Guest Reviews
- Derek (8/5): Location was good. It suited our purpose for being in Drysdale. - We brought our own. We found a couple of moths in the bed.
- William (9/5): A cosy, well-equipped retreat with everything you need for a comfortable stay! - Great little cottage, full of everything you will need, fantastic shower, comfy bed and couch and a kitchen fully stocked with appliances like electric frying pan, electric hob, microwave, toaster (wish we knew this before we arrived as we thought there was only a microwave). Nice little deck to sit out and enjoy the quiet atmosphere, there is also a bbq and firepit although we didn't use them. We will definitely be back! Can get a little cold even with the split system on all night, but plenty of blankets are bedding are provided.

- Garry (10/5): Definitely would recommend this place , we were situated perfectly to go on the Q-Train - Location was quiet , close to town and the lake across the road . Really gave it that country feel with all the birds singing in the morning
They went up and beyond in what they supplied in the cabin . Milk , bread , cereal , coffee , hot chocolate, tea, cooking and cleaning products . Really rare to go somewhere that is so well supplied and included in the price . Thanks so much guys Wasn’t that l didn’t like , would’ve liked to have met and thanked the owners for our stay . Great job guys
- Sue (9/5): Perfect location, very quiet and accomodating - Perfect location, nice and clean, very quiet Everything was great
- Hopkins (9/5): A very cute cottage with everything you need. We loved it 👏👏👏 - Very convenient location to walk to the Q Train Nothing
- Craig (10/5): Character and Charm at the Dairy Cottage. - The location the peace and quiet and quaintness of the property. A fair dinkum rural dairy cottage with loverly grounds as well. Nothing really on the property. Other than the request on Sunday for a 10am check out on the Monday to be moved back 30 minutes due to family matter got no response prior or well after the request 24 hours later.

- Sheila (9/5): Ideal getaway spot handy for the Q Train - A cosy spot that absolutely met our needs. Appreciated the little touches like breakfast cereals, condiments etc. The bathroom is modern, and the shower strong. Being able to BBQ just outside was lovely. Waking up to the birds, and walking around the lake was a joy. We were booked on the Q train, so this was an ideal spot. Nice to have a coffee machine, but I fear the coffee was past it's best.
A little history of the cottage and how it went from Dairy to accommodation would have been good.
- Helena (10/5): I want to keep this a secret - A perfect cottage to spend a few days. Peter and Felicity have done a superb job of creating a comfortable, cosy refuge. The fridge and pantry have all the goodies needed. The bed was very comfortable.
There is a tame magpie that comes to say hello each day and loads of rabbits and other birdlife. To top it off Lake Lorne is across the road and provides a lovely morning/evening walk.
I can highly recommended this little treasure. Nothing
- Buckley (10/5): Very pleasant place to stay, comfortably furnished in a semi rural setting. We would stay there ag - Variety of breakfast foods and teas, coffee, drinking chocolate were provided.
Beautifully quiet, easy to find, great location for walking and cycling.

- Ross (10/5): Great place for a few days R & R. Felicity and Peter were great hosts. Thank you! -
- Molly (10/5): - Peter and Felicity were very hospitable. Although only there for a short stay, I don’t think we could have picked better. Generous breakfast options were provided, and the place had a cozy nature about its self. Parking was quite easy and simple to find, and Peter and Felicity were quick to reply to questions. Would 100% recommend to anyone travelling. All was amazing.

- Geoff de Looze (9/5): - Comfortable cottage in a lovely garden setting, close to the Bellarine railway terminus. Interesting host to talk to... Nothing to report
- Christina (10/5): Great place to stay, comfortable, clean and like a home away from home! - The location was perfect! The cottage was so comfortable and had everything you needed!
The owners are easy to contact and very accommodating, thank you 🙏🏻 Nothing
- Elisabeth (9/5): -
- Brendan (10/5): Exceptional - It was very clean, thoughtfully furnished, very quiet, located in a lovely park setting, had a hot shower and was comfortably warm in mid winter. The continental breakfast was lovely and meant we could snuggle in a bit before we headed out for the day. I took my wife on the Q Train, which was only 5 minutes walk, making the week-end super relaxing. Thanks!
- Jenny (10/5): Cute little cottage. Excellent location if going on the Q train -
- Tony (10/5): Exceptional - Warm, comfortable and cute little cottage, very helpful and friendly host. The cold weather, but we can't do anything about that.
- Anita (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (9/5): lovely, peaceful location near the lake...attentive and cheerful hosts - everything we wanted ...and wholesome exhaust fan in bathroom rather ineffective
- Suzy (10/5): Cottage comforts in Drysdale. - A cute little cottage with everything we needed including generous breakfast supplies.
The bed was comfy and hosts were great to communicate with; they sent prompt replies to my queries. It's a great base from which to do the Q train.- you can walk to the station in about 10 minutes along the lakeside path. Drysdale village is a little further along.
- Wayne (9/5): Superb - Brilliant.
- Richard (9/5): Lovely little cottage, comfortable even if a little tired. Extensive facilities thoughtfully provided. - Wonderful location. The access to the Qtrain as a short walk was just as expected and the walks around the lake a joy. The gardens around the cottage blessed us with an array of native birds and wildlife to watch. Everything was clean and neat and the owners had gone to extremes to ensure that the cottage afforded everything we could have wanted. Most impressed with the facilities provided even though in our short stay we did not get to use much of them A little cold overnight because the bathroom window wouldn’t shut properly. Not easy to park after dark in the laneways and find access.
- Robert (9/5): idyllic - VG Breakfast, VG Location
- Heather (8/5): Dairy Cottage was a great place for a quick visit to Drysdale. - Peaceful, private setting with garden surrounds, history, coziness. Bit tricky to access parking at night.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - It is a lovely place for a country stay.. The environment is perfect.
- Ern (8/5): Enjoyed the stay despite the rain - Quite sufficient Some way to put our clothes
- Rosemary (10/5): Exceptional - The Dairy is situated in a fantastic location, very close to The Q train. We had an event at Tuckerberry Farm, and this was a great place to stay. The Dairy has everything you need: a comfortable couch, bed, and they provided generous breakfast. There's a lovely area to eat outside, a beautiful garden, firepit, and garden lounge chairs. The shower had great water pressure. There is a great bakery very close by Ket Baker's incredible bread and an amazing assortment of tarts and danishes. Less than 20 drive mins to Queenscliffe or Ocean Grove.
- Mary (10/5): Had a lovely stay with everything provided. Very comfortable, quiet and amazing location. Would recommend to anyone. - What a great little cottage with everything you need for your stay. Position was perfect if you’re going on the Q train. And walking around the lake opposite is a delightful walk. So close to all those wonderful beaches in the area, and so safe and peaceful.
- Elisabeth (9/5): Cosy cottage – relaxing stay - Cosy cottage in tranquil setting opposite Lake Lorne. Comfy bed, lovely breakfast provisions, such as different jams, tea, coffee, cereals and a full 2 litre bottle of milk in the fridge (instead of UHT long life milk portions), excellent split system air con, as well as a great shower. The dark night sky just outside the cottage was great for star watching. We’d like to come back and use the outdoor fire pit next time, when the temperatures are lower then they were during our stay.
- Pamela (8/5): Very good -
- Scott (9/5): Superb -
- Ronald (10/5): Absolutely beautiful, quiet relaxing and enjoyable. - Everything was perfect..
Easy to find and convenient location for touring around the area. Perfect for catching the Drysdale train tours and rail trails... Nothing to not like.
- Clare (10/5): Great place with a warm, rustic ambience in a wonderful location - Beautiful cottage with everything we needed. Very thoughtfully prepared foe guests. Wonderful setting.
- Greg (9/5): Quiet location. Clean and tidy - Everything was clean and breakfast provisions unexpected. Quiet location. Would prefer to be closer to town facilities.
- Vasilios (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (10/5): Cute and cosy getaway, perfect for our special weekend. - Very cute cottage... small but perfectly formed. It was a peaceful location allowing us to relax, but close to town. The lake across the road was a real treat to walk around. The wildlife was an added bonus, with sheep in the fields, magpies warbling on the deck and rabbits (so many rabbits!). We had a fabulous time and will be back (if Felicity and Peter will have us)
- Mike (9/5): Very comfortable and quiet. Enjoyable stay - A well appointed property with all the necessary appliances including a small portable Induction cooktop.
There was also a large selection of breakfast items available. A hanging closet / robe would have been nice.
- Michael (10/5): Perfect - Excellent location for exploring whole Bellarine Peninsula and for seeing rare Frecked Ducks in the lake opposite the cottage.
- Nicole (8/5): Nice quiet getaway, close to home, also enjoyed the Qtrain experience. - The provided breakfast options were lovely. Having a coffee machine available, also hot chocolate options was great.
- Michael (10/5): It had everything we needed, made for a very enjoyable experience. - There was everything needed for breakfast and more, it was very quiet . We absolutely loved this place.
- Lynette (10/5): Just loved our stay at the Dairy Cottage & would recommend to other travellers - Location was very peaceful, in a beautiful garden setting…perfect 🥰 Nothing
- Joanne (10/5): It was a wonderful stay. - The Dairy was clean and comfortable and it was supplied with everything you could think of. It was so peaceful and quiet and so close to The Q Train, we loved our stay.
- Jo (10/5): A home away from home. Wish we could have stayed longer. The perfect location. - Very easy access
- Kathy (10/5): Fantastic little cottage not far from town. Beautiful lake across the road which you can walk around and only a stroll t - Beautiful little cottage with views of the lake.
Hosts supplied breakfast.
Perfect location for our dinner on the Q Train
Peter went above and beyond with his service.
- Clea (10/5): Really enjoyable. Perfect for a single or couple for a short stay - Hosts were lovely, place was very quiet but still close to all amenities. Everything has been thought of.
- Deborah (9/5): A charmingly decorated cottage with everything we needed for an easy stay. - The kitchen had all the facilities we needed to prepare our meals and the cottage was decorated very tastefully. I appreciated the effort the hosts had made to avoid waste, in bathroom and kitchen products. There was plenty of everything we needed in food and toiletries but I didn't feel like we were creating waste which is an aspect of travel I hate. If it is possible to ventilate and/or heat the bathroom better that would make it a bit more comfortable to use, but it was still fine the way it was.
- Ragna (9/5): Very relaxing - Didn’t have breakfast Bedside lights
- Jackie (10/5): Great comfortable stay in a lovely environment. - We stay in this area quite a lot visiting friends and have stayed in many different Hotels, Cabins and B&Bs. The Dairy Cottage was one of the best and we will be staying there again. Great location in large well kept gardens quite a distance from the main house. Very private. Opposite the lake that has a nice walking path around it. Close to Drysdale where our friends live. The Cottage was very clean and comfortable. Good shower, bed and facilities. The host supplied plenty of milk cereal, bread and spreads for Breakfasts. Good communication via the App. Nothing
- Hayley (9/5): Superb -
- Jocelyn (8/5): Very good -
- Jeff (10/5): very easy to get to, information for accommodation was great. - location was great, close to the Lake for nice walk each day, and short walk to Q train for Lunch & train ride, 20 minutes from Ferry, all in all a great weekend had, would recommend if looking for accommodation when going on Q train this is the place to stay. N/A
- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional - We loved it here. The bed was so comfortable. The room was warm and cosy. Really nice sitting out by the fire pit.
- Kerry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louise (9/5): Very relaxing and enjoyable - Great location, ideal for exploring the area. Quiet and relaxing but not too far from local towns.
- Maihi (10/5): Excellent cottage stay - Absolutely loved our stay at the Dairy cottage. Beautiful location and the cottage was perfect for our 2 night stay. Close to the Q train which is why we selected the cottage 900m away. Most peaceful sleep we've had in awhile with almost no traffic using the road nearby and also excellent shower.
The location is close to shops, wineries, and most attractions around the Bellarine area. We caught the ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliffe which is approx 20km away ideal if your heading across to the Mornington peninsula. Perfect stay. Nothing of note but entrance to cottage parking is shown in my photos.
- Ronald (9/5): Another quaint cottage if you are the type of traveller who likes interesting places to stay. Nice hosts. - Lake opposite. Close to Portarlington. Had everything that you needed, (including some absolutely delicious jam). Nice and cosy with lots of character. Nothing really. It was ideal for the purpose we were in the area.
- Josephine (10/5): Had a lovely stay at a lovely place. - Its location to where we had to go.
It had everything we needed. Clean and very comfortable. Rather a large area didn’t feel crowded. It was cold. It did have a reverse cycle aircon which worked well once it was on for awhile.
- Diane (10/5): All you need for a comfortable stay, can highly recommend. - Lovely cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Really appreciated the extras in the kitchen. I had forgotten to pack chai teabags and to my surprise they had the very brand I use! Other items also, including, sauces, cooking oil, milk and even a small loaf of bread. Fun collection of books by the bed too. Great location for the q train, and sun sets by the lake were lovely. Highly recommend.
- Butler (10/5): Cosy and close to Q-Train - The location was close to town and easy walking distance to the Q-Train.
Cosy and secluded with a country feel.
Assorted tea, coffee and breakfast provided. (Muesli, weetbix, bread, spreads and milk)
- Elizabeth (10/5): Cosy, romantic accommodation loved the Dairy cottage - Gorgeous little cottage, perfect location for the qtrain. Very comfortable, everything we needed. Lovely extras left for our use, breakfast provisions and toiletries made for a nice touch. Highly recommend, we loved our stay. Bed was cosy and comfortable. Nothing that we didn't like.
- Dale (9/5): Quiet location, cosy cottage with everything you need, close to the Q-train, would stay here again. -
- Roslyn (8/5): A lovely stay I'd recommend to ANYONE loving the ambience and appointments! - The very comfy bed, the neatness of the room, the abundance of consumables for our use included in the price (including the homemade apricot jam just like my mum used to make!), the location in relation to our intended special occasion dinner (the Q Train), the friendly host, the way the hosts allowed us our privacy, the air con, the lovely cottage touches in decor that weren't compromising our safety or comfort (all windows had flywire; you'd be surprised how many such accommodation types do not!) Fantastic water pressure in the shower with a convenient choice of a handheld shower head. The amazing coffee machine, the full 2 litre bottle of light milk in the fridge. The tiny sign we had to search for to find the driveway (cute, but FAR TOO SMALL and UNLIT), the awkward parking out front of the place, the terrible lack of lighting once you were away from the decking (this made parking and alighting from/into our vehicle dangerous!!), the AWFUL shower curtain that clung to us in the shower, and the shower had mold in many places on the grout. The water from the shower tended to easily make it's way on the fabric mat for outside the shower, since that annoying shower curtain clung to us as we showered (a heavier curtain, or a weighted one or better still, a sliding glass door would fix that!) and the lip at the bottom of the shower entrance was low enough to allow this. There were cobwebs under the lampshades...
- Cathy (10/5): Very clean and nice easy footpath to the q train -
- Julie (9/5): Relaxing and peaceful - The host was very friendly and accommodating it was excellent, plenty of breakfast supplies and if we needed any further assistance e only had to ask.
- Eleni (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (9/5): Super cut place for a relaxing stay! -
- Christine (10/5): Clean, cosy cottage; all that we needed for a two night stay after our QTrain experience. Recommend! - Such a lovely clean cottage. All of the facilities that we needed, including outdoor decking, BBQ and view of Lake Lorne.
Very quiet, just the sound of birds - and some chooks to make friends with! There was nothing that we found to dislike!
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Very relaxing and well presented accomodation - Very clean and well presented. Authentic old place with sympathetic renovations. Set in lovely gardens. Hosts were onsite but very much respected our privacy. Easy to contact via txt. Good hot water and kitchen facilities. Easy walking distance to The Q Train. It's a bit isolated if you don't have a car (except for Q Train). Didn't bother us but do your own homework. If you are heading for the Q Train then you won't find a better place
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful little cottage, everything we could have asked for during our stay.
- Leesa (10/5): A beautiful place to relax and enjoy the country & lake. - The property is stunning. The location is excellent and the owners always reply promptly. We loved it and highly recommend! Nothing at all. The gardens and house were spotless with everything you could need.
- Manuel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicole (10/5): A great place for relaxating and privacy. We really enjoyed our week of recharging our batteries. Definitely recommend t - Private, quiet, peaceful and perfect. Great facilities in a well positioned spot. Just what we needed for a week of relaxation. The additional personal touches were greatly appreciated - fresh bread, butter, condiments, milk and cereal made for a nice surprise. Not to forget the lovely bathroom supplies too. Nothing
- Heidi (10/5): Charming Cottage! Very well appointed. With many kitchen extras included which was a delight - A lovely, cosy, comfortable and clean cottage. Very well appointed with a beautiful outlook and excellent location.
- Chun (8/5): Very good - The hosts are lovely! Beautiful people and view. Just the bed is a bit too soft for me.
- Barb (10/5): The owners go above normal to give you a very comfortable stay their was Christmas tinsel and a tin of biscuits waiting, - The quietness and heritage and location close to amenities and lake across the road The cheeky spider who decided to take a trip in my car,my fault for leaving car open under a tree
- Christine (9/5): Perfect little cottage for a couple to stay. - Cosy comfy everything we needed. Enjoyed our time there and walked a couple of laps of the lake too. I thought I’d read when booking that breakfast was not provided so we bought provisions. Only to find on arrival that there were breakfast options provided. Bit confused about that 🤷♀️ maybe I was wrong
- Erika (9/5): Lovely, like a tiny house in beautiful garden surrounds. Very private and quiet. - Great supplies of cereal, bread, jams, fruit on arrival Pillows were too hard. Other than that it was lovely
- Vern (10/5): Quiet cosy Cottage - Loved how quiet the Cottage was and the beautiful gardens.
Best shower pressure ever.
Excellent facilities. Bit hard to park and reverse the car into the space provided.
- Colleen (10/5): Very comfortable. Warm and cozy. wonderful and generous hosts - The property sits at the bottom of hosts beautiful sprawling garden garden opposite a lake. Very picturesque There was nothing I didn’t like about it
- Casey (10/5): Could not recommend this accommodation more - one of the best places we've ever stayed! - This cottage was absolutely delightful, beautiful inside and out. It has everything you need for breakfast (we were provided a fresh loaf of bread with all condiments, coffee, real milk, cereals), plus cooking oils/spices etc. We were there for a wedding so weren't able to use the bbq or firepit, but genuinely would have loved to stay at least another night if we'd had the time. The farm the cottage sits on is beautiful, so you are surrounded by gorgeous gardens, magpies waking you up in the morning, and bunnies on the driveway in the evening - plus the lake across the road has a wonderful walking track. Nothing
- David (10/5): Exceptional - well restored dairy
- Dwiz_ph (8/5): Wonderful peaceful retreat. - Beautiful location overlooking the lake. Easy walk to have morning coffee at the lake. Bus stop a short walk although can walk to Drysdale Village with ease through the recreation park. Highly recommend for some gentle & peaceful relaxation. Would be good to have washer & dryer
- Diane (9/5): Charming place to stay. - Lovely quiet location, very comfortable.
- Barry (9/5): Romantic isolated getaway - It had everything supplied Having to park the car under a gum tree
- Anonymous (10/5): We enjoyed a restful few days, walking around the Lake, the bird life and enjoyed the comfort of The Dairy we marked it - We enjoyed the peace and outlook overlooking garden and Lake Nil
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Loved that everything was supplied, we went and brought milk as every accommodation we stay at uses the horrible cupboard milk, to our surprise they had real milk in fridge and fresh wholesome bread with condiments bread teas and coffee, maybe need to fix the tin gate and provide bigger parking
- Peter (10/5): Beautiful cottage with nice quality touches everywhere. Loved it. - Nice quality touches everywhere. Nothing
- Gabrielle (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful setting, loved the welcoming feel to the cottage. An easy walk to the Q Train around the lovely lake was a bonus.
- Ross (10/5): Exceptional - The bed was very comfy but the coverings were such that we were a little too hot. However, that didn't stop us from having good sleeps.
- Barb (10/5): Relaxing , comforts of home - The amazing freshness when I opened the door and the chocolate Ty so special and all the little details like amazing shampoo ,candles fresh fruit, milo, milk the list could go on,attention to detail Nothing
- Anonymous (10/5): What a great place to spend a couple of days on the Bellerive Penninsula, we couldn’t have asked for better, and awesome - A great location, nice and cosy with everything we needed. N/a
- Lynda (9/5): Superb -
