Guest Reviews
- Smith (10/5): A relaxing and welcoming farm stay. - Janniene and Hugh are the most gracious hosts! Nothing is too much or too little for them. They go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable and welcoming as possible. From the freshly baked bread, to scone with jam and cream, even a bottle of wine in the fridge! There is so many thoughtful inclusions like cereals, teas, biscuits and even stuff like aeroguard and board games were there. They have done a lovely job restoring the 120yr old cottage to a perfect mix of modern comfort without out taking away any of the historical charm. I loved hang out with the star attraction Sophie the dog! And we really enjoyed the trip in the buggy through the paddocks to meet the cows! The photos don't do this place justice! Its also the tidiest working farm I've ever seen. The bathroom is a little outdated but it's still very functional and the water pressure is great!
- Woollam (10/5): A must book! Everything you need or didn’t even know you needed is available. Hosts make you feel like family and must b - Stunning location. Absolutely delightful and attentive hosts.
- Tanya (9/5): - Beautiful farm stay. Ambience of cottage absolutely charming & relaxing.
Hosts were wonderfully hospitable. Fresh baked treats were loved by all. Little bit far out of town, but worth the drive for the peace & quiet.
- Bernicd (10/5): Country Hospitality at its Best - A cosy, 2 bedroom farm cottage. Bring your own food and you don't need to go anywhere. Relax on the front verandah and enjoy the views to distant mountain ranges, cattle grazing and tranquillity. The host is very generous providing a welcome bottle of wine, homemade scones with jam and cream and a fresh loaf of bread, also home made. There are plenty of basic supplies in the pantry and fridge. We stayed 2 nights. The cottage is located on a working cattle property approx 18klm from Dorrigo. As the fuel crisis was developing and we were 100's of kilometres from home, we decided to stay at the property for the day rather then drive into and out of town. It was a great way to relax. It's not that we didn't like it, just be aware that you will be out of town using narrow country roads.
- Zoe (10/5): Absolute Bliss - The location was so peaceful and beautiful, and the owners, Janniene and Hugh are wonderful There was nothing that I didn't like
- Hamish (10/5): -
- Rebecca (10/5): - Janniene and Hugh's warmth and hospitality were second to none. We had a very special stay!
- Jacqui (9/5): Peaceful relaxing quaint cottage - Extra little details- fresh bread, peacefulness, games for kids and treats, swing Would of liked to meet the owners but Evan was nice the caretaker
- Alannah (10/5): A little piece of paradise - Every amenity provided making our stay pure bliss. We sat on the verandah for hours whilst listening to tunes on the sound bar. Kids played badminton and totom tennis. So clean and comfortable. Crusty warm bread with breakfast was sensational. Did a load of washing and used the WiFi to book the next leg of our holiday. BBQ'd delicious t-bones from the butcher for dinner. If this place is available - book it. I was concerned it was a little out of town however its absolutely worth the 10min drive for the hospitality and supreme comfort and amenities.
- Peter (10/5): - Sehr gemütliches Haus und super freundliche Gastgeber.
Leckeres selbst gebackenens Brot und so viele liebevolle Details. Vielen Dank 😊

- Michelle (8/5): Face cottage is delightful, quirky comfortable and a gorgeous little place to spend a week - The hosts were remarkably helpful and generous kind. Yet not intruding the property is located in a beautiful place with wonderful views, cows and animals surrounding the property, a real country farms stay. Just a little bit far for me, 25 minutes into Dorrigo and 25 minutes back. I was attending the folk Bluegrass Festival so driving in the dark on the way back at night was a little scary but otherwise fantastic if you plan a holiday I highly recommend it.
- Sandra (10/5): Just about perfect. - Location is superb.Hosts are amazing-so welcoming and happy to please their guests. A wonderful place to spend a few days. Nothing
- Terena (10/5): - Everything was amazing from the very start on arrival ,we met the super host and received the nicest surprise a welcome basket of goodies and freshly baked scones too!Our stay was so very cosy and comfortable and the countryside views are very spectacular. It truly was a" great getaway".just what we needed

The fire was on when we arrived, fresh bread in the morning followed by fresh scones in the afternoon. Perfect base for adventures around dorrigo plus some chill time on the peaceful property. Thankyou so much Hugh for looking after our family. Hope to see you again in the future.
- Ellie (10/5): Amazing! - Everything was amazing! Fresh baked bread and scones, cows in the paddocks, chats with the hosts, firewood burning, and candles on, the cottage is beautiful and homey. Absolutely recommended!! I will be back.

- Cameron (10/5): Beautiful cottage, exceptional hospitality - Where to start?? Exceptional hospitality, they go above and beyond with treats like freshly baked bread, the best scones you will ever eat, catering to dietary needs, the list could go on. Fabulous views, very comfy bed and we were greeted with a lovely roaring fire. Wished we had booked the cottage for longer.
- Susan (9/5): A lovely stay in a very comfortable cottage - The cottage is very comfortable with the wood heater providing good heating in the winter months. The decor is very in keeping with the farm and surroundings. Loved the fresh baked bread and scones. Really enjoyed the farm tour in the buggy. A bigger bin in the kitchen would be ideal. Floor mats in living room are lovely and match the theme but could possibly be a trip hazard. This wouldn’t stop us from staying again though.
- Andrea (10/5): Delightful cottage in a beautiful farm setting - Our family of four had the most wonderful stay at Fay’s Cottage. The cottage was homely, beautifully-styled and well-appointed with all we required. Our sons adored the cows, farm tours, books and toys. We loved the wood fire on cold winter nights, fresh bread, scones, wine and other culinary delights. The caretakers on site for our stay (Jennifer and Phil) were absolutely lovely, thoughtful and attentive. Well located about 25mins drive to Dorrigo National Park and its stunning walks. Two nights wasn’t enough!
- Geoff (10/5): A wonderful comfortable get away from it all. - Wonderfully comfortable cottage, well stocked with provisions, and nice and warm (particularly as weather was wet, windy and cold outside). Very nice peaceful setting on a farm, a great place to relax. The host Janniene was exceptional, nothing was too much bother. Lovely warm bread delivered every 2nd day, beautiful scones for afternoon tea, and meeting our special dietary needs was unexpected.
Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to "get away from it all". Nothing (even the weather was nice when sitting in front of the fire).
- Silvia (10/5): Exceptional - We like everything about our stay in this property. 100% recomendable
- Connie (10/5): Exceptional - From the minute we walked in Jannine had the fire on candles burning music playing 🌞there was a bottle of wine waiting in the fridge it was full of juice home made jams honey milk butter yougurts chocolate there were bananas apples cerial coffee
The beds were so clean and warm the next morning we had fresh bread delivered to the back porch and in the afternoon fresh scones with cream.
I have never met a host like this she even had toiletries in a hand made bag

We will be back thank you Jannine Nothing

- Julie (10/5): Heaven - Absolutely adorable cottage with everything you want and need for a relaxing stay with the most hospitable hosts.
The breakfast basket and supplies were bountiful and delicious.
From the views and freshly cooked bread and scones. Feeding the cattle if you desire or walking. Or relaxing on the verandah watching the sunset. Every room had little surprises to keep you entertained and fireplace to cosy up with. Leaving
- Annette (10/5): We'll be back !! - Loved the beautiful cottage and the fire we had each afternoon while having a wine/beer. The delicious scones jam & cream that were provided by the host for afternoon tea, not to mention the breakfast food provided each morning and a bottle of wine to welcome us when we arrived !
The township of Dorrigo was also a bonus - such friendly & happy people. There was nothing to dislike
- Craig (10/5): We had a lovely stay at Fayes Cottage - Great hospitality from Janniene and Hugh. Comprehensive and plentiful ingredients provided for self-make continental breakfast (+ eggs), freshly baked bread. Also all basic pantry supplies (milks, juice, jams, honey, oil, foil etc) were there ready to go. Lots of pods for coffee machine.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about our stay was wonderful. From the 120 year old cottage to Janniene's freshly made bread and scones and Hugh's farm tour on the quad buggie. Hugh and Janniene were absolutely lovely people and excellent hosts. It definitely was a very special stay indeed. Nothing at all

Janniene made us afternoon tea scones while Hugh took our kids out onto the farm to meet their cows and horses. In the morning, Janniene baked us fresh sourdough bread for our breakfast. We were made to feel very welcome and special. We will definitely go back if we are in the area and highly recommend this place. Nothing. There is not anything to dislike.

We were welcomed home from a day hiking in cold wet weather with a roaring fire which provided a warm, cosy respite from the weather. Janniene was available to answer all of our questions in a friendly and hospitable manner. Fay's cottage is a special place and we would recommend it to anyone travelling in the Northern Tablelands. Hot baked scones one afternoon as well (not only beautiful to eat fresh with lashings of jam and cream but enough to pack some buttered date scones for a picnic the next day.
- Antoine (8/5): The position is lovely, wide unobstructed views of beautiful country side and a homely, pretty home. - Breakfast was very basic, needed to prepare ourselves. It wasn't really a bed and breakfast, but more a home, bed and some breakfast provisions.
- Ken (10/5): I would recommend this property as one of the best I have stayed in. - All provisions were fantastic. Nothing was overlooked - from fresh bread to hot scones with selection of jams and cream.
- Jelena (10/5): Environmental education centres and zoos conference 2023 - The views, the service and the overall welcoming feel of the cottage was lovely.
The freshly baked bread was certainly a highlight.
The time appropriate but modernised decor was lovely and interesting. Every was amazing and lovely.
It was a tiny bit out of the way from where we had our activities booked (work conference) but this didn't dampen the experience at all.
- Allison (10/5): A Gem in Dorrigo - Absolutely brilliant. A true gem.
Highly recommend and already planning my return visit.
The lovely cottage is outstanding, beautifully decorated, well equipped, extremely comfortable with a front verandah and views overlooking paddocks and rolling hills.
I had a most enjoyable 2 night stay and could easily have enjoyed much longer. Location was quiet and incredible
Hugh and Janniene are lovely and so easy to talk too. They gave me great advice on places to go and see. Loved talking with them. The tour of the farm was great and Johhnie (dog) so friendly.
Fresh baked scones , fresh baked bread and breakfast supplies were incredible and delicious.

- Erin (10/5): Best stay we’ve had - Fay’s Cottage is everything you dream of when you book a stay in the country: the view will take your breath away, you will be warmly welcomed by Janniene and Hugh, you will eat homemade scones and bread - the best you’ve ever tasted and Hugh will even take you around to see his cattle. You will feel connected and restored.

- Parisa (10/5): joyful , nice vipe , relaxing - it is like beautiful dream come true and this is second time we come here and it’s absolutely Devine everything fantastic
- Drew (10/5): A superb taste of country life with amazing hosts in the serene surrounds of Dorrigo, NSW - We loved the amazing country outlook of green rolling hills, trees and livestock. The serenity and peaceful surrounds with just the occasional chatter of the birds was just beautiful and was exactly what we wanted for our weekend in the Dorrigo area. Our hosts, Janneine and Hugh were beautiful people, and made sure we had freshly baked bread, scones, and a constant supply of firewood to give us that real country experience. Hugh was more than willing to show us around the property, and yes! we had the experience of feeding the calves... so much fun, and it goes without saying that we will definitely be back! The rain that came that weekend, however that just made being inside in front of the cosy fire all that much better!
- Jim (10/5): peaceful stay, gracious hosts, true country hospitality rather thanadvertising hype. - quiet, peaceful, lovely views. nil
- Leia (9/5): Superb -
- Clive (10/5): Perfection! - Just twenty minutes from Dorrigo, this is the perfect place to stay for exploring the Waterfall Way. The cottage is just perfect! Beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and so spacious, we really could not fault anything. Indeed it ranks in our top ten places we have stayed anywhere in the world, which is no mean achievement, as pre covid we had been travelling the world more or less continuously for the previous 14 years and have stayed in literally hundreds of places.
Fay’s Cottage delivers so much more than expected and Janniene and Hugh are perfect hosts who go above an beyond what could be reasonably expected. The cottage is so well equipped and not just with the obvious stuff, but things that we really wouldn’t have thought of. We arrived to a fridge stocked with delicious goodies for breakfast. Shortly after we had settled in Janniene brought round a basket of the most amazing freshly baked scones still warm from the oven and, the next morning, a freshly baked loaf!
This is one of the most tranquil places we have stayed and it was pleasant to relax in front of a roaring log fire in the evenings. The views from the verandah over rolling farmland and forest are simply stunning!
This is one very special place!
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
