Guest Reviews
- Pauline (5/5): Disappointed. - N/a No twin beds as advertised
Pillows the worst (unusable)
No wardrobes
Nowhere to put suitcases
No door hooks in bedrooms and bathroom
No coffee tables ( to place glass/cup) in lounge
No tablets/liquid provided for dishwasher
- Melissa (9/5): - Property was very clean, comfortable and walking distance to main street. Beautiful property, great ammenities and fantastic for a family of four. Tried to get an 30-60min earlier checkin given had to get to a wedding and wasn't able to confirm whether they could accomodate.
- Natalie (10/5): - Cosy and close
To shops
- raybie (8/5): - Great location and very tidy house Need cupboard space in bedrooms.
- Vanessa (8/5): Comfortable modern cottage in Daylesford - Beautifully renovated cottage - beds were so comfortable - best on our trip. The gas fire is very effective and the decor is lovely. Nothing
- Peter (10/5): Terrific short stay and thoroughly suited our needs. - Comfortable and clean. Great communication from the owners. Perfect for what we needed. Liked everything about it but little things like nowhere in the shower to place shampoo or soap were a minor annoyance. Wouldn’t bother us except you’re paying $295 a night and for that we would expect it to be faultless.
- Teegan (5/5): Great location but give this cottage a miss - Great location The property was so dirty. We checked in on Thursday and the smell walking down the path to the front door was one I won’t forget in a while. It was rubbish that was left on the side of the house. I rang the mobile number provided, moved to trash to the front of the cottage and housekeeping came to pick it up after I said this wasn’t acceptable and I wanted this removed now.
We then entered the cottage. It was dirty. Window ledges had flys all over them, no one clearly knows what a duster is and the air con had mould growing on it. I went down to Cole’s and purchased antibacterial wipes and chux wipes and came back and gave the cottage a really good clean inside.
In the bedrooms there is tiny storage for clothes, opened them and they were full of chucked in (not folded) linen and towels. I pulled them all out so we could use them for clothes, refolded and popped them back in when we left.
The freezer has some really dirty items in it and refused to remove them as I think I did enough.
Then last night the rain came down and was woken up to loud knocking. My husband went to investigate as it sounded like a neighbour was hammering something, however it was a broken down pipe hitting the tin roof. Good luck to anyone staying there in winter as this is going to be loud.
It’s such a shame that this cottage was in the state it was.The outdoor furniture is run down, the outdoor railing is falling off and it’s so unsafe for kids to play outside.
We stayed there in 2024 and it was perfect. We defiantly won’t be back after this stay. If you want a cosy clean cottage, don’t stay here. It’s run down, and not well looked after at all.
- Mark (8/5): -
- Anne (9/5): Would recommend to stay again - Very clean. Lovely decor. Quiet location
- Nicholas (9/5): Great location, really comfortable space. Amazing bedding. -
- Jan (9/5): -
- Diana (9/5): A lovely place to stay and we’ll be planning a longer visit for next time. - Very comfortable with everything you could need. And it looks wonderful. What a lovely welcoming place. I wish we’d been staying longer. The step down to the bathroom/laundry was a bit of a trap if you’re not paying attention.
- Kylie (9/5): - House was clean & presentable. Location to main shops & restaurants was fantastic. Bed was comfy.
- Nichole (10/5): -
- Graham (5/5): Description is not correct - warning to elderly or mobility impaired. - This is a two bedroom cottage with an open plan kitchen/lounge and a bathroom at the back. The beds were very comfortable. Location is good although there is a noisy neighbour. The description is not correct. The house is around 60sqm, add on a bit for the back deck and front porch, no where near the 250sqm claimed. It is not wheelchair accessible. There is a step to the front door and a serious internal step leading down to the bathroom. This step is higher than standard and no handrail. Despite lots of photos showing nic-nacs and cushions, there are no photos highlighting these steps. They should be disclosed for elderly or mobility limited people.
- Elaine (10/5): - Delightful cottage in a perfect position to enjoy strolls to gallery, gardens, shops and restaurants.
Everything was catered for with a full kitchen which would be perfect for a longer stay.
- Lauren (10/5): -
- Giuseppe- Joanna (7/5): - Very comfortable beds. Air conditioning worked well in the extreme heat. Good quality and amount of kitchen utensils etc. Great shower. No bedside lamp in the second bedroom. No coffee table by the couch. No blind to block out the western sun on the back door. This affected the temperature and glare in the room during the heatwave.
- Lena (9/5): -
- Bronwyn (9/5): -
- Kara (10/5): So close to town, we got a yummy dinner nearby and relaxed in a cozy place. The beds were extremely comfy and so was the - It was a cute comfy place with great facilities :)
- Anne (7/5): - Location was very convenient and the beds exceptionally comfortable. The house was warm and cozy. The only suggestions would be to have electric blankets on the beds, some tissues and some tea. Some coffee was supplied but not tea.
- Graeme (7/5): I sound a bit nit-picky I know but I quite liked the cottage as my choice in visiting this town. - After an unfortunate entry, the host was quick and responsive in correcting the issue. Friendly and professional.
The hot water system is slow to deliver shower level heated water but was plentiful in quantity. The back stair bannister is not secure and needs immediate repair. The heating in the cottage is excellent and at this time of year in Daylesford it needed to be.
Its a comfortable sweetly decorated cottage overall but a lttle overpriced at $300 a night in our view.
The location and access to the towns amenities is very good.
We were happy overall with our stay. The cottage has a for sale sign directly placed on the front fence. We had a few people come on to the property peering in through the open shutters during both days. They scurried off when we peered back at them and no harm done but it was a tad awkward for all.
- Jaskaran (9/5): -
- weibo (10/5): - great location. comfortable bed. very clean.
- Maddie (9/5): -
- Matt (9/5): Ideal Daylesford location and comfortable - Cute little cottage in a perfect location. Very well presented and comfortable. No shade on the deck, could be easily sorted with an umbrella
- Lauren (3/5): Safety hazards and almost impossible to contact hosts - Close to Main Street A peak summer day, pulled up to the cottage to an overflowing bin covered in flys by the gate.
Walked in and the cottage inside seemed lovely, until we noticed that 2 heated towel racks in bathroom that were unable to be turned off for duration of our stay, we had no notification / warning / signs that they were on or that they were heated towel racks (not normal ones) and my 5 year old knocked it by accident and was burnt. Owners had provided a mobile phone number if we needed anything during our stay, we messaged at 7pm on the night of our stay asking how to turn them off and mentioned about my son getting burnt, didn’t hear back, it took 5 attempts to contact and receive a response which didn’t even acknowledge the burn, just said they’d take our feedback on board for future guests. Very little care factor. I replied to their email expressing my disappointed in their response and also noting again it took 5 attempts to get a reply and surprise surprise got no reply. Disgusting.
As these heated towel racks were extremely hot for the duration of our stay it meant we couldn’t let our 2 young kids go into the bathroom for anything unattended - eg hand washing, brushing teeth, toilet etc. which was so draining and frustrating.
On top of that near the kitchen there was an extremely sharp broken floor board which caught my other sons sock as he walked over it, thank god it put a hole in his sock and not his foot - we ended up needing to leave a chair on top of it for the duration of our stay to ensure no one accidents walked over it and was injured. This was also mentioned in my feedback email to the host.
Honestly curious why give a phone number to contact during your stay if it’s not going to be responded to?
They claim Telstra had an outage which I find very hard to believe as my husband and I are both with Telstra and did not have any issues in contacting anyone, including our 5 attempts to contact them.
- Demelza (9/5): Great location, short walk to main street - Great location, short walk to main street
- Norris (9/5): - Excellent location and property very clean and tidy. Ran out of some provisions but the manager remedied that quickly.
- Andrew (10/5): Very comfortable, clean and well-equipped. - Warm, Netflix, cool decor, 2x king-sized beds, 1 minute walk from Main Street, contactless. All good.
- Susan (9/5): - The cottage was beautifully decorated
Spotlesslt clean.Right behind the main street
- Andrew (8/5): - Everything Nothing
- Michelle (8/5): Gorgeous stay with my Mum and sister we - Great location, gorgeous home,
Beautiful beds Needs wardrobes and needmilk for the coffee and a complimentary biscuit or chocolate would be nice. Outdoor was very wobbly..
- Emily (8/5): Homely cottage in the centre of town - Excellent location and beautiful cottage. Beds and living area were comfortable and felt homely! Shower wouldn’t drain during one of our showers. For the price of the accomodation, some milk and/or bread supplied would have been appreciated.
- Carolien (10/5): - Very stylish, clean and best bed ever: soft, luxurious feeling. Location also great: quiet street, close to main street.
- Nur Hidayu (10/5): Enjoyed our comfortable stay here as a family. Will definitely stay again if around the area. - Loved the convenient location and also the stylish interior decor. Nil
- Jennifer (8/5): Good - Fireplace Lounge room chairs uncomfortable
No lamps in second bedroom
- Robyn (9/5): We loved staying in this gorgeous house - It was very stylish and the location was perfect Tea and coffee were provided but there was no milk. There was a dirty glass in the cupboard and the step into the bathroom was difficult to navigate at night.
- lund (10/5): -
- Hannah (9/5): Great stay- would highly recommend! - Check-in process was easy and explained clearly.
- Kimberley (10/5): - Beautiful accommodation, perfect location could walk everywhere. Even though we asked if we could arrive at accommodation early we were told they would try and accommodate and didn't hear from them till 3pm for the access code.
- Eric Drummond (8/5): Modern Convenience Meets Classic Charm in the Heart of Daylesford - The location of this property makes it a wonderful choice for a stay in Daylesford, as it's in the heart of the town centre. The cottage itself was clean and comfortable, striking a good balance between contemporary and heritage design. The electronic door lock, controlled by a keypad, made check-in and check-out incredibly easy and convenient. Every member of our group commented on how comfortable the beds were. The door to the first bedroom no longer has a lock on it and does not fit the door frame perfectly. As a result, we had to place something behind it to hold it closed at night. A minor inconvenience, but does compromise privacy a little when travelling with friends. Some wooden floorboards throughout the cottage were very squeaky, making it difficult to use the bathroom at night without alerting everyone. We also had to walk to the property management office at Hotel Frangos to collect toilet paper, as the roll on arrival was close to finished and no extras were stored in the bathroom. This was likely a one-off oversight.
- Maria (9/5): Cosy and well presented. Very relaxing stay. - Location. So close to the main shopping street.
- Jeanette (10/5): Very comfortable stay! Highly recommend. - Location was excellent; beds were so comfortable; property was very clean; cottage had everything we needed; excellent communication which made the process of booking and check in easy.
- Geoffrey (9/5): -
- Anne (9/5): - Excellent communication and position. Only 3 wineglasses. Not enough bowls and one was chipped.
No fly screens.
One night was very warm and there was nothing except the doona available.
- Philip (9/5): Excellent stay in a great home - Great location. Great layout and fabulous beds. Gas log fire was a treat! Easy to use appliances and milk in fridge was a treat
- Jonathan (8/5): Terrific place for a weekend stay - Terrific place for a weekend stay. Location is great; literally a 2 min walk to the cafes and hotels on Vincent Street, yet still peaceful and relaxing. Comfortable accommodation with everything you need, spotlessly clean. Great communication from host pre and during stay.
- Stevens (10/5): - Location was great The only thing would be a blind/curtain over the glass back door
- BERNADETTE (8/5): We had a comfortable stay overall. Great location. - Great location for our concerts. Lovely cottage and very clean. We contacted the hosts several times for dishwashing tablets to no avail. The rubbish bin beside the cottage was overflowing with rubbish on the driveway. The pillows were less than comfortable. There was no soap container beside the basin or in the shower. There were no tissues.
- Terri (10/5): -
- Robyn (10/5): - Wonderful decor, warm and comfy beds in a great location
- Melanie (9/5): -
- Michaela (10/5): -
- Sasha (9/5): Would stay again in this cute, clean and comfortable cottage in central location - Very cute cottage. Fabulous central location, warm with great heating, comfy beds. Loved the heated towel racks. Nothing
- Emma (5/5): The beds were great, and the location was great. The heater/fireplace was beautiful and warmed well - The location was amazing and the beds were super comfortable. The property was dirty. There was dirty dishes still in the dishwasher when we arrived from previous guests. There were no dishwashing tablets. An empty box of washing powder was thrown onto the top of the washing machine. There was a greasy hand print on the bathroom wall and dried soap marks all over the bathroom vanity. There were crumbs on the dining room chairs and the bench had glass marks all over it, and had not been wiped down. Oh, and, the complimentary milk carton in the fridge was opened with a straw in it! The front door has cracks in it, so a constant breeze all night. The property manager said they would process a % refund due to the state of the property, however multiple attempts to reach out to them a week after we have checked out and there is no response. Very very poor.
- Drew (10/5): What a beautiful little cottage!! Great location, good size, comfortable bedding and a beautiful fireplace keeping you t - Location was awesome, loved the touch of the fire and lights on when we first walked in. Bedding was fantastic and very comfortable. Large plates to be able to eat takeaway dinner.
- Linda (9/5): Superb -
- Amir (9/5): It was a good one day nice and relaxing stay - Location, inside and outside area of the property Everything was alright
- Qian (10/5): Good place for a short trip - The location and room design is good
- Pauline (9/5): Superb -
- June (10/5): A wonderful cottage to enjoy. - The cottage is exceptional and it offers everything you need. The owners have decorated it beautifully and has excellent cooking facilities. The position is wonderful and in walking distance to the Main Street. I would love to visit again one day. The only thing there were no blinds on the doors in the living area and it made the cottage quite hot. But when I stayed the days were extremely hot.
- Sarah (9/5): Loved the house. So beautifully done . Fantastic spot. Comfy beds and bedding - Great location , didn’t realise the main strip of shops was right behind us. And we could walk. Creaky floor.
Blinds on the back door would have been nice. As the sun beams right onto you if on the couch in the evening.
- Irwin (8/5): Pleasant and relaxing - Location and very tidy Nothing
- Richard (7/5): Enjoyable one night stay - Certainly comfortable Lacked a few things we would think are must haves in this type of accommodation
- Michelle (8/5): Clean and comfy stay - Super close to the Main Street, 2 big comfy beds, everything we needed for a short stay in Daylesford.
- Candace (7/5): Good - Location fantastic Walked into ants on bench and crumbs still on the floor from previous visitors.
Tops of bed heads need to be dusted/cleaned also.
- Paula (8/5): Lovely cottage in a great part of town. Close to wombat hill and Main Street. East walk to cafes and dinner options. Eas - Great location. Well set up. Comfortable facilities. Laundry. Good amount of cooking equipment. Aircon. Squeaky floorboards. Broken door knob on second bedroom.
- Phyllis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Immaculate (10/5): Excellent place to stay - Location is beautiful, the house was very good and the interior of the house was beautiful. No supply of milk and coffee capsules on the second day
- Bronwyn (7/5): Good -
- Soke (6/5): Daylesford summer holidays - the beds and pillows are comfy. location is great, close to the main street yet the property is on a quiet street. no wardrobe and hangers in the bedrooms. no hooks to hang clothes on the bedroom door or bathroom doors.
- Adam (9/5): Superb -
- Allan (9/5): Beautiful cottage on quiet street. - Very comfortable. Nicely decorated. Would stay again. Miner but still should be looked at, latch on bedroom doors.
- Elisabeth (8/5): A special place to stay in Daylesford - Stylish decor. Beautifully comfortable bed. Quiet location. Well equipped kitchen. Easy access. Interesting history The washing machine wasn’t working and it was hard to contact the managers of the property on the unanswered phone numbers provided. The text messages left were not answered for more than 24 hours.
- Terry (8/5): Very good - Great cafes. No fresh air in bedroom as I couldn’t pen the window. Excellent apart from that.
- Kathryn (8/5): Very good - Lovely spot great cottage
- Emma (8/5): Excellent- highly recommend - Beautifully decorated and well equipped. Lovely feel. Very clean and comfy beds. Sunny deck. Handy location- v close to town. The washing machine was broken so we had to go to the launderette, which was a bit of a pain as we were relying on doing some washing but the partnering hotel gave us a round of free drinks to compensate.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adriane (8/5): great for a short break - The cottage was cute and comfortable and in a great location, and we felt really at home there. The bedrooms were a good size, it was surprisingly quiet when inside, and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils The outdoor table needs to be replaced as it was too wobbly to use, and some more information about the property would have been nice too. For example, we missed bin night even though we would have gladly taken it out, and we didn't know about the heated towel rails until one became an issue. A welcome flyer with basic info like that would have been useful.
- Phil (10/5): Delightful after a long day driving. - Breakfast not included. There was no complimentary tea or tea bags.
- Andrew (5/5): Not greatly impressed. - Very stylish. Nice furnishings. Dishwasher. Very limited cooking utensils and some nice essentials.
No chopping board, not even a sharp knife. No spare bin liner so to take rubbish out.
A few cheap consumables would have been nice. Coffee and sugar kindly supplied, but no tea bags.
No foil or glad wrap. Given owned by restauranteurs, I was thinking more attention to enable light cooking etc. Nothing crazing, just typical items. This was noticeable and took edge off stay.
- Rodney (9/5): Superb -
- Walker (9/5): A lovely short stay at Alexander Cottage that was very comfortable, warm and convenient. - Alexander Cottage is very comfortable, warm and well located. On a cold rainy weekend, we loved arriving to find the gas fire on. The kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was excellent. It has been thoughtfully furnished and designed with good lighting and accessories like pictures etc. I liked the large ceramic hare! The only slight negative was a very creaky floor but that’s also part of its charm. We would also like to have turned the gas fire down a bit but weren’t clear whether it had only one setting. I sent a message asking but received no reply. Very minor.
- Kim (10/5): Wonderful place for a short stay. - Gorgeous well appointed property. It was comfortable and in a great location. The dishwasher was useless.
- Himanshu (8/5): Very good - Nice setup and close to amenities Kitchen well equipped but couldnt find basic things like salt and pepper.
- Sally (10/5): Cozy cottage, close to town - Lovely warm and comfortable. Well furnished, comfy beds. Close to town and quiet.
Was a great motel alternative. Would happily stay again.
- Wenjin (9/5): Superb -
- Denise (9/5): A lovely ambience that made it feel easy to relax. - It’s position to the surrounding places if interest. A few small details in the kitchen that were missing
- Courtney (9/5): Superb -
- Dorothy (10/5): All in all it was a gorgeous place and the beds were really comfortable. - Great location. Very cozy. The lounges really aren’t set up comfortably it could do with 2 loungers not the 2 chairs and only one lounge. And we had to bring our own milk frother, as it’s not provided with the coffee machine, we don’t all drink long blacks! Lol
- Tamtastic (9/5): Great cottage, awesome location, cosy and comfy, super hosts. - We had some issues getting there on day of arrival, however, our hosts went above and beyond help us get to the property safely. We walked in at around 9pm to a well light and warm and cosy cottage. We had not eating and found some homemade soup, garlic bread and pizza waiting for us. Thank you much, it meant the world to us given the difficulties we had experienced on our way to you. Cottage so close to the main street and supermarket , no car needed. Everything you need was at your finger tips. Nothing
- Janine (10/5): Exceptional -
- C (9/5): Great place to stay in Daylesford that was reasonably priced - Location, presentation. Comfortable beds. Good heating. Good self contained facilities. No rubbish bags provided.
- Lindsay (10/5): Loved the location and how the house was set up with the heater and lights on to welcome you into a very comfortable sta - Loved the location and the style of the cottage. It was warm and welcoming with everything you would need for a great stay.
- Robyn (10/5): Perfect stay in Daylesford - Amazing property. So warm and exceptionally comfortable and clean. Great location, well equipped with all the kitchen and bathroom essentials. Loved that there was more than one towel per person and loads of toiletries to use. Every room was well thought out and so close to town. Nothing
- Susie (10/5): Very cosy and comfortable - The beds were so comfy. The cottage was decorated really well and we were so close to everything Dayelsfotd had to offer. Well worth the stay
- Myriam (9/5): Superb -
