Guest Reviews
- Rowan (9/5): Great cottage, great host, Walhalla is a most see and worth at least two days stay. Possibly one of the most unique and - Quiet, a lot of old style charm. Warm and comfortable. Nothing.
- amanda (8/5): - Wonderfully positioned. Everything a cottage should be
Fireplace was perfect and bed really comfortable. It was particularly stunning in Autumn and the night sky without light pollution was a panacea of glorious stars you would never get to see in the city. Township is extremely quiet so I would advice a visit to behold the stillness and peace. We will be back Bring some extra food there is a great Lil pub and cafe but a little extra never hurt
- Dean (10/5): Lovely and quiet, comfy and cozy.. - The property was perfect for just sitting and reading and close enough to walk anywhere in town !
- Bharpur (10/5): -
- LOREDANA (10/5): -
- Mike (5/5): - Great location. Place needs a good clean. Also some of the outside furniture is needing replacement. A bit of tlc and the place would be great.
- Sachie (10/5): - Very cosy comfortable little cottage The water has a taste and a slight yellow colour
- Narelle (10/5): -
- Lil (7/5): Walhalla is amazing, unique and situated in a stunning valley. So much history in a picturesque lic - The location and the quiet. A beautiful setting We couldn’t get the slow combustion fire to draw so the ambience of an old, rustic house was missing, and cold frosty nights made it hard to heat
- Sharni (10/5): - All of it, it was fantastic. The easiest, most welcome, cozy and quaint place we've ever stayed at.
Thank you
- DallD (9/5): -
- Adrian (9/5): -
- Daryl (8/5): good - Tuesdays nothing open in town.
- anna (7/5): The main house is terrific for a couple - Great location and experience to stay in a historic town-owner very responsive The studio attached to the house was damp and smelled very musty
- Jon (10/5): - Really charming and old fashioned but with plenty of modern comfort touches as well. Plenty of space for our family of four. Very quiet but only a short walk to the middle of Walhalla.
- Gina (9/5): Cosy, quiet little cottage in a picturesque, charming old gold mining town. - One of a kind location. Old time feel in the cosy cottage. Had enough facilities. Host accomodating and helpful. It needs a deep clean. Not ideal for a dust allergy, but as the property is old it was expected to be dusty. It would have been better if surfaces and nooks and crannys were dusted and cleaned. It would benefit from some updated kitchen facilities.
- Kerry (8/5): - Cute little cottage. Close walking distance to everything in town
- David (9/5): -
- Joan (8/5): it was good - the bed was very comfortable, it was wonderfully quiet, it was all we needed as we were walking each day the shower and vanity could have been a little bit cleaner, and the kitchen drawers could be cleaner
- Ron & Robyn (8/5): Nice property in lovely historic town - Nice & quiet
- Melissa (7/5): - Very cute little cottage.
- John (7/5): We enjoyed our stay despite a few niggles. - Location was excellent and it was snug. The bed was very comfortable and the garden was very pretty. And the heating provided was good without necessarily using the combustion heater but it was there if required It possibly needs a deep clean and we found some of the pots hadn’t been cleaned. There was a real musty smell but recognising it’s an old historic home which may have contributed to this.
- Louise (10/5): The stay was amazing and Nathan was very communicative and attentive. We loved our time there! - The accommodation was very well appointed and the beds were very comfortable. We loved the decor and it felt like stepping into another period in time but still having the modern comforts The only issue we had was the kettle being a bit rusty but we made do to make coffees with a pot on the stove
- Mersina (9/5): -
- Sarah (7/5): Quaint cottage, old fashioned charm - Good location and easy enough to get to Mount BawBaw, cozy, homely, old fashioned charm, much cheaper than staying up the mountain The pub stops taking meal orders at 7pm on a Friday night, nearly missed out. Bit of an ant problem, but there was spray provided to tackle them. Google maps does not give the correct location, it is further along the street and on the other side of the road.
- Norman (9/5): -
- Simon (7/5): -
- Anne (8/5): Homely country Walhalla cottage - Cute little miners cottage in the incredibly scenic and historical village of Walhalla. Enjoyed a relaxing winter weekend at Jacomb’s which is well equipped with pretty much everything you need for a couple of days away from home. Great spot within walking distance to popular sites like the Walhalla cricket ground and historic cemetery. Would be awesome to use the deck and garden area in better weather.
- Warren (9/5): Beautifully presented and great location. Easy to walk to everything - Location great. Fit out and all amenities in cottage were very good.
Loved the true sense of the cottage had been retained but had modern heating etc. and what you need for a getaway.
- ParizovaKocka (10/5): - Host very helpful when we locked ourselves out.
- Georgia (10/5): -
- Gillian (9/5): -
- Gaurav (7/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): Would recommend this property to any visitors to Walhalla - Loved the historical cottage and its facilities. Nothing
- Damanjeet (10/5): The host were amazing , in terms of customer service and also facilities provided - Beautiful old charm property , feels very comfy n cosy Little more clean outdoor ,
- Virag (10/5): Excellent cottage, excellent host - We had a wonderful stay at Nathan’s lovely cottage in Walhalla. Big thanks to him for the clear and thoughtful instructions provided before our arrival, which made everything seamless. The cottage was cozy, clean, and beautifully maintained, with a fully equipped kitchen and everything in perfect working order. It is ideally locate, just a short walk to all the charming spots in the town. We especially loved the fireplace, which added so much warmth and coziness to our stay. Nathan also checked in during our visit to ensure everything was going well, which we really appreciated. Highly recommend this peaceful retreat! Na
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely adorable cottage - beautiful old kitchen. The whole cottage was very charming and cozy! Fire place works fantastically in the wintertime. Nathan was very helpful and welcoming.
- Megan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Menich (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jon (10/5): Superb few days in Walhalla - The cosiness of the place was incredible. A perfect getaway. Great facilities and superb place to sit infront of the fire and relax. Nothing, it was actually perfect. Will go back again!
- John (8/5): Lovely town and great weather - Lovely and warm!Nothing
- Bird (10/5): We had a great weekend - Great property and Host Holiday weekend was very busy in terms of traffic
- Elia (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was comfortable and quiet. It was easy to get around everywhere.
- Bronwen (9/5): A step back in Time. - We loved the historical character of the cottage together with modern conveniences that made our stay enjoyable. Whilst it doesn't relate to the cottage, the uncontrollable event of the weather was unfortunate.
- Christine (6/5): Only came for train ride .other places example ghost house ,gold mine, cemet suitable for young child - We’re not offered breakfast More placed to buy food
- Irene (8/5): A charming & picturesque town full of history & walking trails. -
- Sandra (1/5): Bad - Very cute cottage. In a great location. Both the cottage and the studio had an awful musty smell that ruined our 2 nights there. We avoided staying there as much as possible due to the smell. Not sure what it was.
- Bradd (9/5): Superb -
- Kelvin (9/5): Superb - Very clean and the owner, Nathan, gave us some very good advice before we arrived regarding the availability of meals etc in the township. It's an easy walk to the township from the cottage.
- Renee (8/5): A change of pace with a cosy stay at Jacomb's Cottage - Nathan was very helpful and sent communication prior about things we needed to know such as where the last petrol station and store was on the way to the property. There were plenty of blankets, the freplace was was exquisite and even though it rained most of our stay we were incredibly comfortable at Jacomb's Cottage. Nothing to comment on about what we didn't like really. The limitations of the place are also what makes it authentic and quaint. It's not supposed to be a 5 star, boring post modern hotel room replica.
- Rene (8/5): Great for a short stay in a place where there are not too many accommodation options. A bit pricy. - Breakfast n/a. Location was perfect. A couple of lights did not work. The freezer compartment of the fridge was frozen up completely and was initially unable to use.
- Mobley (1/5): Bad -
- Peggy (10/5): A tranquil, relaxing location that was very interesting place to explore on foot & discover its fascinating history. - Tranquil surrounding enabling us to relax on our holiday. Great location as Walhalla is a very walkable town to explore. Plenty of things to do but also a great place to relax & enjoy down time from a busy life. Nothing. The weather was ideal so we didn’t need to use heating or cooling or the wood heater.
- Len (10/5): Great cottage & communication with Nathan - Quiet area & plenty of space walking distance to all eateries and tourist spots. Nothing
- Deborah (7/5): Good -
- Betros (7/5): Good - Wood fire heater and supply of logs
Little extras - dvds, CD’s, lovely variety of tea. Bit of a musty smell
Extra studio room cold
- Alison (9/5): Superb -
- Huma (8/5): Very good -
- Nakeshia (9/5): Cosy cottage in a beautiful wooded valley - Gorgeous cosy cottage in an absolutely beautiful part of the world A few areas in the cottage were a bit dusty with a few dead bugs but that's expected in a bush setting
- Slattery (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shubh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janette (8/5): Enjoyed a great quiet break. - No breakfast provided
- Christine (9/5): A cute cottage for a weekend getaway - Great location
- Fleur (10/5): Peaceful and super comfortable, great location in a beautiful little village. - Warm, cosy and filled with character
- Virginia (9/5): Very enjoyable and comfortable stay. - Loved the quaint cottage style with pretty garden. Easy access, great location. Warm and cosy with fireplace and other heating. We had everything we needed in the kitchen.
- Gale (9/5): Superb - Cozy vibe. Great location.
- Brian (10/5): A piece of history in a classic town away from everything. - The property is a perfect get away for two. The self contained cottage has everything you need. The surrounding countryside is sublime. The atmosphere is full of history. The train ride from Walhalla to Thompson River is a must. There are also gold mine tours; bush walks; ghost tours and more. Loved the property
- Matteo (2/5): AS ABOVE - Walhalla is a beautiful location The fact that when we booked, the host did not mention that there would be a planned AUSNET power shutdown (the whole town) smack in the middle of our three days stay. Unable to use any water hot or cold, unable to flush toilet, no heating apart from the very old wood heater, that when used it would emit an awful amount of smoke from the right-hand side of heater due to distortion of metal (2-inch gap).
- Annette (10/5): Cosy & comfortable - Cosy and comfortable cottage Can’t think of anything wrong with this place
- Graeme (10/5): Great place to stay - Great location. Very nice breakfast Our stay was too short
- Laszlo (8/5): Convenient location, with an old world feel. - The location was great. It cottage was spacious. Lots of ways of heating the cottage, was excellent. Loved the open fire. The kitchen was well stocked too. The furnishings and fittings were a bit tired.
- Laura (10/5): Amazing! We will never forget our holiday to Walhalla - Amazing! We had such a great family holiday, it was cozy and such an interesting town. Awesome communication with the host, couldn’t fault a thing.
- Curtis (10/5): Absolutely loved it, would stay again - Very cozy, original little building
- Neil (8/5): Lovely old cottage, in a beautiful unique town. - The location was very good. A very nice cottage. The Kitchen was well equipped. Amazing hot water for a shower. Queen bed in main cottage was very comfortable. Very nice place to stay for a couple or a group of adults, or family with older children. You need to make sure when booking to look at the floor plan as we were traveling with our grandchildren under5yrs of age and the detached studio was useless to us. Thus it was not value for money as we had to use the sofa bed in the main cottage. I admit if we had checked i would not have stayed here. The oven desperately needs a clean, and i would of appreciated hand towels and face washers and a box of tissues were supplied, especially considering the price being asked per night.
- Ann (9/5): Superb -
- David (9/5): Was terrific thankyou; a great town and exceeded expectations. - The location and standard of accommodation. N/A
- Mcdermott (9/5): We had a lovely stay at Jacomb’s Cottage. A cosy & homely place that’s very much in keeping with the historical feel - Cosy and homely cottage that is very in keeping with the historical feel of the town. There were quite a few ants in the bathroom & the TV wasn’t working
- Alice (9/5): Comfortable and Relaxing - Lovely, little period cottage perfect for a couple or small group of friends. Very comfortable and peaceful. Our group of four had a wonderful time and would happily return. The only downside was no toilet in the studio. We knew about this beforehand but that would be the only improvement I could think of.
- Kim (10/5): Comfortable and cosy - Loved the house, cute, comfortable, and clean. Had everything we needed, the kitchen is well equipped, does have a full sized oven and, loved the little extras supplied. So warm and comfortable, close distance to everything in township. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.
- Liz (10/5): Idyllic Cottage - Such an idyllic cottage in my favourite town in Victoria. Just perfect for our family getaway. Walking distance to everything Walhalla has to offer.
- Pieter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (8/5): A wonderful & happy stay and would definitely stay here again. - The location is awesome. The cottage is very quaint and comfortable. The porch area is lovely. The garden lovely and green. The chocolates were a nice surprise in the kitchen. Tea/Coffee supplies muchly appreciated as was the cold water in the fridge. The water pressure and hot showers were fabulous. The games and books were an added bonus. Better instructions on how to operate the Smart TV. The step up to the porch area is a bit high especially for older folk or somebody in a wheelchair or using a walker or walking stick. The ground around the big tree in the front is very uneven and a hazard. The shower leaks out onto the floor of the bathroom and needs attention.
- Wilson (8/5): Very good -
- Heather (9/5): A quaint place to visit - Comfortable and peaceful.
- Wickramasinghe (7/5): Good -
- Michele (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): An excellent place to stay, with Walhalla being a true destination. - The cottage was perfect. We couldn't have found a more lovely place to stay. Located in the northern end of town, very quiet, but still within easy walking distance of the main township and tourist trails. Host extremely helpful. Having to go home.
- Tania (9/5): Jacombs Cottage is comfortable and clean set in the beautiful surrounds of Walhalla. - Beautiful location and walking distance into town. The cottage was clean and comfortable with an attractive, lush front garden. We enjoyed a quick game of scrabble during a relaxing, quiet evening. Highly recommend the mine tour.
- Derrick (4/5): Enjoyed our stay as it was Walhalla but doubt we would return to Jacombs Cottage. The Star Hotel i - Location was good we have been to Walhalla many times. Cottage was quite unclean. Shower was a disgrace when the water ran down lots of black particles came out from under the screens. Toilet was not much better and the toilet brush looked like it hadn’t been cleaned at all fortunately did not have to use it. All skirting boards were filthy and walls need a good wipe down. Behind the mirror in the bathroom was absolutely filthy. The place needs a real good spring clean. Problem here would be putting your trust in a cleaner to keep the place clean but not being able to check on the standard of cleaning. Sheets etc were clean but cleaning was just limited to the main service areas.
- Catherine (10/5): Peaceful quiet beautiful - The location was so peaceful and quiet
From the deck near the front door all you heard was a burbling creek and birds
It was lovely sitting in front of the pot bellied stove too Nothing
- Malki (8/5): Very good -
- Frank (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (8/5): Quaint cottage well provisioned with comfortable bed perfect for a get away relaxing break - Fab location. Well looked after. Well equiped. Clean and beds comfortable. The cottage is comfortable, beautiful and well worth a stay. Nothing really. Would just suggest bit of work needed in garden which is a little overgrown with weeds and some bushes need trimming back , which can make the place feel dark, but inside is well lit and cozy anyway.
- Mandy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (9/5): Superb - Quiet and peaceful
- Kate (9/5): we had a great stay. - A lovely, quaint, cosy cottage that had everything we needed.
walking distance to everything. Very clean.
- Alison (9/5): Superb - Very cute old style cottage with modern comforts. We loved sitting on the verandah listening to all the birds & relaxing. The wood fire kept the lounge & bedroom cosy. The shower makes a loud noise. The Wally pub closed at 7.45 pm on a Saturday night, being the only dining option this isn't good.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (7/5): peaceful quaint cottage - Excellent location very quiet Biggest problem the Bed needs to be upgraded it is Very hard not comfortable also the lounge and chairs need upgrading
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
