Guest Reviews
- Eamonn (10/5): Pleasantly surprised and highly recommended - Very spacious, clean and homely. There is nothing not to like. It was very well presented and the kitchen had everything at hand
- Alan (9/5): Excellent but fat too short ! - Old world charm and character it reminded me of my grandmother's house and all the mischief I got up to as a 4-year-old. Weather could have been better but other than that nothing.
- Linda (10/5): Had a wonderful time. Loved the place - The location is perfect, walk to town. The spa was great, kids loved it.
The home had everything we needed, including a great coffee machine.
I would totally recommend this home to anyone.
- Frances (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (9/5): Superb - Beautiful home. Everyone loved the spa.
- Linda (9/5): Great holiday - It was a beautiful home, me and kids had a great time, so comfortable. Only 1 tv was a bit hard with the kids, but we all wished we could stay longer.
- John (8/5): We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again. - The spa was fabulous. Walk to the town for cafes and supplies. Near to Hunter Valley attractions. Nothing
- Philip (10/5): Stress free.. relaxing .. everything sorted & made easier… very clean & comfy - Beautiful ambiance of stain glass windows & polished floors & the cute paintings around the house & of course the amazing spa out in the courtyard (( I practically lived in 😂)) the bbq was the best .. lots of gas .. very clean & was powerful .. the owners were fantastic & let me stay longer … & was very accommodating… perfect place for a fur baby as well .. the property fully fenced 👍.. has all the channels of stan.. prime video.. Disney + Netflix & even board games & the beds were super soft & comfy .. like sleeping in a Cotten cloud 🤗… would highly recommend anyone to escape to a stress free invironment like this place 👍 Everything was great but our fur baby chou chou didn’t want to leave & hid under the house 😂the owners were amazing & said stay as long as u need to get her .. we eventually did by bribing her with food 😂
- Lauren (10/5): Great place, great location. - Had a lovely stay at High View Manor. Lovely space inside and outside to sit together and catch up with friends.
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Mariella (1/5): The house was broken in; our car, belongings and food got stolen! - The house itself is nice and is exactly as described by the host & other reviewers. This is a difficult review to write as our group is still shaken and the case is under investigation.
We were a group of females staying at this place for the long weekend.
However, what we did not realise is how exposed it is due to its location in an open corner and the amount of windows that give it plenty of natural light - but also make it an easy target for outsiders to peek inside.
Long story short, the day we had a wine tour booked the house got broken in. The intruder came through one of the windows, went through everyone’s bags; stole plenty of personal items, food, speakers and OUR CAR! Shocking, I know.
Upon realisation we immediately called the owners who eventually came to their home, checked their phone recordings of the CCTV camera (there’s only 1 at the front) and realised someone had been wandering around the home not once, but twice after we got picked up by the tour company.
They were calm and collected in regards to the incident but we were shook for obvious reasons.
The police came in as well, a report was made and is in process (car was eventually found). We were told such incidents are happening more frequent in Cessnock as intruders are targeting Airbnb type of homes.
The owner offered us to stay an extra night for free (instead of reimbursing any / all of the paid ones) - clearly remaining at this place was the last thing on our minds. Quite frankly, we were puzzled they did not panic at all, the lack of cameras around the home, and that we were left on our own to deal with the police.
Also, one more thing.
On the day of check in, we had been offered by the owners to arrive earlier without issues as the house would be ready.
We got there early as discussed and the cleaner had just barely started so we left…! The reason provided was school holidays / long weekend so staff were under pressure. A courtesy email to let us know in advance would have been nice too.
- Rhiannon (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic property and stay. Walking distance to Cessnock Town and easy 10min drive to lots of lovely vineyards.
Property was cleaned to hotel standard with comfortable relaxing living space, well equipped kitchen with modern amenities - coffee machines, milk frother, washer/dryer.
The hot tub was clean and a really wonderful addition to the property. The outside space has cover and lots of comfy seating. Our dog loved sniffing around the garden.
Was a lovely stay and we can't wait to stay again in the future.
- Amanda (10/5): Great and comfortable place.. - Property was amazing, very clean and everything was supplied. (Towers, internet etc) I believe the only thing got us a bit stressed on the first day was the hot water wasn’t on when we arrived and no one told us before which we just discovered when we went to have a shower and was late in the night. We ended up staying without hot water this day and had to wait the next morning to have a hot shower which this could be avoided if we had a little note to turn on the water.
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- 家倩 (1/5): Bad - Location suitable. Bad experience. No hot water at all on first night, not enough hot water for all guests on second night. We found broken glass in the spa bath. The owner complained to us about the previous people who stayed, saying they left a mess - this is not our problem. They don't pay to get hot water 24/7, so enjoy a cold shower or go without. They asked us to put chlorine in the spa. One room had no air conditioner remote control. Leaking shower in main bathroom, drip drip drip the entire time. Fold-out bed in living room broken, gave one of the guests major back problem for the entirety of the stay. We used the dryer and it tripped the breaker circuit so we had to find the power box and flip the laundry switch.
The owner offered us a $100 discount, but then they never followed through with that, we never got a discount. Lies and bad experience. Stay somewhere else. Warning !
- Justin (10/5): Enjoyable trip - Very nice and clean
- Amabile (10/5): Great and comfy place!!! Perfect for families with pets. -
- Tash85 (8/5): Great stay in the beautiful manor. With new mattresses, this place would be perfect - Great location near the centre of Cessnock but still nice and quiet in the evenings.
The spa and the outside and inside entertaining areas was lovely in the evenings to relax after a full day of wine tasting. A lot of our friends complained with bad sleep that the beds were uncomfortable and even my husband. The beds in the 3rd room are really only suitable for children but we were with all adults.
The ensuite bathroom doesn’t have a door.
Kitchen was mostly well equipped but missing oil and milk.
- Deirdre (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, close to the main shops in town and very cute house, absolutely perfect for a weekend in Hunter with friends 😊 the hot tub is a great addition too!!
- Peita (10/5): Exceptional - very centrally located for our family to stay when attending a Hunter valley wedding
- Di (10/5): Exceptional - Cute, country cottage with a lovely vibe. Great location & view over Cessnock. Short stroll to town centre with great pubs and cafes. And, of course, gateway to the Hunter Valley.
- Rosemary (8/5): Very good -
- Melody (9/5): Superb - The house was beautiful and so relaxing for myself and friends. The shower over the bath leaked water onto the floor due to poor design.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anjali (9/5): amazing home! so beautiful and clean. Host was lovely and very responsive! highly recommend this house for friends and f -
