- DONNA-MAREE (8/5): - Quiet but convenient location.
- Madz (1/5): DO NOT STAY HERE — unhygienic property and extremely distressing behaviour from the owner. - Nice location. DO NOT STAY HERE — unhygienic property and extremely distressing behaviour from the owner.
I’ve never had an experience like this. Our family holiday was ruined by both the state of the accommodation and the conduct of the host.
When we arrived, the house was not hygienically cleaned — including pubic hair in the shower, which I photographed with timestamps and showed to booking.com. It honestly seems like the owner suddenly realised, after her housekeeper left, that the property hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time. She even admitted this to us — and yet still took money from our security deposit.
We left the house tidy, with only four dishes in the sink, but the host later made false and extreme claims about the condition of the property. She said we had used linen we never touched and claimed there were stains, which strongly suggests the linen — like the bathroom — was already unclean and simply blamed on us.
Despite having no evidence of any damage, she deducted $150 from our security deposit and became aggressive and inappropriate in subsequent calls and messages, including swearing and attempting to pressure us into leaving a positive review.
Booking.com has been wonderful throughout this process and has already begun the steps to recover the security deposit, but the time, stress, and energy spent dealing with this situation have been horrible.
This experience has made it very clear that the owner should not be running a hospitality business. I strongly recommend avoiding this property.
- Andrew (8/5): A great self-contained and well-appointed cottage, perfectly located for exploring Kyneton and the Macedon Ranges area. - Great location, very handy to the centre of Kyneton and a short drive down the freeway to Woodend where we were attending the annual Winter Arts Festival. The wood stove kept the place nice and warm on a cold and wet weekend! The limited window coverings on the north side meant that sleeping in was not an option. I can imagine this would be more annoying in summer.
- Cole (9/5): Wonderful. - Location was fabulous.
Would have loved a coffee machine. The cooking facilities. Although the restaurants were so beautiful that we decided not to cook. If you were staying for a few days an oven and coffee machine would be great. Loved that we could bring our dogs with us. Glad that the chickens were quiet.. Didn't even know they were there. We were worried our dogs would bark at them.
- Ute (10/5): Beautiful set up little cottage, clean and had all necessities provided. Loved my stay. - Breakfast was ok. Muesli, milk and apples provided.
Location was in a quiet street only a short walk to Piper Street.
