Guest Reviews
- Jamie (10/5): - My mates and I had the best time. Located walking distance from the gutter bar and the beaches made for an excellent trip. Couldnt fault our stay. The front outdoor area was sensational for evening beverages. We will be back for sure. N/A couldnt fault it
- Shelley (10/5): Excellent property with everything you need - The back room was amazing, the bath was huge
- Melissa (4/5): Disappointing - Location to the Gutter Bar and the beach was perfect. Unfortunately there were a few things that needed to be changed/fixed.
The shower screen needs to come further down the space after four people have showered the bathroom floor was very wet.
Fly screens need to be fixed lots of holes in them letting bugs in. A few other windows could have fly screens on them.
Beds were uncomfortable.
- Ian (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our week there with family for a get away. Will return again - Tranquil setting, very quiet and private which suited our purposes perfectly. Several local beaches to choose from.
- Gary (9/5): We could live there, it’s freaking fantastic 😁 - Location, the property has a fantastic beach/island/rustic feel, very well stocked and appointed kitchen, great outdoor entertaining area, parking for 3 cars, two secluded private bedrooms, walking distance to the Gutter Bar and protected beach for fishing, swimming and glorious sunsets. Go to the oyster shack for fresh seafood, Wifi, Netflix etc… modern bathrooms, access to fishing rods, beach chairs, kayak etc..this place ticks a lot of boxes. Bbq has seen better days, definitely could do with an upgrade. Got the job done though.
Tank water has an odour, personally I wouldn’t drink it just to be safe, but good pressure and nice and hot. We took 15L water for 5 people for 5 days. 👍
- Michael (10/5): Family dream holiday - will be back for sure! - Beautiful holiday home, the photos don't do it justice. A touch of luxury in an island paradise. Very close proximity to the Gutter Bar and easily accessible by 4WD from the ferry (just make sure you check the tide times to ensure easy passage). The home has solar power and batteries which allows for all the modern comforts. So spacious with lots of bedding options and 2 bathrooms. Kitchen is fully equipped to allow for catering of large groups including a large gas oven-top and fridge/freezer big enough for a long stay. The beds are spread out across 3 separate buildings, giving adequate privacy. The outdoor dining area and BBQ is perfect for relaxing after a long day of adventuring around the island. There is Starlink internet connection so the kids could watch a movie at night before bed and we could connect with friends and family to share photos of our holiday. The bore water has a strong sulphur smell that takes a bit of getting used to but it is hard to complain about being able a hot shower after a long day.
- Liam (10/5): Excellent place to stay, great value for money. - Great property, nice and close to the beach. Excellent entertaining area with bbq and fireplace. Liked everything.
- Kylie (8/5): Relaxing but concerning due to not being able to contact anyone. - The house was really lovely, obviously an older building but has been renovated well. the area was quiet We were unable to get in contact with anyone, called twice and left a message but never heard from anyone the whole time we were there. The house was unlooked when we arrived so we were never able to lock up when we went out or were asleep.
- Breeanna (5/5): We love Moreton island but I don’t think we would stay at this property again. - Beautiful location but the place needs some work. The bathroom stinks of rotten eggs.
The water is brown and smelly we didn’t even want to wash our hands with the water let alone our bodies.
It was just lucky we had over 60 litres of water with us.
The beds inside the house were really uncomfortable along with the pillows.
When we booked our stay we weren’t aware that 2 of the bedrooms were not apart of the actual house which was a great downfall due to having small children along with one of the bunk beds not being functional due to the top railing being broken. We paid a chunk of money to stay at a retreat that didn’t really feel all that much of a re treat.
I think this place could do with an upgrade and it could be a really beautiful house on a really beautiful island.
- Paul (9/5): Perfect, nostalgic holiday, that took me back to island life (pre-development, e.g. Straddie). - Location Booking.com - thinking Flinders Beach is on Moreton Is. 🤪
