Guest Reviews
- Cooksey's (7/5): Fantastic location and a great spot to kick back and relax. - Amazing location that was private and peaceful, with easy access to cafes and shops. Beds were great - very comfortable. The property is let down by poor maintenance which gives the appearance of neglect. Given the price point, this was disappointing. Some of the issues could be easily fixed whilst others were much larger.
Additionally, the lounges were particularly uncomfortable.
- Shane and Rachel (10/5): Will be back - this is a perfect peaceful getaway - The location is perfect. Quiet and peaceful with plenty of room. The house has loads of character. The only downfall is getting down to the beach. The rocks are a bit dangerous, especially if you’re elderly or have young kids.
- Tracy (7/5): It was a lovely space to escape with ocean views, away from the hustle and bustle of life. - The view from the dining table is amazing! The furniture and decor are lovely, suiting the theme of the house. Wonderful to have two toilets; and good air-conditioning in the lounge room. The grounds are quite private front and back with plenty of lawn for family and pets to play on. The Rental Estate Agency were quick to respond to our needs, with clear communication during stressful moments - detailed below :( Leaking roof in lounge room during rain events, wet the couch and we had to use a bucket and towels to keep dry. Leak in the back of the ensuite cupboard looks like water coming through the walls from outside when raining and strong winds hit. There is no air-conditioning in the master bedroom, which is essential on warm, rainy nights when humidity is high. There are no stairs down to the beach. The neighbors two boarder colly dogs were vicious to our little dog (barking and attacking through the fence). Unfortunately, this made our stay difficult when trying to get our dog relaxed enough to toilet on command.
- Kesley (10/5): Cozy Holiday Getaway - This was an amazing house to stay at during Christmas while remaining on a reasonable budget. It was fun for us to bring a few decorations along to celebrate as well. While the house is older and has some quirks, it's fairly well maintained. The kitchen/dinning area was spacious and great to cook in, and the living room was comfortable for 5 adults to relax in. The yard offered a nice place to relax in the sun and being on the water was great to go for walks, as the drop in the bay is really far out and you could walk with the water no higher than your knees most of the way. The signs in the house are appropriate to give warning that moving up and down the rocks can be dangerous, so do be careful and watch children. Seeing the little crabs in the sand as the tide moved in and out was fun. Only difficulty we faced was while we were there, on new years eve there was a fairly intense rain storm that caused a leak in the roof, but looks like it's a common spot that has been patched before. Thankfully the property manager/owner was able to be responsive despite it being a holiday and thanked us for letting them know. There's a little guest book where you can read what other people have written during their stay, so we left our note thanking for our time there! Our whole family loved it! It isn't fully clear in the photos and layout, but the area with the single bed isn't a fully enclosed room, and is part of the entryway/hallway to shared bathroom, which means open to the living room so the light/noise from the living room carries over. There is a wardrobe in front of the bed to offer privacy, we also added a blanket to the laundry drying rack for extra privacy. As long as those in your party don't mind, it's still a comfy place to rest.
- DEBORAH T (10/5): Absolutely stunning value for money. - Location was stunning and the view was immensely relaxing Main room kitchen and dining area were very hot with no air conditioning unit
- Tammy (7/5): - The location is everything - watching the tides come and go, the soldier crabs, the shore birds. Access to the beach other than a rock scramble would make this house a go-to.
- Amanda (5/5): An oldie but very quaint and has charm. A bit more maintenance and it would be great. - Location was great, quiet, lovely neighbourhood, close to shops and cafes.
Lovely grassed lawns and leafy gardens for privacy. Plenty of extras like beach towels and water bottles wine and tea coffee etc.
Bedding was clean and comfortable. Trouble unlocking the door and windows and luovers were difficult or couldn’t open for airflow. Only had aircon in lounge which left the rooms quite hot.
Difficult to access the beach and photos in advertising show a path but there isn’t one only way is to climb up and down rock wall which is quite high. Neighbours said we could use their access which they block off with concrete blocks as long as we move the blocks back.
So very disappointing as I only picked this rental because of the water access as my father relies on a walker and so he wasn’t able to enjoy the water at all.
One bedroom had a portable pedestal fan which looked like it could do with throwing in the dump, wouldn’t hurt to replace this to make it nicer for guests. Only $10 at Kmart.
Everything stuck to the furniture, our phones, our bags, the lamp so when you lifted them up with a mark was left or paint would come off.
The main bathroom leaks down into the laundry sink.
Curtains in the bedroom were half falling down.
The lounge was very stained and not inviting to relax on. But apparently hubby said it was comfy.

- emiliana (10/5): - Me and my family love and enjoy the house. Location was great. Definitely be back next year. We didn't have have thing we dont like.
- Brooke (10/5): Breathtaking views for your morning coffee - The view was breathtaking with it being right on the water, the kitchen had great cooking appliances, there was even a dog bowl for your pets. It was just a great home with a lot of comfort and beauty. I couldn't put a fault to the home, the real estate or the owners hospitality and their whole property. It was amazing.
- Jason (10/5): -
- Nikita (8/5): -
- Paul (8/5): Nice, but not posh. - Very nice location at the beach. The property is "not new" though renovations are actively underway.
- Bec_Cambrell (8/5): Beautiful relaxing beach shack - Location was so beautiful. Smoke alarm went off when using the shower in the main bedroom ensuite. Worked out that could stop this by putting on main bedroom ceiling fan when showering and for a while afterwards.
Ants in the kitchen.
A bit cold at night for time of year but sure this would be fine if not there in winter
- Selena (8/5): Overall it was a wonderful weekend away - Great location. Very peaceful with the water at your back door The internet was very poor. Kept dropping out, which was disappointing as it’s a low service coverage area for phones.
- Trish (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jenni (8/5): Loved the old house, the trees, garden & of course the beachfront location, renovated bathrooms & kitchen were g - Loved the location & the old style of the house. The scaffold poles holding up the house were a bit daunting on arrival, especially since the weather was so windy & rainy. The lounge room hadn’t been cleaned, sand all over the lounge & cushion were a mess, not straighten up at all since previous guests. In saying that though, the bedrooms were all beautifully presented, as was the kitchen & dining room.
We had planned (& bought food for) having BBQs but ended up cooking on the stove in the kitchen both nights & for breakfast due to the small (electric) BBQ (?) being so small.
It was a shame that a lot of the great old (character) windows don’t close, made it very cold & noisy with the strong winds that were blowing, plus we were a little worried about security since we don’t know the area.
A mop & a clothes dryer would be great addition too (since the weather was so wet).
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brendon (9/5): Great location and house, very comfortable. -
- Jameson (5/5): House is crap nice location - Great location
Can walk the dog on the sand when the tides out
Water is right up to the grass when it’s in Wasn’t clean. My arms stuck to the dining table so I used a towel as a table cloth and it almost became a feature
Back door step is an illegal and a death trap / law suit waiting to happen.
The aircon- is the size of a shoe box and dosnt cool the room let alone the house. Maybe a caravan ?
I was there in a reasonable climate but you will die in summer and freeze in winter as none of the windows close to seal or open at all. And during a full moon, midgees will eat you to the bone cause no fly screens and can’t close windows
The room you would put your kids in has no blinds
Toilet has no door and blind is broken so no privacy to onlookers. Window is like positioned to show the cistern perfectly.
The beds were ‘made ‘ for staging but not made to sleep in. not sure what the hell is going on there. Couch is filthy. I was hesitant to use any and all the plates and cutlery - everything really. Fridge too.
Like it’s never seen detergent.
Whole house is propped up with temporary acro props and asbestos cladding and roof. I would t sant my kids near that house.
And that bloody industrial water pump the neighbours have is so loud I can’t Fathom that the other neighbours haven’t complained about it. It’s like an overloading electric transformer that vibrates the earth. And that’s just during the day. Catastrophic at night. Can’t escape it. You’ll be angry about it the whole time you’re there. And the following week. It’s outrageous.

- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- Daisy (9/5): Beautiful location in a quaint comfortable beach cottage - Real Estate/Property Managers Amazing Location, beds & facilities fantastic
Beautiful quaint cottage who allow respectful pet owners ..thank you Property needs some external & internal maintenance which is typical of the harsh weather location
Just for that added special stay property
could do with additional decor touches eg a few more paintings, rugs & decor pieces & utilise the space just outside the main bedroom with 2 comfy armchairs & a small table for additional seating in this area to accomodate
Check mould on ceiling of main bedroom could have a roof leak
Respectfully the neighbours water pumping
system on the fence line is overly noisey &
constantly in use but nice neighbours too
- Benjamin (8/5): Very old cottage with modern interior. Well equipped. Beautiful location. The house needs flyscreens and maintenance and - Stunning position on the beach Inside clean and modern. Very old house in need of care and several items need maintenance. No fly screens.
- Glynis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jo (7/5): Good - Relaxing time, location Neighbours pump all through the night. Sprinkler system on lawns and the steps onto veranda as my 83 year old mother fell.
- Kel (10/5): Utterly brilliant, will be back! - Location, comfort, facilities Kettle was really grotty
- Debra (8/5): Very peaceful place to stay. Close to everything yet felt so private - Amazing location, right on the water Needed insect screens. Needed additional seating for the veranda
- Brown (8/5): Very good -
- Suzi (6/5): Good beachside location,a little run down but good value for money.Comfy beds and good sized kitchen - Loved being right by the beach, the soldier crabs at low tide were amazing to watch-never seen anything like it before.
Close to shops and for us as a family we were very close to our friends that we were visiting.
Beds were lovely and comfortable, the main bed was huge.
Good sized kitchen, secure property for our rental car. It was very hot with no air con,but the ceiling fans helped.Too hot in the 3rd space (not really a bedroom) so our son had to sleep in the lounge-but the sofas were nice and comfy and big so he slept very well.
Windows are very old and hard to open and shut.We would have liked to sit by the beach on the lawn at the end of the day but the sprinklers were on automatic timer and soaked us as we walked past, they were even spraying the porch area.
Shower pressure was good, but not when both showers were going at the same time so we only used one at a time.It was a bit weird having no door on the ensuite,ok for showering but not for on the toilet-also too hot in there, had to keep the blinds down as people walking past on the beach could see you on the toilet.
Overall the place was in need of some TLC but we were comfortable and it was good value for money, for us it was more about the location.
- Kate (8/5): Had a great time . But due to heat and humidity, having no aircon made it a bit uncomfortable - Clean, comfortable and good location No aircon. Which made the weekend very unpleasant at times .
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Natalie (8/5): Great location, wonderful views, great communication from PM, very clean & comfortable - We loved:
- the very clean open spaces inside
- the quiet location
- the fabulous view out the windows and from the back patio
- proximity to our working location
- the communication with the property manager was exceptional
It is obviously an older property and needs some TLC however it has so much charm! We have concerns about the lack of sensor/security lighting, especially at the front of the property and entrance.
Due to an unexpected delay at the airport, we arrived after dark. There was no lighting along the driveway to indicate a pathway through (2 paths) (we took the wrong one lol). There was no illumination (except for our mobile light) to access the key safe easily; there was no illumination (save the phone) on the steep, narrow steps to the front door. With port, bag, phone for light and key, no landing and having to use 2 hands to get the door open - ended up having an accident as I went through the doorway (which broke the front door handle - making the front door inaccessible for entry purposes). There was no key for the back door provided. PLEASE KNOW THAT THE PROPERTY MANAGER WAS AMAZING WITH THEIR COMMUNICATION WITH ME AROUND THIS MATTER
We weren't able to open the windows to access the beautiful ocean breezes - as there were no screens (mozzies and midges aplenty). We were in the area for work purposes - the only times we were in the house were from sundown to sunrise.
- Sarah (8/5): Beautiful peaceful location that was super quiet and relaxing. - The location was beautiful and it was very quiet and relaxing. You could hear the waves so it was very peaceful The bottle of bubbles in the fridge was a lovely thought thank you. The couches were abit dirty and not very comfortable. You could not close the louvers in the back area which let in the cold night air. We did not have anyone in the back bedroom but I think it would have been quite cold and drafty to sleep there.
- Ellen (10/5): Picturesque location. Beautiful home. Clean, quiet and comfy. Our new go-to when in Morton Bay. - The location is absolutely outstanding. The beach is literally in the backyard and watching the tide come in and out through the day was so relaxing. The home had everything we needed. The beds were ridiculously comfy and the whole home was spotless.
The town of Beachmere itself is also amazing. Great little shopping village 5 minutes drive. Fantastic local butcher open on Sundays. The hotel does great food. We'll definitely be back. The front bedroom was a little bit noisy and the main bedroom ensuite shower wasn't able to be used but those were minor issues on what was otherwise a very memorable weekend.
- Jeff (7/5): Rustic home with private section on the beach. - Location and size of accommodation. 2 1/2 bedrooms, big section right on waterfront. Would be ideal family spot for summer vacation. A quick stroll to limited (but great) cafes and shopping. Place could do with heating and a bit of maintenance.
- Anonymous (9/5): Very much enjoyed - Excellent location The back bed was a little cold and spare doona fell apart
- Kel (10/5): Utterly brilliant and fantastic - will be back! - Stunning ocean view! Couldn’t stay longer. Next time will pack extra blankets to cope with the ocean breezes
- Cheryl (5/5): Passable - location clean and tidy views amazing the house was very cold and no heating
- Belinda (8/5): Very good -
- Kyanna (8/5): beautiful location, perfect staycation. - Wonderful location, great balcony, private parking, easy check in & out. great size fridge, kitchen, dining table & lounge rooms. comfy beds Louver windows so cold inside at night. Cold showers both nights. No salt, pepper, baking paper, kitchen basics would be great. table outside would be great & some camp chairs or light plastic to sit on the grass by the beach
- Elaine (10/5): Very quiet and relaxing! -
- Cyril (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (8/5): Very good - The house is tidy and comfortable, the location is great.
The renovations inside have been done well and the furniture is comfortable. There is not a lot not to like, I'm sure the outside will be renovated soon, only a small thing but we loved the driveway.
- Leanne (10/5): A very relaxing stay - The location. Just beautiful
- Wagg (5/5): The property had positives but the broken tap was unsatisfactory as was lack of comfortable seating. - Nice location with afternoon breeze off the water. Well equipped kitchen with good appliances. Off street parking. Mixer tap in kitchen sink was broken and difficult to use which was unsatisfactory for the tariff we paid and the length of the stay. The house was very hot with no aircon and there were no screens on the windows and doors. Most of the windows were very difficult to open and close. Some comfortable seating away from the TV room would have been appreciated. The outdoor seating was not appropriate for older people to sit in.
- Bonnie (8/5): lovely refreshing break with a wonderful - location was amazing right on the bench and being able to watch the water each day no air con (which is mentioned) but ceiling fans not the best so the house was constantly hot and muggy and hard to sleep
- Scott (7/5): Good -
- Rick (7/5): Good -
- Marcel (8/5): I loved the location and the accommodation was simple but very nice...I wish I could buy it! - Door should be on the bathroom and toilet
- Dianne (8/5): great place for a relaxing few days - well presented- great renovations. Bottle of wine as a welcome. comfortable beds, good bath towels plus beach towels. no basics in the kitchen - would have been nice to have basics such as salt, pepper, sugar
- Cath (9/5): Superb -
- Lena (9/5): Superb -
- Meegan (10/5): Exceptional - The view and location Nothing
- Clifton (8/5): overall I loved the location but I would not stay again due to the firmness of the beds and the - fantastic location in a quintessential Queensland beach shack. the king bed and couches were very firm. it could have done with some more homely touches, lamps etc. I had to buy a bulb for the bedside light and there is something not right with bed lamps in the second bedroom as I felt like I was getting a mild electrical shock from touching the lamp trying to turn them on. Also the key code to the lock box was wrong so I could not get in on the night I arrived. Fortunately I managed to get onto one of the agents. There was no mobile number on the page info in case of an emergency only the agents land number which had a voice recording. I found a mobile number on the agents website but the person I spoke to was not at all apologetic. I did get a follow up all in the Monday and the person who called apologised.
