Guest Reviews
- Melissa (9/5): Great stay - Location was great, everything we needed. Water was nice and hot,. Washing machine and dryer was a bonus Nothing
- Richard (8/5): We were very comfortable in the unit. - Clean and rustic
- jean (9/5): -
- Russell (8/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): Very enjoyable - Beds are very comfortable and everything was very clean The oven and microwave need updating and also the light doesn’t work in the range hood.
- Teodora (7/5): Very nice accomodation - Very comfy little house and good location. House has almost everything you need and is nice to hang around and enjoy your day. Very spacious with 3 bedrooms is a perfect place especially if you have a bigger family. Plenty of wildlife around to watch from the deck. There's plenty of space around so you don't get much noise from the neighbours. You can tell the owners put so much love into this house with all the little details. WiFi and phone reception quite bad.For whatever reason my Optus could not cope well in this particular place, I had phone reception (not full) however could not use data or send a photo text. WiFi was ok in the morning and gradually got worse throughout the day to the point night time was impossible to use. I run one of the latest phone models and struggled. Unsure if maybe Optus is an issue in this area. We frequently visit Halls Gap, a few times a year across various accomodations, but we never really had this issue before.
Cobwebs might need a clean up. Tried plugging in a charger and came up full of cobwebs.
- Ricky (10/5): Loved it and will be staying there again soon. - Although the outside didnt look anything special, the inside was amazing. It was very comfy and cozy. The bed was extremely comfortable and we loved the fire place. There was nothing that we didnt like.
- Julie (9/5): All in all a lovely cottage with everything you needed. - Daydream cottage was very cosy. The wood fire was fabulous and warmed the whole house. There was a good supply of wood outside in a small shed. My bed was very comfortable and had an electric blanket.
In the kitchen there was everything you needed to cook with. There was also a hair dryer in bathroom plus shampoo, conditioner & soap. An extra bonus was a laundry with a washing machine. We really enjoyed our stay. There were only a couple of things we didn't like. We thought a larger TV would have been great. The couch was hard to get up & out of and we didn't like the shower in the small bath. Being older l didn't like stepping up into the bath.
- Zayde (8/5): - The location of the cottage was perfect. Cottage is beautiful the views are great. Beds are super comfy and rooms were spacious. We will definitely think of booking this cottage again. Couches a bit outdated and sagged hard to get out of. Bath was a little difficult to bath a baby in due to shower screen.
- Maria (9/5): -
- Christine (8/5): A great stay. - Loved the coziness of the cottage and the wood fire. Loved the natural bush outlook and the wildlife. Kitchen was well equipped and clean. Cottage was roomy and great for a few nights stay. The bed was really comfortable! Would stay again. A bit awkward for seniors having the shower over the bath, although we did know that was the case and did manage OK without mishap.
- Barbara (5/5): This cottage has potential to be quite nice, however needs a good clean and some tender love and care. The skirting boar - Walking distance to town It was grotty and dark
- Howard (8/5): - Location and great log fire
Also bed was very comfortable Dated decor and noisy kitchen taps
- Naomi (10/5): -
- Gizycki (4/5): A challenging stay in paradise - Nice location, close to the local town and Brambuk cultural centre and trails. Burning furnace with wood provided. Washer and dryer provided which was convenient. Good range of kitchen appliances. No central heating, bathroom was extremely cold, two cockroaches were found, the mattress in two of the bedrooms were worn and uncomfortable. DVD player was broken. No coffee or tea or napkins. The internet connection was not great.
- Julia (9/5): We had a lovely time and hopefully will stay there again. - Wood stove, comfy beds, view of the mountains, well equipped kitchen. The couches- tired looking and uncomfortable.
- Will (10/5): - Really enjoyed our stay here, very comfortable place in a great location. The huge log burner made the chilly evenings very cozy. Very easy access and great communication from the host. Would definitely stay here again.
- Connor (9/5): -
- Anna (8/5): Great stay in Halle’s gap with the family - Warm, beds comfy, electric blanket Couches were terrible
Tv could have been upgraded
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Nick (9/5): Homely cottage. - Wood fire with plenty of wood, quiet location not far from town and bush walks. Felt at home in this 80s styled cottage. Comfortable bed with an electric blanket, fully equipped kitchen and TV which didn't need a degree to operate. Very functional cottage equipped with a laundry. Bedrooms and bathroom can get cold even with the wood fire and electric heating going.
- Spencer (8/5): 7 year anniversary and proposal, all in all we had a great time. - As a family with a 2 and a half year old son we loved having the whole cottage to ourselves.
Being in close proximity to Halls Gap was also a good bonus.
The cottage itself felt very homey and was comfortable to reside in for our 2 night stay. We found the WiFi to be slow, even with 1 or 2 bars of 4G phone reception we still preferred our mobile service over the WiFi's speed.
The driveway into the property was sufficient for an experienced driver, however someone who is inexperienced it could be difficult entering or exiting.
There's a clothesline strung around the posts under the carport which hinders the full opening of vehicle doors on this side of the carport.
On our final night of stay our son was sleeping with us and had told us he saw an elderly couple standing at the end of the bed watching us sleep. This is a first for him and it had him shaking scared in the morning as he hasn't encountered any paranormal activity anywhere else we've stayed.
I had tried asking for something special to be placed in the cottage for our 7 year anniversary and engagement, nothing extra was added.
Appliances were quite dated.
Scenery was obstructed by trees and growth.
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional - Joanne was very helpful and the cottage suited our needs.
- Dunstan (7/5): Good -
- Slykerman (8/5): Good location to go bush walking from. -
- Bev (5/5): Passable - Liked the area, cleanliness of cottage Dust from nearby road meant we were unable to open the cottage windows or sit on the verandah when cars raced up the dirt road
- Leanne (9/5): Relaxing stay. - A lovely house with all you could ever need while spending some time in halls gap. Beautiful verandah to sit out and enjoy the scenery and wildlife
- Linda (7/5): Daydream cottage is an excellent location for enjoying bushwalking in the area. - The queen bed we slept in was very comfortable, the electric blanket worked well, there were plenty of extra blankets and the sheets were good quality and very well laundered.
The kitchen is very well supplied with pots, pans, cooking utensils, cutlery and sharp kitchen knives.
There was plenty of very hot water for the shower and kitchen.
WiFi was good.
The living area is spacious.
We enjoyed eating lunch on the balcony one day.
There were many beautiful birds around. The bathroom was very cold even on warm days and there is no heater in it.
The lounge suite in the living room, although comfortable, is very grubby, especially on the arm rests. We were disappointed by this because the general standard of cleanliness throughout the house is good.
We were surprised that, as a matter of guest safety, the shower over the bath has not been supplied with a grip rail and a non-slip matt in the bath, which would be an inexpensive solution to the problem.
- Thomas (8/5): Happy to stay again - Quiet location easy walk into halls gap
- Cormac (10/5): Exceptional - The location , the cottage and the fire
- Monir (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ron (9/5): A wonderfully set up home in an excellent, quiet location - The Home was very well set up with every thing you need no complaints
- Margaret (9/5): Superb - We had plenty of space and the cottage was clean and warm. The shower over the bath was a bit tricky.
- Laelia (10/5): A cosy holiday in the heart of the Grampians. - This was our second stay at this beautiful cottage and it won't be our last. Our host was very quick to respond to assisting us when needed. Halls Gap is a lovely place to visit. I can only think of one very minor suggestion for improvement. It would be nice to have some old newspapers on hand for lighting the fire. Everything else was perfect.
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional - Location was fantastic. House was great.
- Nikki (8/5): Cozy cottage in a nice location. Very complete for a short stay. Not recommended for old folks as the shower is over a s - Very cozy cottage and it is surrounded by trees with enough privacy. Everything required for a short stay is available. Beds are clean and comfortable complete with heated bed pad.
Love the fireplace and patio. Kitchen is well equipped. We stayed 3 nights and were only supplied with 2 small pieces of ‘hotel’ soap.
The shower was over a bath tub which is be slippery. There is no non-slip mat nor handle. The small piece of soap dropped and I slip and fell when trying to pick up.
It would be very dangerous especially for old folks.
- Heidi (10/5): peaceful, relaxing and the wood fire was awesome, loved every minute of being at the cottage - location perfect
wood fire awesome
the whole cottage was lovely and comfortable
- Kathy (9/5): Great home away from home. - Loved the open space and the beautiful surroundings. Loved the fire. Bed was very comfortable and warm. Shower over the bath a little tricky for us but only a minor issue.
- Sally (8/5): The host was amazing, the cottage clean and comfortable, very enjoyable stay in this cosy cottage. - Lovely clean cottage No hairdryer
- Manfred (9/5): Superb - Everything comfortable home-like. Well appointed. Wood heater. No heating in bathroom and bedrooms
No broom to clean around wood heater.
- Pearl (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (9/5): Comfy and quiet - Great little home, nice and quiet
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Craig (10/5): A quick stay, in relaxing accommodation and surroundings - Very clean.
Just out of town, close enough to walk.
The serenity was beautiful x
- Trish (7/5): Good - House was clean and comfortable. \
- Rob (8/5): Very good -
- Stojan (2/5): Just ok nothing special - Location was great, nature was fantastic Run out of hot water we did not have show for one day, house smells bad not ventilated,
- Cathy (9/5): Superb -
- Vatsal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabriella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melissa (8/5): Very good - We enjoy the privacy in big rooms , kids loved every walk to the town to find restaurants and various wild animals in the middle of the town. We wish we could have stay longer, 2 days wasnt enough for us
- Glenda (8/5): Very good -
- Mick (10/5): Would not hesitate to re book on our next trip to Halls Gap - The location was perfect for overseas visitors, wildlife on your door step and a great bush setting. Close enough to Halls gap without being to far out, walking distance was great.
- Simon (9/5): Nice spot. Everything you need is in the cottage - Nature I can think of anything
- James (7/5): Good - Great leafy location.
- Pam (9/5): Superb -
- Suzanne (10/5): Beautiful house and location, would definitely stay again. -
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sabrina (7/5): Cosy little cottage. Easy to locate. Check in/out is easy and seamless. Plenty of wood available for the coonara. - Cosy little cottage. Easy to locate. Check in/out is easy and seamless. Short walk to town/shops Needs a bit of high cleaning(cobwebs on ceiling)
- Stevens (10/5): Brilliant - Well set up, had everything we needed. Nothing
- Anonymous (9/5): Brilliant, very relaxing despite the wild weather - will definitely return - My son and I stayed here for 4 nights so we could explore the Grampians. The cottage was fabulous! Great location - a 20 minute walk into Halls Gap and if you go at night you’ll spot deer and wallabies. The cottage was very well equipped - had everything we need, the kitchen had every utensils imaginable (apart from egg cups but we had poached instead). Was lovely and warm, plenty of firewood. The bedrooms don’t have hearing but with the fire going open the doors and it heats the whole house. Joanne is helpful and brilliant with messaging As some previous guests gave mentioned, an additional lamp or two in the living room would be beneficial - especially for reading. Some board games or books would be great (we took our own - but would be a nice touch) and a full length mirror somewhere would be helpful.
- Liam (6/5): We would have been happier I think in warmer weather. - Bedding was not a great fit on the larger adult beds and electric blankets not the greatest. A few more instructions would have been helpful re the fire.
- Bonnie (7/5): Lovely setting, friendly owner. - The layout of the house is spacious, and the woodfired heater did a great job of keeping us warm during a winter cold snap. There was a plentiful timber supply. The surrounding bushland was a hit with my kids and far enough from town to be peaceful. Joanne is a pleasure to deal with. The couches and queen beds are a bit old and uncomfortable.
- Frances (9/5): We had a wonderful stay in this warm and cosy home, will be back! - Such a beautiful, cosy house. It was a wild wintery weekend and we were so warm by the fire. Perfect place as a couple, and we’d love to come back with friends. Had everything we needed and was perfectly clean. The only thing I’d suggest is to upgrade the lounge room couches and cushions, and to add another lamp in the lounge room.
- Susan (9/5): Quiet and peaceful - This is a comfy little cottage with far more kitchen equipment than you normally get for which I was very grateful. It has the added bonus of a carport right outside the back door. The only difficult part was warming up the house. The air con was set to 25 when we got there and although this is far too hot for us we thought we would warm up the house, get the fire going and turn it off. It didn't ever reach 25. I would say it didn't go over 18. It took a whole day to warm up the house using the fire but once warm it stayed that way. From then on I found it very comfortable although my daughter (from Qld) found it a little cold. This would not stop me from staying here again.
- Sue (10/5): Lovely accomodation in a beautiful setting. - Good supply of wood for the fire.
Clean and had everything we needed. Nothing.
- Julie (9/5): Cosy with fire. Close to our friends - Na All was grt thx
- Elaine (9/5): Superb -
- Medina (8/5): Very good - Keys were easily located in the lockbox It was a very pleasant stay. Will definitely return when travelling there again
- Sharon (10/5): Kingfisher 3 in Halls Gap was wow, wow, wow! - Omg, we actually booked Day Dream, but due to some maintenance issues, we were put in to Kingfisher 3.
Wow, wow, wow !
Could not believe such a cosy, perfect cottage was going to be our home while in Halls Gap.
Thankyou Jo, you were informative and there for our questions! We are returning and probably going to rent out Blue Wren as well for the 8 of us to be side by side cabins !!
Thankyou for our lovely time there Jo xx There's nothing we didn't like !!
If I had to be very picky, it would be that there were too many cushions on main bed and on lounge !
But definitely nothing to complain about!
- Steph (10/5): Lovely dream getaway - Lovely cosy cottage, nicely furnished and supplied with everything you could need,. Short drive or pleasant (longish) walk into the Gap centre. Joanne (host) was so helpful and answered any emails almost immediately. Plenty of wood supplied for the fire. Beds very comfortable and shower was great. Please comply with the request to NOT feed the birds! The cockatoos in Halls Gap are as bad as seagulls and can be a real pest.
Only one thing missing from the kitchen - egg cups!
- Anthony (8/5): Very good - Location amongst the gum trees. Plus a walk away from the town Lighting inside the cottage was not too good. One of the globes was fused. Found reading not easy
- Denise (9/5): Dreamy Dream Cottage - Very well appointed, a lovely little cottage, great for a getaway. The road leading to the cottage needs a bit of work otherwise no complaints.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Bruce (9/5): Superb -
- Colleen (10/5): highly recommend thank you! - excellent property. close enough to walk to the cafes and shops the internet didn’t work. there was severe winds and rain all weekend so that may have been the reason
- Fabrice (10/5): Perfect stay - The house is amazing. It is very confortable, fully furnished, bedroom are huge. The place is very quiet. It was really nice to stay at the Day dream cottage!
- Julie-nick (10/5): Exceptional -
