• Mubin (6/5): Not worth the money - Location is close to the Great Wall The property is not what is described in the pictures. Bathroom door lock doesn’t work. Wifi connection is bad and keeps dropping every couple of minutes.

• Ben (2/5): Horrendous and would avoid at all costs ! - This was not an easy process, I had to call the property owner who then had to guide me on the phone to the apartment. The room was filthy, marks all over the walls and dust everywhere. We asked the owner if it would be possible to move to a different a accommodation but he replied that for what we paid this is what we should expect! We left a day early because of the dirt and that we could not relax inside the property. We enquired about a refund but were told there was no chance of this! The property is very old and tired and the balcony was a complete mess with rusty table and chairs.

• Matthew (4/5): Disappointed with false advertising: all in all it was okay, but I feel deceived - Smooth checking process, helpful point of contact Does not look anything like the picture. No pool, and it is a run down bottom floor apartment, not a villa as described. Also, described as accommodating 4 adults and two kids, but only had two beds. Sofa was not a sleeper sofa as indicated in the ad.

• Robinthierry (3/5): This is neither a hotel nor a villa but a cheap flat in an 8-story building. - The location, near to the shuttle bus going to Simatai Great Wall. The person in charge is fast and efficient. Arriving in it is a challenge as no car is allowed to enter the city. So you have to phone, to make an appointment with the person in charge (who does not speak English) and wait for this person alongside the road. The flat is basically furnished and equipped. It lacks maintenance. The water heater was not working on my arrival. The only bedside lamp has no switch anymore so you have to plug/unplug it. Very few power sockets available. The bed mattress is very, very firm. Too firm ! One window has no curtain so it is never dark inside the room. The bottle of shower gel was… empty The bathroom is dark with only one weak ceiling lamp and no other light. Good luck to make up or shave yourself ! A woman woke me up, knocking at the door at 07:30am to hand me a plastic bag containing a typically Chinese breakfast (forget coffee, toast, scramble eggs... !) There is no daily room service. If you do not speak Mandarin and look for a room matching with a European standard, better sleeping in the first nearby hotel. Furthermore, The price is very high for what you get. Not really a scam but… it looks like it.

• Andrea (10/5): Exceptional - It was pretty close to gobei water town, like 5 minutes walking. Maybe because it was in winter and we were foreigner, we were having some struggle. There was not reception or person aviable. Lucky us, we found out a person who new the manager and call him (that person seemed to work remotely from Beijing), so we were having problems to pay because we didn't have wechat and the Ali pay didn't work to do transfers. At the end we agreed to pay by cash, and give the money to the person who called him, that person took us to the flat and gave us the code to get in. The place was not the same displayed in the pictures, but I'm glad that at the end everything worked out. The flat wasn't that bad and I could see the great wall from the balcony. At night it is lighted so is a nice thing to see.

• Dieter (2/5): Great views of the Great Wall at Simatai. However, everything else very underwhelming experience - Great views of the Simatai Great Wall, illuminated at night We weren’t allowed into the compound until we’ve registered with the local police station 20km away. Villa with pool was confirmed and paid for, but on arrival we found out that our villa didn’t have a pool. Communication with the landlord was ok, he apologised for his ‘mistake’ and offered a discount. Beds were very hard, just plain wooden planks with a very shallow mattress on top

• Donald (9/5): A great short trip to Watertown that was very very comfortable in a highly convenient location. I would recommend as the - A great location and very comfortable apartment. Warm and welcoming. Dealing with the operators was very easy and pleasant. The paths were a little slippery- but it was not bad at all.
