Guest Reviews
- Hannah (9/5): The hosts and view were amazing can’t wait to come stay again - The view is absolutely stunning also love the hot tub, shower and big bbq. Overall super cute little cottage The bed mattress isn’t my kind of firmness it is a tad hard but that’s more of a personal preference over a not like but aside from that nothing wrong outside of things that can’t be helped
- Yevhen (10/5): -
- Ross Ven (8/5): - Hot tub was not on. Had to wait for several hours just to get it comfotably warm
- Stacey (10/5): -
- Hannah (10/5): Perfect location for a weekend getaway - It was gorgeous. Easy check in and the lake was a perfect getaway for two. The hot tub was easy to figure out and a perfect way to warm up after our hike nearby. The hosts also cleared us a path to the driveway after the snow storm during our stay which we really appreciated. Absolutely recommend Leland’s Lakehouse for anyone looking for a cabin with lots of privacy and a great view of the lake. We were a bit chilly but that was no fault of the hosts! There was a big snow storm and it took us a while to figure out the heater lol
- Jason (10/5): We had a great winter weekend getaway, relaxing by the wood stove - Perfect weekend get away
- Sandra (9/5): Wonderful - All was great and very relaxing. Very quiet and peaceful. Host was extremely accommodating and pleasant The bed in the bedroom was extremely comfortable but as older people traveling especially someone that is over 6’2” the bed was almost impossible to get out of. It is extremely low to the floor and very difficult to get out of.
- Rosaline (10/5): - Hot tub and views were incredible
- Byron (8/5): Great spot. Dishes were our only issue where the plastic have deep scratches that can stay contaminated - As advertised Plastic dishes. Suggest having glass so it can be cleaned fully
- Deborah (9/5): -
- Alexandra (10/5): -
- Paula (1/5): Diappointing - Curtains on windows , end tables, water pressure was non existent on our last day. We could not shower. It was not at all what we expected. I would not recommend.
- Kathleen (10/5): Lovely cabin close to Wolfville attractions - This is a great little spot for anyone who would like a lakeside stay- yet close enough to explore all of the wineries surrounding Wolfville. (Only a 10 - 15 minute drive )
It was nice to have a full kitchen and open living area as well as modern bathroom and very comfy sleeping quarters. This place is perfect for a couple. They’ve done a lovely renovation of the cabin. All good
- ashley (4/5): This place needs a deep clean and some rodent traps desperately. - The cottage was very cute and the location was stunning and peaceful. There was an unbelievable amount of rodent feces in the utensil drawers, in the pots, on all of the dishes and on the counter. We had to leave and take a 40 minute drive to buy disposable dishes. There were mice running around inside as soon as the sun went down. The couch was filthy and stained and the hot tub was also incredibly filthy. There are also no window coverings in any of the windows. You would think the bedroom at least would have curtains.
- Jeff (10/5): Oasis with everything - We were very picky to get this place last min and was so easy tot check in . Used the hot tub and relaxed and watched the sun set . Could use a bit more mowing around the warf but that isn’t a big deal makes it feel like nature .
- Brianna (10/5): - The frog symphony in the evening. Private, well kept. It was all good.
- Penny (10/5): - The peaceful location, the lovely hot tub. The access for a swim via the plastic sheet.
- Helene (9/5): Great haven to relax after a busy day, - Beautiful and peaceful location. Rustic cottage with a modern touch. Tableware could be improved, preferably microwave safe.
- Janet (10/5): Peaceful and quiet. - So nice and quiet. Great property so charming. Neat as a pin. Comfy cozy the ambiance rates a 10. A hidden gem for sure. Also a momma duck and her 6 babies came to welcome us, just an added little bonus. ☺️ Thank you so much.
- Susan (10/5): Fantastic lake front vacation. - The lake was beautiful! Internet and tv options were fantastic. Hot tub as promised. The furniture although clean and cute was hard to get comfortable in.
- Dina (9/5): Superb -
- Reilly (6/5): Pleasant - We loved the location of this cottage. It is a very cute property right on a lake, the deck and hot tub were nice as well. The inside was somewhat modern and open, it was small but a perfect size in my opinion. The cottage didn't seem very insulated. We had the heat pump at 29 degrees celsius, however it did not get warm without a fire in the wood stove. When we woke up in the mornings we were very very cold. The fridge seal seemed to be broken, as it didn't keep our food very cold. We also could not figure out the hot tub on the first night, however we did figure it out on the second night. It took over 10 hours to heat up. The property also has a composting toilet, which is basically an indoor outhouse. The smell didn't linger if you kept the bathroom door shut, but the bathroom smell was extremely unpleasant. The coffee pot was broken which we weren't aware of, and we messaged the host about some of our concerns but didn't hear back until after our stay was over.
- Samuel (9/5): Superb -
- Heather (8/5): Very good - Very private, spacious spot. Lots to enjoy on the property. There hot tub was a bit dirty, didn't deter from using but made me wonder about the cleaning schedule, especially for the cleaning fee attached to the property.
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Victoria (9/5): Relaxing Fall Get Away - A very relaxing spot for a fall adventure. We were supplied with everything we needed to cook & host for a girls night. Communication with the hosts was wonderful as well and the cottage was super easy to locate and check in / out :) Unfortunately the hot tub was not working when we stayed, but that wont stop us from booking again!
- Andreas (9/5): Beautiful lakeside retreat! - This house is perfectly located right by the lake, offering stunning views that are truly breathtaking. The hot tub was a wonderful addition, providing a great opportunity to relax and unwind.
I highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful getaway! The house is lovely, but it felt a bit cramped for four adults. Considering the relatively high price, I believe firewood should be included in the cost.
Overall, it was a nice stay, but some adjustments would improve the experience!
- Erica (8/5): Relaxing place on the lake! - Loved the location and the boys loved the hot tub! Definitely the compostable toilet. Awful smell coming from it.
- Linda (4/5): Disapointing - The proximity to the lake 1. The state of the yard. There was an old chair fence panels, old lumber, and some general rubbish laying around.the black netting fence was down in places, which was an eye sore, and the jetty was broken down by the lake.
2. There were plastic plates and dishes which were sored with knives marked. Plastic drinking glasses were clouds with age.
Only 2 china mugs, one of which was cracked
Badly woren pots and pans
3. Water pressure was very low
4. The bathroom sink was ridiculously small. You could only wash your hand, not able to clean teeth.
5 height of composting toilet made it difficult to use.
6. The general appearance of the property inside and out was scruffy
- Tiffany (8/5): Cute cozy cabin, would be more likely to return if the bathroom was different, but overall nice stay. - Beautiful place, nice the lake is so close, love the cabin itself so cute and cozy. Not a fan of the toilet at all, the shower is big but lost pressure pretty quick. We’re quite sure we followed directions & were careful with the hot tub but the temp seemed to stay kind of low & then went down a degree or two. The outside light on the front door area didn’t work - wouldn’t have mattered but we arrived after dark.
- Jaime (8/5): Beautiful location. - Comfortable beds, clean, beautiful view, hot tub, outside eating area, hammock was great. Kitchen layout was good. First time encountering an eco-compost toilet. It was hard to get use to. Would have preferred a regular toilet. No room in bathroom to lay toiletries on, sink is hard to wash face in because of protruding mirror above.
- Wayne (9/5): Superb -
- Sally (7/5): Good -
- Judy (8/5): We wish we were able to stay longer. Very beautiful setting right on the lake - Beautiful location. Wish we had more time there. The directions to the property could be improved.
Kayaks would of been good to use on the lake.
- Bernadette (8/5): Very good -
- Marjorie (9/5): Superb - Beautiful little getaway
- Michaellam510 (9/5): Superb -
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Doug (7/5): Good - The location was excellent. Very relaxing. The hot tub was a great asset The overgrowth is becoming a problem around the Beach area, trees and bushes needs trimming back. The deck needs a skirt around it to stop pets and small children from going under. The half barrel used for the firepit is completely corroded and jagged. Needs replacing as it is a hazard. The privacy curtain, screen that separated the two properties needs to be put back up.
- Nicole (9/5): Superb -
- Steve (7/5): Good -
- Stephanie (10/5): Quaint - Off the beaten path, quiet and quaint. We couldn't get a late check out
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional - That it was off the beaten path.
- Bernadette (7/5): Good -
- Raggy (9/5): Superb -
- Debra (7/5): Peaceful setting - Setting was lovely and quiet. Cottage itself is nice.
Hot tub was wonderful (main reason for selecting this cottage). Composting toilet (I have a sensitivity to air fresheners, but was afraid to unplug it for fear of odour from toilet). Lack of some small details. Ie. Clothes hooks in bedroom; toiletry storage in bathroom; extra paper supplies(which were supplied upon request).
I took note of previous reviews about the composting toilet, but kept an open mind.
Essentially, it's an indoor outhouse.
- Darlene (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janette (9/5): Superb -
- Erika (9/5): Superb - Hot tub, closeness to lake, pretty place. Nothing
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
- Debbie (9/5): Superb -
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional - The location is beautiful, great escape into nature! These photos don't even come close to showing the beauty of this cottage and it's property. By far my favorite place I've stayed, most definitely will be back soon :) I should have booked longer, a day isn't even close to being enough time!
- Saoirse (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shelley (7/5): Nice place, great hostess, lovely girl, a few property things mentioned above would be an improvemen - N/a Grass growing on waterline, dog poop and dead fish at the water entrance
- Delaney (10/5): Quiet, peaceful, and sooo cozy - It was very quiet and peaceful. Exactly what we needed at that time. Many thanks to our hosts for being so accommodating and pleasant.
- Megan (10/5): A calming and scenic getaway that exemplifies the charm of the East Coast people, and natural beauty. - The property itself is absolutely beautiful, and exactly what you would want for a week(end) on the lake! We saw beavers, loons, deer, and so much more. But the most beautiful part of our stay was the amazing hosts Kit and Chesley. They are the true definition of Canadian community. Their hospitality and kindness towards us goes unmatched in all our travels. They saved us from a bad situation and managed to make an unexpected extension of our stay, the most memorable part of our road trip.
Would absolutely recommend a stay, and to immerse in the community they offer to share! Does not have moose…. Probably a good thing but a missed wildlife spotting
- Melvin (8/5): Beautiful location for a summer visit. - Location was great. No food supplied. Hot tub was great. Curtains needed. Odour from eco toilet. Heat pump setting was inadequate. Bedding was too thin for time of year.
- Jean-mari (10/5): We will be coming back again! We loved it. - The location was isolated from the town which was ok, it was a 15 minute drive to a grocery store which wasn’t a problem. We loved the views, comfort of the cottage, hot tub, fire pit, and hammock. The cottage was advertised as a queen bed but was a double. Which made it difficult to sleep with my 6’5 boyfriend.
- Desiree (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gardiner (9/5): Really relaxing time - Owners came and put a fire on so it was warming up when we arrived. Loved the decor. Hot tub was amazing - which is why we booked here. Loved the pull down TV and wifi access... a step stool would have been handy for us short people to pull it down. Bed was super comfy and bedding was great! Loved the hide a bed couch. View was so nice. Great little place to relax. Communication with owners was wonderful. The bathroom smelled. Not sure if composting toilet was too full or if its always smelly. It was too cold for the heatpump to keep up, and the wood stove hadn't been cleaned prior to check in. No bucket left to scoop it ourselves, kept us from putting large peices of wood in. Didn't want to interrupt our limited time to get the owners out to deal with these things, and wish they had of been done prior to check in time at 3pm. I get anxiety from complaining. Coverings for windows would be nice, at least in the bedroom.
