Guest Reviews
- PANAGIOTIS (5/5): Rather disappointed - Very nice location in a quiet neighborhood Unfortunately our experience in general was rather disappointing…lack of cleanliness, dust covering almost everything, dirty WC facilities, worn out bath towels, dirty window curtains, spider nets hanging from the ceiling, cracks in the walls etc…far from our expectations and not in accordance with ratings and reviews we had taken into consideration when making the reservation. Sadly to say so but should I were aware of all these issues I would have cancelled my booking. I felt like not being respected at all by the facility owner, did not deserve such lack of hospitality at all!
- Sara (8/5): Well located house in central Bruges - Amazing location, incredibly central but very peaceful. Comfortable, warm house. Very reasonable price for a Christmas break in Bruges.
- Kelli (8/5): -
- John (9/5): Three nights in a great location and a lovely property, really pleased we chose Huyze Aida - For us the location was great, a little away from the central square but close enough to all the tourist spots (brewery!) and the Christmas markets. Bedrooms were very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and plenty of hot water for a shower. Everything was great 👍🏻
- Dialekti (4/5): -
- Tim (8/5): - Extrem gute Lage und Erreichbarkeit mit dem Auto. Parkplatz unbedingt vorher Buchen. Gute Ausstattung.
- Maria (5/5): -
- john (7/5): Pleasant accommodation in excellent central location. - Location was excellent.
Property had 3 good sized bedrooms with comfortable beds.
Pleasant sitting room with a well equipped kitchen area. Property was a little dated and would benefit from some renovation and improvements, particularly to staircase and bathroom.
- GAIL (10/5): Absolutely ideal! - Beautiful character property, the most fantastic location for the centre of Brugge. The property was spacious, comfortable and more importantly in November lovely and warm. Beds were soft and comfortable. Never slept so well! Right in the heart of Brugge with all the restaurants, Christmas markets and sight seeing just around the corner but it was in a beautiful quiet location just off the Main Street. Fantastic Nothing, loved the character, squeaky stairs and everything!
- giuseppina (10/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): - Location Nothing
- Helen (9/5): Great time. Great location. Wonderful city. - Location, location, location Bathroom sink and tub drained slowly. Because of small shower curtain, water from shower spilled onto bathroom floor. From the bathroom floor water dripped through the ceiling onto the room below, between dining table and back door.
(9/5): Great location, nice place for a family for a short stay in Bruges - The location is great, it is really withing minutes of walk from the main touristic attractions. On the other hand it is not directly on the touristic path itself, so it is quiet except of some cars passing by. The house is old, but spacious, it has nicely equipped kitchen, 2 toilets, habitable attic (our kids enjoyed sleeping up there). There are two double beds (sleeping room and attic), and one bunk bed, so it is possible to accommodate even 6 people. The bed linen were crispy white so as the towels, like in a hotel. TV (never used) and Wi-Fi (handy). Checking-in and out was easy; the code lock allowed to be truly independent and free to enter/leave; the instructions from the owner were clear; communication via e-mails through the Booking.com. In the apartment there are some additional materials about Bruges and a list of the suggestions about dining/attractions. It was a great place for two-nights stay to explore the city. It is an old house, so it feels correspondingly. It is not bad or a reason for complaint. A small nuisance is mosquitoes, but living in a place surrounded by canals, it's inevitable.
- Jeroen (7/5): -
- Racheal (6/5): Great location, needs a good clean, new linen and to fix the bottom stair. - Great location. Good price. Not very clean. Very musty. Fans were extremely dusty. Bottom step broken. Stains on mattress / pillows. Lots of mosquitoes. Wardrobe in main bedroom filled with disgusting blankets and spare pillows.
- kathleen (9/5): - Really great location, a lot of space. The home had everything we could need. A wonderful place to start exploring or to spend some time relaxing. Friendly and informative host.
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Zack (8/5): -
- sourosh (10/5): Amazing stay - Location and how comfortable the property felt Nothing important to mention
- Ayse (6/5): Great location, mediocre conditions to stay. - The location was amazing! The property was ready when we came. Main bed was comfortable but the attic was unbearably hot! It was impossible to sleep there… Since it is near the river there are a lot of mosquitoes which kept us awake . The bathroom and the living room at the entrance floor smells a bit funny.
- Elizabeth (7/5): Clean house with plenty of space. Some kitchen furniture could do with an update. - Location was good. Just off the Main Street but quiet. So many mosquitos already in the house. They were hard to get rid of from the start and all of us ended up bitten.
- Cathi (9/5): Excellent location.wonderful facilities. All you could need! Thanks 🙏 - Excellent location! Really comfortable. Good comfy beds. Great facilities. We were all very pleased with the location. Stunning view from the attic. What a lovely space. You can lie in the attic bed and gaze at the church of our lady steeple. Very special. Thank you Nothing. Honestly wonderful
- Cecile (8/5): This is a great place to visit historic Bruges. - When I found the second bathroom it was great. See above.
- Will (7/5): Needs some tlc - Location is great, on a quiet street yet very central. Beds were comfy. The place had been cleaned well before we arrived. Check in was smooth and Carl was communicative. No hand soap provided so we had to go buy some.
The bottom two steps of the ground floor staircase feel like they are going to break soon and had an incredibly loud creak which woke people in the night. Paint is peeling in many places. Showering is not pleasant as I had to lean down to get head under water and only had a flimsy shower curtain round the bath. Skylights need a clean, could see moss growing on the glass. The whole place needed a good airing on arrival.
- Tamaris (8/5): A great base, in a fantastic location. - This sweet house is in a brilliant location, very handy for all the main sights and museums of Bruges. It also has a small supermarket nearby. There is a fine, large hall, a generous living room and master bedroom, nice big windows and a fantastic loft room. The house was very welcoming on arrival, with excellent quality bed linen and good towels. There are plenty of plug sockets and a handy downstairs (courtyard) toilet in addition to the main bathroom upstairs. The kitchen was compact but functional and basic cleaning supplies were easy to find and use. There was clear, useful information provided about facilities inside the house and nearby. The host was courteous and available via message, to answer our questions. We had a lovely stay with no regrets at all, but note that this is an old house, so has some quirks. It is quite different from a hotel.
- Tim (8/5): A lovely, comfortable, central stay but be aware of check in charges - The quirky premises
The proximity to the centre
Spacious A few things need a bit of TLC but it added to the ambience
Didn't know you have to pay a deposit and a non-refundable €7 to use the check in platform
- Bernard (9/5): Great place to spend time and enjoy what Brugge has to offer. Downstairs living area was great to come together s as a f - Location. Size. Facilities. All good for our family of 5. Not related to the property but Brugge in general has some odour challenges.
- Erik (7/5): Good - Location is excellent and communication with host was very good The house needs some TLC. And some rooms smelled bad (assume it is caused by the canal behind the house). Little extras like bar soap, face towels, sheets for the pull out couch were missing.
- Michelle (8/5): Great house close to the centre of Bruges - Fantastic location very close to the historic centre and Christmas markets but in a quiet side street. Clean and comfortable. We liked everything. Nothing bad to say.
- Josh (10/5): Superb location , Beautiful city home - The location was superb , spacious and lovely inside . Key coded door so no need to worry about staying with friends . Host was superb with information needed .
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Noel (7/5): Wonderfull and cozy place to stay - good location
quietness mosquitoes in the room
cold rooms
difficult to use bath - very slow running water
- Pete (10/5): Perfect option for large groups who want to stay in a good location for a reasonable price - Great location and reasonable price Easier to use thermostat. The instructions did not help
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Location, linens, cleanliness
- Elaine (10/5): Perfect - Perfect location
Comfortable beds All good
- Felicity (10/5): Great accommodation. Friendly host. Amazing location. Perfect for a weekend in Bruges with friends. - Great location. Had everything we needed for the 6 of us once we worked out a bathroom plan. Great communal space for catch ups, sit downs and card playing. Only request would be more pillows. So easy to navigate from the train station to all of Brugges on foot. The only issue would be trying to creep through the bunk bed room to get to the bathroom in the night was a challenge.
- Laurence (5/5): Passable - Location is excellent - central, directions given very good.
The actual 'hygiene' element of cleaning was fine - beds fresh, bathroom clean etc.
Kitchen had appropriate equipment and basics like salt/pepper etc present. Whole property needs repainting and a LOT of work. Our particular problem was that the stairs +++ noisy and lower two steps felt loose, as did another step. Bannister loose. Therefore really didn't feel safe at points.
Decors out of the 1980s. Lots of peeling paint etc gave impression of a dirty house, even though actual cleanliness of kitchen etc was fine.
One other major issue .... This property uses an entity called "Superhog" to confirm identity of bookers and administer deposits. The listing does NOT mention this company by name. The company even charges £7 to confirm identity!! This is effectively an off platform fee and as such unacceptable.
I wasted 30 or so minutes online trying to be certain this company was legitimate after it emailed me, having already paid the (non refundable) booking for the house. I had never heard of it, despite having repteadly booked holiday accommodation in many countries with no issue.
Either way the listing needs to be much more specific than it currently is about this, or booking.com need to sort out a better way to protect hosts (interestingly I have never had a host on airbnb ask me to do this, as I assume the platform protects them better).
- Jo (10/5): Exceptional - Location was fantastic. So close to shops, restaurants and parks. 15 minute walk from train station. Two toilets and room enough for 6 people. Nothing comes to mind.
- Janet (9/5): Superb - Fantastic location, great information from host, lovely living space and comfortable bed. Lock in second toilet requires attention, hall stairs need looking at.
- Andrea (9/5): great location, great facilities, awesome stay - the location and ample room
- Nelli (10/5): The vacation was amazing. Everything you need for a vacation with friends! - We all loved this house so much! Three floors, great guest room, lovely beds and a wonderful kitchen. I love homes with unusual room layouts and this home exceeded my expectations. We will come again! The rollovers were pretty dusty. But that is the only remark.
- Gale (5/5): Amazing Location - Property issues need resolving however - The property location is fantastic in that you step out of the front door and you are in central Bruges. It is a great location to visit the sights of the city and the street is quiet. If a central location is important to you then this property works very well. Unfortunately, it does however come with a few issues. The sewage smell mentioned by other guests was very bad in the main bedroom. I think it is a street issue as opposed to just a property issue as we noticed the smell in the street each day. The boiler had a service warning notification meaning we had to reset it every couple of hours to keep the heating on and though the owner came out to look at it he never followed it up with us. The house is very dated though could be amazing with a little TLC. The 2 double beds are comfy however the bunk beds squeak constantly. Also, the smoke alarm was flashing red and needs investigating. Many of these issues have been previously raised by other guests though clearly have not been dealt with. Make sure you ask if they have been resolved before booking if they are likely to irritate you! If they have then you'll have a great stay.
- Lora (2/5): Very poor - Where it was Dust, wobbly chairs and table, boiler that wouldn’t stay on so was cold. Rather outdated inside as well.
- Emma (8/5): Very good -
- Adam (9/5): Great place to stay for a family and close to everything. - Amazing property full of character. Great location central to main square. Friendly host and highly recommended. Nothing
- Christopher (9/5): Superb - Great location on a quiet street but right in the mixer. Lack of shower curtain was our only grumble.
- Kris (7/5): Good - Great location in the town to shops and restaurants in close proximity to the church of our lady and minniwater. Big house for all 6 of us and the bed were quite comfy. We had an oven and an outdoor toilet. Was good to have everything to hand. Unfortunately as we have younger kids and we didn't want to take them to bars till late and they was happy after a long day walking and sightseeing we wanted to have tea and be in of an evening and with it bosting a digital TV we was happy to but that didn't work and the dvds was for toddler's and no no English dvds. We told our host but nothing was done till after our stay. We had to spend lot of money on dvds. The main bedroom smells of drain water which smells like poo basically. Not the best for a good night's sleep. The radiator in the main room doesn't connect to the boiler so doesn't work.
- Hannah (9/5): Lovely Accommodation in Bruges - Excellent central location, on a charming quiet street. It is a sweet house with everything we needed. Clean and comfortable, and as described. The only shortfall was not having a shower curtain or partition to stop the floor getting very wet when showering. Luckily lots of towels were provided so this wasn't a big issue.
- Caroline (8/5): The location was amazing - so close to the centre of Bruges. - The location was amazing - so close to the centre of Bruges.
- Shannon (10/5): We had a great time in Bruges and loved this spot. Easy access to all of the sights, great restaurants, and shopping. - Great location; clean; comfortable beds; charming
- Darren (10/5): Perfect location for a Bruges getaway! - Clean and comfortable. It is an older apartment but it had everything we needed, was quiet and was exactly how it was described. Communication with the owner was good. The best thing about this apartment was the location - literally over the bridge from the main old town. Was perfect!
- Evans (4/5): A Nightmare In A Great Location! - The location can not be beat! The second bathroom is an outhouse on what is considered the terrace, the staircase banister is loose at the bottom of the staircase, the first level floor is not level, and it is not clean. Bugs in the beds and cobwebs/spiders have not been clean for some time.
- Catherine (7/5): Great location for exploring beautiful Brugge. - fantastic location. thorough guide to the property provided prior to arriving. Close to safe, long stay car parking. kitchen was small but it didn't matter to our stay
- Martin (7/5): A nice base for a visit to Brugge. - The location was excellent. We could have had more contact with the hosts.
- Philip (7/5): Great location, but could do better. - Great location. Could have been a bit cleaner. Double bed on 1st floor very uncomfortable
- Pablo (10/5): Amazing weekend - Location is perfect. Very clean, comfortable beds, heating was really good. The view from the attic is amazing. nothing
- Wasfee (7/5): Comfortable and managed to do everything we wanted to do - location for centre and station
warm squeaky stairs and bunk beds
not enough mugs and need large mugs
- Sitske (9/5): Great base, bang in the centre of Bruges. - The house is great, an old, yet very clean, house. The location in a quite street very near to the centre is perfect.
All the amenities were there, beds were good/excellent, kitchen was fine, decent utensils, pots, pans etc. The view from the top floor/loft is absolutely stunning.
Door code instead of a key makes entering & leaving by parts of the group so much simpler.
Downstairs toilet was in an outhouse, quite charming (And an amusing history lesson for our kid). In practice the toilet upstairs is more usable in the colder seasons, so we consider this more of a nice quirk than a downside of the house.
Nice and very responsive hosts. No disadvantage, but a heed of warning for those travelling by car: It is possible to drop your stuff on arrival, but do yourself and the city a favour by parking away from the city centre.
- Ute (7/5): Fairly basic house in a great location - Great location!!!
Spacious rooms!
Clean! A few snags:
TV reception did not work.
Dangerous and dirty shower curtain(was held up with string.
The thermostats to radiators did not work: too hot.
Loose kitchen tap and towel rail in bathroom.
No dust pan and brush.
- Tuffic (6/5): Pleasant - Location Only one bathroom. No air conditioning. A lot of mosquitos.
