Guest Reviews
- Alan (10/5): Peaceful, we loved having no TV! - The feeling was that of being welcomed, yet much privacy was given to us from all aspects. The house offered all we needed within the obvious limitations of being an eco accommodation. We loved the silence all around us, especially at night time, and switching off from technology was very restorative.
Waking up with a cacophony of birds every morning was beautiful and, since being birds lovers, we absolutely enjoyed the variety and discovery of so many species. The forest all around merged in the most exquisite way with the carefully manicured garden which is cared for by the owner. There was absolutely nothing we did not like, we have no complaints.
- Jaimie (10/5): Peaceful getaway to enjoy the natural rainforest of the Daintree - Beautiful scenery and wildlife
- Hayley (10/5): Beautiful unique house in the fabulous forests. Perfect for a breakaway. - Absolutely beautiful house. In the perfect location. The house is so unique and just stunning inside. Close to eateries and very private. Not having locks on any of the outside doors. But obviously they dont need it. Just made us feel a bit uneasy at first we are use to having locks on doors
- Smith (10/5): We will remember our time spent here forever - If you want to experience the Daintree Rainforest, come here. The house was among the Rainforest, leave your mobile phones and tablets because they don't have any WiFi or reception. Just relax and enjoy this amazing place. Recommend a visit to the Daintree explorer centre nearby and the icecream venue almost next-door. Nothing

- Angela (8/5): Very good - Beautiful house and position surrounded by rainforest. Kitchen cutlery crockery etc were a little sparse. This house would benefit from a nice big dining table and chairs. Presently it only caters for 4 seated at the table but house sleeps 6 people. When you are having family time we all need to sit at the table together
- Murray (8/5): We enjoyed out time here as it was easy to get to all the local attractions from there. - We enjoyed the seclusion and quietness of the place with no traffic or people around. We were a bit worried that the place couldn't be locked up, but this wasn't too much of an issue as there was no one around anyway
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect rainforest stay. Quiet. Relaxing. Private. Great host! -
- Izack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rhonda (9/5): Peaceful - Very peaceful location The driveway
- Amy (6/5): Lovely location and owner was very friendly. Was very humid with no aircon (especially with young children). As above, b - Beautiful location and serenity No aircon and beds were super uncomfortable, we ended up coming home a night early due to awful sleep!
- Read (10/5): Exceptional - The setting was just fabulous. Sylvia was always around and friendly. The place was spacious and homely. We had a fantastic stay. Thank you. Nothing to dislike.
- Vanesa (9/5): Superb -
- Yolanda (8/5): Very good -
- Rupert (10/5): Perfect for families that love nature and those wanting to unwind - Really nice, comfortable and just a perfect location Nothing grated at all it was peaceful so not for those wanting a hectic night life
- Laura (4/5): Disappointing and not what we expected - The location and the views from the verandah Furniture and decor very dated, uncomfortable and mismatched. Upstairs room are quite smelly and musty. Kitchen is not what I would call a self contained kitchen, not stocked (for eg no egg flip, toaster). The owner is right underneath you and you can see their roof, so didn't feel all that private for us. No adequate seating on the verandah for a family, there is not even an outdoor table and chairs to eat at so you have to eat inside. My kids did not want to shower by themselves due to privacy as the windows were open (outdoor shower). I feel there are safety features lacking as well, no smoke alarms and none of the external doors are lockable. My kids left and have been calling it 'the creepy house'
- Dorothy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emiy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joe (10/5): Outstanding - It was fantastic. We loved everything, especially the gardens and the comfort of the beds. And more sun-birds than you could possibly imagine. Nothing.
- Janet (9/5): Superb -
- Tanya (10/5): Exceptional - The whole experience was super cool. A lovely garden and a house in the middle of the jungle.
- Bhavna (9/5): Excellent location and host - In the middle of the forest so was an amazing place to experience the bird calls and rain forest experience There was only one bathroom downstairs but no hardship for our group at all, was clean and got to experience the outside in experience, was nice
- Giedre (10/5): Tropical heaven! - Absolutely stunning location and house !!! Surrounded by oldest jungles with magical tropical garden, with a stream running in backyard. House is gorgeous with large terrace overlooking juicy greenery, fully equipped with everything you need for a fantastic stay. Recommend 200%!
- Mark (10/5): Fantastic stay in a place that fully lives up to its name. - Fabulous sense of space and outlook, feeling being part of the Daintree. Perhaps the bedside lights could be a little brighter.
- Brodie (10/5): Serene rainforest hideaway, perfect nature stay in Daintree. - Rainforest setting was serene, overlooking Sylvia’s beautiful gardens. Beds were very comfortable. Balcony at sunrise and sunset stunning for coffees or evening bbq. Great host who is nearby incase you need anything. We loved everything, even our friends in the stunning bathroom which is open to outside. Nothing dangerous or scary, just the odd Huntsman who ran away when we came too close and a sweet micro bat who preferred the lights off.
- Florence (9/5): Incredibly beautiful home away from home in the middle of the rainforest - The location was perfect, amazingly beautiful garden kept by the owner, the house is cozy and comfortable with a really nice terrace to sit and relax and observe the gorgeous environnement with big butterflies flying by.
It is easily accessible yet remote enough to feel completely alone in the rainforest, to take a step back and relax. I highly recommend spending at least 3 days there!
- Tim (10/5): Fantastic. An idyllic stay in the heart of the Daintree. -
- Robert (10/5): A piece of paradise! - Amazing location and gardens. Just stunning. Lovely big open house. Would recommend to anyone. Nothing. Loved everything ❤️
- Marcelo (9/5): Superb - The location is awesome and the house is very well furnished
- Lisa (10/5): Beautiful, magical house. Spacious, lots of games for the children. We made Lovely home cooked meals - The location was amazing. There were butterflies everywhere in the gardens. You could hear a nearby creek and birds all the time.it was so special.
Close to Daintree Observatory. Easy drive to Cape Tribulation. No wifi and generally no phone reception. Phone reception made it hard to search places to look at- plan your trip before you go. Otherwise not an issue not having reception.
- Emma (10/5): Wish there was a button for exceeding 10/10! Amazing place. - Everything. What a wonderful place, and Sylvia was a fabulous host. We arrived when there had been bad flooding prior and the road up to Cape Trib still closed. However, this didn't stop us having the best time. Not only are you able to visit local places, but the garden is literally adjoining the world heritage rainforest. Will remember this forever. Thank you. Leaving
- Jake (10/5): Excellent stay in the heart of the Daintree - Incredible lodge in the heart of the Daintree rainforest, would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area! Good location and connections to the Daintree visitor centre and not too far from the ferry either. Sylvia was a brilliant host too and answered any questions we had.
- Júlia (9/5): Superb - The house is located in the middle of the rainforest with impressive views. The house is clean and tidy, I loved waking up in the morning being able to listen to the nature, so many birds, insects and other animals to see and hear. It is my bad not to check the forecast and the actual situation with Cape Tribulation road being closed. But at the moment the activities to do in Daintree are quite limited as the weather is not great and there is road works after the cyclone which is nobody's fault but I would have liked to know beforehand.
- Anna (10/5): Gorgeous spot amongst the sounds of the rainforest - The hanging gardens of Babylon. Absolutely beautiful, quiet, mental detox.
- Matthieu (7/5): Good - The location and view and original architecture. Loved that we could take our dog! The garden is well tendered showcasing lots of native flora. You have house to yourself but owners/caretakers are in another house on same property very close by so didn’t feel very private. Could not use hair tools that heat like a hair dryer or straightener, not great to get wedding ready.
- Iris (10/5): We would highly recommend Daintree Gardens. It was so peaceful, comfortable & relaxing we wanted to stay longer. It - The relaxing, quiet environment We were happy with everything but acknowledge there is no internet reception
- Emma (10/5): Gorgeous property, perfect location - Absolutely everything. Such a beautiful property in a breathtaking location. The house is full of character & comfortable. We planned 2 full days in the Daintree & this property was half way between our day up at Cape Tribulation & for our river cruise and visit to the discovery centre. Would love to visit again.
- John (9/5): Relaxing stay and enjoyed being out on the deck watching the birdlife - The bush location was exceptional. The house had unique features. The kitchen was well equipped. The food scraps were saved for the chooks. Having some little bush visitors
- Mimi (10/5): we enjoyed being in this tropical paradise - Beautiful place in enchanting surroundings. every box was ticked
- Shelton (10/5): Escape, Explore and Relax - What a great spot to relax. The secluded location was beautiful giving you the space you need to just chill.
The house is lovely, but the outdoor space was extra special. It gives you the chance to immerse yourself in the rainforest environment both daytime and evening.
Exploring the Daintree is a must from the Alexandra Lookout all the way to the Kulki beach, drop off into each beach and boardwalk to explore.
We did a crocodile cruise on the way to the Daintree, definitely a must do thing. Nothing to dislike, just recommend stocking up with groceries as you come through Mossman Gorge. The local store though will stocked is very expensive.
- Sarah (7/5): Pretty good but could use some work. - Beautiful wrap around porch. Very beautiful gardens. The location was nice, close by to a few boardwalk paths and activities. Lots of hot water for showers. The place has great potential. Very fun and quirky features such as glow in dark shower and lots of unique woodworking Not enough seating for a family of four. Beds were not very comfortable. The bathroom was not very clean or updated. You have to pack away all your food otherwise it will be covered in small ants and will attract cockroaches which were not fun to see. The doors don’t lock which worked out fine but seemed a little unsafe.
- Philippe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beatriz (7/5): Good -
- Tiffany (9/5): Relaxed atmosphere, stunning garden and comfortable nights sleep! - Stunning garden. Comfortable beds. Spacious living area. Fun bathroom. Geckos, moths and golden orb weaver were fantastic! Nothing. My elderly mother found the stairs a bit daunting at night time, getting from the second storey bedroom to the bathroom/toilet in the dark.
- Edwina (10/5): Beautiful rainforest retreat - Beautiful rainforest location
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Debbie (10/5): Thank you Sylvia for sharing your little piece of paradise with us -
- Clare (9/5): Great opportunity to experience staying in a rainforest. - Beautiful location. Fantastic views from house/deck.
Owner Sylvia was very welcoming.
Loved the quirky architecture and deck area. The only negative was having to go downstairs for the toilet at night!!
- Caroline (9/5): Lovely, recommended for families with teens - Be aware that this is not your standard holiday stay. The house is very much a part of nature, so don't expect resort-style living. Once we adjusted to the environment, we loved the peace and quiet, the sounds of the rainforest, even the orb spider living on the verandah became a familiar and friendly presence.
Surprisingly, one of the best things about this house is the lack of wifi or phone reception. Our phone-addicted teens read entire books on the beautiful verandah, played cards, and connected with us and each other more than they have in years. They are still looking back fondly on the stay as a stand-out of the trip. We had some issues with mosquito nets in a couple of the rooms. The kitchen is fine, but slightly basic. We were still able to cook full meals for the family with a little adjustment, so it's not a big issue.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Location was beautiful, quiet and secluded N/a
- Kat747 (10/5): Exceptional - Great location; well designed property.
- David (7/5): Good - Nice beautiful hous
Quiet beautiful view There Alot of bugs
Need fans in the portch
- Mary (10/5): Everything we needed for family of 4 - stunning location, beautiful views, memorable stay - Beautiful setting, spacious house
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danny (10/5): Truly amazing accommodation which exceeded our expectations. Sylvia was extremely helpful & has maintained the garde - serenity - balcony view - edge of national park- Clean & well presented furniture complementing timber construction & Garden setting there is nothing to dislike unless you must need an air cond, iron , microwave - All these items we never rely on or need when travelling to such a beautiful destination in the forest- it’s an off the grid stay which we loved, if you need air cond , suggest try and adapt to the natural warmth of the forest first & use the internal ceiling fans which were fine for our stay & quiet .
- Wayne (9/5): Great place to stay and relax. awesome mountain and wilderness outlook so close to the beach. - Location, very chilled out vibe. Nothing
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): perfect getaway! - beautiful and spacious
