• Lisa (10/5): Magical Stay At Casa Mia Suite - This place was exquisite. I felt like I was in my own private cloud forest. The grounds are beautiful and meticulously kept. The Casa Mia Suite is tastefully decorated, had everything we needed to cook and create our own dishes here and just enjoy the serenity. The bed and linens were heavenly. This was the best place of our 3 week trip to Costa Rica. The washer and dryer in the unit was very helpful and appreciated. I indulged in the jacuzzi tub and appreciated the bath oil. Juana and Oscar are on the property and are warm, lovely people. They even left homemade bread and jam for us. We met Vicente the property caretaker whose family lives on the property and he was lovely as well. The expansive property has two trails that are well marked for you to enjoy. We saw butterflies, birds and other mammals during our walks. The trails are marked and maintained very well. There are ponds with chairs to sit in and enjoy the nature that surrounds you. We took advantage of that every day. We were here a total of 5 nights and loved every second. The property is perfectly located and is 10 minutes from the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve, Selvatura Park and 12 minutes from Santa Elena, where we enjoyed a meal at The Open Kitchen. We did venture to Monte Verde to the Cafe Colibri (The Hummingbird Cafe) to enjoy a cup of coffee and enjoy all the hummingbirds. Even that was only a 20 minute drive. The roads are bumpy and unpaved in some areas. We read that the road to get to the property was difficult but we didn’t think so. It is a single lane gravel road that was not difficult to manage, just drive slow. We used Waze to get to the property and found it was the most accurate and best way to get around Costa Rica. Juana sent me the property directions to use on google map and on Waze so I had my choice. The roads are not marked well or often not at all, so watching the app to see where to turn was very helpful. Nothing. Loved it all.

• Daniela (9/5): Traumhaus mitten in der Natur. Ideal für Aktivitäten wie Ziplining etc. - Tolles Haus mit großen Fenstern mit Blick in die Natur. Man hat sich regelmäßig erkundigt ob alles ok ist. Hatten ein Toastbrot und Marmelade hingestellt bekommen und tolle Hortensienblüten Es wird nachts doch sehr frisch und klamm. Ein zweiter Heizlüfter wäre schön Hatten Hoffnung dort mehr Tiere zu sehen. Aber da hat die Unterkunft ja kein Verschulden

Nous avons passé 4 jours dans cette maison et tout était parfait. L’emplacement est idéal : assez isolé pour profiter du calme et de la nature, tout en restant proche de Monteverde. Un énorme coup de cœur pour les sentiers de trail directement accessibles depuis la maison — très bien balisés, magnifiques et super pratiques pour partir explorer sans même prendre la voiture. L’intérieur est tout simplement superbe : une décoration très stylée, un mobilier choisi avec goût, et une ambiance chaleureuse où l’on se sent immédiatement bien. Tout est pensé dans les moindres détails, avec absolument toutes les commodités nécessaires pour un séjour confortable. On recommande à 100 % — un endroit unique où l’on reviendra sans hésiter ! Rien

• Loretta (10/5): A lovely spot to rest and explore - We stayed at Casa Mia for our first few days in Costa Rica. The home is well made and spacious with a comfortable bed, great windows, outdoor seating, and a nicely landscaped area and views to enjoy. It was also no more than 20 minutes from anywhere we wanted to go. We found snacks waiting for us, which was great because we were too tired to find a market. And Oscar stopped by to make sure we were doing ok and told us about a local trail. Birders: There is good birding at Casa Mia. The foliage is thick, so I didn't see or ID everything, but we enjoyed watching (and hearing) the Montezuma O birds building their pendulous nests. I found a couple Lesson's mot mots, blue-grey tanagers, both types of guan, pretty local sparrows, local thrush, and doves. And I heard a lot more than I could find. It was perfect entertainment for me while my partner recovered from our travel day. (If you are looking for excellent birding, go to Curi Cancha. We went on our own and had a great time and saw some cool birds and mammals, but FYI, we saw a fraction of what the groups with local guides saw.) Thanks for your hospitality, Oscar and Juana! We wish we had stayed another couple days. Perhaps on our next trip! We liked everything, the place was perfect for us on our short stay. We were glad that we had rented a 4 wheel drive with high clearance for getting around Monteverde and it was helpful getting to Casa Mia. The kitchen area was small but immaculate and worked great for snacks and morning tea/coffee. We did have a heavy rain the night before we left, and it was noisy as others have mentioned. We didn't mind it, and really loved the sound of lighter rain on the roof. A heads up, on our way back to Casa Mia for the day, Google maps rerouted us twice to some adventure park. Strange!
• Shawna (10/5): - Wonderful and beautiful house just on outskirts of town with amazing views! Two lovely suites with their own bathrooms, a full kitchen, and large family room area. There is a hiking trail and lots to do and see just a short hop away.
• Melody (9/5): Absolutely incredible! Will return when possible - The property is stunning. The house was beautiful, well built, and has everything you need. The bed is so comfortable. The kitchen was fully functional. We bought fruit and eggs from the store in town & made breakfast and smoothies every morning. The property has incredible hiking trails with amazing views and birds! I loved everything. Things to keep in mind I wish I had known: It can get chilly at night. There’s no heater so bring plenty of layers and warm cozy socks. Bring a pair of house shoes to wear inside as everything can be wet and muddy at times outside so you’ll want to leave it all on the step outside. Plan to rent a car because the location is far from town. (Which we loved about it)

It was a beautifully designed and curated home with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We enjoyed the expansive view of the cloud forest and spotting birds from the wall of windows. We hiked the trails on the property and took in all the sounds and smells of the forest. This property is very peaceful and it is a wonderful place to rejuvenate. Thank you to Juana and Oscar for their quick response when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the house. The homemade bread that they left for us in the house was delicious. We highly recommend this property!
• Lee (10/5): Gorgeous property with hiking trails and lots of birds. - This house is beautifully designed and appointed. It has a wonderful view and the owners have also made two walking trails that wind thru lovely woods and along a bubbling brook and is very well marked. The owners were very kind and left us coffee, bread and jam to enjoy for breakfast. Very important to us was the number of birds moving around the variety of habitat on the property- tall trees teeming with Oropendulas etc, Keel-billed Toucans calling from various trees, many hummingbirds feeding on rows and rows of flowers and birds along the stream. Neoptropical migrants such as warblers etc were there as well. Good spot to stay for birders! I didn't have more time to enjoy it! The gorgeous wooden stairs although striking to look at, seem as if they could be a bit slippery so I hung onto the banister and metal bars. But I never actually slipped.

Casa Mia Suite was in a spectacular setting with a great loop walk right on the doorstep of its well maintained gardens. The owners were lovely and responded very quickly to any questions.

Don’t book this unless you have a car and are happy to be relatively remote (it’s 10 mins to the town). The owners were so welcoming and helpful but it’s the quality of the accommodation and gardens that blew us away, and the bread and eggs were a super surprise! The property was impeccably clean, and we adored the thoughtful interior design. A special thank you for the gorgeous bouquet of hydrangeas! We highly recommend staying here. Be sure to explore the trail right in front of the house — it's an easy walk and a great way to see even more animals! Nothing I can think of.

• Karen (10/5): Wonderful setting and amazing hosts - We had a wonderful few nights here visiting the Cloud Rainforest. It is in the most wonderful peaceful setting but also not too far to the town. It was my daughter’s birthday and Juana organised a cake for me and even dropped it to the house. She also recommended a lovely restaurant with the most amazing view to celebrate. We did the local walk from the house which was also great and right in the middle of the woods. There is everything you need in this beautiful house. The showers were powerful with wonderful smelling soaps and lotion! We really appreciated the bread and jams left for us too. Thank you Juana for a fantastic stay.

• Shira (9/5): Beautiful stay In a light filled home atop paradise! - Loved the beautiful one bedroom house! The windows had a beautiful view and let in beautiful light, the trail was wonderful, and the kitchen was well equipped with eggs and bread, as well as anything you need for cooking. The bathtub was a dream and it was only a short drive to town and other attractions. Thank you Juana for being so communicative! One small thing to note is that apparently there are rolling black outs in the Monteverde area where they turn off the power. It would be nice if the house was equipped with candles or chargeable lamps just in case as we were without power for several hours. Also, as many others have stated, be ready to drive through some tough roads. Worth it though!

The decor was lovely, the beds were very comfortable and the fresh flowers were special. I loved watching the trees move in the rain from the bedroom. The hiking trail was an added bonus. We felt completely alone in the trees. I would highly recommend this spot.

• Stephanus (10/5): Great wilderness - Great cliffside 2 story house overlooking a river and ranch area with some forest nearby. Modern accommodations, very comfortable and very large. The WiFi was intermittent (down during heavy rain storms). There is no cell service in the mountains, so with no WiFi there is no way to communicate with anyone, including the hosts.
• Id (10/5): Amazing Place Away From It All - Beautiful house, spacious, dead quiet location and surrounded by lush nature. There are a really long private hiking trail and nice gardens, so the place is a destination in itself. Santa Elena and Monteverde are wonderful as well and easily accessed. Based on the high location, a/c isn’t needed to lower temperature. However, humidity is high and we were greeted by a mildly unpleasant smell that came back the moment windows were closed.

Set amongst a beautiful backdrop of woodland, the floor to celiing wrap around windows in the bedroom give a 24/7 view of amazing scenery and make it super special... It was amazing to wake up to the singing of birds every morning and watch hummingbirds from the balcony over breakfast and watch fireflys in the trees at night. The house is light, airy, super comfortable and had everything we needed. Located just enough away from the main town to feel in nature and private, but close enough (5min drive) to access the town for whatever you need. We didn't want to leave this house and would absolutely recommend staying here. Nothing. It was just perfect.

• Hope (10/5): a truly unforgettable experience. can’t wait to return - photos do not do it justice. this place is absolutely stunning. the most magical location. juana and oscar are wonderful hosts. nothing!
• Erin (10/5): Exceptional - The house is beautiful. Well-appointed, clean, comfortable, and with amazing views. The garden is stunning. Perfect for bird watchers and we saw many animals and gorgeous birds. Close to downtown, but far enough away to have a quiet getaway away from the hustle. The owner left bread, eggs, and fresh flowers, which was a nice touch. Having wifi, a smart TV, and laundry on-site were also much appreciated amenities. Check in and out was easy, and the owner was attentive and responsive. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this home to anyone coming to Monteverde. The road leading to the house is quite difficult (unpaved) - be sure to have a vehicle with a high clearance (not a complaint, just a tip for other travelers). My only suggestion to the owner is that the screens do not sit tightly in the windows, leaving gaps and allowing the opportunity for mosquitos to get inside. We do wish the bedroom glass doors had screens as the breeze was lovely after a long day hiking!
• Andrea (10/5): Exceptional - This house was exactly what we were looking for. Fantastic surroundings and fully equipped. We were welcomed with coffee, eggs and a delicious bread as a welcome detail which we enjoyed for breakfast. Very nice bedrooms. A balcony with a breathtaking view. Highly recommended. We will definitely come back! Beautiful Place
