• Jade (9/5): Good spot for a local getaway - I liked the accessibility of it and that there was lots of space for people to sleep and comfortable furniture. There was also lots of games, kitchen appliances, and other items available for use while staying. The hosts also made it clear regarding check out expectations which made it easy for us. I think if a hallway door could be added to keep young children/dogs in the lounge room area would be a good addition rather than them having access into the hallway/daybed. Otherwise all was really good :)

Would recommend. - Suited our needs We were not informed about the ongoing construction work which started at 6am outside the bedroom windows and did not allow access to the driveway for 3 days. Under the beds was not vacuumed, lots of dust and debris.

• Robert (10/5): A comfortable stay, close to many locations. - Enjoyed how easy it was to get to drive to the main town, and then onto other locations. Dishwasher and washing machine meant leaving with minimal dirty clothes. Great layout and heating worked well. There really wasn't anything to dislike.

• Malcolm (10/5): Great family accommodation in Victor Harbor - The Purple Door had the Wow factor from the moment we opened the front door. There is a large living / dining / kitchen area that looks brand new and was spotlessly clean. There are three good sized bedrooms, two with double beds and the third with 2 x bunk beds so it easily accommodates a large family or even two families. The kitchen is very well appointed and the living room is comfortable. The property is about 5 minutes drive from the centre of Victor Harbor and access was easy. I received a message the day before with the code for the key safe and a follow-up message from the owners to make sure that everything was OK. Nothing. We had a wonderful time.

Could have done with tea & sugar being supplied plus new soap plungers at both hand basins as they’re faulty. The filtered tap in the kitchen is loose & the hook for towel in the ensuite/laundry area needs to be replaced as it’s loose. The ceiling fan in the main bedroom (one with the ensuite/laundry area attached) has a remote which doesn’t appear to work.

• Skills (3/5): Never again - Was close to beach if you could drive Back door was wide open when we got there. Had to check for spiders as there wasn't a screen on the back door. Was going to have a bbq but it was unsuitable as very dirty hadn't been cleaned in ages!! Bird droppings on garden furniture also rusty. Cob webs in one of the bedrooms on windows, found hairs in my bed so didn't sleep in it. Never have I had to strip beds on leaving and the pillow and duvet was stained and yellow. Very disappointed as was my way to say thank you to my cousin and her family for having me stay with them in adelaide. Needs a good clean and things meading. Will definitely not book it again. • Jodie (8/5): A comfortable, convenient stay with heaps of space! - All the comforts of home while on holidays - perfect! The bed was comfortable and the kitchen is amazing... I'd love that bench at home! The outdoor area was lovely, but it was too cold for us to use it when we stayed. Very close to Victor and all the amenities. Not really a complaint, but we couldn't access the free wi-fi that was 'advertised. May have just been a glitch. We decided not to bother the property manager as it was a weekend and we didn't really need it anyway - just couldn't watch Netflix or anything like that, but we were on holidays so weren't that worried about TV anyway!

Will definitely book again next time :) It would be good to provide a clothes hook in bathrooms. There is no where to hang the clothes when having bath.

• Daniel (10/5): If you want space, room for the kids to play outside, conversations to be at the heart of the kitchen and everyone to be - The moment we stepped through the front door, we immediately felt relaxed, comfortable and happy. It made us feel like it was a home away from home. There wasn’t much to dislike about the property as a whole, except when we went to hang out clothes out to dry, the clothesline was broken.
• Jacqueline (7/5): Good - Thanks for the provided coffee and use of the bbq facility. The bunk beds are flimsy and mattresses are old. The outdoor area was not cleaned. Table and chairs full of bird poo, the dog bowls are filthy. The floors weren’t washed properly. The complimentary wifi also didn’t work.
• Adam (5/5): Problems with cleanliness and host - Very modern stylish property. Lovely large well equipped kitchen. Comfortable and good location 15 minutes walk from central Victor Harbour with parking available on the property site for free. There were also nice touches within the property including a very informative guest book and a coffee machine with pods. Multiple issues with cleanliness of the property: Outside table and chairs were covered in bird poo which we spent a long time cleaning before being able to use. Outside BBQ was filthy and covered in deep layers of grease to the point we were unable to use. We also went to shower in the second bathroom and found multiple large black hairs in the bath, around shower head and on wall of the bathroom. Informed the owner of the above. We were overall very disappointed with what we found a pretty unprofessional response. He insinuated he did not believe us regarding the BBQ although did kindly agree to a small refund as compensation to the inconvenience which was appreciated given we had purchased two days worth of food specifically to BBQ before arriving. He otherwise did not acknowledged the fact we had needed to spend an hour cleaning the outside area to use it in the same message regarding the BBQ. He furthermore completely ignored a separate message regarding the large amount of hairs found within the bath/ shower. We found this attitude very disappointing. The property clearly is a nice property but on this occasion due to some poor cleaning in and outside there were issues. Instead of being apologetic regarding this , he either insinuated he did not believe us or completely ignored us. Both of which we find inappropriate responses. Hopefully he can take this as feedback and improve his response with guests in the future as the property otherwise has lots of things going for it.

The fire pit was a great bonus. We will definitely book the house again for next year. One of the bedrooms could have done with some extra power points as the ones that were there were being used for the wifi & something else. Also it would have been great to have a security door on the laundry, living in the city makes me very security conscious.

• Michelle (8/5): It was a beautiful home lovingly decorated & maintained. - Loved the layout & how it was presented. Beds were comfy & the showers were excellent. When we arrived, there was a strudel type thing waiting for us, which was tasty & a lovely thought. We only have a couple of “notes”. A note on or near the large switch for the stove would have been helpful. Also the wood box for the fire pit was empty, so a check on that every now & then would also be good & maybe the back deck could be hosed down or a broom quickly run over the area would be nice (there was a number of cobwebs on the windows etc).
• Kim (9/5): Very relaxing few days away with friends - Location is excellent and it was wonderful to be treated to a delicious fruit bun for afternoon tea Unfortunately we were unable to reach mugs and glasses from the glassed door cupboard. Even the tallest of our group, 5ft 7in, couldn't reach so we had to resort to buying mugs and glasses. This is our second time staying here and even with having to purchase mugs etc we had a great stay.

Plenty of space for 2 families, comfortable beds, clean & decent bathrooms, kitchen well equipped for making meals, and a nice private garden and terrace for bbq and relaxing. Easy 5 minute drive to the shops, the beach and the sights of Victor Harbour. Just a few maintainence issues... the shower taps fell off, and turned the wrong way for hot and cold. The shape of the shower taps were also difficult for my elderly parents to use. Not enough dishwasher tabs provided for the whole stay. The terrace hadn't been properly swept by the cleaners and we found quite a few bits of broken glass on the floor. And the BBQ needed a good clean before we could use it. Otherwise tidy and well maintained.
