Guest Reviews
- Maia (8/5): We enjoyed our time very much. - It was very rustic with awesome decor. The fireplace was ready to light and enjoy.
- Belinda (8/5): -
- Jacqui (1/5): Disappointing and stressful. Having to find and pay for New accommodation late in the afternoon! - The property was so musty that it set off all of my allergies within 20 minutes. We could not stay.
Have not heard a word since we left.
Ask for a refund via Booking.com - nothing!
Asked directly to the email of the host - nothing!
Very disappointed. Feel ignored. The fact that we have had absolutely no response to our emails requesting either a full or even partial refund!
- Joseph (10/5): Lovely part of the world to disconnect. The feel of the property just made my weekend. - It was a lovely old church, and the welcome by Wilson (who had dinner in the fridge) was really lovely.
He helped me solve a few problems I had (transport & firewood) and also directed me to the best coffee in the area! Nothing.
- Adrian (10/5): - Dog friendly, fully self contained, beautiful finishing touches, and pasta meal
- Guest (8/5): -
- James (2/5): Great location - Location No regular maintenance on the property. Exposed wires on the electrical heater in bedroom. Broken tap in kitchen , lock into bathroom, cobwebs all over ceiling. General maintenance needs attention.

- Eleanor (10/5): -
- Jessica (9/5): A wonderful relaxing place to stay, full of character, surrounded by beautiful scenery and wildlife - We really enjoyed our stay in the old church! The character of the place, the back deck and comfy bed, as well as the friendly helpful host were highlights.
- Ben (9/5): Unique stay in a beautiful spot. - Unique and charming bnb, great location, very friendly hosts (who also provide a yummy pasta dinner).

- Tania (10/5): Amazing - The church was so tranquil I wanting to get away from the busyness of the world and this place ticked all the boxes. My kids 11 and 10 loved walking our dog and looking at the wild life taking photos.
They played chess and played with the CD collection on site. They loved the mezzanine and the bed up there, however slept downstairs near us.
The owners were super nice. The fridge wasn’t working and they changed it out straight away.
The owners made a meal, was super thoughtful.
Would recommend staying here for families who want something a little different. Nothing

- Thorsten (10/5): Ein schönes Schmuckstück für Liebhaber. Sehr empfehlenswert. - Sehr liebevoll hergerichtete alte Kirche.
- Jamie (8/5): Absolute charm - Unique place to stay. Wonderful Hosts. Breathtaking surroundings. Interior decoration 10/10 Possibly some more security around the property. Property could use a coat of paint on the exterior.
- Liz (8/5): My daughter, daughter in law and myself all enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous and unique little church in a beautiful pa - The old church is so cute and comfortable Mostly is was lovely, but, a few areas needed a bit of a clean, green moss growing on the under side of outdoor chairs, dirty areas around the kitchen bin and fridge, cobwebs inside but mostly outside. Wall panelling in my room needs to be fixed on one side. One of the beds weren’t made up, Only 3 matches to light fires and BBQ, 2 tea bags for 3 tea drinkers, but there was plenty of coffee, herbal tea and sugar, just little things, but, we paid good money for one night and didn’t expect to have to chase up the small stuff.
- Sandy (9/5): - Beautiful spot . Lovely old church great outdoor deck under beautiful trees Rooftop whirly gig kept us up ue to squeaking noise. Face flannels would be nice with the towels and a floor mat.
- Aimee (8/5): We loved it it was perfect for what we needed. - The energy at this property was off the charts Needs a deep clean, but I’m saying that it’s a very old building and is just lovely
- McCaffrey (8/5): -
- Emma (10/5): Another weekend away soon - One of my favourite places to staycation in the Hinterland along with their other accommodations in their Clouds Beechmont brand but the church is my fav Absolutely nothing
- Tracey (10/5): -
- Gillian (8/5): A wonderful stay in a quirky church in beautiful surroundings. We loved it - What a welcome as we went through the door! The outside decking area could have been cleaner
- Adrienne (10/5): Comfortable stay, full of ambience and charm, great location and facilities, coffee machine! -
- Narda (9/5): A true sanctuary for the soul - Loved the respect shown in the restoration to this Church’s history!!! Such a peaceful & magical vibe.
Also, the delish vegan pasta made for us with the delivery of fresh homegrown Italian parsley was incredibly kind!! A few maintenance issues but definitely not a deal breaker. Provided the feedback respectfully & Host replied respectfully. So lovely nowadays.
- Leonie (10/5): It was great .great atmosphere decorated great - Verything great place Nothing very thing was good
- Susantha (8/5): Overall good accommodation. Recommends for others. - Location. Easy access. Quiet area. Exterior walls should be clean. Mobile signal week.

- Leanne (8/5): -
- Hayley (5/5): - Location was beautiful & the church was unique & very cute.
The home made meal was lovely. It needs & paint & clean (many cob webs).
Need bath mats. A little bottle of milk in the fridge would be nice.
- Bella (10/5): This was such a lovely and unique cottage and we would definitely visit again. Everything was wonderful! - It was beautiful & charming!
- Cav (8/5): - Place is great and stylishly furnished and renovated. Lovely location, owners are fantastic and the rooms are comfortable. We were very happy. It was a bit cold, and I realise that it's hard to heat up and wood costs money, but what can I say, it wasn't freezing but wasn't toasty either. Maybe a bigger wood heater? The aircon didn't seem to have an impact.
I'd still recommend it though.
- Jenine (7/5): Unique - Location and the home cooked meal. The property could use a little maintenance both inside and out.
- Tania (10/5): Exceptional - Unique, quiet, plenty of activities on offer for a quiet night in, firewood included. Fantastic hosts.
- Shane (10/5): Exceptional - 3rd time staying with clouds and first in church. We keep returning here because Wilson is so good to communicate with both online during booking and again when greeting you on arrival. Each and everytime we've been given a complimentary homemade and absolutely delicious tomato olive and caper pasta sauce and bag of fettuccini to suit. Church accommodation is absolutely amazing, and like all other rooms filled with board and card games, huge variety of DVDs to watch, any and all kinds of cooking equipment. Great host, great value great location, and pet friendly and welcoming. We will continue to return here why we can when we can and we only live 30mins away because it's truly a home away from home. Thankyou again and look forward to staying again soon. That we have to leave eventually when our stay is up, and it's not my home lol
- Alicia (10/5): Excellent, unique and cosy. - Such a unique accomodation experience. Highly recommend. A perfect place to escape the city.
- Amy (9/5): Fabulous unique stay - Fabulous unique stay. The owners had turned on the heating, lights and music to welcome us and even provided a home cooked meal
- Andre (9/5): Superb -
- Morgane (10/5): Amazing stay - First of all, the owner of this church was very nice, brought us fire wood, there was pasta and vegan sauce in the fridge. The house itself is cozy and peaceful. You have everything you need to spent a nice evening (games, music, movies..) Nothing to say
- Debbie (8/5): Next visit will be nearer the warmer months! Hosts were very nice. - Beautiful old church. Had some beautiful items in the church. The cold weather!!
- Emily (7/5): Lovely stay with family, something different! Cosy by the fire, read, watch movie. - Historical building, uniqueness, fireplace Perhaps new mattresses in each beds, church needs some TLC. Patch up some things, gurni outside, gutters and lockable bathroom window. Keep the building going for many more years.
- Maree (9/5): Loved the whole church atmosphere and the owners were very helpful with their detailed instructions and quick responses. - The church theme. Lots of interesting old treasures. The quirky atmosphere and the delicious pasta dish on our arrival.
- Judy (9/5): Superb - A quaint renovated church in a lovely part of the world. We were cosy with a fire and all we needed. Owners relaxed, helpful and welcoming. Our 3rd bed was a divan and not particularly comfortable.
- Jackie (5/5): Passable - Convenient location for our family celebration. Old St John’s Church is a little tired and more “holy” than you think - windows, floor, even towels! However, we did enjoy our stay creating new family memories.
- Turloch (8/5): Very good - Hosts were terrific with our last minute booking.
- Julie (9/5): Superb -
- Conor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kayleigh (10/5): Amazing once in a life time experience - Amazing experience! Can tick it off the bucket list. The antiques and furnishings and everything was a great experience we can tick this off my bucket list!
- Jenni (3/5): Very disappointing.fiendly hosts but property needs a lot of work to bring it up to standards particularly the bathroom - Good location for our trip Very quirky and very run down. Distinctive smell that was very off putting. Lots of rotting around window sills
- Meme (9/5): Exceptional ambience - Environment

- Julie (7/5): Good - The accommodation had a lot of quirky atmosphere and decoration suited the building, The host visited briefly to check we had everything we needed, which was a good thing as we were short on bedding. The property is advertised as 3 bedroom house but only 2 beds were made up. As we are a family of 2 parents and 2 grown-up children, we asked the host for more bedding which he quickly supplied for a pull-out sofa-bed in the 3rd room. While the house was generally clean, it smelt mouldy and damp. Only one window in the bathroom was able to be opened and the house felt like it needed a good airing. The exterior of the building was mouldy and covered in cobwebs.
- Kane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janice (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place, easy drive from Brisbane. We were greeted by Wilson. Very unique experience. Wilson prepared some pasta for us and it was absolutely delicious! Was a bit worried about the location too remote but it was fine. 18min drive to nearest town and shops, 2 cafes are walking distance and we had beautiful dinner at the Paddock restaurant nearby.
- Molokai (10/5): Lovely and cute little place with lots of character - Super cute little place with lots of character, if you’re looking for modern true this isn’t for you but otherwise it quirky and beautiful. Would definitely recommend. No dislikes, just know you’re going to 100 plus year old church.
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional - The stay was very comfortable and cosy with ample space for the six of us. An absolutely stunning location with incredible views of the rolling hills just a stones throw away. Great stash of board games too!
- Camille (8/5): Lovely position great bedding - Great location wonderful welcome from owner No floor mat when we got there but owner was happy to supply
- D (9/5): The accommodation was unique, bringing history to life. -
- Michael (3/5): Poor - Location. Dusty inside. Floor not clean. Shower was dirty. Toilet brush / holder was disgusting. Chipped cups. General cleanliness poor.
- Denise (8/5): Very good -
- Chi (10/5): Exceptional - Really good Nothing
- Melanie (8/5): Very good -
- Kerry (8/5): Very good - Unique and good location for our stay
- Melissa (7/5): If you can ignore the old and dodgy stuff the room and place is kind of cool - Intriguing, Some facilities were old
- Donna (8/5): Very good -
- Gregory (7/5): The Church is an authentic 'step back in time' and has a lovely 'feel' to it. - The complimentary Spaghetti & their Special Sauce was yummy.
The 'period' Decor was amazing and set the scene
The Veranda was a great addition Sadly, the place requires a bit of Maintenance Inside and Out and Replacement of the Appliances. We did find the Beds small and uncomfortable.
The Fireplace did not work...
- Ella (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location very well equiped and gorgeous interior. :)
- Huntington (6/5): It was lovely - Okay Okay
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nathan (8/5): Great getaway for our family of 4 to spend some internet and device free time playing games and having some laughs. - The location was out of the way enough to feel miles away from the hustle and bustle of Brisbane but was only an hour an a half drive for us. The church definitely had some history behind it. The wood fire was great, I love a wood fire on a cold night. I think the fireplace flue needs a bit of maintainence, it smelt a little Smokey inside when I got the wood fire cranking. and the smoke alarms went off early in the morning randomly… well after the fire had gone out 🙂 Also the bathroom window needs some sort of lock or catch on it… it kept swinging open, and without any flyscreens a few bugs got in.
- Suan (8/5): It is one of our favourite places. - It is very cozy, beautiful area. The property needs some maintenance and very limited kitchen supplies.
- Ryan (8/5): Very good - What a cool spot! Our host had the heaters going for us, with gentle music playing and dinner cooked on our arrival - So special. The rustic and historical vibe of the place was the perfect spot for my mates and I to stay for the night before my wedding.
- Synnot (9/5): Wonderful hosting by Wilson. We will be back. - The unique atmosphere Very clean and well positioned for Binna Burra, our destination.
- Sue (7/5): Good -
- Suzan (7/5): Beautiful landscape, quiet and peaceful. - The old church is well preserved and it was nice to see some of the old furniture, like a pew. The kitchen has all the basic utensils to cook your meals. Host was very kind, left us a meal on the fridge. I recommend playing the CD's on the kitchen sidetable, really good music for us. Beechmont is a small community, so there is not much to do there except a nice coffle shop (The Flying Bean Cafe) and an splendid view of the mountains below (including Mount Warning) at Rosin's Lookout. I do recommend visiting Earthling Studio to buy some beautiful pottery (the owners, Nola and Greg, were very friendly). Also not far from Binna Burra, where you can have a nice meal at Binna Burra Tea House and great bushwalks. Good place to rest.
- Alan (4/5): Disappointing - The mice and the possums all night long
unable to sleep for the animals running around
- Linda (5/5): This lovely lil church is conveniently located, and Wilson was very hospitable. - All the cafes nearby were closed (Tuesday) on the morning we left which was very disappointing. Wilson left a meal in the fridge but we attended a wedding nearby so didn’t eat it but it was extremely lovely of him. The church is really quaint, the lead light is gorgeous, and the history of it was interesting to read. Wilson left the split system on for us as it was cold and it was quite warm inside! We also asked and received an early check-in. The hard bed in the back room! No matches to light the fire. The window in the bathroom had no snib to secure it. Nothing in the shower to put your soap on or other toiletries. It needed a good deep clean throughout.
- Margaret (9/5): Superb - Beautiful building and furnishings Second bedroom is a loft, with no privacy
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hollie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, we loved staying here on our girls trip!
- Debbie (8/5): Very good -
- Alex (1/5): Unsafe black mould health risk avoid at all costs - Do not stay here. There was black mould in the bedroom and bathroom. This is a serious health risk which the owner has not offered to resolve. Do not stay here. There was black mould in the bedroom and bathroom. The owners ignored messages about the mould and have not offered any compensation after I developed a rash and wheezy cough after staying the night
- Tammy (8/5): Very charming and comfortable stay at the church. Location is perfect. - The host was very friendly and attentive. The location was perfect for our attendance to a wedding at Rosewood Estate. The church conversion is perfect, very comfortable bed. Although functional the bathroom could do with some running repairs and a deep clean.
- Peers (10/5): Exceptional - Fab food 🤌
Great location 👌
Wonderful experience 👍
- Erin (9/5): Superb -
- Marty (7/5): Good -
- Lawrie (8/5): Very good -
- Zsuzsanna (10/5): Exceptional - What an amazing, unique, homely & peaceful retreat!!!! We were completely stunned when we entered our new home. How extraordinary, and so very cosy and beautiful. The church has been restored with so much love and support from different people, you just see it in every corner, and the result is truly mindblowing. What a perfect hideaway during heavy rainfalls. We enjoyed an incredibly romantic evening inside, candlelight, lovely music, Wilson's heavenly sugo & pasta. We feel so very privileged about the chance to stay in such a very special location. If you have the chance, please book this place, it is just so so extraordinary. Moments that will stay with us forever...
- Matthew (9/5): Superb - The property was lovely but it was mainly the guy who owned it from across the road who I found to be exceptionally lovely and accommodating. We arrived very late and after I initially could reach anyone on their phone number I initiated cancellation proceedings only to stop and try our luck there anyway. He met us there, was very apologetic about the fact that the room hadn’t been completely finished as he thought we were going to cancel. I in turn apologized and in general it was a refreshing pleasant exchange between two people who had got a bit muddled Not much by the way of shops close by (as you should expect) so some prep is advised
- Alex (8/5): A great stay in a peaceful setting. - The property had charm and character. It was great to stay in this little church. Washing machine didn’t seem to work, but that could’ve been me.
- Scott (6/5): beatuiful view interesting location - view, the uniquiness of the property. it was funky the dryer/washer did not work at all. taps (shower) was difficult to use. window in the bathroom did not lock.
- Gary76_101 (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the late checkout, and the place was quite unusual in a good way
Opened the fridge to a lovely home made pasta and sauce
Owner was lovely.
Thank you
