Guest Reviews
- Stenning (10/5): Beautiful loft for a beautiful town, only wished we had stayed longer! - Excellent location, loft was clean and thoughtfully decorated. We loved the local bath products. Accessing the unit was very easy. No problems with parking. Hosts were easy to contact if needed and checked in with us on our stay. No complaints!
- Nikki (6/5): Think ski lodge at the beach. Could be cute but not the quiet getaway we tried for. - Location can’t be beat as it’s literally next to the Wild Pacific Trail and steps from Terrace Beach. Unique suites on stilts set up for holidaying. A couple of nice touches that other places could often miss - big ceramic coffee mugs as well as all ways of brewing coffee and tea was much appreciated. The place felt very very clean and there was no shortage of extra pillows and blankets. This was on the road side in what is best described as apartments. Think ski lodge accessibility with dated, narrow stairs to get to the suite. Parking was non-existent at times and we had to wedge ourselves into the Trail lot next door which we didn’t know was ‘legal’ or not. The property absolutely has to fix the slope going from the side ramp to the lot - it was a nightmare getting stuff up to and then out of the suite. No elderly people, injured people or weak people could do stay here really. The ad says parking for 2 cars?? This was November and the lot was packed!
The main complaint —- Very very loud from the other guests. We could hear every word of their conversation. They had little kids running up and down the stairs and the dogs barked at the door at any movement from us.
The owner does try and properly describe the ‘rustic’ part so we didn’t feel bamboozled but .. the stairs are not awesome in the dark of night as they certainly aren’t to code.
There was no microwave (weird) and the tv is very small. For winter visits, you just want to hunker down after a day of wet beach combing but there is just one couch and nowhere to chill. We utilized the sofabed as a daybed (you would NEVER want to sleep on it!). The lighting was kind of all or nothing. There is a string of those fun, warm patio bulbs in the kitchen however - you have to stand on the stool to plug them in only to find only three bulbs work.
Most of our issues were NOT controllable by the owners - it was the fact that this wasn’t the quiet, toasty, beachfront getaway we were seeking and part of that is our research - it’s just there are small things the owner could do to this property to tweak it considering what one pays these days. $1000+ for 3 nights - late check-in and early check-out does not help the feel of the being gouged just a smidge. But, again - this property isn’t being out of touch with the going rate in Ukee.
- Karin (8/5): Very good -
