Guest Reviews
- Scott (5/5): We enjoyed our stay. The staff that I talked to on the phone tried her best to accommodate our concerns. - The location to the snowmobile trails and a great bathroom. The stairs down to our lower unit were very snowy and slippery. Very dangerous. The motion light outside st the stairs didn’t work. We had difficulties with our unit door lock. The unit was described as having three beds. It had two beds and a small camp cot.

- Sanaz (1/5): Unclear communication and misleading listing details made the stay disappointing. - NA Overall, I was not satisfied with this stay due to a lack of clear communication from the beginning. The listing stated that pets are allowed, but the $157 per-pet fee was not disclosed upfront. After booking, I had to spend over an hour calling and messaging just to get this fee waived for my very small puppy, which should not have required so much follow-up. Fixed fees should be clearly stated, not vaguely mentioned as “pet fees may apply.”, when everywhere fees are around 30 CAD.
The sleeping arrangements did not match the listing. The room was advertised for four people with a double bed, single bed, and sofa bed, but we found only one double bed, a regular (non-convertible) sofa, and a folding COT instead of a single bed. This was uncomfortable and disappointing, especially for a guest who had traveled a long distance.
The listing also said “entire place is yours,” yet several rooms were locked and inaccessible, and we were later told we had only booked a single room. This contradiction was misleading.
Another issue was the heating. In extremely cold weather (around −23°C with wind chill), the thermostat was located in a locked upstairs area we could not access. Being told to request passwords and manage this ourselves was unreasonable; temperature control should be simple and accessible.
Finally, the kitchen lacked even basic items such as salt, which reflects a lack of attention to guest needs.
We left the place clean and followed all checkout instructions, but the stay was stressful and time-consuming due to constant follow-ups. Because the listing did not accurately represent the experience and communication was poor, I would not recommend this place.
- Ashley (8/5): Check fees sooo closely cleaning fee is same as rental fee was for me at least looks great and spacious - Quiet and roomy Needs light going down the stairs to the lower side of the dwelling and should have ice cube trays for ice, I enjoyed it but paying wasn’t very understanding and clear about actual fees, I did not realize until after paid that there is an insainly ridiculous$105 cleaning fees thought it was the deposit mentioned and I would have never rented for that price just for cleaning it’s was hardly used for one night not even 15 hours there. We didn’t even get in till after 8pm I believe so Kind of a big ripoff since it was the exact same price as the actual rental smh just for that reason alone won’t recommend it everything else was pretty great! Don’t think I’ll rent again for a cleaning fee like that never have before anywhere else and I’ve travelled all over the world!
- Jean-Michel (10/5): -
- truscott (8/5): - Good for a group. Not a single really. They dont issue receipts. They say call long distance to 86 area code for a receipt. Really
- Joao (10/5): -
- julia (9/5): Good place - Everything was clean.
Bed was super comfortable.
Neighborhood was super quiet too
It's just the perfect place to explore Algonquin park!
Bonus point:washer and dryer. Everything was nice!
- Dinand van Aalderen (7/5): - The house was perfect en very clean. To get into the house and get the code was awfull. We stayed 1,5 hours outsite en called 5 times before we get the code. How we can get into the house.
- Alan (8/5): - A Whole apartment in downtown Bancroft, complete kitchen etc The garbage outside
- Hamilton (1/5): Bad - Didn't make it there, donated $215 to their cause! YOU are Welcome Booked it 48 hrs a head of check in canceled 24 before check in and still paid full price. $215 out the door!
- Jennifer (1/5): BEWARE - Scam alert - After paying for my one-night, non-refundable stay (approximately $200, including a $90 cleaning fee), I was directed to a website to complete my registration to obtain the door code. At this point, I was informed I needed to pay an additional ***********$157 in pet fees************.
This being an outrageous amount, I messaged the property to confirm this was not an error and then to request they make an exception and issue me a refund given this fee was highly unexpected. They declined. I contacted booking.com customer support and got nowhere. The listing says "Pets are allowed. Fees may apply." No one would ever expect a pet fee to be this high. It is not industry standard, particularly when a $90 cleaning fee was already paid.
DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING WITH PETS. Their pet fees are outrageous and their CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS TERRIBLE.
I ended up booking a different hotel in town (their pet fee: $10).
- Chris (9/5): Superb - Very clean, well put together, Quiet spot. Not a fan of there check-in process. Also not the end of the world but given I was there when it was -6 outside, something to note there’s no thermostat in this basement apartment. Wasn’t the warmest but if you have a good sweater you’ll be fine.
- Jules (7/5): Good -
- Dalton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donald (9/5): A comfortable, well-located place to stay in Bancroft at a reasonable price. - Spotless and well-stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Quiet and private location near the river yet only a short walk from shops and restaurants. Couldn’t always figure out how to watch streaming channels on the excellent 55-inch TV. A sheet of instructions would help.
- Brooke (10/5): Very relaxing and easy - Always very clean and fresh, with all the amenities and things that you need for a good weekend stay! Very accommodating and very affordable in the heart of the quiet town
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean and comfortable. Great location, close to town and the atv trail.
- M (1/5): Disgusting!!! - I was not allowed by Nomaddicts to like anything whatsoever. I began receiving texts from Nomaddicts days in advance to send photos of my drivers license to get early processing. I began trying to do this, following the link they provided. I took pictures of the front and back of my license, following the photo requirements they insisted on. When I sent the first (front) photo, all I got was an extended "Processing" image on screen and then an eventual notification, that my photo didn't meet their requirements. I wasn't allowed to proceed any further. Repeated attempts over about a three day period during my trip, using different photos, in case there had been something wrong with the first one I sent and wasn't aware, all resulted in exactly the same processing and rejection results. The day I was due to check in, I tried twice again from Minden, Ontario on my way to The Artistry in Bancroft. Rejection again. When I got to Bancroft, I made one last try, having already made a long day of it on the motorcycle to get there from Sudbury. My photo was again rejected. So I wasn't able to gain access to the door code and gain access to the site. I had to make a decision at that point. Try to find somewhere else to stay or continue on home. There were very few open listings on the Booking.com site for Bancroft days before, when I booked. So I made the decision to carry on to home and added another full five hours of riding to my day. I got home two nights ago and I'm still not recovered from that very extended day's ride. I am completely disgusted with the entire experience and don't want to be charged, for what I intended in good faith to be my stay at The Artistry.
- Bowman (10/5): Happy Times - The location was absolutely stunning! The cleanliness was above and beyond!!!... And that there was free Wifi
Laundry on site, and we could watch anything on TV
Oh did I mention that it was absolutely stunning! We will be staying with you again! We can't thank you enough for such a pleasant stay!!!... That we had to leave and couldn't stay longer!
- Ramon (8/5): Very good -
- Alexus (10/5): Divine - Beautiful decor, easy to find, good security, very clean and spacious place.
- Brent (8/5): Great spot easy to deal with super clean - Excellent location for snowmobiling trail in back yard good size laneway No heat control for lower level. And they don’t tell you there’s 2 units
- Hope (9/5): Wonderful and clean 1bd apartment. Hosts were great and we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Bancroft! -
- Duncan (9/5): Superb -
- Philip (6/5): Nice place. Okay value. - Good location. Amazing customer service and support. Lots of parking. Plenty of towels and toiletries provided. Comfortable bedroom bed. Very clean. Very old sofa bed (uncomfortable) that caused back pain when waking up. No thermostat controls so temperature is dependant on upstairs guests. Weak WiFi that kept disconnecting. Thin ceiling so noisy upstairs guests can be heard stomping around.
- Erin (9/5): Superb - The location was excellent for all of the outdoor adventures we wanted to do. The place was very clean and comfortable. The pillows in the bedroom could be smaller or have a variety.
- Joyce (7/5): Good -
- Sandy (1/5): Don't book this place. - We actually never stayed at this place because we had to cancel due to the fact that the owner wanted to charge $150 per pet to stay there. I booked the place for $112! I couldn't find a fee for the pet (listing says there will be a fee but no actual dollar figure) and I couldn't find a way to contact the owner of the property to ask. So I booked thinking it would be $50 for the pet. I am a Superhost with Airbnb and would never charge a night's stay for a dog.
I asked for a refund and the owner didn't respond, so I contaced Booking.com and they said I would receive a full refund and I didn't. The whole booking was around $200 and I got $86 back. The owner of the property charged me for a "no-show" which is ridiculous given I asked for a refund the day before (I booked the day before arrival date) and they never got back to me. So not only did they want a crazy amount for a pet to stay there, but then they are non-communicative and charged me a "no-show"???
These people are not in the service industry and don't know how to be good hosts that can make acceptions as normal human beings would. Money grabbers, not good people.
- Anne (8/5): Very good - the 1-800 number service was very prompt and helpful The door code we were assigned did not work, but we got help quickly from the emergency number
- Nick (10/5): Awesome, relaxing. Can’t wait to come back - Beautiful decor. Awesome bed. Lots of free coffee was an excellent surprise.
- Tim (9/5): awesome - clean and bright good location pullout bed uncomfortable
- Anonymous (10/5): fantastic place I will definitely be staying there again - it was right on the snowmobile trail and close to food and gas the house number is a little small
- Halton (9/5): Superb - Location, Clean Sofa Bed was extremely uncomfortable
- Jessica (8/5): Very good -
- Qin (10/5): Clean and Convenience - The room is very clean; location is very convenient. I would recommend this place to anyone especially families with kids. The Riverside Park is just at the backyard.
- Tia (8/5): it was okay - big and private there was no light bulb in one of the llanos. there was no sugar for coffee. there was no soap or shampoo for the shower.
- Flower (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caroline (9/5): Superb - Very clean and modern with full kitchen. Not much other than could not control temp - air was on and apartment was cold!
