- Veronica (10/5): Lovely setting. Clean house with good facilities. Highly recommend. - Clean, quiet, good facilities Great property for what we needed
- Vicki (9/5): -
- Gavin (7/5): -
- Gilda (10/5): Beautiful relaxation - Such a beautiful property. Nothing
- Jan (9/5): - Great selection of breakfast foods. from bacon, eggs, spinach, butter, jams & bread to Coffee beans for the coffee machine, ample milk & orange juice. Excellent range of crockery, cutlery, glasses, coffee mugs, cookware.
Firewood & matches provided, which was much appreciated as it was cold & wet!
Bath robes for each guest to use was a bonus. Lovely large, fluffy bath towels provided.
Beds were comfortable. Just an excellent place to stay, highly recommended, perfect base for touring the beautiful Clare Valley and surrounds.
- Nigel (9/5): Very enjoyable and provided what we wanted. - Food left was excellent. Had everything we needed. Only thing was the garden needed attention. Dead plants in pots not good. Plus maybe a paved area to sit outside. Garden needed attention, but nothing to complain about, as all good.
- Mirca (10/5): Amazing views. Spacious rooms and a fully equipped kitchen - Setting quiet and tranquil and rooms spacious
Kitchen fully equipped No comment suited our needs
- Alison (8/5): -
- Maisie (10/5): Lovely and comfortable - This place is lovely ! My friend and I had an amazing time !
The kitchen was conveniently stocked with anything you’d need and the bathrooms as well.
The view of the sunset and sunrise is gorgeous and you’ll even see kangaroos or deer running around.
Happily will stay here again and recommend to friends and family.
Thank you :)
- Wendy (9/5): - Such a beautiful home and relaxing area
- Simon (8/5): -
- Willis (10/5): A great place to get the rural experience but still close to all facilities. - Nice property with a quiet location but not far from Clare. The house combines the old part with a modern extension with rural views from the lounge and kitchen. Facilities were of a high standard and the kitchen was well equipped. A very relaxing place to spend a few days. Although we appreciate that the Clare District is very bushfire conscious it is a shame that there is no facility for an outside fire out of fire ban restrictions - there is nothing nicer than sitting around an outside fire looking at the stars. Breakfast was included but we found it a little frugal and there were only continental "leftovers" for the second morning. Would be nice to have had some tomatoes, mushrooms, more butter and real fruit juice. Another handy addition would be a solid plate for the BBQ as only a grill plate is provided making it impossible to cook eggs outside.
- Frank (9/5): It was a wet windy winters stay. The house was warm and wonderful. Light and airy with everything thatyou could need , -
- Beth (9/5): -
- Janette (7/5): Location & dwelling were amazing, thoroughly enjoyed our stay! - Location & breakfast were fabulous although more spreads ie vegemite & peanut paste would have been appreciated. I also feel tomatoe sauce or chutney should have been available as a basic condiment. I wasn't happy that we couldn't have a firepit outside as the very first bookings.com picture looks like a firepit & this was the reason I booked this property. I also feel the property shouldn't be listed as luxury as the living areas furniture & soft furnishings were not and there was too many odds & sods in the kitchen & decor to list as luxury. That being said we did enjoy our stay!
- Carolyn (10/5): Tranquil and private, exceptionally comfortable, conveniently located 5 mins drive away from Clare. - A beautifully serene property surrounds this unique house blending old with new supremely. Extremely well insulated with heating options ensuring warmth and atmosphere. Shining with cleanliness and full of every provision you could need, even facial wipes!
- Sean (10/5): Cosy, comfy, memorable - All of the property, inside and out Felt the breakfast supplies were a little stingy
- Robyn (9/5): Our group of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our stay.amazing house in a wonderful setting - Everything! N/A
- Philipa (9/5): Relaxing stay, a beautiful place to spend a weekend away with friends. - Beautiful property, plenty of room for 3 couples or a family. Comfortable beds with all linen supplied, even some white robes. Beautiful large lounge dining space that looks out onto the neighbouring paddocks where we saw the Kangaroos visit each night and even a fox walked by while we were having breakfast.
- Helen (10/5): Thank you for sharing such a beautiful house. - This is a super house, large, well- fitted out, and with amazing insulation…warm inside even when very cold out. The views from the wonderful main room were tranquil and the silence sublime. We even saw the kangaroos. The property is very close to Clare itself ( we think 4 ks) but you could be a million miles away. I loved the two owl sculptures guarding our bedroom windows! More material for lighting fires please.
- Stella (10/5): Cosy winter retreat ! - Everything was great, the house was spotless and it was very nice to have breakfast supplied. Would book again! Nothing
- Allen (10/5): Hidden gem - We were all gobsmacked with the property, the surroundings, the area. We would recommend this property easily to anyone who would like a great bush setting, but only 5 minutes onto Clare. WOW
- Ben (10/5): A very pleasant stay in a gorgeous property in a great location. - great
- Branson (10/5): Exceptional - There was a generous amount for us. I would have preferred wholemeal/multi grain bread and more butter.
- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional - Great breakfasts and kitchen utensils. Bathrooms of a high standard.
- Carol (10/5): A beautiful location and wonderfully presented property. - Everything Nothing
- Kylee (10/5): Beautiful family getaway - It was a beautiful setting, super clean house with loads of supplies to make the stay comfortable.
- Leo (8/5): We enjoyed our stay immensley and would recommend it to all our friends - The location was 5 minute drive from the main street and was on a large allotment and that gave us a feeling of being in the bush. The breakfast provisions were generous and much appreciated. Bedrooms and bathrooms were well appointed Kitchen table with the trestles was a bit tight for 4 people. Coffee machine needed a bit of maintenance to make it work. Would be nice if we had a key for window in laundry to allow for fresh air to come through. Under floor heating worked in main ensuite but not the other bathroom. We viewed these things as a minor problem and did not detract from our overall experience.
- Geoff (8/5): Very good -
- Gai (9/5): Superb - Wonderful location and amazing house. Lovely amenities and well stocked fridge and pantry. Great breakfast provisions

- Naomi (10/5): Would recommend- tranquil and relaxing. - The host Sue was vey thoughtful in providing everything we needed. Wonderful place to stay surrounded by bushland, sitting outside listening to the sounds of birds and with visits from kangaroos in the evening. Interesting merging of old and new sections of spacious house. Absolutely enjoyed our stay here. 😊
- Robin (8/5): Very good - The privacy, the setup , and the essential sense of comfort. No television!
- Rodney (10/5): Quiet, private, relaxing, well appointed with everything you might need. - Very quiet.
Very private
Outside on the outdoor area taking in the evening was superb.
Well appointed with everything you needed.
Only 6 minutes to town.
- Julie (9/5): Overall, it was a most enjoyable stay in a very well equipped, comfortable and roomy place. - Comfort and amenities were excellent. Provisions provided for breakfast were very good. The place was very roomy indeed, with lots of space where the guests could just stretch out and relax. The only thing that I did not really like was the absence of a TV. Then again, this might actually appeal to some people.
- Denyse (9/5): Would recommend. Tranquil - More butter as there was plenty of bread and plenty for 2 people to have cooked breakfast each morning
Great there was no TV…could have spent whole day there relaxing and not gone anywhere.
Great choice of cooking utensils, crockery etc No shade over pergola area as west facing —— sun
- Gregg (9/5): Superb - Layout and spaciousness No aircon in bedrooms
- Felicity (10/5): Lovely quiet well stocked spacious home. - Quiet location. Great breakfast provisions.
- Rick (9/5): Superb -
- Larry (9/5): Superb -
- Tania (7/5): Was nice off grid peaceful and relaxing stay. The property is beautiful and well equipped. Provisions were bountiful and - The property was located 8 minutes from the main township which was great. Property had heating and lots of linen/towels etc. Lovely furniture and decorations. Peace and quiet was nice. Fireplace was beautiful. No undercover carport. Tree at corner of kitchen where we parked has a bee hive in it. As located in the bush-lands lots of worms (required us to sweep majority of dwelling each morning) spiders and even a scorpion made their way into the house. Bat noises and scratching each night above main bedroom wardrobe on the crawl space). Pest control has been conducted day of our arrival so that may have sparked the bug outbreak? No television available, but board game and books provided.
- Rita (10/5): Exceptional - Modern, spacious property in beautiful country setting. Well appointed. Close to wineries and restaurants.
- Karen (8/5): Very good - Peaceful location Millipedes all over the house.
- Clare (10/5): We appreciated the beautiful homely environment, exceptionally clean set in native bush land - Breakfast-very yummy!
House- great, very comfortable, beautiful environment outside Nothing really
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danielle (8/5): Very good -
- Sharon (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Beautiful presentation and enjoyable to visit - Beautiful property, very well presented throughout, nothing missing.
Wood fire was warm and efficient.
Kitchen fantastic and had everything for a holiday or to live.
A delight to stay. Nothing
- Feegrade (8/5): A really lovely Bushland retreat with great access to walking trails, thoughtfully presented. However, important to take - Loved the privacy and cleanliness. Thoughtful provisions were left in place. There are a couple of misleading pictures that allude to the availability of a fire pit outdoors. We were also told council prevents outdoor fires, which is incorrect. There are designated fire ban seasons. It is fine if the property wishes to exclude the use of outdoor fires but should declare that on the website or property description as the photos clearly indicate an outdoor fire space as much as they tried to defend that the pictures don’t. one more disappointment was the lack of dry firewood provisions – particularly kindling and fire starters for the internal fireplace. as much as they tried to defend that the pictures don’t.
- Erin (10/5): perfect weekend getaway spot! - location was absolutely beautiful!! it was so nice to get away from the busy city life and shut off from reality for the weekend!
- Sasha (9/5): Beautiful house with lovely scenery of the surrounding bushland!! Delicious breakfast provided and immaculate facilities -
- Jeanne (10/5): This was a FABULOUS stay. Would go back any time!🎈🎈🎈 - Spacious with all mod cons. Heated floors in the two bathrooms already programmed for mornings and evenings! Great wood fire that heated very efficiently and extra heaters for bedrooms. A wonderful kitchen area with a generously stocked pantry and great breakfast supplies. A short drive to Clare and/or numerous wineries as well as beautiful countryside. A super cozy place in beautiful Australian bushland with kangaroos seen in early evening. Absolutely nothing!!! No TV, which lended itself to great Scrabble games.
- Jamie (10/5): lovely accommodation- well appointed on the outskirts of Clare - very clean - very comfortable - perfect for our family getaway nothing I didn’t like
- Linda (10/5): Great Place ! - We enjoyed everything about staying at Benny's Retreat. There were 6 of us and it was perfect.Great location and the breakfast supplied was a great extra touch. Nothing

- Mark (10/5): Amazingly Beautiful. - This place is absolutely amazing and the setting is beautiful. Great house and facilities are modern and clean.
There is no TV, which my co-workers freaked out about, but when you are staying out in the beautiful countryside like this, no TV is a bonus.'
