Guest Reviews
- Ewelina (7/5): - Very cosy place with unique atmosphere both outdoor and interior. For sure we'd like to spend there more time if we could :) very green, nice garden, very cosy interior, nice kitchen and living room to hang up together in the evening. For sure I reccommend. But maybe not for people who are very affraid of spiders and other "bush little animals" :) If there could be cleaner it would be nicer because we've met a lot of friends like spiders, cockroaches, and other. It is not a big problem for us so there was still very nice but I think it would be nice to clean the house thoroughly
- Jie (9/5): - Very good location. Very kindly host.
- Sally (7/5): -
- Rhonda (8/5): -
- Susan (7/5): We found the driveway and stairs to be a problem in the rain. - Property was large enough for a group of people.
Well equipped facilities. The driveway was so steep that our Toyota Corolla front bumper stuck as soon as we attempted to turn in. When we kept driving to attempt to enter from the rear, we couldn’t find the property at all. After asking locals we eventually found a side street to park in. This meant carrying our bags quite a distance from the car and up the very steep driveway and steps. It was raining, which added to the risk of falling.
It’s a lovely setting, but do take the warnings about the steep driveway and several flights of stairs seriously. If your car isn’t a 4WD with good clearance you’ll have difficulty.
- CHI-HSUN (10/5): -
- Siqi (9/5): - Great location and wonderful place. Saw amazing birds on our bedroom balcony! The drive way is extremely steep
- Martha (8/5): -
- Lisa (9/5): Warm, comfortable home from home - Beautiful character house set on the hill side amongst the vegetation
Spacious rooms
Great kitchen
Lots of games and tv’s
2 bathrooms were great The drive way is very steep. There are a lot of steep stairs, wouldn’t be suitable to take my elderly parents
- Alison (8/5): A good space for family but difficult to park multiple.cars - Spacious and with entertainment like games, books, etc. The steep driveway and narrow shared driveway
- Louise (8/5): Our family group had a wonderful stay enjoying the writers festival, cafes and local walks. - The accommodation is well situated and walking distance to both Katoomba and Leura villages. The bush and garden setting is peaceful and relaxing and can be enjoyed from a front deck. The house easily accommodates our family group including our canine member. The property is located on a steep slope with multiple steps up to the house. This allows tree top views from the house however will not be suitable for individuals with mobility limitations on stairs.
- Karen (10/5): Quirky, homely and just perfect for us! We loved it! - It was amazing, so quirky and it just kept on giving. Had everything we needed and more! Location was great. We weren’t brave enough to park on the drive but easy close street parking. We loved this house and will definitely rebook if we are lucky enough to visit Australia and the Blue Mountains again. Nothing, it was all round amazing!
- Michael (10/5): -
- Julie Masters (9/5): -
- George Dragon (9/5): Feels like home. - The place has a homely feel. It's spacious yet cozy. Very functional as a home. We cooked meals and enjoyed the secret garden views from the kitchen. Central floor heating vents kept us toasty. Our 5yr old puppy loved the garden with its many narrow paths for sniffs. We would stay again! This was mentioned by our hosts but the driveway is let's say challenging. Entry is narrow and steep but I did manage to park an SUV and a sedan in the two garages by reversing in. Recommend entering via driveway at 2 Lett and reverse into garage. Then exit via 6 Lett.
- Claire (8/5): Very good - Great location & spacious The steep driveway
- James (10/5): Amazing place in the hills, and right near the main blue mountain attractions - Very homely and comfortable. An old-style house in the hills. We loved staying there. It was maybe a little tired with a need to treat the wooden balconies. I think it’s tricky as the trees protect it from loads of sun. Despite this we loved it.
- Seraphita (10/5): Exceptional - The house was like a home away from home. It provided us all with a perfect sanctuary. I booked last minute on a Sunday, everything was made so easy by the hosts on arrival. I highly recommend this property and look forward to making this property a regular stay. Excellent all round.
- Hoang (9/5): Superb - Lovely spot and cosy place right in Katoomba.
- Lucy (9/5): Superb -
- Anita (7/5): Good - Loved the atmosphere of the house and the house was well equiped to provide us with a comfortable stay. It was mentioned that the driveway is steep, but we find it too challenging with our big car (Kia Carnival) and ended up parking at the back of the property. When raining, the footpath to the back of the property is quite slippery and one needs to be careful not too slip.
- Richard (9/5): Superb - Very homey feel. It is a real home… not a money making enterprise. Lots of character to the place. Enchanted gardens! Step steps. But worth it.
- Ioannis (9/5): Superb -
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional - The house was a short walk into Katoomba, which suited us perfectly. Big rooms, with comfortable beds and plenty of space. Loved the arcade game in the kitchen too. Beautiful garden surrounds and hidden from neighbours so you felt you were on your own. Just a heads up the drive up to the house is steep. This is not a negative just a warning for those that might not be used to this.
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hayley (10/5): Perfect getaway for the whole family and pets too definitely will be back -
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jake (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable, clean, cosy and perfect for a big group
- Valerie (8/5): Like being at home but on the side of a mountain. The yard was nice. - spacious with a massive tv. perfect for watching the Olympics. nice big kitchen. The goat hill from both directions. This was a bit testy for our 88 year old limited mobility grandma.
The house was cold but easy to warm up the main parts of the house.
The driveway is very steep- don’t try to turn right off the main road from the bottom. It’s hard on your car bottom.
- Danielle (9/5): Lovely comfortable cottage - We loved our stay, very nice house, really well located near to everything.
The house is very comfortable, the heating works really well.
- Zhuxi (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms are cosy and the secret garden is beautiful. The driveway is scary. Suggest future guests to drive up from the neighbor's drive way.
- Jamie (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic spacious house ideal for group trips. Nicely decorated, great front room with big TV and a separate games room. Bathrooms were nice and showers great. Great location close to Katoomba which is what we needed. Nothing really! Only slight comment would be check out could be later.
- Jrobyn (9/5): We had a wonderful time in Katoomba and at the Black Cockatoo - We enjoyed the layout of the house and living areas, the number of bedrooms and the piano was enjoyed by the children. General facilities and garden and being among the trees were special. I found the stairs and steepness of the property difficult but younger members of the family were all fine with it. Steepness of driveway also difficult and carrying luggage to the house, but we coped.
- Cate (7/5): Very roomy and comfortable home, great for large group - Bedrooms were roomy
Kitchen was functional
Wine and biscuits nice gesture
Good heating Stairs both below and above the outside property were a little hazardous, especially carrying cots, babies and luggage up and down.
Sliding door from kitchen to lounge area has come off the runners
- Hannah (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sean (10/5): Lovely relaxing stay - Lovely beautiful property with great kitchen and gardens. Loved the big TV and the Proscecco was a wonderful surprise. The fridge door handle was broken, which made opening a bit awkward.
- Michele (7/5): Good -
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philip (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (7/5): Enjoyable stay in lovely house - A very unique treetop house Access was a little difficult (driveway) on first attempt (it was also raining which didn’t help) however was ok after that.
- Bonney (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (10/5): Great place to bond and relax with your loved ones. - The view, the whole ambience of the house makes you want to stay inside and just enjoy the house. The steep stairs and the narrow driveway.
- Christine (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (8/5): Lovely house set in trees with plenty of options for a small or a large group. - Great location, close to Katoomba. Lots of rooms and options for people to sleep. Some people reported that the access was steep, but we didn't have any problems parking or getting to the property. There's space for 2-3 cars. My 2 teenage kids appreciated the tim tams! Overall the house was clean, but it could have been a bit cleaner, although this didn't affect the enjoyment of our stay. There was some frozen lettuce stuck at the back of the fridge and my son had some lipstick on his fresh towel. (He doesn't use any lipstick!)
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maggie (8/5): a very comfortable 2 nights and a chance to show an overseas family member the beautiful Blue Mountains - location, facilities, comfort, cute building and fabulous outlook access a bit of a challenge but not really a problem for the fit and nimble
- Ayushi (7/5): Good -
- Brett (8/5): I recharged my batteries - Trees Drive way and stairs were challenging
- Lu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samantha (8/5): Great stay - Great garden, stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and clean Need to access via stairs or steep drive way
- Nigel (7/5): I loves the location and elevated position in the tree tops. we had old freinds with us and they lov - Good location
- Michael (10/5): Restful, not long enough. - Fantastic location, central to Katoomba but because of its position the house feels as if it’s deep in the bush. Lovely. Nothing of note.
- Sheenah (10/5): Homely mountain stay - Such a lovely welcoming home. Beautiful hosts ensure your stay is enjoyable. Truly there are no drawbacks. You just need to have a certain level of fitness to walk up and down stairs.
- Dario (10/5): Exceptional - Outside area at night with the fire
- Paula (9/5): Superb - Spacious, clean, family and dog friendly accommodation in a wonderful location.
- Anonymous (6/5): Appreciated clean bedding and towels but overall cleanliness and finishing can further improve - Clean bedding and towels . Floor and sofas were dusty . Surfaces can be cleaners / fixed . Curtains has spots and not hanged properly. There was a dripping tap in the upper toilets . With the current price point these short coming are not acceptable .
- Tony (8/5): place was ok, but mistaken with number of nights stay. as a result the fee turned out to be pricey. -
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jean (7/5): Good -
- Ugo (7/5): good - the access
- Robyn (9/5): We had a lovely relaxing stay and can thoroughly recommend. The owners are very helpful. - Loved the quirky, cosy feel of the place. Plenty of space for everyone to be together or apart. All utensils supplied. Gas heating system plus A/C units good. 5 minutes drive to town. 2 bathrooms a plus. Comfy loungeroom with smart TV. I don't think anything could have been changed to make it any better. As warned by the owners, access is very steep via 3 sets of stairs which is a bit of a challenge when carrying things up to the house but that can't be changed so just be aware. We were only there for 2 nights so just amused ourselves indoors so we didn't have to use the stairs too often. Also, be careful of the bottom stair coming down from the top floor bedroom as it blends in with the colour of the floor of the landing and is easy to trip.
- Dipika (10/5): Staying at the black cockatoo was an amazing experience. Clean and beautiful place . - The location was great just a few min drive to reach the echo point and scenic world.
- Craig (8/5): Very good - The house was spacious and cosy, with plenty of heat to keep us warm, with the exotic gardens being a nice little piece of Zen. The stairs and the driveway are very challenging, so much so that because we weren't warned of the driveway our rental got pretty scratched up
- Bridget (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shih-chieh (9/5): We have a family trip to visit blue mountain. We stay one night in Katoomba at this sweet property. -
- Dubbo (9/5): great stay in a good location. Excellent facilities including underfloor heating which is necessary in this location. - A big house with full facilities.
Plenty of room for children to run around. The steep drive and many stairs to the house would not be suitable for people with limited mobility. As well there are multiple levels in the house.
Suggest that owners provide a diagram of access to the driveway and garage as it is hidden if approached from one direction.
- Ashish (3/5): Poor -
- Syed (10/5): Best Themed & Environment - Theme was very nice Some extra charge even we didn't used more than 3 rooms
- Chris (10/5): nice and quiet - plenty of room no wine glasses(2 very old ones), could only leave1 window open in the top bedroom as no fly screens.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Janna (8/5): Very good - Driveway was tricky
- Gregory (9/5): Superb -
- Warren (9/5): Superb - Garden and views from balconies. Parking was a bit difficult, but we managed.
- Marilyn (9/5): Very clean and comfortable house, excellent communication from the hosts. - setting among the trees, spaciousness, facilities - huge tv and very good wifi, cleanliness, thoughtful touches in the kitchen The hosts warned that access could be challenging and we did find that, in so far as the driveway is tight and very steep and access from either back or front involved a lot of steps. The upside of the steep access however, was the delight of being nestled in the bush.
- Jeffrey (10/5): Exceptional - Good location. Driveway a little tricky.
- Gagan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jackielyn (5/5): it was fair - it’s very close to the station there were lots of mosquito and the parking is very difficult
- Geordie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Divit (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jade (8/5): Great for groups - The house was really well kept and very homely plus had a great outdoor entertainment area There were a few mattresses that were fairly worn out and could do with replacing but it wasn’t a huge issue
- Suleiman (9/5): Convenient stay. Would do again! - The place has a good and loving ambiance.
- Amelia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sangeeta (8/5): Great for spending time with closed ones, however nota place if you want to catch up on your sleep - Interiors

Amenities No locks on bedrooms or bathrooms
