Guest Reviews
- Lieselot (8/5): -
- Sarah (9/5): Excellent, thank you - Clean, well-equipped, everything you need. Charging extra for sheets & towels and cleaning - this should all be wrapped into the price, so it's clear and dealt with when booking (even if the price has to be a bit more).
- Rouwen (8/5): -
- Agnès (8/5): - La maison est très belle et bien équipée, l'hôte très gentil et arrangeant. La proximité de la route très passante malgré le triple vitrage.
- Catherine (9/5): Really enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was great but stairs were difficult for older people or small children. - Everything was great. The stairs!
Very steep with shallow tread. Needed to crawl up stairs and come down sideways
- Luzeau (9/5): -
- Rob (10/5): worked perfectly for us -
- Charlotte (8/5): Lovely house! Stairs need a bannister. - Downstairs is impeccable. A really nice house! And a lovely garden too. Good range of TV channels, and a lovely bathroom. The stairs are lethal. There isnt a bannister and the steps are very narrow. The stairs are not suitable for kids or elders.
- Jean (8/5): Lovely Rural property to get away from it all. - The large garden allows for some space to run about for the little ones. The patio area is a nice touch. The rural location was great as could hear neighbouring farm animals early in the morning. The main road that is located close by can be a bit noisy during the daytime but in the evenings it is super quiet and relaxing. The bathroom was massive and had a big walk-in shower and a deep bath (May be a bit tricky to get in and out for elderly guests). The rooms were clean and had freestanding cupboards which were useful. Due to the location of the property being quite rural and the warm weather we had during our stay, we had a large number of flies/insects entering the property (just something to be aware of). As with other reviews, the stairs are incredibly steep, with very narrow steps and no handrails. This is an issue when coming down at night especially as the bathroom is located downstairs and the bedrooms are all located upstairs. I was concerned for the safety of our little one when using the stairs and escorted her each time. The house guide (information book) had outdated instructions in regard to garbage disposal. (Staed that yellow bag is to be used for general waste when none were present, I had to purchase some only to be told after that general waste should be put in the waste bin. This is not a complaint but rather a notice that some inaccuracies are present in the supplied house guide. - But we had a wonderful stay at this property and I have highlighted these points solely for the information of future guests.
- Bree (4/5): Disappointing - I would be very wary about booking here. They require a €250 deposit to be paid by bank transfer, not through Booking.com. I hadn’t noticed this before booking and was stuck when asked a week before check in for the deposit, plus an additional charge for towels and linen.
In my case, they returned my deposit without checking my bank details with me first and now, two months on, it is still tied up somewhere in an intermediary bank. 'T schotje have washed their hands of it saying it’s not their responsibility. I am still out of pocket €250 and having spent countless hours on the phone with my bank trying to track down the deposit. I am not optimistic I will get it back.
Quite frankly, the stay was just not worth any of this. I would advise anyone considering booking a stay here to be very cautious about it.
- Robert (9/5): Great clean, modern house - Amazing place with everything we needed.lovely and clean and in a great location for visiting ww1 sites on the leper salient. Didn't get chance to use the rear garden due to weather, but it looked great. The only criticism I could say is that it could possibly do with a handrail on the stairs.they were quite steep and the treads narrow
- Gloria (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice and comfy, beautiful yard
- Louise (8/5): Very good - Clean. Beautiful downstairs kitchen, dining area. Quick reply from staff. Weird layout. All 3 bedrooms are upstairs but the only bathroom is downstairs. For that many bedrooms you need 2 bathrooms. There is only 1 toliet and 1 separate shower room. The stairs are very steep and potentially dangerous.
- Mark (8/5): Very good - Very spacious home, well appointed and comfortable, with a large garden. It is a nice house and we had a good stay, but you need to be aware of the things noted below to avoid surprises. The host requires a separate damage deposit on EUR 250 which has to be paid before check in. There is no credit card option and can only be paid by bank transfer. We hadn't realised this and we only got the banking information 3 days before check in. This became very inconvenient as it wasn't straightforward to organize.
Also, there is an additional charge for linen and towels. I have never had this on Booking.com before, Furthermore, this wasn't disclosed on the website at booking so we had to call Booking..com to negotiate eliminating the charge. This took over an hour. I notice that the charge is now mentioned on the website.
Finally, the kitchen is well equipped but there is no supplies such as tea, coffee, salt pepper etc . Also, no soap or cleaning supplies.
There is only one bathroom downstairs. The stairs to the top level are extremely steep and there is no handrail.
Finally, the house rules are extensive and explicit. The implication is that you must leave the home as you find it, even though you are paying for cleaning, or there will be a fee from the deposit. We were even asked not to use the washer despite this being offered as a feature of the unit.
- Victoria (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (8/5): had a comfortable and peaceful time. It’s always good to relax. - very comfortable the stairs very dangerous. need a hand rail
- Yves (6/5): Pleasant - Living room and kitchen was very nicely decorated and designed. Downstairs was very lovely. Location was not the best and the stairs were too narrow and steep (there is no handgrip and it is very dangerous to go downstairs, our friend has fallen down and after almost 2 months of being there she still have issues with her lower back). The bedrooms are very basic and the matrass was our nightmare. They should have provided thicker matrasses and not so thin ones where we could feel the buttom of the bed. We didnt sleep well here.
- Lisa (9/5): Family visit to Belgium - Location was great to visit ww1 museums and a day trip to Bruges. Great family space, open plan and huge garden with covered outdoor eating space. Huge bath which was very much appreciated.
Easy to find as just off main road in a rural location.
Extremely good value and hosts quickly responsive to any queries. Property would benefit from rope bannister or rail as stairs up to bedrooms are fairly steep.
