Guest Reviews
- Geoff (10/5): Picked good weather and had a wonderful stay in Walhalla, good chance we’ll return -
- Julie (10/5): Everything you could need, walking distance to everything including the gold mine tour and the only pub. - Central, beautifully furnished and had everything you could need. The bird seed was a lovely touch.
- Diana (9/5): We would definitely stay there again - Comfortable, cosy, a great location in the heart of the town with a fabulous view. We loved the old world feel and touches like the newspaper from 1870
Also the history of renovations which was very interesting
The beds were very comfortable
- Dunn (9/5): -
- Emily (10/5): Perfect family getaway - Great location, excellent updated facilities, comfortable beds, cosy living area, great views. Some laundry facilities would have been helpful. We had a sick child and needed to do some unexpected washing.
- Michael (10/5): - Everything Nothing. It was awsome
- Catherine (10/5): Very warm and cosy - Location, well furnished and nice little touches like night lights, complimentary chocolate and emergency food rations amongst other things. Comfortable bed and sofas. Light log burning stove which warmed the whole house! Good shower, well stocked kitchen and lovely outside space - oh and feeding the birds!!
- Susan (9/5): Lovely property - very comfortable for a few night stay - Location location location
- Bauke (10/5): -
- Sue (9/5): -
- Katja (9/5): - Very clean, great set up, mix of modern and old. No newspaper or kindling for the fireplace provided and since it was wet outside, we couldn't collect any.
- Bernard Quay (9/5): Best small town stay experience - Beautiful place to stay - my family had the best time. The decorations were definitely a plus as it fit the theme of a gold rush town and allowed us to feel immersed in the history of Walhalla.
Everything was clean, tidy, and comfortable. Beds, sheets and blankets were very comfortable, and the shower facilities were great. There was nothing to dislike about the property, just perhaps a few ideas to value add:
- Having a baby chair would help with meal times for little ones (mine was 11 months so she could somewhat sit in the dining chair but did make a bit more mess)
- More kindling wood and smaller logs for the fire? More of a problem for city folks like me - I was not the best at starting the fire in the log burner. But once I got the fire going, it was such a beautiful lounge area to sit and enjoy with the family.
- Sascha (10/5): -
- LaughingTonySmith (10/5): - Brilliant location, great facilities All good
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional - absolutely awesome place to stay location is superb
- Anna (9/5): A cosy haven in the centre of town, with a lovely view - Super helpful hosts who communicated clearly and were helpful when an issue arose with our key. They responded promptly to any questions.
Facilities were as promised and we appreciated the firewood supply given the cold crisp night on arrival!
- Viney (10/5): Perfect stay, right in the heart of town, overlooking the Rotunda - This is a quaint little cottage that has been restored perfectly & suits the town on the outside while giving some modern comforts on the inside.
Located right in the heart of town, overlooking the Rotunda.
Our host's provided all the essentials like soaps, tea/coffee, salt/pepper & milk along with a couple of treats.
There are board games, books & a TV. You can even read the old newspaper on the walls like wallpaper as the would have done back in the day.
There is a very small enclosed yard out back, great for little dogs, but not so much room for our 2 greyhounds, but enough for them to do their business (we knew this though).
We loved our stay & would highly recommend this to everyone, especially if travelling with fur babies.
- Liang (10/5): Exceptional -
- Miriam (9/5): Superb - Brilliant location!
- Helen (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (9/5): Superb - N/a Water leakage at shower base
- Mario (8/5): Lovely peaceful location for a relaxed holiday - Great location and all required facilities were available Just a suggestion if viable to 1) install fly screens on the side and rear exit doors so they could be left opened and 2) fence the front of the house so dogs could run around securely
- Andrew (9/5): Old world charm to help one stop and take a breath. - The location was fantastic. The host made check-in very convenient. Would absolutely recommend
- John (10/5): Just so relaxing and peaceful with nature’s beauty. - Well positioned cottage with all the necessary comforts.
Tranquility.
Ideally close to Walhalla’s high street cafes and landmarks.
- Jed (9/5): We read about Wallhalla and wanted to visit. The town and Sacred Cottage did not disappoint. - The location overlooking Wallhalla was fantastic.
- Sue (10/5): An exceptionally delightful cottage in a great location. - This is a superb cottage in the style of the former miners’ cottages. On a hill overlooking the village, with a delightful view over the trees in the valley. It is extremely comfortable, and has everything required for self catering. It felt like a home away from home and I would definitely recommend it to friends. Only that our stay was over.
- Sergey (10/5): Sancreed Cottage - an oasis of calm in charming Walhalla. - Walhalla is a special place. The town itself is beautiful, so pretty and like going back in time of the goldrush era. A perfectly preserved little village with such a great feel. Area is so quiet with some great forest walks around.
Sancreed Cottage – has one of the best views over the Walhalla village. The cottage is set up ideally for a long or short stay and it is so comfortable and welcoming inside. Nothing.

The perfect location to explore one of Australia's hidden treasures, Walhalla great in every way and exceeded our expectations by a country mile. This is the go to place in Walhalla and will be our place to go back to when we have a return visit
- Sumie (9/5): Superb -
- Talab (10/5): Cute, quaint, comfortable, and 100% charming. - I can’t say enough positive things about this charming getaway. There were so many thoughtful touches included in the stay from providing history about the town to ensuring our comfort when we were there. This has nothing to do with the property, just a word of warning if you stay over a Monday to be prepared for dinner on your own as neither restaurant is open on Monday nights. The cafe was lovely and provided takeaway meals for us after lunch.
- Sarah (10/5): Another amazing stay in Walhalla - Clean, tidy, an amazing location, and the fact they had thought of everything from DVDs, historical notes to emergency food truely shows how much they want you to enjoy your stay

- Mong (8/5): Highly recommend this cottage for mum dad and 2 kids - Location, well appointed, thoughtful, dog friendly, clean. Really good There was a dirty tray left in the oven from previous occupier and a dirty ash tray on the front porch, probably missed by cleaners, the only blemish
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - Sancreed Cottage was the perfect getaway for my girl's weekend with mum and sister. It had everything we needed and was comfortable for the three of us. The wood heater was a plus and kept us toasty warm. I enjoyed the King Parrots coming to visit morning and afternoon. Being In the middle of the town was great, and an easy walk for mum to the shops.

- Colin (9/5): Great - Great location looking over the beautiful village. Very comfortable restored cottage. Fairly well equipped. Very quiet at night. Stunning countryside. Nice welcome touches such as chocolate and bottled water. Very helpful when we had a slight issue. Could have been a little cleaner. The bathroom bin wasn't emptied and the grill pan was dirty. Dead flies caught between the cooker and work surface.
No large size dinner plates.
None of the above would put us off staying again.
