They were very quick to respond when we had a question and needed to contact them. The fact that there is a designated areas to take your pets was a benefit. Overall it was a very positive experience and we will definitely be returning.

Norma (4/5): Seven cottages very close together. Only 2 are truly waterfront - The cottage was spotless. Toiletries and towels were provided. Lovely wildlife (swans on the lake). We stayed 3 nights in Cottage #2 (waterfront). There are several things future guests should know: 1. There are 7 cottages very close together, with little space between them. They are packed so tightly that even basic recreation (ball, badminton, frisbee, etc.) wasn’t possible. 2. Only Cottages 1 and 2 are truly waterfront; the other 5 are set further back (rows 2 and 3) or next to the main road. 3. The listing advertises “a range of activities and amenities,” but none were included. Rentals next door offered kayaks, available until 4 PM and very expensive (e.g., $90 + tax for two people for 2 hrs in a kayak), despite the website mentioning a “per-day fee.” 4. The lake is not swimmable — far too weedy to enjoy jumping from the dock and very close to a marina. But, there is a public beach nearby. 5. Our bedroom was so tiny that there was no space for a dresser or closet, so we had to put our luggage and clothes in the living room. 6. In addition to 13% HST and a $75 cleaning fee, the property also charges a 4% “destination" fee, which is a County tax. 7. For the premium price (~$1,500 for 3 nights), the value felt disappointing.

The location, the cottage, bedrooms, washroom, kitchen, dinning area, private BBQ, deck, and private chairs by the water front! 1 min walk to Tim Hortons and Gas Station, 2 mins walk to the beach, 5 mins walk to Foodland. Samantha was very friendly. Stephen didn't say hi to us but that's okay. We will stay at this property again! some black mold flying out of the AC unit but I still give this place a 10.

Initially worried about being close to a busy road but the cottage was soundproofed and we were never bothered by traffic noise, we all slept very well. The town of Wellington was lovely and great restaurants were nearby. Had to love the ice-cream shops…who knew that ice cream could be a meal! The seating area by the water’s edge was very relaxing and it was fun to watch the wild life in the early morning! I’d love to go back!

The space was clean and bright and beautifully appointed. It had everything including the wine bottle opener that I had forgotten! We were able to walk to Dinner down at the Drake Devonshire and it was fabulous. Next day we watched the PEC Parade and watched the Giant Pumpkin Weigh off. Great place to stay! Highly recommend

RAJEEV (10/5): - We were booked in the Loyalist Cottage which had three bedrooms and could accommodate 6-7 persons, with only one bathroom to share. We were two persons on this trip and one bathroom was more than sufficient. The unit is the farthest away on the property and you do not get a clear view of the lake. The location is no doubt right off the water, they have a beautiful seating area where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful nature, sunset and the wildlife. The white swans were a treat to see. This was our first time staying at The Birch and we would certainly love to go back again. The cottage was very clean and very well equipped. It is situated on the West Lake and is close to amenities and restaurants. Walking distance from the Dunes Boat Tours company. Overall, a nice and cozy place to stay for a couple of days. Thanks to Samantha and Stephen for allowing us to check-in a couple of hours early.

Didn't expect to have so many amenities that we could use during our stay including the BBQ on our own patio looking over the lake, swans, and ducks! Speaking of location, it's right across from the gas station with Tim Hortons, not that we bought anything from there, but it's so convenient that you could just cross the street for any incidental supplies or snacks. The bed in the main room is surprisingly not as comfortable as the sofa beds. Regardless we slept well. Also the main dining table inside has an uneven surface that we spilled some stuff moving things around.
