Guest Reviews
- Julia (8/5): - Beautiful peaceful location. Spacious rooms. Comfortable beds. Quaint property. The stay itself was good. However, the booking and payment process could be improved. The payment terms on Booking.com were unclear, particularly regarding when the deposit would be charged. The wording states that a prepayment may be taken at any time, which is quite vague.
In my case, the deposit was attempted without prior notice, and I did not have sufficient funds in the account at that time as I wasn’t expecting the charge. A notification or reminder (such as a text message) before processing the payment would greatly improve the experience.

- Stephen (10/5): - Great position
- John (7/5): A marvellous location, but a rather disappointing stay. - the location was excellent, a lovely spot to explore such a wealth of history. We reported light globes that were missing, but nothing weas done about it. The armchair in the lounge room was so grubby looking that we didn't dare sit in it. The sheets on one of the beds had blood spots on it - tiny spots but nevertheless completely unacceptable. the shower base had mould on it. there was no clothes dryer that I could see; the washing machine had a spin cycle but I had read that the property had a tumble dryer. We couldn't open the back door. the kitchen was very well equipped, with a lot of crockery and glasses, but the frypans didn't look clean.
- Bernadette (8/5): Needs another Toilet - Wonderful location, lovely comfortable house. Only had 1 bathroom.
- Nigel (8/5): Great cottage in ideal location. - Nice little cottage in great location. Very clean and well appointed.
The studio was good as it provided a separate area. Bit squishy for our party of 4 adults / 4 kids as the lounge is good for about 5 and there’s no undercover outdoor areas.
- Ron (10/5): Great cottage in a great location. Had a wonderful stay. - Location was excellent and very convenient. Washing line was broken and needed new padding on ironing board cover. Kitchen bench top needs replacing. But these are only minor things.
- Simon (7/5): Great old house in a great location. - Great location. House was very warm. A good amount of room. Not a lot of hot water. Kitchen needs a refresh - broken hinges, countertop needs repair.
- Christopher (10/5): Fantastic stay in the heart of historic Battery Point - Location and warmth of the cottage Back door shifted because of cold weather
- Eva (6/5): Pleasant - Door to toilet in the cottage broken couldn’t be closed. Toilet paper hangers missing and holes in walls. The door from the dining room out needs a handle because I couldn’t open it- too hard to pull. - otherwise it is a lovely house and with doing a bit of maintenance you would have gotten a stellar review! Location fabulous!
- David (8/5): Very good - Clean, good facilities, aircon, tv, kitchen utensils etc Bed a little uncomfortable
- Deidre (9/5): This Cottage is clean, spacious and convenient to travel around the city. - The cottage was clean, roomy and comfortable. It was well supplied with all essentials. it was a split level cottage with 3 bedrooms and lounge at front and down 3 stairs to kitchen, dining and bathroom/laundry. Only drawback for seniors or those with mobility issues was the depth of the 3 stairs but 4 seniors still managed to enjoy the place. A BBQ was available in the small outdoor area and the street is on the path of the Red Bus which does a tour of Hobart. Could recommend to anyone who would not consider the steps a problem. With 4 seniors in their 70's our only issue was the depth of the steps which are part of the heritage building so I imagine they could not be rectified.
- Stewart (7/5): Great location and comfortable but definitely needs some major maintenance, - No Breakfast was provided as expected so disappointed with that as we were promised with our booking.
Location was fantastic. No gas in the BBQ and was very disappointing when we had 12 people over for a BBQ roast dinner and couldn't cook it.
Property needs major maintenance, cracked walls everywhere, no towel rail in studio, holes in screen doors, no vacuum in studio, windows that don't open, dirty glasses and plates in the cupboards. Overall, for the high price paid for that particular week, we all expected better. Amazing how much cheaper it is to book the cottage any other week except Wooden Boat Festival week.
- Reeves (9/5): Superb -
- Gina (9/5): Superb -
- Eunice (8/5): Meet our needs comfortable and fantastic location - Location was brilliant. Cute & Cosy. Beds were comfortable and clean. Light in the dinning room didn't work, shower leaked and bins for recycling and rubbish were full. Not really a big deal.
- Sharon (9/5): Comfortable and position great - Great position, clean and spacious
Very comfortable Car park too small had to share with other tenant
Just enough room only for driver to squeeze out
- Kenneth (8/5): Very comfortable, great location, internet speeds were too slow for work purposes. -
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Russell (5/5): Desperately in need of Renovation - great location - Battery Point is delightful and a short walk to town and minutes to great local food/pubs
The studio unit is ideal for larger families with noisy kids/parents you want to keep out of the main house
Internet was pretty good (even though wasnt plugged in when we arrived - Tx to agent for quick help on this)
3 bedrooms good size
Kitchen is okay except the ancient stove and small fridge So much could be done with this place. It is in desperate need of both a deep clean and a full refurbishment.
Bedrooms have old/cheap furniture and small beds for such good sized rooms (please lose the noisy metal stools that serve as bedside tables!)
The only bathroom is old, plastic and shared with laundry.
Lets not talk about the state of the garden
Watch out for the old fish eye lens photos - not representative of the place any more
For the huge price we paid, even over Xmas, we expected so very much more
- Catherine (10/5): All was perfect and we would stay again. - Historic cottage, location was fantastic, comfortable, warm, had everything we needed. Shower plug was loose and my disabled brother slipped on it.
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional - Arrival and getting in was super easy! It was clean, comfortable and has a great location! We could walk to the main attractions which was fantastic. I would definitely recommend it.
- Jean-claude (8/5): A comfortable cottage, well located in Battery Point, within walking distance of the Salamanca area. - Keyless entry. Simple to use. Allows for access at any time. Hobart in Winter can be cold. We had a few heating issues in the bathroom and in the dining area. These were sorted quickly by Sam the host.
- Dilini (8/5): Very good -
- Heather (9/5): Superb -
- Niccolò (10/5): Exceptional - Door lock low on battery or has issues on responsiveness
- Joan (10/5): Great stay, perfect for our group of 6. close to everything. - clean, tidy great locality Nothing all was as expected.
- Mary (10/5): lots of little things like lovely products in the bathroom and laundry, and kitchen supplies to make us feel welcome - amazing property - just beautiful and really comfortable in a fabulous location . really cowry and felt homey. I can’t recommend it enough nothing - it was amazing
