Guest Reviews
- Justine (10/5): -
- Emily (10/5): Perfect. - Property is so quiet and cosy! Nothing, loved everything.
- Dave (10/5): - Beautiful, cosy cottage. Only a short drive to Daylesford/Hepburn Springs. Perfect for a couple's weekend getaway. Location is very picturesque and peaceful. Enjoyed walking through the gardens and paying the animals a visit!
Room also has excellent Wi-Fi, which works well for streaming and device connectivity. Nothing to report.
- Todd (10/5): - The cottage was so clean, so close to the main town yet so private. It was so peaceful sitting on the back deck taking in the views and the beautiful animals on the property. We felt so cosy lighting the fire and waking up to see a little pony! Was just the country escape we were after. We will definitely be back! The only thing we felt could be improved/updated was the TV. If it was upgraded to a Smart TV or a Chrome cast we would've loved to watch some Netflix etc. We really loved lighting the fire and having a wine on the couch, it would've been a great addition if we had the flexibility of a smart TV to watch some more recent films.
- Riccardo (10/5): The perfect location and site for a relaxing stay to detoxify from stressful life. - We spent three amazing days at this fantastic cottage in Daylesford and couldn’t be happier with our experience. Nestled in a beautiful and peaceful forest setting, yet only a few minutes drive from the centre of Daylesford, the location is truly ideal.
The quiet and warm atmosphere of the cottage was unlike anything we’ve experienced before—it felt incredibly welcoming and calming from the moment we arrived. Everything was spotlessly clean and clearly very well cared for, a reflection of how much attention and love the owners put into this special place.
Although we only stayed a few days, we’re already looking forward to coming back as soon as possible. The beauty and serenity of this location left a lasting impression. Nothing
- Doug (9/5): - Lovely location, warm and inviting cabin Nothing
- Anna (10/5): Cottage is extremely well kept and clean. Would definitely recommend staying here. - Beautiful cottage with all the required amenities. Absolutely loved the fireplace as nights were cold!
- Basanta (10/5): Thanks to Penni and Jo for having us. We enjoyed our stay - Nice and cosy vibe, well maintained.
We will definitely book again
- Siddharth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Kim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (9/5): We will return. - Seclusion, wood fire, cute ambience with idiosyncratic construction, an unobtrusive professional host. Nothing to report.
- Joshua (10/5): Loved the peace and quiet atmosphere.very tranquil - Very peaceful, tranquil and relaxing. The cottage is super clean the property is very well maintained. The hosts live separately on the property and not once did they try to intrude on our space. The cottage is very well managed with total privacy of your own.
This was a very relaxing couple days for us. And our little puppy totally enjoyed the surroundings of nature. Loved the wood heater for the cold night.
10 out of 10 for this property. This is only being very very picky. The only thing I would have liked is the couch to be a little bigger but was fine and comfortable.
- Debbie (10/5): Highly recommend staying at Gumnut Cottage, host was responsive and it was an excellent plsce to stay. - The Cottage was located in a delightful garden setting on a rural property fitted with beautiful log fire, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable loft bedroom, great shower. Close proximity to Daylesford and Hepburn Springs.
- Carla (10/5): Exceptional - Penni was amazing host - we really enjoyed our stay! Super clean and fabulous location. Super quiet!
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alisha (10/5): Relaxing country getaway - Such a beautiful relaxing stay! We loved sitting out on the patio and walking around the property with our dogs. And the fireplace at night! Only a 10min drive out of Daylesford which was perfect to be out of the busy town centre on a long weekend. The only thing that could have made it better would be to have a small fence on the open side of the patio so we could not think about our dogs while we were enjoying a wine in the afternoon sun. But that’s the only suggestion I could make. The place was great!
- Melanie (10/5): I can't wait to come back - It was warm and welcoming from the moment I walked inside. Loved sitting on the little table and chairs in the open space under the trees.
- Rebecca (10/5): Super relaxing and quiet, better than the photos, highly recommend. - Quiet and on a beautiful property with land to explore. Super clean and comfy I'm pregnant so the bed upstairs and toilet downstairs, but I managed fine, the stairs were easy.
- Pamela (9/5): Excellent overall. - The old world charm of the cottage and the very quiet location. Needs hooks in the bathroom.
- Tayla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cameron (10/5): Exceptional - Area,layout,hospitality,communication 10/10 Nothing
- Sharon (9/5): Superb - Perfect size beautiful surroundings and lovely host
- Eden (10/5): Best accommodation in Daylesford - The location of the cabin was amazing and it was very clean and tidy Not a lot to do in daylesford with a dog
- Keith (7/5): We enjoyed our time in Daylesford and whilst the cottage was comfortable did feel that the location was misrepresented i - Charming rustic property and dog friendly. Bathroom downstairs bedroom upstairs with stairs which were steep and slippery in bare feet.
Advertised as being in Daylesford but in fact was located in Wheatsheaf which is 10-12k out of Daylesford. Our dogs were allowed which was wonderful but there was no enclosed area for dogs and the doors to the cottage had to remain closed as there was no fly screen door which would have allowed a cool breeze but prevented the dogs from going outside.
- Sally (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location. Very quiet and cosy. Most comfortable bed. Would re visit.
- Andrea (10/5): A perfect escape into nature. Cosy, clean and comfortable. - A beautiful property and gorgeous cottage. The kitchen was well equipped and the decking was a perfect place to view the trees and birds. Very relaxing.
- Bec (9/5): Superb -
- Lincoln (8/5): A wonderful place in the country side amongst the wilderness. An oasis that I would seriously consider staying again at - A cute cottage fitted out with modern ammenities.
I enjoyed the serenity… The only thing I recall, was the front door key/lock being a little fidgety.
- Kenny (10/5): Perfect cottage for a relaxing getaway - Beautiful rustic cottage with everything you need for a nice relaxing getaway. You instantly feel relaxed among the beautiful landscapes, trees, and birds.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lauren (8/5): Lovely little cottage - Quiet and private location. Loft bed style cottage. Bathroom below.
- Mark (9/5): Relaxing and fun - The tranquility Nothing.
- Sanders (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (10/5): Character Filled Cottage Surrounded by Nature - Wonderful, character filled property with a well equiped kitchen. Beautiful grounds surrounding the property with only the sounds of the birds.
- Brittany (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were so lovely they left us some chocolates and a little note to say congratulations on our engagement! Also the shower is incredible.
- Rachael (10/5): A quiet, cosy stay, perfect for a couple and their doggo! - Loved how quiet, serene and comfortable it felt. We loved seeing the wildlife, and our dog enjoyed it too!
- Marcus (8/5): Excellent accomodation - highly recommend - Very Peaceful. Loved waking up to see kangaroos feeding and meeting the hosts pony and two goats. The hosts also left a beautiful gift gesture that has a nice surprise Overall fantastic accommodation. Our suggestion would be to provide a dish rack and inform prospective guests that the property is on a dirt road
- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Col (10/5): Very peaceful surroundings and loved the location - The facilities that were provided to use for breakfast were fine, kettle and toaster is really all that we used. N/A
- Tarnia (9/5): Wonderful relaxing cottage for a romantic weekend away! - It was a gorgeous cottage, so incredibly cute.
When we entered, it was quite warm! The heaters were on. We really liked how it was a short drive to Daylesford.
We enjoyed seeing Molly the Pony, Trixie & Ellie the goats. And walking around the lush green moss.
We didn't hear from the host or people in the cabin behind us. It was very quiet!
You can hear Kookaburras in the morning. It was a relaxing morning alarm. I didn't like was how small the couch was. But even then, it's not really a dislike! It was still ok!
And that only one tea towel was provided for dishes.
Unless I wasn't looking in the right spot.
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phil (9/5): Brilliant location, beautifully cosy accommodation and we would have loved to stay longer. - We loved everything about this property. The location was brilliant, it was warm, cozy and quirky. Nothing we could fault
- Yusuf (9/5): Superb - The wood heater is a big plus. The ability to wander around the property and see Molly, the pony, and the goats was cool. The cottage aesthetic helped the overall feel and appeal. Penni respected our privacy and kept a low profile. She was really lovely to speak to when we asked to have a chat. That we couldn't stay longer.
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (8/5): Lovely cottage and fireplace. Close to Daylesford and surrounds - Loved the little cottage. Extremely clean with everything you could want. Great fireplace and heating. My only issue was the sofa was uncomfortable. Minor gripe I know but we planned a lazy couple of days watching Netflix in front of fire. (For clarity I bought my own Chromecast)
- Wendy (9/5): Superb - Quite, clean and cosy Mouse in the house
- Janine (9/5): We had a lovely weekend in the Daylesford region, based at Gumnut cottage - Loved the character and the setting No complaints
- Robert (8/5): Excellent stay and we want to return - Everything was to our liking and the cottage was cute and cleanliness was excellent Nothing
- Luke (9/5): Superb -
- Stephanie (10/5): Lovely weekend at gumnut cottage - Beautiful property with a lovely taste of the country. Extremely clean and comfortable. We would absolutely visit again.
- Oc (7/5): nice cottage, reasonable facilities and relaxing stay. - The property was clean and the facilities were good, the size of the cottage was good and it was nice to have a good sized kitchen, generally well equipped. It was very quite. the property was very close to the main house and lacked privacy. The patio was nice to sit on but it was exposed to the windows of the main house giving a feeling of lack of privacy. The water pressure in the shower was not good. Perhaps some roof over the car park would also be good. It would be nice to have a fire pit to sit out in the evening and enjoy the outdoors.
- Angela (8/5): Perfect getaway - The log cabin set amongst bushland is an excellent way to unwind from a stress city life.
Bed extremely comfortable, the only negative is to maybe supply some basics in the kitchen like cooking spray or oil for cooking Nothing
- Tony (10/5): A beautiful self-catering property, slightly away from the peak period holiday bustle of Daylesford - The location was quiet, convenient to town and in a beautiful setting If we have to mention something that wasn’t ideal for our needs, it was that the bedroom is in a loft that is not isolated from either light or acoustically from the downstairs living area. We didn’t realise this when we booked as it wasn’t spelt out clearly. As we have different sleep patterns, it was difficult at times over the week we were there.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (10/5): Peaceful, relaxing and very enjoyable. - Beautiful location, wonderful ambience and spotlessly clean x Nothing
- Stephanie (9/5): Lovely clean and tidy property with a relaxing vibe - Excellent location, excellent property, we had a lovely time Nothing
- Terri (8/5): Very good - Beautiful surroundings. Having to go downstairs to the toilet during the night
- Duncan (10/5): The perfect getaway! The cottage is clean, cosy and comfortable. Will definitely be back! - Extremely quiet and peaceful, and less than 10 minutes from Daylesford.
- Bo (7/5): Good -
- Emma (10/5): Wonderful place to stay! - Fantastic cottage tucked away in the most beautiful surroundings! Perfect for a few relaxing days…close to everything but a hidden gem 🧡 Nothing!
- Christine (10/5): Peaceful stay oin a pretty cottage - Everything Stairs were very steep
- John (10/5): Absolutely the best place to stay. the owner was so nice and lovely. The place was so clean and tidy when we got there, - Property was very clean and tidy
- Lara (9/5): Superb -
- Clive (10/5): Spent 2 days cycling the area, retiring to the cottage each day to freshen up and relax was lovely - Lovely setting, quiet and peaceful. Owners live on grounds but ensure privacy. Maybe a coffee machine.
- Anav (9/5): Hidden gem, highly recommend. - I had an absolutely enchanting stay at Gumnut cottage, a hidden gem in woods. It’s located at a secluded location, away from the city hustle. Serene beauty of nature, surrounded by tall trees and the soothing sounds of the forest. An unexpected yet delightful surprise was a miniature pony that roamed the property. The cottage itself was a cozy retreat, well-equipped with all the comforts of home.
The hosts were incredibly hospitable and welcoming. I was welcomed with a bag of chocolates and personalised message. Both me and my partner really appreciated the kind gesture.
- Tamara (10/5): Highly recommend this property. - The amazing building on the beautiful surrounds. Quiet peaceful and close all we needed.
- Dianne (9/5): Tranquil and calming place...loved the loft - Quiet location and wood fire That the owners were so close...even though they were not seen.
- Anonymous (10/5): Wonderful, exceeded our expectations. - This property is beautiful and is even better than the pictures. There is a very large outdoor space with a pony and goats that you can go and say hello to. The grounds are beautiful, along with a fireplace inside that keeps the place extremely warm even on cold winter nights. Although the place feels very secluded, you are only approx 7-10 minutes from the town centre which is great. Along with the wonderful property the owner was very receptive and accommodating to our needs. 10/10 stay. The only improvement I would give to this place is updating the couch to something a little larger and more comfortable. Other than that it was perfect.
- Sarah (10/5): Would definitely recommend to others. Not too far from Daylesford. It was nice to be out of the hustle and bustle. - Nice and private.
- Rob (10/5): Exceptional - Great facilities, with everything you need for a great stay. Nothing to report.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Cottage was located in a peaceful area, only 10 mins from the local town. Great little place to get away from city life.
- Steven (9/5): Superb -
- Marjorie (10/5): We had the most amazing and relaxing stay. Penni was so easy to communicate with. Such a beautiful cottage. - it’s located in a peaceful place. Also, loved that the place was cosy and had a fireplace. It had everything you’ll ever need. Super close to Daylesford. it gets quite dark at night and there weren’t enough sensor lights outside. So it was hard to see when
walking from the car to the front door.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Georgina (9/5): wonderfully serene, comfortable, cozy location for a quiet getaway. Thank you. - Quiet, peaceful, comfortable, clean. perfect for a quiet getaway on your own or as a couple. Only 10 minutes from Daylesford for supplies.
- Elly (10/5): Wonderful location, excellent accommodation, and fantastic hosts! - Lovely location, super sweet accommodation and wonderful facilities.
- Madeleine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Prakiroy (9/5): Hidden Gem - Location and serenity around.
The cottage construction. Would be nice I there is a floor mat in toilet and rear exit door to avoid getting messy floors from outside.
- Christopher (8/5): Wet and bleak weather, but a great place to be during it. - solitude, excellent preparation by the owner. the bathroom door continually stuck, at one time wouldn’t shut. (five minutes with a plane would fix that)
water pressure very low, but understandable with tank water.
I must admit, had I known it had upstairs I wouldn’t have booked it due to my mobility issue….but we coped and enjoyed the stay. A minor comment, most places have at least a couple of biscuits for the hirer on arrival.
- Tracy (10/5): Excellent - I booked this accomodation as a gift for my daughter and son in law for a child free weekend getaway.
They have both raved about their stay at Gum Nut Cottage . The cottage was described by my daughter as perfect from the location, the comfort to the ponies and goats they woke up to. I will be booking this location for ourselves in the near future
- Sarah (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mirjana (10/5): The best weekend getaway ever! - This place is like dream. Loved everything about it. It's so cosy and feels like home. Views from deck and from every window are spectacular 👌 Everything was so clean and smelled fresh, personally I was impressed how every corner was spotless and I am super fussy when it comes to cleaning. Late check out was given to us without extra charge! Host house is just next door but you don't hear or see them at all, you get all privacy needed.
We will be back for sure!!!
Thank you Penni 😊
- Kathryn (10/5): Brilliant. We will return! - The property was beautiful, clean, and in a very tranquil location. Very well appointed with lovely touches throughout.
- Nick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carine (8/5): Very good -
- Zoe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (9/5): relaxing - very clean, quaint cottage in the bush, but not far from Daylesford. fabulous bird life.
- Tabberer (10/5): Perfect! - Beautiful cottage. Great location that suited our needs. Exceptional presentation.
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing area, away from everything and peaceful
- Jenny (10/5): Exceptional - Gumnut Cottage is picturesque. Gorgeous fireplace with lovely stonework surrounds.
The view from every window is amazing. The stairs to the bedroom are quite steep. Have to take care especially as the bathroom is on the ground floor. Otherwise it was amazing.
- Jacqui (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (8/5): excellent. a very relaxing stay thank you 🙏 - trees and bush from all the windows and bird sounds. privacy by owners on-site. lovely wood fire, spacious, super clean, all the kitchen amenities to cook a great meal, doggo friendly, good Wi-Fi so I could work a bit, and nice quirky goats 🐐 And close to Daylesford yet far enough to feel in the country. this was not an issue or a dislike at all- more feedback for consideration- …maybe a little dog fence to close off the back balcony. so doggo can sit in sun without running off to visit the goats.
- Izzy789 (8/5): Very good -
- Shannon (9/5): had a wonderful, relaxing mini break. very happy with every part of our stay. loved the cottage and location - it was in a lovely location, and the cottage itself was clean, comfortable and very homely. it was a little too close to the owners property
