Guest Reviews
- Lisa (8/5): The fireplace... You can't beat it on a cold winter's evening. - The location is great. It's just outside the main part of town and has lots of trees around it. Wild animals could be seen from the windows. The fireplace was the best thing. Lots of firewood provided. It's a lovely atmosphere. I have stayed here twice, and on both occasions, I have felt the same way upon arrival. The kitchen is a little old-looking, and it's the first thing you see, and it feels disappointing. However, I have always enjoyed my stay very much. The fireplace in winter is fabulous, and I'd love to try the decking and grill in summer.
- Glenys (9/5): Relaxing and enjoyable - Quiet location.
Quick response from manager over a couple of issues.eg inadvertently locking keys inside!
Pillow left behind was quickly notified by manager and picked up.
Facility provided what we needed throughout WiFi would be nice but I guess for a day or two, not essential??
Most windows difficult to open to let in fresh air.
- Sarah (8/5): Loved our stay in wattletree cottage, hiker’s paradise! - Love the relaxing location and facilities of the cottage, beautiful deck and BBQ area with lots of resident wildlife. No wifi so internet on data can be patchy, TV signal also very limited & Wish it was pet friendly option.
- Richard (8/5): Staying in Halls Gap during Grampians Peak Trail event - Nice location, good facilities for what we needed for a 2 night stay
- Sally (9/5): Felt so relaxed, great set - Spacious for three people, loved the wooden fire and bbq area on the deck. The beds were great and it had a great vibe. The remotes for the tv & dvd stopped working but were able to manually change them.
Only two channel 7 programs worked on the tv, but enjoyed the DVD choices.
- Alan (8/5): Enjoyed - Enjoyed the cottage and location Firewood a little damp.
- Amberlee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beth (10/5): clean, warm and comfortable -
- Kelly (10/5): Fabulous holiday home. Wildlife galore! - Super clean, easy to access, really well equipped. Magpies, cockatoos, kangaroos. Close to town and the walking path to town. Quiet. Loved the wood fire. Large deck. Comfy beds.
- Brett (8/5): Very good -
- Amanda (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (8/5): Lovely stay definitely recommend! - Loved the location and the outdoor area with BBQ. The seperate rooms and lounge and laundry facilities a bonus. Kitchen could do with an upgrade. No proper handles on cupboard doors. Made it difficult to access being older and wooden.
- Jingna (8/5): Very good -
- Slav (5/5): Passable - The property is located on the side of the mountain and in the forested area. The property provides excellent mountain and tree views. Therefore, it creates an impression of staying in the middle of the forrest. My son especially enjoyed watching kangaroos from the windows.
The property also has reasonable bathroom with washing machine and dryer which is important for families with young kids. There is only one air-conditioner. However, it provides enough heating and there is also working fireplace. So, the property was warm. The property is only partly renovated and there are major problems with the kitchen area which is not only very dated. But also does not have a range hood above the stove. There were yellow grease staines above the stove in the ceiling and as I tried to make my Greek coffee the hot air from the boiling water started rise up and the grease in the ceiling started to smell pretty bad. I did not do any cooking using the stove for that reason.
There were several spiders and spider webs in the house. Plus there was only 1/3 of the cleaning sponge provided for some reason. The kitchen tap was leaking.
The property had an old house smell in the un-renovated areas. You can get used to it if you stay inside long enough. But if you exit and come back in you will well it again. My wife is more sensitive to smell and was using her perfume to distract the house smell.
- Malvina (9/5): A lovely place to stay and explore the area - Lovely setting and well equipped No wifi
- Tania (10/5): Our stay was restful and rejuvenating in a beautiful location. I can’t recommend Wattletree Cottage highly enough if yo - Wattletree Cottage is lovely! It is clean and comfortable, has a well appointed kitchen, the beds are very comfortable and the location was exceptional. Nothing.
- Anonymous (5/5): The house was simple and all we needed but kitchen was very dated. The fridge froze our food twice butbwe were helped - The location was perfect. The kitchen was very dated. Ants invaded our food we left on the bench.
- Craig (8/5): Very good -
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Lisa (7/5): The fireplace made this property cosy and pleasant to spend time in the winter evenings. - The fireplace really made this property a delight. There was more than adequate firewood. It was cosy and made the evenings very pleasant. This property was adequate (it had everything we needed). However, the kitchen is old (although clean enough). Also, the bathroom is very cold. Only one of the heating lights worked. Additionally, there were no instructions for the heating system and the timer was set so the first night was terribly cold (it turned off automatically). Check if the timer needs to be turned off before retiring to bed in winter.
- Sharon (8/5): Perfect little cosy, warm cottage for a winter's weekend getaway. Wildlife is fantastic. - Very comfy little cottage. Fireplace was great. Heated it up nicely.
I liked the small, thoughtful things that the owner provided - like a plunger for coffee, or pegs and laundry basket. Also, was generous with amount of toilet paper and bodywash provided. More than enough firewood supplied. Nothing to complain about.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Deborah (9/5): Great little cottage. Excellent location for Grampians weekend + kangaroo visitors! - Very clean and comfy cottage in a great location for exploring the Grampians. Great heating and a lovely fireplace to keep us toasty warm. Kitchen is basic but totally fine for a weekend. BBQ outside worked great.
- Travis (6/5): Pleasant -
- Adele (10/5): A restful and fun weekend away with the kids. So much to do! - It was a great space for our family of 4 and a lovely walk into town too. Being surrounded by the big gum trees and quiet neighbours was a bonus too! When sitting outside, the bird life harassed us a little bit, but that may be something fun for others!
- Bonnie (8/5): Very good - A well-appointed house with everything you could need. Comfortable beds, great deck and BBQ for meals, lovely fire that kept us warm on cold nights.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (7/5): House was in a perfect quiet location. - Beautiful, quiet location and close to the main town. One of the windows in the lounge room was missing a curtain/blind so passersby were able to see into the loungeroom. Would have been nice to know where the spare gas bottle was kept for the weber as the one attached to it was empty.
- Emma (8/5): Very good -
- Troy (7/5): Good -
- Fiona (9/5): Superb -
- Sherste (8/5): Very good - The wildlife was refreshing to see and the stag was a bonus
