Guest Reviews
- Donna (10/5): - Ella's Place is a charming, welcoming cottage. It is fitted out with everything you could possibly need. It is filled with memorabilia and feels like you are in a family holiday house rather than a sterile apartment. nothing
- Jan (10/5): Very enjoyable - Loved the bed … so comfortable!
- Matthew (10/5): Quaint old cottage, lovingly maintained and modernised. - Quiet location, plenty of facilities included. No complaints.
- Manfred (9/5): - No door keys but door code
- Malcolm (9/5): An ideal place to stay within walking distance of many of the attractions of Broken Hill - Quiet, clean, generously equipped. It would be hard to find anywhere else in Broken Hill as good as this. Slight problems with large TV but hardly surprising as we don’t have anything like this at home and anyway there was little or no time to watch anything. We would unhesitatingly stay there again if we revisited Broken Hill and the place was available. Broken Hill was fascinating. A couple of minor things. The screen door at the back entrance needs some attention to make it close fully and some dud light bulbs in the lounge room need replacing.

- Lyn (8/5): So glad we stayed in this lovely home with everything we could wish to rather than a bland small hotel room. - It was so lovely to be in a home with separate spaces. My husband and I took his mum and the different areas allowed us all to both gather and have our own space. Each room was interesting and pleasant and real thought went into providing the extra touches. The owners were incredible! You often read that in reviews and I am always mystified by it - but this time the offer to pick us up from the train(so unexpected, so appreciates - can’t tell you the difference that made e after the long train trip) and cheerily replacing BBQ gas bottle - just lovely. Also loved the story of the house restoration and the masses of activity suggestions. It would have been nice to use the outside picnic table in the shade but they weren’t really suitable
- John (10/5): A quaint and spacious cottage for a stay in Broken Hill - Comfortable, spacious and a great host.
- Stuart (8/5): - Really liked the character and history of the property. Very comfortable for our group of 5 and close to points of interest. So much more atmospheric than staying in a motel or hotel.
- Margery (10/5): Comfortable, enjoyable and highly recommended to anyone! - Beautifully redecorated miner’s cottage with everything we needed and more! Comfortable, warm, interesting and quirky decor- we loved it! Garden area and yard pleasant and useful and front aspect gorgeous. Everything was excellent.
- Sharyn (10/5): -
- Joy (10/5): A wonderful place to stay . - A home away from home
Furnishings
All the added touches
- Frank (9/5): Lovely accomodation Great and Broken Hill a very interesting Town. - The House an old Miners Cottage was great. The Host Corrine made sure everything was spotless and even stocked the cupboard with some staple foods just in case we had not had a chance to get to the supermarket. The location was walking distance to the Town centre. I highly recommend Ellas Cottage. There really wasn't anything we did not like.
- Larrainec (9/5): Quaint stay in Broken Hill - Quaint cottage, comfortable, well equipped. Second bedroom was a 'double' bed which was a bot squishy for the second couple. Advertised '2x bathrooms ' but really 1 bathroom, one shower and toilet in downstairs laundry.
- Simplyadiva (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful old time restored cottage, was great to have staples in the fridge. Bed was so comfortable and the house lovely and clean Nothing
- Jill (10/5): A gem in the outback - What a gem! We were so lucky to have been able to find this quaint, authentic and comfortable little house. It is so hard to find decent accommodation in the outback, just a shame we couldn’t stay longer. Lovingly restored with great attention to detail, what a huge job! Loved and appreciated all the little extras too, thank you Corinne. Nothing
- Christine (10/5): Back in time - We booked a miners cottage as it is part of Broken Hill history. Once you step inside, you are transformed back to the early 19th century. It's just amazing and done with such detail. A Credit to Corinne and Kim.
- Fiona (10/5): The best place to stay. - Beautifully renovated and decorated.
Lots of little extra touches that made it so welcoming. Nothing
- Jenni (10/5): Exceptional -

- Kay (9/5): Very comfortable way to feel in touch with Bendigo’s rich history. - Lovingly restored with beautiful art works. Back gardens were very attractive with lots of birds.
- Del (10/5): Exceptional - Ella's Place is an absolute gem. The house has everything one could possibly need or want ...... and more. There are numerous aircon units, having a washing machine is a great help, and a large fridge/freezer. The spacious house is gracious, has high ceilings, is beautifully furnished, very well appointed and decorated, and has vintage and antique treasures throughout. So much attention to detail. The house is very conveniently situated - a short drive to the town centre, and close to many incredible sights. Our stay here was a real joy.
Corrine and Kim were incredibly helpful and responded promptly to communications. Our gratitude for a wonderful stay in Broken Hill.
- Ken (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thierry (10/5): So happy we stayed here! The host is most obliging for any extras! - Excellent private location away from the centre of the city. Old world charm residence from early 1900's with plenty of warmth. Decor is vogue to the era yet with all the mod cons. Parking for multiple vehicles is available and the shower works a treat. Nice quiet neighbourhood to sleep, loved it. Nothing to not like, we loved our stay.

- Lesley (10/5): One of the best places o have ever stayed on a holiday. - This house is a real gem. It’s cosy, spacious, clean, interesting, comfortable and affordable. It’s a ‘home’ for the duration of your stay. It has all home facilities including living room dining room kitchen etc. It’s a decent walk to town One of the best places I have ever stayed in. Do yourself a favour and book it. Nothing. It’s a walk or drive to the centre which was fine for us.
- Bruce (10/5): Awesome stay in heritage Broken Hill "tinny" cottage with lots of interesting history and charm. - We used a door code for a digital lock. It worked very well. We loved everything about this fabulous house.

- Ashish (8/5): Hidden historical gem in the middle of Broken Hill - Character filled and lovingly restored cottage- like a living museum! Nothibg really!
- Gloria (8/5): great cooking equipment & breakfast food supplies -quality bedding would give the Hliton a nudge - amazing homely little cottage - OMG moment when we entered (looked as if Grandma had just left the building)
I guess was the best one could do with what they were working with but bathrooms (shower over clawfoot bath difficult for seniors) & pedestal basin only then thru curtain to shower cubicle in laundry adjacent to the only toilet.
- Amber (9/5): Brilliantly restored old home with loads of history and charm but Uber comfy beds and creature comforts like A/C in -
- Darren (8/5): Wonderful stay in a lovely period cottage, with all our needs catered for. -
- Marie (9/5): Superb -
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely old renovated house full of character and brimming with old artifacts and antiques. The owners had left generous supplies of everything you could think of. They had even left a folder on the history of the house and previous owners which was fascinating. The surrounding area was a bit run down and its a bit too far to walk into town. Having said that the positives far outweigh the negatives and if I came to Broken Hill again I would definitely stay here for the charm and character of the house.
