Cute walk in pantry, delicious and very generous breakfast pack (thanks!), laundry and washing line - the old copper was gorgeous, and a short walk into the township. Handy location for night walks to view all the heritage homes in the surrounds.

- Amie (10/5): A perfect cosy retreat in a great location! - Our stay was absolutely fantastic, and we can't recommend this place enough!
The location was unbeatable, it was perfectly situated for everything we wanted to do. The home itself was incredibly cosy, making it the ideal retreat after a day of exploring.
The fireplace was a highlight and made the evenings and early mornings so warm and relaxing. We also have to give a special shout-out to the shower - it was simply sublime!
On top of all that, the host's communication was excellent from start to finish. They were so responsive and helpful. The lovely personalised touches they added including local tips and a food basket made us feel truly cared for and were a testament to their genuine hospitality. Thank you for a perfect stay! Nothing
- anonymous (9/5): - Fireplace, delicious welcome pack, comfy bed and easy walk to town

- Grant (10/5): Awesome place - Great location. Clean and tidy warm and inviting
- Creevey (10/5): Thanks Donnelly House Tenterfield! - Donnelly House was very comfortable supplying everything we needed for a great stay. Firstly our host Danni was friendly and helpful informing us of all we needed to know. Much appreciated! There was an excellent supply of firewood including kindling to keep us warm in the very cosy little lounge room. Also aircondioners and heaters were available for use in other parts of the house. We loved the basket of fresh breakfast goodies included. That was a real treat! The house was located in easy walking distance of the main street shops and tourist sights allowing us to stroll around the township at our leisure. Happy with everything really. We were aware of some road noise at night with trucks coming past as we were on the main street through town. It didn't worry us though.
- Alan (9/5): A very enjoyable 2 night stay which we would book again if staying in Tenterfield. - The house was well positioned in that it was within walking distance to the shopping and restaurant precinct.
The house was clean, tidy and roomy with a working fireplace, full kitchen facilities with a welcome food basket, and car parking within the grounds available. The toilet was accessed via the bathroom so some of our party were reticent to use it when others were showering.
- Daryl (10/5): We had a wonderful time. The cottage is cosy, homely, and tasteful, we love it! - We love everything about Donnelly House. It is always a charming place to stay when we visit Tenterfield. Nothing to improve.
- Colin (8/5): Very good - Comfortable.
- Anonymous (10/5): Highly recommended! - A lovely home. We were warm, even though it was cold outside. Everything was clean and beautifully presented. We were delighted to find a gourmet breakfast pack waiting for us in the fridge! This property is a close, easy walk to the main town centre, cafes, hotels and restaurants. N/A
- Clare (8/5): Good Tenterfield stay, excellent host. - The house is furnished with comfortable beds, lounges, kitchen table and linen is excellent. Multiple indoor and outdoor sitting areas. Breakfast food was kindly provided by Danni and there was well stocked pantry as well as cleaning appliances. Indoor fire, lots of firewood and aircon was great. TV and net flicks worked perfectly. House is easy to find and parking great. Bathroom very functional with excellent towels, soap, shampoo and face washers. Easy walking distance to main street shops and the beautiful parklands. Excellent and helpful communication with Danni who offered flexible about check out time. Only concern we had was the noise of trucks at night. First night we had significant difficulty sleeping , less so night 2 and no doubt one would become accustomed to this over a few nights.
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Russel (9/5): Comfortable cottage in good location - Cosy cottage - well equipped and very comfortable. Good location with off-street, undercover parking. Kitchen welcome amenities good. Shower in bath and moveable screen does not stop water from getting on floor.
- Susan (8/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our short break at Donnelly House, seeing the colours of autumn and enjoying the cooler temperatur - A lovely old home with enclosed verandah, pots of herbs at the back door, and a fireplace that warmed us through the night. We found it an easy walk into town to enjoy some shopping and then again at night for dinner, a delicious meal at the Commercial Hotel. For light sleepers, the trucks passing through town were noticeable, but on the whole we had a very enjoyable stay.
- Ross (9/5): Very comfortable - Very comfortable - the layout of the home was a little “quirky” though and having frosted glass windows limited the “viewing” out into the yard/exterior of the property. Beds very comfortable and all conveniences of home are available. Thank you for providing extras like condiments, a fridge full of goodies for our use should we choose to use them (milk, butter, eggs, bread) - and an undercover carport. Great having a fireplace in cooler weather with timber etc provided. Probably the road noise at peak times. Sadly it fronts Rouse St - which also doubles as the New England Highway. Owner might also consider fixing the “handle” on the fireplace door as it becomes quite hot - I don’t know the terminology but there is a little extra bit attached to the actual handle that dissipates the heat when opening the fireplace door and doesn’t burn your hand/fingers.
- Peter (7/5): Good - The provisions were fine
- Kylie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristy (9/5): Excellent stay and a wonderful host. - Very comfortable place to stay in a good location within walking distance into the town and also close to the nearby park which was very picturesque. The fridge was stocked with breakfast items for our stay and lots of firewood was provided for the fireplace. The host was fantastic to communicate with and very accommodating. Highly recommended!
- Kym (10/5): Spacious house with everything you need - Great sized house with everything you need.
Lovely addition is the breakfast left in the fridge, very handy when you have been travelling for a while.
Bed was super comfortable and location is good. It is on a busy street but noise dies down around 10pm, so didn’t really interrupt our sleep.
- Anne-marie (10/5): We had a fabulous 4 night stay at Donnelly House. Celebrated a family reunion and attended ANZAC Day services - Lovely rustic home with every comfort close to town centre. Beds were very comfortable. Airconditioned but fire place was a welcome option and great room for us to get-together. Kitchen was well stocked with eggs, milk, bread, coffee machine, tea, butter and other complimentary items. Bathroom well stocked. Linen was fresh and clean. Great backyard for our little Jack Russell Cross. Parking on site for more than one vehicle. Absolutely nothing to dislike
- K (9/5): Superb -
- Bielby (10/5): This stay was fabulous. We had everything we needed and the host's communication was excellent. - Everything. Host is amazing and the property wonderful. Very cozy home. Close to everything. Fridge was stocked with items for breakfast. Was like being at home! Nothing
- Dennis (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and it was very clean. Will definitely go back there if the opportunity arises.
- Vicki (10/5): Bellissimo - Absolutely loved our short stay here. Thank you so much for the wonderful goodies left in the fridge. Really appreciated the fireplace too…so cosy 😊
- Jerzy (9/5): Superb -
- Annette (9/5): Lovely character home which was very comfortable and in a great location. - The only thing that was annoying was the gate. It was heavy and difficult to open and close.
- Roberts (7/5): Good - I liked its original build updated with good taste. Has a bath
- Matilda (10/5): Comfortable, convenient and good location. - The start up food supplied was super. Especially given we arrived from Gold Coast ex cyclone with limited supplies. Lovely location, close to all services. Nothing to note.
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Anne (8/5): Lovely Stay in Tenterfield - It was lovely to have breakfast there for us, including eggs, as well as bread and lots of spreads. Cereal as well. Felt like lovely country hospitality.
- Frank (10/5): Large house, great service - I would give the owner, Danni, a 7 out of 5 for service. Fast responses. Especially helpful with travel info. For example, we asked which Gardens in Tenterfield were open for us to see while we were there, and she got us answers.
Large house. Only negative is house is on a highway, but highway was mostly quiet by bedtime.
- Rhonda (10/5): Very cosy. - Everything.
The house had everything you could possibly want. Would have loved a dishwasher
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (10/5): A Cozy Gem in Tenterfield - I recently stayed at a charming little cottage in Tenterfield, and it was a delightful experience. The cottage perfectly blends rustic charm with modern comforts, making it feel like a true home away from home.
The interior is cozy and well-appointed, with a comfortable living area and a fully equipped kitchen. The bedroom offers a restful retreat, and waking up to the serene sounds of nature was a treat.
The location is ideal for exploring Tenterfield, and the hosts were welcoming and helpful with local tips.
Overall, this cottage is a perfect escape for anyone seeking peace and tranquility. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning!
- Jane (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (8/5): We were happy overall with the house and communication. Been close to town was great, been close to the main road, not s - stylish, quirky, breakfast provisions, comfortable beds road noise, no dish cloth so cleaning the kitchen was tricky.
- Stuart (8/5): Very good -
- Sonia (9/5): Superb -
- Joan (9/5): We had a lovely overnight stay. - Very clean, very comfortable beds, everything provided that we needed, easy to access, quite roomy, tastefully decorated, and clearly much thought has been put into it.
- Norah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Petria (9/5): Gorgeous cottage. Very comfy beds. Beautifully styled. Well stocked kitchen. We'll return! -
- Garnett (8/5): Lovely cottage with great host and amenities, walking distance to town. - Lovely cottage with everything you could possibly need for a great stay. Comfortable bed and very clean - lovely birds in the garden in the morning and lots of seating areas. The trucks woke me up a few times at night - and the light curtains meant I was up at 5 - such a shame because otherwise this is a great stay.
- Sylvie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ai (9/5): Superb - This cottage is much cleaner than my previous accommodation experience in Tenterfield. The lighting indoors and outdoors is excellent, the bed is very comfortable, and the host, Danni, is very friendly and helpful in recommending tourist spots and restaurants around Tenterfield. It was a wonderful travel experience.
- Walter (7/5): I would recommend it to our friends to stay. Host very nice to deal with - It was OK Didn't need more No dish washer & a good washing machine. Air conditioning in the bedroom.
But still a nice place to stay
- Paula (9/5): Superb - Wonderful house in the main street.
Communication from host was wonderful.
The house had everything we needed.
Rooms were a great size and really comfortable.
The little extra touches (milk, eggs, etc) were lovely.
- Jay (8/5): A very comfortable and spacious cottage in a good location. - Generous breakfast provided. The fireplace was a special bonus.
- Belinda (7/5): Good -
- Wittleton (9/5): Superb -
- Billinm (10/5): Gorgeous, clean cottage with everything you need for a short stay or a long stay!!! - The host provided absolutely everything you needed for the stay. The fridge was full of fresh eggs, milk, cereal, butter, bread, condiments and the kitchen was great. The bathroom was modern and again everything provided. Beds were comfy and the house was so clean. This place was just lovely. Only minor thing and I mean minor was sometimes the trucks passing on the road was a little loud. But we would definitely stay again so it wasn't that bad. Other than that I can't think of a single thing that wasn't excellent.
- Ryan (10/5): Perfect! - lovely little house close to everything you need and we felt right at home!
- Cate (10/5): Exceptional - Great house, good location, very well appointed.

- John (9/5): Superb -
- Colleen (9/5): This is a very comfortable place to stay. -
- Jennifer (8/5): A comfortable stay in an interesting old building - We stayed one night on our road trip through Tenterfield. The building was quirky, but clean and well set out. We were very comfortable, and enjoyed the log fire. It kept us warm after stoking it just once during the wee hours. It was handy to park at the rear of the property, and the road noise didn’t bother us. A previous guest had cooked fish in the kitchen and the smell hung about.
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fiona (9/5): Superb -
- Rose (10/5): Only 1 night but could imagine staying here longer. Lovely property with ex everything you could want. - The property was very well equipped, had loads of character, centrally located and very warm and comfortable. We thought it might be noisy on Rouse St but certainly didn’t bother us.
- Rodney (8/5): Very good - The fireplace was great and good stock of wood. Make sure you get it going as the nights here are fresh.
The TV is modern with plenty of options including a paid netflix, how good.
Eggs and bread in the fridge for cooking up some brekki
Great communication from the owner who was very friendly on the phone.
- Darren (8/5): Well located in Main Street of Tenterfield - Danni , made it easy , great little house , we had everything we needed, Trucks driving past using there air brakes in the early morning hours
- Beverley (9/5): Comfortable - Breakfast provisions provided. Owner easily contacted. Good location. Comfortable bed. Well stocked wood fire. Washing machine. Off road parking Heavier curtains for the windows and glass door would keep out the cold better than the existing sheer curtains
- Judith (9/5): Personalized clean charming cottage, with home comforts, regretted only one night stay. - Breakfast supplies were generous. All that was needed. Very cold conditions - outside host’s control- but adequate heating provided in all rooms except bathroom and kitchen. Good supply of wood for fireplace was appreciated.
- Shirlee (7/5): Good -
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerry (10/5): Central to town, Comfortable, warm and cosy. A tranquil atmosphere provided by thoughtful and generous hosts. - Central location. Very quirky, but exceptionally comfortable home. If weather had been warmer we would have loved to spend time in the covered verandah. Provisions supplied were above and beyond - never experienced such generosity. Wood heater kept us warm and cosy. Initially no hot water but quickly remedied. Previous guest may have accidentally tripped the hot water fuse at the meter box.
- Varinia (10/5): Exceptional -

- Stephanie (9/5): We had a fantastic stay! Great place to explore Tenterfield & surrounds. - Lovely to have the fire place & breakfast options left for us. Super comfortable beds, clean & everything you need. Great communication. It was a little noisy being on road in/out of town.

- Jennifer (8/5): Very good - Communication with Danni, the place is comfortable, lovely fireplace and central location. The shower may be a challenge for some
- Tracy (9/5): Superb - We were very pleased and appreciative to see all the lovely breakfast options provided for our stay. It was very homely and we had all the creature comforts of home. Danni also sent me a text with extra info about places to eat and recommendations which was wonderful to receive. The only thing we probably needed was an instruction guide for how to light and operate the fireplace as I am a novice and not overly confident with things like that.
- Debra (8/5): Very good - Location was within walking distance to main town area
- Aleisha (9/5): A beautiful weekend away. - It was cosy & warm. The fire place was lovely. The location was great. Easy walk to everything.
