Guest Reviews
- Barbara (8/5): Nice quiet property in the Dandenongs. - Quiet, secluded location. Thoughtful preparation of breakfast hamper. Steep and unsealed drive way. Bed in 2nd BR v very uncomfortable.
- Brian (3/5): Nice location - Location near botanical gardens Oddly, they sent me a message indicating that I left front door open, which was untrue. They also told me that they were able to get a non working dryer to work after I left. Unfortunately, they wouldn’t attempt to fix it during our stay and sent me the manual and wanted me to fix it based on instructions they sent me. Hosts might not be suited for careers in hospitality.
Aside from above, the property was ok. Bedroom smells a bit musty, it’s an older building, so that might be why. The living room and kitchen have been renovated.
- Vivian (8/5): A comfortable stay and a bit pricy. Thank you - It was good to have a few essentials. The front door and front security door was squeaking.
- Yin Yen (10/5): Excellent property, spoiled with the kind provisions! Will definitely come back! - 2 separte bedrooms. Well stocked kitchen and had variety of coffee pods. They were so kind to provide oil, cling wrap, even bread and snacks - variety of pots and pans, colander and cooking utensis. This was so well thought out to make our stay comfrotable. There was great designed and cooling so even the bedrooms could be warmed or cold, not just the lounge. To have netflix and other streaming on the TV was amazing! The second bedroom had bunk beds, great for kids but not so good for an adult. There were stairs leading down to the actual house which could be problem for older people to bring the luggage to the house - not for us though.
- Ross (8/5): We enjoyed the comforts that Camellia Cottage offered us and its proximity to places of interest. - The proximity to the shops and eateries in Olinda was excellent - only a 5 minute walk. Similarly, the gates to the Dandenong Ranges Botanical Gardens were only 5 minutes walk in a different direction.
As the weather was very cool on the first evening we arrived, we appreciated the heating provided in the cottage and the comfortable bed.
Importantly for us also, the cottage was fully self-contained with a great kitchen, bathroom and laundry. We didn’t like the stairs that provided access to the cottage from the carport. As it was was quite cold and windy on the afternoon we arrived, we also became concerned about the size and height of several gum trees on and/or near the property that were well within falling range of the cottage.
- Susan (8/5): - Location, clean, neat and warm. The weather! We were there for the coldest November day in over 100 years! 😂
- Lindsay (10/5): -
- Robert and Karen (9/5): Fabulous Location for a self-contained stay in Olinda - The house inside was well presented, extremely clean and well equipped for a fully self contained stay. The lounge was comfortable, as was the bed. There was excellent ducted heating. Bathroom was well equipped, modern and very clean. Only suggestion is provision of a non-slip mat. There is a washing machine and dryer in the bathroom. The location is excellent - super easy walk to the Botanic Gardens, and to Olinda Village. An IGA is about a 5 minute drive and there is a Woolworths at Monbulk. The outside of the house is in very poor condition. The outside furniture needs cleaning as do the windows and the outside of the house. The stairs down from the carport could do with some attention to ensure safety. The yard needs a really good tidy up. It was such a shame, as the inside of the house was lovely.
- Isabelle (8/5): Very good -
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (10/5): Camellia Cottage was perfect - everything you need, quality fittings and furniture and super clean. - Location was perfect - easy stroll to the shops and cafes nearby. We were provided with a continental breakfast basket with bread, muesli, jam, etc. which was plenty for both mornings of our stay. A nice touch. Nothing.
- David (9/5): wonderful- good as last time and so convenient to family -
- Noel (8/5): Very nice - Small and compact ?
- Jesse (9/5): Superb -
- Judith (9/5): Superb - Gorgeous cottage, on outskirts, quiet but walking distance to town Just thought window cleaning and a little bit of outdoor maintenance are needed
- Linda (10/5): Cosy and cute, would have loved to stay longer! - Super cosy and perfect for our short stay to attend a local wedding. Cottage was well-appointed and the supply of essential groceries was ideal.
- Catherine (10/5): A lovely getaway. - I loved the breakfast hamper. The central heating was great. A lovely modern kitchen and bathroom. Warmer doonas on the beds please. I was cold at night. Kmart have cheap high warmth doonas.
- Veronica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roger (10/5): Exceptional - The location was ideal on the outskirts of Olinda very close to the Botanic Gardens which were beautiful and well worth visiting. The shops and cafes were a short walk away. We enjoyed the varied birdlife in the garden. We appreciated the welcome pack provided. The cottage was a warm, cosy place to stay and we'd love to stay again next time we visit Melbourne We felt that more crockery and cutlery would be a good idea to enable more efficient use of the dishwasher
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Staying at the Camellia was more than a pleasure! The place was so very comfortable, clean and well stocked/prepared for some serious R&R. Really impressed 😊 Nothing to mention
- Geoffrey (10/5): Exceptional - The Olinda area is beautiful. The cottage is filled with high quality furniture and appliances and is very comfortable to live in. It felt like home. The welcome pack was appreciated after along journey. The tap and vanity cabinet in the bathroom can be used but need fixing. Not a big problem but detracts from a perfect stay.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Margaret (9/5): I'd stay here again. - Great quiet 2 bedroom cottage with large full-equipped kitchen. Underfloor heating was a boon, as was the large amount of breakfast supplies. Very clean and comfortable. Walkable path through it's scrambled bush garden. Poor reading lights over couch in lounge. 7 stairs down from car park was a surprise - should be noted in details of property. Dirty grout in toilet floor tiles. Needs a bigger sign on street corner.
- Kathryn (9/5): Highly recommended this Olinda gem - Location, size and cleanliness of the cottage. Comfortable beds, and plenty of bedding and blankets. Great bathroom/laundry with washer and dryer, a clothes horse, as well as Tastic heating. Lots of towels. Large, modern functional kitchen with dishwasher and full size fridge. Big TV, sofas, and large dining table. Nice outdoor seating, in either sun or shade, and bird seed to feed the parrots that visited all the time. We bought more seed because the parrots were coming throughout the day. A bonus to have the Dandenong Botanic Gardens just a couple of minutes walk away. The sofa was a little uncomfortable, couldn’t open the spare bedroom window, missing fly screens on one of the kitchen windows and late in our stay one of the LED lights in the kitchen started flashing, which made it hard to have the other kitchen lights on.
- Sylvia (8/5): Comfortable, pretty garden and bush surroundings and peaceful. - The location - very peaceful. The facilities had everything you needed. Very good heating system. Good flyscreens and doors. No separate door on the toilet. No barrier at the end of the driveway to stop you driving over the edge, especially in the dark. No hair dryer
- Markb (9/5): Great location for short stay in the Dandenongs. - great location, comfortable bed, great facilities.
- Tze (9/5): Awesome stay at Camellia Cottage. It has everything that you need and my family enjoy the stay - Very spacious and cosy place. Host was nice to provide a basket of goodies for us We encountered some problems finding the keys. Thanks to the neighbour who provided us directions. Felt that instructions to collect the keys could be clearer
