- Patricia (7/5): Good - Lovely view, comfortable beds, well-equipped, plenty of space for 6 adults. No WiFi, no linen supplied, tricky driveway
- Sofia (10/5): Perfect views. - Perfect view for a lovely mini break. Comfortable, clean and peaceful. We really appreciated that our pet could accompany us. Thank you for the chocolates too. A lounge on the deck would have made the outdoor deck just perfect.
- Bernice (7/5): Nice house. Good as long as you’re happy to clean the whole house before you leave. - Location was good and the view was nice. The house was basic but had everything we needed for a comfortable weekend away. We received instructions at several points (after booking) that we would have to clean the place quite extensively (ie. kitchen, bathroom and floors) and we already had to provide our own linen, towels and tea towels. It was more DIY than I would have liked so I would be hesitant to stay again.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
