Guest Reviews
- Louise (9/5): - The outdoor shower, how close to the beach
- Ayush (10/5): -
- Eva (9/5): Wonderful stay, great location - the best value for money in Binalong Bay - We absolutely loved the eco hut. It has absolutely everything you could need to stay there and cook for a few days. Great bbq. Really lovely kitchen pieces too; le cresuet stove top kettle and lovely mugs. We loved that there was wallabies and rabbits in the garden every evening. We loved that it was just a 5 minute walk to the beach and the restaurant ‘The Hub’ which we really recommend. It has great pizza, beer and ice cream and lovely Tasmanian wine. The owners had also left beach towels which was so helpful. The outdoor shower is superb and so hot, loved it. Honestly there is nothing for us to complain about other than the fact that it is v v dark at night around the property. There is no outdoor lights or solar lights so walking up the driveway and heading to the bathroom at night was a bit scary.
- Carolyn (9/5): Great little place in a beautiful location. - Unique, relaxed, simple The outdoor shower was brilliant
- Rachel (10/5): Serene and delightful, perfect spot for bay of fires visit. - It's a beautifully designed space. Felt really peaceful and warm and we were surrounded by beautiful nature! Knives in kitchen were hard to work with and no shampoo and conditioner and I wasn't prepared!! But didn't matter. The soap was lovely and smelled great.
- Annette (9/5): Close to a camping experience but all the comforts of a home. Fantastic location. - Secluded spot surrounded by bush. Great location with quick access to Binalong Beach.
Plenty of room inside the accommodation. All the necessary equipment needed to self cater.
Off grid set up allows for plenty of power and rainwater makes for a great shower. Had to be really careful moving up and down the stairs with no hand rails, rained during our stay making it more susceptible to slipping on front deck.
- mark (10/5): Great location suited the purpose built tiny house. - Location & privacy Nothing
- Kimon (10/5): Very comfortable and enjoyed the wildlife visitors - Peace and quiet Nothing
- lloyd (10/5): -
- Deborah (5/5): Value for money if that is what you are looking for - great for backpackers who want more comfort - Its a great place if you want to not stay in a tent and want to do a lot of walking around Bay of Fires. Very clean and outside toilet immaculate The two chairs provided were uncomfortable for reading or relaxing. It was cold. It was difficult to navigate at night - up and down stairs then outside to toilet with wash sink in house not near toilet - not to be recommended for mature traveller.
- Jenny (8/5): We enjoyed the stay at Binalong Bay - Enjoyed the piece and quiet location
- Olivia (10/5): Bay of Fires Eco Hut was warm and cosy. Everything you need for a quiet off grid experience. -
Super recomendado.

- Willem (9/5): Outdoor shower with wallabies! - Imagine taking an outdoor shower while wallabies stare at you. This is what happened during our stay! This eco hut is away from the main road and around 6pm, wallabies come feed on the grassland around the hut. We also spotted many kookaburras and sleeping with the sound of the ocean was great! We liked the outdoor shower a lot! Bean bags to chill, kitchen was decently stocked so we could cook our own meals. 15 min walk to Skeleton coast in Binalong. There was no WiFi, but decent reception. Also, luckily for us it didn’t get that hot but without AC nor a fan, I can imagine this place gets very hot in the summer. Price is a bit high.
- Hurst (10/5): It was a great visit , memorable I will be returning hopefully many times . I have stumbled upon a gem . - It was a great place to holiday so peaceful and clean and a wonderful private location .
- Victoria (4/5): nothing but misfortune. Caught hosts flu developed into pneumonia spent 13 days in Hobart Hospital - no breakfast provided AND NONE EXPECTED DANGEROUS SMALL STAIRS UP AND DOWN and up again into the bedroom section with no railings. overhead Light that plunged you into darkness at the top of the stairs. split level main area separating the kitchen from the dining table so you had to carry your food down. outdoor dunny
- Veronika (10/5): -
- Kim (10/5): Fabulous - Great location enjoyed the stay
- Jakeb (6/5): - Seclusion and privacy! Fridge does not work. Turns on for 5 seconds then short circuit's. Could not keep food cold unfortunately.
- Jodi (7/5): - Privacy and a unique experience.
Board games, milk, tea/coffee etc was an added bonus. Shower and toilet outside was inventive but freezing in the cooler weather.
- Matisse (9/5): - Location, serenity, peacefulness & functionality. Had absolutely everything we needed.
- jess (10/5): - Thoughtful design and well insulated. Short walk to beach. Kitchen well stocked with staples if you're bringing supplies for cooking. Nothing!
- Lynda (9/5): Somewhere unique and memorable! - Brilliant building design with every need anticipated. The wood fire was fantastic and nostalgic. Close to great cafes and restaurants. Beautiful location to stay in this part of Tassie. Wild cold winds made the outdoor shower experience interesting ( but still fun!)
- Miriam (10/5): Lovely space - We stayed for one night and it was lovely and cosy and the outdoor shower was really hot. Would stay again
- Debra (9/5): - The position. Comfortable bed. Bush setting. Plunger coffee. We'll appointed. Generous with the basics in milk coffee tea. Good quality hand soap and shower products Lamps needed batteries.
- Cameron (10/5): Was great - Big fan of this place, was super chill and relaxing.
- Sharon (8/5): Eco hut - Position/location, eco aspect, woodfire, birdlife. Felt a little exposed, but outdoor shower quite refreshing!
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Senem (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maryanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bryan (10/5): Beautiful place - wallabies and birds! - Comfort and bush surroundings Outdoor shower and gravel path to outside toilet.
- Peter (9/5): Superb - Lovely cottage which was very comfortable and warm. In good weather it wouldn't be a problem but outside toilet on a wet night.
- Virginia (8/5): Very good -
- Tom (8/5): Very good -
- Natalie (9/5): Superb - Really loved the space - surrounded by nature but not totally isolated, walking distance from stunning beach and delicious pizza restaurant. 2 huge spiders made for a sleepless night! If not for that it would have been a perfect stay, and I wasn't bothered by any other insects despite having the sliding doors open all day.
- Philippe (9/5): Superb - The hut's location on the forest's edge, the ecological setting, the quiet, the terrace barbecue, the wallabies strolling on the plot, the birds, the surrounding trees, the rabbits—a real animal show! The cherry on the cake: the surrounding darkness allowed me to photograph the starry sky. Nothing !
- Effie (9/5): Amazing location surrounded by private bush - Amazing location - close to the main road but still feels very private surrounded by beautiful trees and bush. Simple but effective cabin design, very comfortable with everything we needed. The plywood floors can be quite slippery in socks - take care near the step edges. Flyscreen on the front doors would help keep the mosquitoes out.
- Ansume (7/5): Good - You wouldnt know you're that close to the road if you looked around. It was a nice quiet location and sitting on the porch was lovely. The space for the bed was very limited, so we were scooting around, hitting our shins every time we needed to get in or get up. Ultimately, it came down to the poor sleep we had. For the number of windows/glass doors in the cabin, there were not enough blinds considering how open the space is where you sleep. We were unlucky enough to wake up with the moon shining right in our faces. Add the amount of mosquitoes in the cabin (which I know can't be helped when you have floor to ceiling doors that open), it just made for a lot of disturbed sleep. If you're a heavy sleeper, none if this will bother you.
- Rodney (8/5): Off grid experience in a cute cottage. Thought the outdoor shower would be uncomfortably cold but not so. - Such a private, quiet location.
- Jeanette (9/5): Great spot! - Great spot. Outside shower was great!!!
No issue with charging our stuff etc. lots of power! Outside toilet
- Mark (7/5): Interesting experience - I really enjoyed the place, but my enjoyment was reduced because I was travelling with my elderly mother, and the small number of stairs to and from the mezzanine level and the uphill to the outdoor toilet were very tough for her. The electricity also kept going out, although to the manager’s credit, she sent someone to have a look at the problem as soon as I reported it.
I liked there was a good BBQ, and the kitchen was well stocked with implements. Place was nice and clean, nice bushland setting. See above. Also, I’m not sure what the two futons were meant to be. There was a padded bench with storage underneath, and a single mattress which could lie on the floor - not sure if either of those were meant to be a futon.
- Samardzic (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diksha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maureen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fiona (9/5): Loved the experience. Glamping at its best. - Quite

- Chuck (10/5): A Perfect Stay - Great location, close to beach, roomy, clean, pot belly kept us warm, outside shower was great with plenty of hot water. Do not be put off by having an outdoor shower. Quite & secluded with kangaroos, rabbits and lots of birds. Definitely would recommend a stay here.
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb - Close to this most beautiful beach
It was very private I liked the Eco hut there was plenty of room and it was very practical for a beach house and a bit more than basic.
We had the most wonderful time and to go with it lovely days of sun and surf
- Jennifer (10/5): The Eco Lodge added wonderful memories to our Tasmanian adventure. - the location was fantastic, right by the beach. we also enjoyed the kangaroos that came by for dinner, and the outdoor shower! i wish there was a hair dryer.
- Ally (9/5): Superb -

- Stephen (9/5): Cant wait to stay again in this stunning location - Private setting very comfortable great firebox
Lovely outdoor shower
Lots of birdlife
Only minutes to the beach
- Dean (10/5): Beach and bush perfection - Gorgeous of grid house, just perfect for couples. Loved the design and general vibe of the house. Don't be put off by the "of grid" status, it's been well thought out, everything works as though it was on mains power and the wood heater is super efficient. The bed was very comfortable and there was quality linen. Kitchen is simple, but well appointed, everything you would need to be independent. Even though the house was within walking distance of the beach (one of the greatest beaches in the state) and the restaurant, it felt truly secluded. Outdoor bathroom was fun and the water was lovely and hot (lots of pressure too), and just in case you are wondering, there is a proper flush toilet 😁 Nothing, wouldn't change a thing.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Jt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lynda (9/5): Great 1 night stay on our travels -
- Ai (8/5): Very good -
- John (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (10/5): Peaceful and beautiful - It was refreshing and an escape from the busy every day life we live. I wasn’t there long enough
- Myrtle (10/5): Exceptional - It was cute had a lot of character to it, and very close to the beach.
- Kirilp (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joanne (7/5): Loved the serenity - It could be cold in winter with the out door shower but I enjoyed the novelty of it.
- Lucinda (10/5): a great getaway - off grid
- Catania (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Something different for a change, at a fabulous location. No screen time, which means we can fully enjoy what nature has to offer. Beware of mozzies at dusk, especially if your skin is really sensitive to the bites. But no complaints here, as it's part of the lifestyle.
- Alison (10/5): Beautiful setting and quiet accommodation in Binalong Bay - Very private and well-equipped accommodation in a lovely bush setting that is a stroll to Binalong Bay beach. Really loved the quietness and being able to open all the doors for indoor/outdoor living. Nothing! Just need to know that the bathroom is outside and be ok with that.
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- M.p.s.p (7/5): Surrounded by nature - Totally surrounded by nature, very quiet setting, short (5min) walk to beach, cafe etc. Off grid was very easy, enjoyed seeing the wildlife of evening/morning and so many birds during day. Furniture uncomfortable especially after doing a few days of hikes- beanbags could do with more beans or a comfy couch/chair would be nice to relax sore/tired muscles.
Shower curtain would benefit from eyelets to secure bottom sides to walls to stop breezes from blowing it open or sticking it to skin when showering.
Mats need non-slip strips under them as they move very easily when stepped on, feeling a little unsafe.
Indoor steps feel a little unsteady.
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ming (9/5): Superb -
- Sabine (9/5): Superb - Eco friendly
- John (9/5): tip top - Basic but inviting. terrific to be disconnected a little and enjoy the peace and quiet whist still being in a great location. nothing really. staff were very good to call as soon as I booked so I understood the “parameters” of the eco hut. and all in all we were very comfortable.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Evelyn (10/5): What a gem! - This was our favourite accommodation on our two week Tassie road trip. Such a well designed cabin, well equipped, beautiful outlook and great location. Really enjoyed the outdoor shower and toilet. Loved that the cabin was cosy yet provided separate living spaces and was easy to heat. Our feet were warm for the first time in two weeks ! A really relaxing and enjoyable stay, highly recommend. N/A
- Stephen (4/5): Disappointing - It was very well insulated. The furniture was sparse and uncomfortable. The "bathroom" was an outdoor shower and laundry basin with no light. The rugs slipped on the plywood floor and the deck and stairs had no handrails. It was off grid but was also in the midst of suburban Binalong Bay. Some people will like the quirkiness but it seemed very expensive for what it was - we paid the same or less money during our Tasmanian trip for much superior accommodation.
