- Amie (10/5): Comfortable and enjoyable with a home like feel. - Fantastic location, had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were lucky enough to see dolphins and even a whale from the front deck. The home is set in a beautiful, quiet location. Perfect weather during our stay allowed us to enjoy the front deck and ocean views. The steep driveway took a bit of getting used to, but wasn’t a huge issue.

- Sharon (8/5): We really did enjoy our stay, would come again and recommend to family and friends. The setting is perfect for a relaxin - Felt secluded, though really easy access. Great views, spacious, and very comfortable. A lovely place. All overhead fans were very dusty. Mop and water marks across the floor in the lounge and dining area giving it the appearance of being dirty. Dining table and coffee table also very worn and marked, again giving the impression both were dirty. Coffee supplied was very stale, discoloured and hard. No sugar or substitute supplied. Though host informed of this on our arrival, none provided.

- Kate (8/5): Winter walks and wildlife watching! - The location was amazing, we could easily walk into Penneshaw. So much wildlife around the house, we even saw dolphins from our window. The house is next to a wallaby trail, so we saw lots of wallabies and kangaroos. Some beautiful walks around the area. I can't wait to come back.

With the wonderful outdoor setting on the front deck, we could sit back and relax while watching ferries, two cruise ships and regular morning dolphins frolicking! Nothing at all!

The view was lovely and could be enjoyed sitting on the patio or inside in the sitting room. It was roomy and very clean. Not a criticism but a suggestion that the patio furniture could be better.

The second bedroom too small and the bed not so comfy and was a bit noisy when one person moved. No door on ensuite. Would prefer a TV in the kitchen lounge area. Would like some paytv to watch the footy.

- Robyn (10/5): Penneshaw in May - The location is excellent both for staying local and enjoying walks and wildlife and as a base for exploring the island on day drives. Magnificent views over the ocean . Everything provided there was of high quality, clean and allowed for meals and picnics to be prepared in the kitchen or BBQ. Very comfortable warm bedding. Nothing we didn't like
- Magdalena (10/5): Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. - This place is fantastic. The views of the strait between Kangaroo Island and the Main land of Australia is wonderful from the settee in the main room. To sit on the verandah and have a quiet drink ( of any kind) in the evening or breakfast with dolphins frolicking in the gulf is just awesome. The beds are very comfortable, the main bedroom has a huge ensuite with a lovely shower. The family living room space is big enough to have a party in. (not that we had one :)). The cupboards are stocked with so many things that are available to use such as cutlery, crockery and even coffee, sugar, condiments etc. We have stayed here twice now, the second time to give our cousin from the Netherlands a look at Kangaroo Island and its wonderful attractions. Wineries, the Raptors, Flinders Chase, Kingscote, honey and eucalyptus farms are just a few. Penneshaw also has a great Hotel for meals and the people are very friendly. I would recommend Ashenden's to anyone who is looking to stay on Kangaroo Island. Thank you again Helen and family for allowing us to stay in your beautiful holiday house. We will definitely come again. For our tastes there was nothing we didn't like except maybe the dead kangaroo under the tree. :)

The house was clean and comfortable and our directions to get there were accurate and easy. Watching the ferry go by from the living room window was relaxing and felt like time stood still. We really felt like we were on holidays. Even the kangaroos visited us while we stayed there. We would highly recommend Ashendens to anyone visiting Kangaroo Island and would definitely stay again. We were sad when it was time to leave!
