Guest Reviews
- Darrion (10/5): - Lovely owners, great place with perfect location. Nothing at all.
- Nathalie (10/5): Excellent - Het was qua locatie super, hygiëne super en alle comfort van thuis. Een echte aanrader waar je geen spijt van gaat krijgen. Boeken met een gerust hart zou ik zeggen. Helemaal niets
- Esther (10/5): Very friendly host, great location, staircase was extremely steep. - Very friendly host, great location Extremely steep staircase (more like a ladder) to the bedrooms and bathroom.
- Rohan (Ron) (10/5): Great Place, Great Location, Great Hosts! - Located just a 5 minute walk to the centre of Ypres so ideal if you are visiting In Flanders’s Fields Museum, the Menin Gate, St George’s church and shops, bars & restaurants. Also ideal base for visiting the WW1 battlefields, museums, CWGC cemeteries around the Ypres Salient. The house was well equipped and had all the amenities you would have at home really lovely property. The staircases to the upper floors are quite steep so may be a problem if you have accessibility issues
- Nick (10/5): A great holiday home - A perfect house in a great location. A real home from home, Carine has thought of everything to make our stay so comfortable with lots of lovely touches. This was our second stay at Cosy Corner and it was as good as the first. The city is great to explore, lots of great restaurants and museums. We would definitely recommend Cosy Corner to anyone. Nothing
- Mark (10/5): - Everything, we made a perfect choice for our stay in Ypres. As we were 2 older gentlemen and my son is 6' 5", we all had a little trouble with the stairs as they were a little steeper than we are used to in the UK. However it did not cause a problem for long as we all got used to using them in our own ways 😁
- Ian (8/5): - Large, well-equipped and well located within easy walking distance of city centre and easy driving distance of many WWI sightseeing sights
- sharon (10/5): - Carine was there on time and very polite, she explained everything really well, the whole place was very clean, 10 minute walk to town centre with a 3 year old, will definitely use again. Like others have said, stairs are really steep
- Janice (8/5): -
- Ray (9/5): Great stay - Location great and very comfortable property. Stairs extremely steep and could be challenging for anyone with mobility challenges, the elderly or ypung children.
- Joris (9/5): Aanrader! - De locatie en het comfort Niets!
- TIM (8/5): -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nautilus (10/5): Fabulous property, easy walking distance to centre. In a quite are - Easy access to centre, had everything you needed. Hosts were friendly and informative Nothing
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (9/5): Superb - A very nice house in a very nice location Nothing it was good
- Susannah (9/5): Superb - A wonderful stay in a great location. Thank you and hope to visit again.
- Terrance (5/5): Nice quiet location, only problem was the narrow stairs. - Facilities are good. staircases are very steep and handrails would be better if they were round instead of square to offer better grip when descending or ascending the staircases.
Bathroom would be better with a walk-in shower.
- Stephen (10/5): Carine our host was very good with communication and was a very welcoming host. Just fantastic, thank you. - The location is perfect, just a short walk from the square. It was very clean and well equipped and warm and comfortable Nothing to not like
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable and extremely well equipped. The stairs are very steep.
- Chris (8/5): A lovely property in a perfect location. - Simply a lovely house - spotlessly clean, perfect location and everything that you might need. Just be mindful of the 2 sets of stairs in the property - they are very steep. We were all fine, but anyone with any kind of mobility issue might struggle to get up and down.
- Iain (9/5): Home from home - Everything you want from a home from home. Kitchen, bathroom and spacious bedrooms and living space. TV good selection of channels for later in the evening.
Good location, well within 10 minutes walking distance of the city centre and 15 from the train/bus station It wasn't a problem for us however the steep stairs could be problematic for some
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional - Ypres is a beautiful city and the Cosy Corner is just a 10 minute walk to the centre.
Lovely house will all the facilities you would expect and Carine was a wonderful host. Nothing
- Barbararosalind (9/5): Superb accommodation - Superb accommodation - clean, well presented and well equipped with everything one might need for a short stay. Parking near front door. Good location within easy walking distance from town centre. The hosts met us at the property at the time agreed, so all went smoothly Nothing, although the traditional steep stairs were a bit of a challenge
- Emanuel (9/5): Friendly host, cosy house, great stay! - Friendly and welcoming host who made sure to show us the property and give us all the important details.
The house was quite spacious, very comfy couches on the living room and kitchen was well equipped. Having a toilet in the ground floor was helpful with a large group booking.
Location is a quiet side street so you don't get any traffic noise. 15min walk to the city centre, about 5min drive. Only issue was the boiler that had some faulty code and stopped giving hot water after the 1st person showered. We contacted the host who was very responsive and immediately came over to solve the issue, so not a big deal (although some of us couldn't wait so showered with cold water).
It was solved straight away with just a reset of the boiler, although the same issue occurred again on our last morning (but then we knew how to solve it ourselves).
Oh and yeah, the staircase is very steep, as all the other reviewers pointed out. If you're on the last floor, the master bedroom, be aware that it's not for anyone with mobility issues.
- Fiona (8/5): Very good -
- Pauline (10/5): Excellent property, all amenities you require, friendly host and great value for money. - Location was excellent - very close to city centre. It was self catering. Everything needed for cooking was provided. Comfortable beds. The only thing missing at this property was a non-slip bath mat for using with the over bath shower.
- Philip (5/5): Passable - City tax and money for gas used on top of the Booking.com price. We paid 2 € for the gas, and 6 € for city tax. The owner could shoulder these meager sums, after all it was a booking for two days, how much gas did they expect us to use? Myself and my friends are all fit (for our age), nevertheless the stairs in the house are so steep that they present a dangerous situation for young and old.
- Terry (10/5): Exceptional - The location is perfect, very quiet, and just a short walk into the centre. The house itself was very clean, tidy, and had everything you would need for a comfortable stay. I would recommend a stay here. A large house with lots of space, including a separate lounge with a fire and TV. A well stocked kitchen and the owner Carine, meet us at the start of our visit and showed us around the house. A very pleasant stay and will return again.
- Sue (10/5): Fantastic homely stay. - The host was amazing -we liked that she showed us through the property and how things worked. We felt like home and the atmosphere was a great vibe. It was so close to the Cloth Hall only a few minutes away. The stairs to the bedroom were a bit steep
- Keith (9/5): ideal provided you have no mobility problems - great location stairs to bedroom very steep
- Peteb04 (10/5): Excellent! Amazing hosts, fantastic Appartment. "I'll be back" - We have stayed here before, the host always meets us to give us the keys and show us around. The accommodation is first class, and everything you could ever need is in the Appartment. The location is only a 10 minute walk from town center. A slight negative would be the 'blue badge' parking outside the Appartment, if you want to leave your car and walk for the day, you are better moving your car 100 meters to the next street where there are no restrictions. That said its such a small thing compared to the masses of plus points!
- Elizabeth (10/5): Christmas 🎄break - Very friendly owner . Cosy town house on 3 floors. Great location. Stairs were very steep but manageable. 83 year old managed to get up and down so can be accessed.
- Nick (10/5): A great holiday house - This was our first visit to Cosy Corner and we were very impressed. The location is perfect for a short 10 minute walk into Ypres centre. The house was very well equipped, the owner had thought of every little detail to make our stay very comfortable. We found the house spotlessly clean, warm and spacious. The owner was very friendly and helpful in suggesting places to visit. In all, we were very happy with our stay and will be definitely be returning. Nothing that we could think of.
- Dirck (10/5): Exceptional - Location was excellent
- Simon (9/5): Cycling trip to Ypres - Spacious, with a lovely front room. Great décor and very clean . Rooms were fab and had superb amenities. Very steep stairs between floors.
- Hazel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shannon (10/5): Fantastic location, quirky property with all mod cons. Comfortable beds. - Ideally located, quirky, clean, had everything you needed. Beds were very comfortable. Host very friendly and accommodating Nothing
- Robert (10/5): Nice house nice host what more do you need - Excellent house clean and spacious a home from home. Bed could use a thicker mattress and pillows
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pete (10/5): perfect location and great facilities - perfect location and excellent facilities, the host was really friendly and very helpful.
- Simon (5/5): The property was fine, the owner was very rude to keep us waiting in the cold for 1 hour. - The property was very clean and it was within walking distance of the centre of the city I've never paid a deposit in cash or paid for gas usage before and I've been a genius member of booking.com for years. The owner was very funny about this, I don't think the advert is clear when you book and pay in advance with no refund. The owner initially said I could pay the deposit in £ then decided it had to be Euro's. The place has steep stairs and stone walls so if we hadn't been out most of the time the additional gas bill could have been high. We called the owner at 4 pm as she requested 1 hour notice to gain access at 5 pm. She told me she couldn't make it until 5.30 pm even though we had paid to have access from 5 pm. Then she turned up at 6 pm and then only after I phoned her. It was freezing cold outside I think it's unacceptable to be kept waiting 1 hour in the cold waiting for entrance to a property that was advertised as available from 5 pm.
- Steve (10/5): Beautiful home in a beautiful city. - convenient location, easy access. There is nothing I can add here, we thoroughly enjoyed then home. We will be back again.
- Peteb04 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cooke (9/5): Excellent stay, very accommodating and brilliant location! - really well equipped property. great location, easy walking distance into Ypres centre. also easy to access by car and parking outside was really helpful. Host was very accommodating with arrival and departure. Whole property was clean and had everything we needed for a week only two very minor things stopped this from being a 10/10 stay! 1) Stairs are VERY steep! this wasn’t a problem for us but may be for others staying, this wouldn’t stop us staying again but it would stop us from taking our parents for example to stay there as they would struggle. 2) The bed in the top room was very noisy, every movement woke us up all through the night with the noise when one of us turned over, and I’m not a light sleeper! sleep on the 1st floor instead!
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (9/5): it’s that hood I would stay there again no problem. - This property has 3 separated rooms, clean and tidy, with everything you need for a relaxing self catering holiday, there is restaurant and pubs with in easy walking distance (10 minutes walk) and the host is great and very helpful. the only thing I can say is the stairs are very steep, but that’s the normal in many houses in Ypres, and if you slow down you will be all right.
- Jenny (9/5): very pleasant stay in great location - great location
