Therese (10/5): - On arriving early for check-in, we noted that we were only a minute or two walk into the main town centre. We were met by one of the hosts who upgraded us to a beautiful room as the one we had booked wasn't ready. The water views were 180 degrees due to the amazing spacious open style kitchen, dining, living area with and abundance of windows and light. Cleverly tucked away in the kitchen was a washing machine and a pull out ironing board at the end of the bench. Aside from this it was a full kitchen with dishwasher and coffee pod machine. There was also a bottle of 'gratis' port in with the coffee/tea facilities for those who wanted a nightcap looking at the stars before bed! (Our bed was super comfy and ensuite spotlessly clean as was the entire unit). One of our hosts, Joe, met us at our door with an umbrella when we let him know we wanted to walk into town for dinner and it was drizzling rain. There were several great options for dining out and many had no availability, they were so popular. We had a fantastic meal out at Sidra Bar and Bistro however, the owners were moving onto a new venture elsewhere so cannot recommend. There was nothing we could fault, other than we couldn't stay longer!

We were fortunate to be upgraded to a 3 bedroom apt as there were 2 of us. So spacious & ideal for entertaining guests🤭 Driveway is very uneven, car parking is quite tigh to exit.

A beautifully cosy “hotel” room, that felt really homely. Super clean and tidy and well equipped. Central location, short drive to cafes, restaurants and Griffith island. Jane went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Would highly recommend! A heater in the bathroom would have made that room more comfortable. It was very chilly.

Kitchenette has adequate appliances, utensils, crockery etc. Living and dinning area well furnished, adequate room and comfortable. Great location, a short and easy flat walk to the CBD and river/Wharf. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. We have stayed here about 12mths ago and the high standard was consistent across both visits. Nil

Loved the attention to detail, coffee machine & fresh milk! No privacy blinds on glass doors & interior downlight on all night! Only minor issues ( considering the free upgrade we received) however this didn’t diminish our wonderful time there!

Paul Haskins (10/5): A really lovely place to visit and would definitely recommend Douglas Riverside. - A stylish property in a beautiful location with views of the river. Port Fairy is a great little town, not to be missed. The host, Joe, was extremely friendly and helpful with advice on things to see and do in the area. As the property was not full at the time of our check-in, we were offered upgraded accommodation which was really lovely. Spacious, relaxing and very comfortable accommodation. We were given freshly baked bread, butter, preserves, milk and juice, and chocolates! Very comfortable bed, great shower and plenty of soft fluffy towels. We had a lovely stroll around Griffiths Island, which Joe had recommended. If you walk there at dusk to see the incoming Short-tailed Shearwater birds (known locally as Muttonbirds) returning to their nests in burrows (between September and April), take a torch for your return walk from the island. There was nothing to dislike about the property. There is a washing machine, but the addition of a tumble dryer would have been helpful.
Chantrell (8/5): Great location and good value for money - Amazing location! Right on the river but still a very close walk into town for restaurants, pubs etc. We stayed at one of the smaller 1 bedroom apartments right at the back of the property so no river view. It was cosy but good value for a short stopover, owner was friendly and helpful if we needed anything. Shower outlet was a little low, no problem for me but just be aware if you are taller you may need to crouch down 😂
